Settings gone after changing to new computer and moving old profile

Well, I got a new computer. UI had daily backups and thus my profile is current as of last night. I tried importing the profile, and while the bookmarks, extensions, passwords, etc, are there, the theme wasn't saved, and it somehow opened tabs I had stored from like NOVEMBER. It also seems to have forgotten my tab settings, etc as well as added all the extra bookmarks that are default.
Any way to restore it to the old familiar state?

Also, it seems that the NoUn Buttons extension is missing the little 'recent history' tab next to them for some reason and the only solution is to use the Unified buttons, which I really dislike.

  • Log in after buying a new computer and reformatting old hard drive

    Hi,
I just reformatted old laptop and bought and new laptop. Both are completely newly installed windows 7. I did not back up my bookmarks from before, but I thought using a username/password, I can relog onto firefox sync and have all my bookmarks restored. I am finding this very difficult since every time I try that, the firefox sync asks me to add a device from the main computer. Well this IS my main computer!!
I have an android phone with firefox and old bookmarks all saved... is there a way to restore my bookmarks from my Android firefox back onto my new laptop?
    Thanks

    Are you talking about emails?
Because the list of emails is saved in email provider

You can backup the bookmarks on the old computer and create a JSON or HTML backup and restore or import this file in the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks).
You can use an USB stick to transfer the saved bookmarks file to the new computer.<br />
You can also copy the places.sqlite file from that computer to have the bookmarks and the history.

The ipod is not a backup device.  The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  the exception is itunes purchases.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old comptuer, to your new one.

  • I want to be able to sync my iPhone 5 to my new iTunes library (new computer) and erase old music. When I connect my iPhone I have no option to "erase and sync."

So I have the iPhone 5. My old computer crashed so I ended up purchasing a new computer and re-installing and downloading all my old music and new music.
When I connect my iPhone to my new computer I can sync music but the old music still remains on my iPhone as well as the new music.
There's a lot on the phone that I don't want anymore but I can't seem to figure out how to erase it.
I don't want to restore the iPhone so I don't lose all my old messages and so forth.
I have all of the latest updates for the iPhone and well as iTunes.
If anyone has any answers to help that would be awesome!
    Thanks.

    Hey there,
It sounds like you are not getting the prompt to erase and sync your device. This indicates to me that Manual Syncing was enabled on the original iTunes Library, and becuase of that it is also now enabled on your new computer.
This is changable in the Summary tab of iTunes when you have your device selected, and this article will help you do that:
Managing content manually on iPhone, iPad, and iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1535
Configure iPhone, iPad, or iPod for manual management
To manually manage the content, follow these instructions:
Connect the device to your computer.
    Open iTunes.
Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod. If your device isn't visible in the upper right corner of the screen, choose Library.
Click the Summary tab and select "Manually manage music and videos."
    Click Apply.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

  • I have changed to new computer and can`t sync ipad music to new library how do i unsync from old one don`t want to loose photo`s and music

when i sync my ipad to my new computer, apple tells me it is synced to a different computer and can only have one, the old computer has died, what can i do i don`t want to loose all my music, as some of it is not recoverable, hope you can help?

Your old computer has died, but surely, since it contained nonrecoverable music, you've made a backup.
Simply move the contents of the iTunes folder in your computer's backup to the iTunes folder on your new computer.  You should then be good to go.

  • Thunderbird was working after migration to new computer, now lost email/profile when trying to switch to IMAP?

I moved Thunderbird to a new PC about 1 year ago. Everything was working OK for me until now. I wanted to switch from POP3 to IMAP and really messed things up.
I kept the old POP3 accounts configured and added them as IMAP. I was thinking that I could just copy from the POP account to the IMAP account once they both showed up there. That did not work. Either something unexpected happened, or I messed things up. Now all my email is gone.
I have since removed all of the accounts and wanted to get back to where I was before, but am not able to figure it out.
When I initially moved the email over about 1 year ago, I moved the profiles from the C: drive to the F: drive to save space on my new SSD C: drive. I think in the process of all of this, I've lost which of the many profiles I've found on the various drives is the original one I've used. Is there a good way to sort all of this out and get my email back in Thunderbird?
I do know that the email is still there, because when I search my PC, the email is still found using Windows Explorer, but I don't see how to get it to show up in Thunderbird again.
I'd really like to switch to IMAP from POP3, but if it's not possible, I can live with that.
I haven't messed with my wife's email (we have 2 users on the PC) - her email is still OK.
Any suggestions how to get the email back into Thunderbird?

