Settings in the Dashboard & Exposè disappear
Two different intel machines, both running OS X 10.4.9 ... The settings in the Dashboard Exposè control panel disappear every week or two (I'm talking about the settings which determine what to do if the mouse moves to each corner, and what keys will trigger Dashboard, Exposè, etc).

it says that there should be a "users" field under "Site Settings," and that is where email accounts are set up. There is not, any more than there was a "email" field as referenced in the tutorial (as you can see from the screen shot above). I can no longer correspond with Adobe, since my primary email address on file with Adobe was with the domain that was transferred to Business Catalyst.

Do you have Time Machine enabled. If so, go back through your previous months until it features in your Application folder. Then restore.

Why my dashboard is disappeared?
i had just upgrade my MBP to OSX Lion few days ago...
and today when try to open the mission control, i found that the dashboard is disappear.
then i tried to open it manually... unluckily noting came out and when i open the preference,
i can see the only option relation to the dashboard "Show dashboard as a space",
ok then i click and turn it on, and i tried it again, again nothing showed up...
and again i open the preference, and check that the option "show dashboard as a space" is off...
i turn it on and try, same result try once more.... same......
did anyone got the same problem?One or more of your widgets are not compatible with Lion, that's all! The best way to fix this problem is to reset your dashboard, and reinstall your widgets.
1. Open finder
2. Hold down the option/alt key and select "Go" from the menu.
3. Select "Library" from the menu.
4. Open your "Preferences" folder.
5. Look for com.apple.dashboard.plist file, and move it to the trash.
6. Restart Lion
7. Your dashboard should now work! Next, reinstall all your widgets back on your dashboard. Hopefully they all work with Lion.
This will reset your dashboard to factory settings and Lion will create a new com.apple.dashboard.plist file for you.

Redefining default keyboard shortcuts for dashboard, exposé, etc.

I would like to redefine the keyboard shortcuts for the Dashboard, Dock, and Exposé functions, i.e. I don't want these functions to be bound to the f8-f11 keys. I can redefine the shortcuts manually using the Keyboard pane of the System Preferences, but there are two problems. The first is that the shortcuts for these four items are reset whenever the computer is restarted (my changes to the other keyboard shortcuts are maintained). Is there a way to permenantly change these shortcuts? The second problem is that I am not able to change the keyboard shortcuts for the "slow" versions of these shortcuts accessed by using the shift key.
Basically, I want to be able to use f8-f11 and shift + f8-f11 as keyboard shortcuts in other applications. I'd like to assign the Dashboard, Dock, and Exposé commands to be command + f8-f11 and shift + command + f8-f11.

PowerBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.1)Does it hold if you change in the Dashboard&Exposé preference pane? You should be able to at least set the Cmd+F#, not sure if it will work for the slow open.

The Powerbook is more limited in that it doesn't have the F13,F14,F15 keys, but editing the com.apple.symbolichotkeys.plist will give you direct control of the hotkey assignments.

Why is there no email option under site settings in the Business Catalyst Dashboard?
I have pushed a site live, and it has propegated, and looks fine on the Internet, but there is no email option under site settings in the Business Catalyst Dashboard as the tutorial and help screen said there would be.

I got a software update message this morning and clicked install and restart. Now my e-mail icon has disappeared from the dashboard. How do I get it back?
Don't recall the exact wording. But it is the same in appearance as others. Anyway, problem solved using RogerWilmut1 reply to someone else. I opened Applications and got the icon back. Thanks for responding.

The customized settings on my toolbar periodically disappear, and I have to re-set them. How can I avoid this nuisance?
If you mean you're about to perform a restore from a backup to a new device, it depends on the app. Some will retain their passwords, some will not. That's my experience.

When I want to play music out loud the volume bar disappears and it won't play music or any sound. This sometimes happens with head phones in aswell. How do I fix it? I have tried to reset settings and wipe all the data of it but it didn't work.help!
Although you say you have let the battery drain, was it for long enough? Since nothing else that you've tried so far has worked, I suggest that you leave the iPod unplugged for at least four days, preferably a week. That way, if something is stopping the iPod from turning the screen on, then whatever it is will drain the battrey. However, since the screen isn't on, that may take longer than if the screen was on.
Then, after that time, plug the iPod into a power source and leave it alone for at least thirty minutes. Only after thirty minutes will it show any signs of life, but you should leave it until it is fully charged before trying to use it.
If you get to this stage, the fact that the battery has drained will cause the iPod to reset when it springs back to life.

my apple tv was working fine untill the AirPlay option disappeared. I haven alterd the settings and have tryed rebooting both iPhone and ipad. I even rebooted the ATV and that disn't work. i am connected to the same network on both devices to. My iPad is up to date but my phone isn't but as I said mirroring and AirPlay worked fine on both devices befor...

It sounds like you don't have the AirPlay option on your iOS devices. Restarting your Apple TV and iOS devices was a good first step, and you can find some additional tips to guide your troubleshooting at this link:

My MacBook Air display shows only the desktop background, the dock has disappeared. Does anyone know how to restore the dock to the desktop? thanks
The dock can be configured to automatically show and hide when moving the mouse cursor over the current location. You can try to move the mouse over the dock area to see if it appears. Hopefully it will, and if you don't want that setting you can then change it to show permanently in the System Preferences > Dock settings.
If that doesn't work you can change the dock location in the preference settings to align on a different side of the window to see if it appears. That's all I can suggest at the moment.

In syncing my Iphone 5 for the first time, Facetime disappeared. Although it shows up under apps in the settings menu, the application itself does not seem to be there. What happened? How can I fix this?
There has never been a facetime app on the iphone.
As the manual says, you access from contacts. Pick a contact and scroll down to the facetime button -
I have several Smart mailboxes set up on my Mac.
Some of them hold all mail for years and others delete after about a month.

I have only 1 E-mail account, It is a POP and the one earlier account that I set up that works fine and saves all E-mails comes form a friend who also runs Apple. Don't know if that has anything to do with it.
All others are running Bill Gates stuff.
Even when I delete the "Friend Apple" E-mails his messages stay in the smart mailbox.
I deleted the other E-mails as I usually claen out once a week and get rid of junk and adds. I deleted the other smart mailbox E-mails from my main mailbox figuring that they would stay in the smart box like the other one.

I have several dropdown lists in my bookmarks toolbar and would like to access the properties for some of the the items. This used to work fine. However, now, when I go to the list and place the cursor on a particular item, the context menu that is usually available on a right click disappears when I try to access one of the options. This is the menu that begins with Open. What can I do to regain this functionality? I really need the information in the Properties section. I'm using Firefox 3.6.8
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
Also check the Mouse driver settings in the Control Panel. -
Dashboard flickr image removal. How do I remove a flickr image from the Dashboard?!
I forgot how I managed to creat a little image window with someone's flickr image into my Dashboard, but now I can't get rid of it. The image has no live links only an edit button that allows you to move the image within its box. I tried going to flickr to see if any images had the option of importing them to the Dashboard, but that isn't an option.....how the heck I got it to the Dashboard in the first place I don't remember. Regardless I want the image gone and it doesn't have delete to remove it. Help!
If you really mean Dashboard, that's where your widgets are, in which case you hit the plus key ( + ) in the lower left corner and then click the X on the widget you want to delete. But if you meant the Dock, you click and drag it off and it disappears in a puff of smoke.
