Settings Mail Autocheck replaced by Settings Fetch New Data on 3g?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can confirm that the 3g iPhone no longer has the "Auto-Check" function listed in Settings>Mail (above the Show, Preview etc fields; I don't see "Auto-Check" here like some user guides I have seen have indicated).
Assuming this isn't a problem with my phone, is this function now replaced by Settings>Fetch New Data? If I disable the Push function and set the Fetch to Manual, is this the equivalent of a Manual setting in the old "Auto-Check"?
I'm trying to set this up so I can resolve the mailbox conflicts I get between my iPhone mail and my MacBook Pro Mail app for two POP accounts (this has been discussed elsewhere; setting up my Pop accounts has been a nightmare!). Would opening an iPhone mailbox app automatically consitute a "manual" check?
Basically I just want to be able to have my iPhone on while I'm using my Macbook Pro Mail app.

Yes, "Fetch New Data" is auto-check in v2.0.x, as well as the place to turn Push email ON or OFF. Disabling Push and setting Fetch to Manual is the same as Manual - your email will only be checked when you launch the Mail app on the iPhone.

  • TS2621 settings will not allow me to click on email, it does not highlight email, account, or fetch new data

Please give me some assistance with a problem that we have encountered with our ipod touch. We have lost the camera app, and most of all we need to change the email address on the ipod touch but when I go to settings, the email account, add account, fetch New Data will not highlight to allow me to click on them to access them to change them.
I have forgotten the password on the ipod also, we set it when we first purchased it for my daughter and never used it again and we cannot remember for the life of us what that pass code is now.
Thank you very much for your time with this matter.

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to Restore the device...
Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and Restore...

If necessary Place the Device into Recovery mode...

    Note on Recovery Mode.
You may need to try this More than Once...
Be sure to Follow ALL the Steps...
But... if the Device has been Modified... this will Not necessarily work.

  • Individual settings under "Fetch New Data" not working

    Hi.
I'm having problems getting the individual push/fetch/manual settings to work. Here's the scenario.
I have three mail accounts set up on my iPhone 3G. They are "MobileMe," "GMail" and "Work."
I go to "Settings" -> "Fetch New Data" and turn "Push" OFF. I then go to "Advanced" at the bottom and set "MobileMe (Mail)" to PUSH. I thought this would enable PUSH on my MobileMe account while keeping it disabled on the other accounts.
However, my iPhone still won't get new mail automatically.
    What am I doing wrong?

One thing to try that might help.
If you turn push off in the fetch new data screen, then it is a global effect for all accounts.
In advanced is how you want the accounts to behave.
So, if you turn push off in the 1st screen, then go to advanced and set mobileme to push, push is still off until you go back to the first screen and turn it back on.
Here is an article from the apple support website that might help out.

  • Fetch New Data shows two entries for one account

I have on a variety of accounts on my iPhone and my iPad: an iCloud, an Exchange, a IMAP, and a couple of Gmail accounts.
Earlier this week, I noticed that in the "Fetch New Data" setting (Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Fetch New Data), there are TWO entries for one of the Gmail accounts.
One entry lists "Mail and Calendars." I use this for this particular Gmail account. I have these selected in the "Accounts" section of Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar.
The other entry lists "Contacts and Calendars." I don't sync Contacts, but I do sync Calendars. Why is it listed twice?
    I tried deleting
the offending Gmail account, but it did not delete the duplicate entries.
    erasing all settings
all of my accounts, including iCloud, IMAP, and other accounts.
The ghost account is still there, fetching calendars and contacts.
Has anyone else seen this behavior?
I considered erasing settings and content, but that seems pretty extreme for something that might not be that big of an issue.

Exact same problem here!!! Iphone 5s with IOS 7.0.3, using Gmail among other email providers.
So it is definately a bug - the "fetch new data ghost account". I hope it will be solved in a newer release. In the meantime, I switched the ghost account to "manual" so it shouldn't interfere...

  • Fetch New Data Issue

    Hi,
I have 3 exchange accounts configured in my iPhone4 (iOS 4.2.1): 2 GMail accounts and 1 company account.
My goal would be to check every 15min the GMail accounts, and only manually the company account.
    My configuration as follows:
Fetch New Data > Push > Off
Fetch New Data > Fetch > Every 15min
Fetch New Data > Advanced > GMail accounts > Select Schedule > Fetch
Fetch New Data > Advanced > Company account > Select Schedule > Manual
I rebooted iPhone many times, but every time the app checks for GMail accounts (mail app is NOT already running), it checks for Company account too (even if fetch is set to Manual for this account), and it shows me mail counter on app icon (before to open the app).
Shouldn't "Fetch New Data > Advanced" override "Fetch New Data > Fetch"?
Please tell me if I'm going wrong or if there's a solution for this issue.
    Thanks a lot!

After some tests, the problem seems to occur only if there are some non-read messages in the company account, when mail app check for other accounts.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

  • Mail not fetching new data every 15 with 3g turned off

I had to turn 3g off in order to improve my reception and battery life. It seems to help somewhat, however I notice that the Mail application does not fetch new mail every 15 minutes like its setup to do. It works fine in 3g mode, just doesnt do it while its on edge. (I think it also works ok on wifi.)

Perhaps your in an area with awesome 3g reception but really bad Edge. Weird huh.