    Good plan.
I'd also advise against changing the location of the individual message store locations, as, as you have found, it makes keeping on top of it all somewhat more complicated. The best reason I can think of for altering the "Local Directory" setting(s) in Account Settings is in a dual-boot system where you want the message stores (but not the entire profile) to be visible to two or more separate operating systems.

  • Setting up OSX after installing a new SSD and moving HDD to optical bay

    Hey all,
I know there are a tonne of other posts similar to this one in here, but I couldn't find the specific answers I was looking for.
Soon I'm going to remove my optical bay and put my current HDD in it's place, and install a brand new SSD where the original HDD once was.  I'm comfortable with the hardware installation but am wary about what to expect on first power up afterwards.
I would like to ideally run OSX Mavericks and all of my apps (everything from Notepad to Premiere Pro) from the SSD, and leave all of my data on the HDD.  I have an early 2011 13" Macbook Pro, model number A1278.
    - When I first turn the computer on after the hardware switcheroo, what can I expect to see?  How do I re-install OSX Mavericks onto the new drive?  Am I right in thinking that Mavericks is merely an upgrade rather than a whole new OSX and that I will need to install Lion and then upgrade to Mavericks rather than just reboot immediately to Mavericks?
    - How can I then remove Mavericks from the original HDD?
    - Exactly which files do I need to move to completely relocate the apps to the new drive?  Is it as simple as moving the entire applications folder over, or are there hidden files dotted all over the place that I need to consider also?
    Thanks in advance,
    Adam

    Adam,
if your current HDD is a SATA III (6.0 Gb/s maximum throughput) drive, then you might find that you’ll have problems with it in the Optibay position. If this is the case, you’d probably be better off putting your SATA III drive into an external enclosure, and purchasing a SATA II (3.0 Gb/s maximum) drive to install in the Optibay.
If you have a SATA-to-USB or SATA-to-FireWire adapter, you can connect your SSD externally and format it with Disk Utility. After that, you could use a cloning utility to copy the contents of your internal HDD to your SSD (presuming that the SSD is at least as large as the amount of space currently used on your internal HDD), and then boot from the external SSD using Startup Manager to make sure that everything works well on it; that will save you from having to make sure that all of the scattered hidden files have been migrated. Once you’ve confirmed that your apps run well from the SSD, you can then install the SSD and move the HDD to wherever it’s going. An advantage of keeping Mavericks on your HDD is that you can boot from it if needed, e.g. should your SSD develop a problem.

  • HT4527 Hello, I have a new computer and my old computer is no longer in use.  I have backed up all of my music whether it was purchased or burned by cd's.  Can you help me transfer my whole library?

    Hello,
In the past couple of months, I purchase a new computer but forgot to move old library.  I have always backed up my music to Apple.  Can you transfer the files?

My old version 6.0 failed to load on my new Windows 7 computer.  Can I buy an upgrade and use the old key or somehow install enough of the program to take an upgrade?

No. You can only buy a completely new license of Acrobat X.

  • I have a new computer, and I downloaded a new iTunes for my iPod, but it only transferred my Purchased Songs to my Library, not the other mp3s. Now when I go to add more mp3s and sync, it will add it to my Library, but not my iPod itself... What happened?

I want to add more songs, but I cannot figure out how to sync my iPod to actually transfer my mp3s. I had done it before, which is how I have most of my songs, but I don't know what I can do without totally erasing everyhing and starting over... Which I don't want to do, because I have a new computer and no old files. I'll have to do that if worst comes to worst, I guess. Hoping there's some other way around it.

You can only synce an iPod to one iTunes Library/one computer.  However, you can manage music among different computer . see:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers
If you want to transfer non-iTunes purchased music from an iPod to a computer other than the one you synced the music from you need to use a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
