Settings icon has a number

A users iPhone 4s (5.01) has the #1 next to the "Settings" icon on the home screen.
All the updates ( iOS updates have been done ) it say's the phone is up to date.
I can't see any thing else that needs attention.
Any clue ?
Thanks in advance

Well i did a backup since the last time and did the restore and it still has the number 1 on the settings icon.
Any more suggestions to fix this?
Here is a screenshot of my phone....

Actually, that's called downgrading. Some icons are placed in the add-ons bar
by default. Why the powers-that-be removed it is something that none of us have
been able to figure out. Go to the
    '''''[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ Mozilla Add-ons Web Page]'''''
(There’s a lot of good stuff here).
What you want to do is search for what you want. Many of us are now using
'''''[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/ Classic Theme Restorer (Customize Australis)]'''''<BR>
Restore squared tabs, appmenu, add-ons bar, small button view and more on Australis UI (Windows/MacOSX/Linux + Fx 29+).

  • Settings icon has permanent (1) badge after iOS7 Update

So I updated my new Retina iPad to iOS7 and now I have a (1) in the upper right hand corner of the Settings icon that will not go away. I've gone through every section of settings, performed a hard reset, checked for additional updates (checked app updates as well) and the thing will not go away. Suggestions?

You can't turn off the notification badge for settings, and the reset settings did not work, it is still there.

  • Minor problem. Settings icon has the Notification Flag (Red 1 circled) but I can't find why it won't turn off. It's annoying me.

    Anyone else have this?
I've tried turning off/on and restoring. Neither worked.
    Suggestions?

Never had a badge on Settings icon before. Go to Settings/Notifications and look for all apps that have Badges enabled. Hopefully you can quickly narrow down the offending app.

  • 3G to 3GS transfer oddity  settings icon is gone

It went smoothly BUT now my "settings" icon has disappeared. Spotlight can find it and open it but spotlight doesn't show WHERE it actually is. Does anyone know where it went??

Got my 3GS this morning. Took my laptop to the store with me. I asked the 'Genius' if I could restore settings from a backup. He said, "I think so." With fresh phone I had all icons (it was my settings icon that disappeared, twice). I plugged into iTunes and started my restore from backup. Upon completion I had no music or apps installed on the phone. It created two additional pages and bumped a couple factory apps to them but the settings icon was completly gone. I did a factory restore and it erased all my contact info like it should have and all the icons were returned. Again I did a restore from backup. Again the settings icon disappeared. Just for the **** of it I synced all my apps and music. After the sync the settings icon was there. Magic.

TThe Facebook app icon has a red circle with  number that increases every time my phone rings.  How do I clear it?

The Facebook app - or do you mean the Facetime app? The Facetime app will show all of the incoming phone calls if you are using the iPad for iPhone Cellular Calls. Settings>Facetime>iPhone Cellular Calls>On.