  • Transferring all settings, mail and apps from iphone to new pc

    hey guys,
when syncing my iphone with a new pc, how would i transfer all my mail, settings and contacts over in the new pc? would it be included in my library as well?
also, would the library also include my apps too? or do i have to transfer the mobile sync file over?
not good at this stuff, so any advice will do.
    thanks in advance

Thanks for your reply razmee209. As I mentioned, I've already read many posts about this subject, including that one. It's very helpful but stops short of explaining WHY the design is the way it is. I'm accustomed to being able to tell what my computer is doing - seeing the file extensions, knowing what files are where. I'm hoping someone can provide the reasoning. For instance: is the content on my iPhone not the same file type as the content on my pc? Is it related to rights management, or security?

  • Accounts tab in Settings Mail, Contacts, Calendars dissabled

    Hi,
Since recently, the accounts tab on my iPhone 4 is disabled. I can still receive and send email messages, but I cannot add a a new email account, configure the existing email accounts nor change the fetch new data field. The mail, contacts and calendar tabs work fine.

It looks like you're using Restrictions.

  • After Mavericks upgrade Mail 7 not automatically fetching new emails

    Hello,
Since the Mavericks upgrade, Mail is not anymore automatically fetching new emails, but at the initial lauch.
I tried to modifity the settings, from 'Automatic', to 5 minute, to 15 minutes, stopping Mail and starting again each time but it does not help.
Emails are fetched only after the lauch of Mail, and when I manually ask Mail to do it.
    It's really annoying.
I saw on French forums, that I'm not the only user reporting this, but I don't see many posts on the Apple forum with the exact same issue.
I don't know what to do to fix/find a workround for this problem.
If someone has any idea, I'm more than open to try it.

Try this workaround until Apple fixes it.
Copy this into a plain text file (i.e TextExit in plain text mode)
    Save as com.yourname.Checkmail.plist to ~/Library/LaunchAgents/
Log out and back in, or re-boot
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
    <plist version="1.0">
    <dict>

              </array>
              <key>StartInterval</key>
              <integer>60</integer>
    </dict>
    </plist>
This is set to check every minute (<integer>60</integer>), change to your needs (in seconds)

  • Fetching New Mail finished but the mail is not retrieved

Mail App 2.1 on Mac OS X 10.4.8
upgraded from previous mail versions (yes)
    One single POP mail account.
(17 messages in inBox, lots of messages in other folders)
    Problem One:
    When I click get Mail,
the Activity Viewer shows fetching new mail 8 of 11, 9, 10, 11. And then the viewer empties as if it's finished. But there is no new mail in my folders.
If I click Get Mail again, it repeats the same process.
Acts like it's successfully getting all the mail from the POP server but then no mail shows up, and I can repeat the process ad infinitum.
I have done the following without success:
    removed MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded2
Deleted my com.apple.mail.plist file and re-set up my POP account.
    Neither of these tricks worked.
    Problem Two:
I am no longer able to drag messages from the InBox to any of my folders.
I get the error message "The message XXX could not be moved to the Mailbox YYY"
    Problem Three:
I cannot save a message as a draft. I get the error message "The message could not be saved"
All three of these problems appeared simultaneously this morning after 10am.
Can anyone help me clean up my Mail 2.1?
    Thanks

Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, and making sure that there’s enough space available on the startup disk (a few GB, plus the space needed to make a backup copy of the Mail folder), try this:
    1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong, e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down. This is where all your mail is stored.
    3. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
    4. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be “imported”. Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index -- Mail says it’s “importing”, but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.

  • Chart: New data suddenly not appearing

    Hi
I have an Apex chart (Flash - 2D vertical bar) which summarises soume counts over each day.
Last 15 days, it worked fine. Suddenly it is not showing any new day's data!
The underlying SQL works fine (ie. fetches new data without issue) - only chart is not updating with new data.
I tried to increase width of the chart but still it not showing more than 15 bars.
    Any solution?
    Thanks
PS: I discovered that none of my Flash charts are showing more than 15 items on X axes!

    Hi,
There is a Maximum Rows field on the Chart Series definition page that is set as 15 by default. If you change this it should help.
    Jon.

  • Cannot add a new email account, and hence icloud account. When i go into Settings - Mail, accounts, calendars,  the option to add a new account cannot be clicked (ghosted). I also have iCloud Settings ghosted (unclickable). Cannot change in itunes also.

Cannot add a new email account, and hence i have no way of creating an iCloud account (very frustrating). I had the same problem with iOS 4.3 but i had no email account to create as i set both up when i bought the iPhone 4. After adding a company email and a gmail account (both wok perfectly) i noticed that the option to create more email accounts had been ghosted (unclickable). This didn't worry me at the time. However, iCloud needs me to create one in here so i can access the cloud which i desperately want the ability to do. When i go into Settings -> Mail, accounts, calendars,  the option to add a new account cannot be clicked (ghosted). I also have iCloud in the iPhone Settings ghosted (unclickable). I have same problem in itunes on Mac OSX. Surely restoring isn't the solution as i restored my iphone when changing from iOS 4.3 -> 5. Please help?

    Go to
    Settings,
    General,
Restrictions, type in your Restriction Password,
    Accounts, tick Allow Changes.
Press the back key a few times till you're back in Settings, you should see iCloud is now highlight able, now go to Mail Contacts and Calenders and add your email account as per norm.
    Hope this helps.
