Settings/icons/more not persisting through restart

I just recently installed ML and on every restart, my dock goes back to what it was on Lion and all my settings revert to what they were on lion. Nothing I change stays through a restart.
More examples after restart:
ical and address book return as ? icons in the dock, even though I've removed them and replaced them with Calendar and Contacts
Brand new adds to the dock, like messages, leave and I have to re-add them
Firefox, which I've set as my default browser, returns to non-default status
My screen starts in inverted-colors mode for no apparent reason, forcing me to hit Cmd+Option+Ctrl+8 to switch to normal
Any help?

This is a long shot but it worked for me once when my stuff was messed up at start. I was told to do this by an Apple phone support person and it worked. And it may have nothing to do with your problem, but . . .
You need another admin user on the mac. Restart and log into the other user. Then restart back to your user. I did that and all was fixed. I asked how, and was just told that a mac does a lot of self healing. Your mileage may vary, and this was before Mountain Lion.

It sounds like you are unable to find the Settings app to configure your device.
First I would try searching the device using Spotlight.
You can also use Spotlight Search to find and open apps.
Choose which apps and content are searched. Go to Settings > General > Spotlight Search. You can also change the search order.

If you are unable to locate it there, I would attempt backing up your device to iTunes, then restore your device.

Some Menu Bar Icons will not appear upon restart or boot up

my menu bar icons for some reason will not appear at the top of my screen some will show but the
Airport icon, Fax Menu, Spaces icon, battery meter and I don't have to many icons as some people
do I have to go to System>Library>CoreServices>Menu Extras and I double click on them and then
they appear in the Menu Bar
Macbook Pro 17" 2.33mhz, 3gb ram, 120gb hard drive, 802.11n Base station
I have ran disk utility, Drive Genius, Leopard Cache Cleaner with no help from any of these
please help me as I have no idea why this happening..?

Yes I do and that is another problem I will check the box for each item I do want to show up
in the menu bar when I check the box it will stay checked until just when I'm starting to close the
box? This really weird as I said in my 1st post I have to go to the System Library>CoreServices
then the folder Menu Extra's I'm just about at the point of reinstalling my OS unless someone
can tell me why this is happening

Solaris 10 zones - Resource Controls not persisting through reboot

Local zone was rebooted, but somehow the resource controls are not well configured and the oracle database did not start up.
The cat /etc/project shows this : The local zone has 10 gb. The oracle database was started manually with the startdb.sh, which conn /assysdba and issue a startup, adn also startups the listener.

What I know is that the zone was rebooted saturday. sunady at 1:00 am the oracle database (I'am a Dba not sysadmin), perform coldbackup (veritas.) then Veritas call a unix script to starts the database.
I run the script to starts the database manually sunday. Veritas could not open the database because of the Out of Memory.
The box has 10 gb , the oracle user, the rot and system are configured to use 8 gb, the rest are configured to use less.

Add printer not sticking through restart

Hello,
Something's gone wrong with my printers in that I can't add a printer until I reset the printing system (error message). Then the printer stays (and works fine) until the next time I start up, when I need to reset the printing system again and re-add the printer.
any ideas on this?

Lock of choice boot disk is not persistent

Good evening,
I want to lock the system preferences start to ensure that the iMac does not seek a boot disk on USB devices.
So I select the internal disk OS X and locks the settings by clicking on the padlock.
While I don't shutdown the iMac, the lock remains closed.
But each time I restart the iMac, I noticed that the lock is open again for the preference of the startup disk.
Is this normal?
Why this configuration is not persistent between restarts?
(Contrary to other locks them securely locked remaining)
I forgot something?

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.0.1. For the iPad Mini the iOS is 6.0.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.

Bugs: Delete icon does not go away when deleting about 10 emails or more at once

I have the Sprint Blackberry Tour and am noticing some other bugs now as well. It seems I cannot delete more than about 10 emails at a time without having the delete (clock icon) not go away. I have to remove the battery in order for it to go away. This in addition to the sound profile not remember my settings is annoying (there is another post on that.. Did they rush this phone out the door without proper testing?
Anyone else having problems with mass deleting emails?

a little update...
When this problem occures, I'm usually looking in my 'Messages' folder that list all messages from each of my seperate email accounts on my device.
The last time I had this problem when the icon would not go away, I went into each of my 3 email message folders seperately, and deleted all messages in each one. When I returned to my main 'Messages' folder from home screen, the 'Deleting' icon was gone.
I'll post another update when/if I confirm this is a work around for the problem.

Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (and Clear History)
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Leliforever, cheek you list of installed add-ons, the Ask toolbar can be installed without the users knowledge.

I assume these are POP accounts and all computers are set to remove from Server after downloading.
So on the non dominant ones... Mail Preferences>Accounts, highlight an account, Advanced tab, uncheck remove from Server, just have the main dominant one remove from server.
Or get/setup IMAP accounts.

RESPONSES:
1)   When I set up my iMac, I did not transfer any data directly from my windows PC. I simply used the same iTunes login and account. I have access to all of the files via the "Purchased" section of the iTunes store. If I click "Download Previous Purchases" text, I can download ALL of the purchases I have ever made.
2)   I have the Apple TV 2, so good news, question answered. I thought maybe it was the Apple TV 1, but it is the Black model, so bam. Good response for you. Well the whole damned reply is an awesome response, just pointing out that one piece of awesome. I stated that it was an Apple TV 2, and yet you were still good enough to figure I could be mistaken, and provide me with knowleedge just incase.
QUESTIONS:
3)   So can my iMac not stream the data directly from itunes, without download? Apple TV can, but perhaps that is something among many things that maker it unique, and awesome.

I work in the computer support section for the Military. The only problem is we use Windows , lol. Well that and i've been gone for nearly 6 months on recover. I go back next month though I hope. Have you talked to your carrier (or your friend to his)? Could be an issue at their end.

Try a soft reset - press the home and power bottons and keep them pressed until the Apple logo comes on. Then see if you can access Settings.
