Settings not taking?
Is anyone else having problems with settings not taking? I've had this with keywording a bunch of images and upon quitting Aperture 2.0 and restarting AP they were gone. Then had the same problem with image adjustment settings. Maddening to say the least.
i feel as if that is happening sometimes with image adjustment settings, but I still have no 'proof' of it. it's just a feeling i've got: "havn't I already adjusted this image!?".

Quite often my podcast subscription settings are not taking, that is, they do not sync properly to my iPhone. For example, the setting is set to remove played podcasts, but they are not removed. Usually, iTunes shows shows the podcast as played, but the check is not removed for syncing.
Any suggestions?i feel as if that is happening sometimes with image adjustment settings, but I still have no 'proof' of it. it's just a feeling i've got: "havn't I already adjusted this image!?".

Thumbnail Settings not taking effect
WCC 11.1.16.0
IBR installed
Outbound provider setup for IBR
Thumbnails requested for doc, docx etc.
I have added
ThumbNailWidth=240
ThumbNailHeight=240
into the config.cfg (For IBR and UCM) - ..\user_projects\domains\portal\ucm\cs\config\config.cfg
and ..\user_projects\domains\portal\ucm\ibr\config\config.cfg)
I have restarted IBR_server and UCM_server
On new checkins My Thumbnails are still coming out at 61x80 (the proper size for letter in 80x80 format)
Anyone have any ideas what I missed?Not sure if this is the issue but can you try
ThumbnailWidth=240
ThumbnailHeight=240
(N lowercase)
If you are using 11.1.1.6, why not use the Thumbnail conversion provided but the content server itself? Save you the hassle of the extra IBR servers and the settings.

Security settings not taking effect?
When I click the box to request a password on wake from sleep or screensaver, it doesn't take effect - I've tried rebooting and repairing permissions, but to no avail. I've also tried logging in as other users, still doesn't work.
any ideas?
edit with an update - will work in ANOTHER user account, but not MINE.
Message was edited by: Kristoffer Samuel Newsomshould I try deleting the preferences files for security and replace them with the ones from the other user account? Should I do the same with the security preference pane?

Importing Settings not taking effect
Under the Importing settings, for "On CD Insert:" the selections I make don't take effect. If I tell it to Import, no luck. If I tell it to Import and Eject, no luck. The settings are retained and show correctly the next time I open Preferences, but no action. What's the deal?
should I try deleting the preferences files for security and replace them with the ones from the other user account? Should I do the same with the security preference pane?

Office 2010 Language settings not taking effect
I am rolling out Windows 7 and Office 2010 to different locations around the world.
One thing I have noticed is that Office 2010 is defaulting to English (UK) in all of the offices we have around the world. I have checked the Default input language settings under Text services
and input languages and it is set correctly, i.e for the US this is set to English (United States). I have gone into word and checked File\Options\Language and under Choose editing languages the default is set to the Windows input language on the machine,
i.e for the US this is set to English US <default>. However in the bar across the bottom of Word, the language is set to English (UK) and spelling etc is all English UK. The only way I can change the language is to open a Word doc, type some characters
and then click on the English (UK) at the bottom of Word and then change is to English US. It then changes to English US at the bottom of Word, however when I close Word and open it again, the language is set back to UK.
What I am really wanting to do is control all this by Group policy so a US user gets US language in Word so they get US spellchecker and someone in the UK gets UK language in Word and UK spell
checker etc. As I said, group policy is setting the correct language for the machine, under Word the default is set to use the input language, under File\Options\Language the default editing language is set correctly (to the windows input language), but still
the language bar in Word defaults to English UK all the time.
Any help would be much appreciated.
ThanksPlease click on the English(US) at the bottom of Word, then appear dialogue box. Set English(US) as default.
Don’t tick the checkbox of option “detect language automatically”.
As is shown in the below graph.
Restart Word and check the result. Thanks.

HELP!: Canon Rebel XS Changing Settings Randomly and Not Taking Photos!!
PLEASE HELP! This is a very desperate attempt at reaching out for help before I THROW MY CAMERA AT THE WALL! Frustration level 1000 reached. The problem: I power up my Canon Rebel XS (purchased in 2009 and treated like my baby), point it at the subject matter, press the shutter button to take my beautiful photo, and all hell breaks loose! The camera decides to change all the settings, usually the shutter speed. When it's in full auto mode, the shutter speed changes between 3 or 4 different options (depending on the settings of the photo) and then it never releases, resulting in no photo. I've tried holding down the button and pressing quickly, neither work. So I've tried this in all settings: In Shutter Priority mode, the aperture changes randomly. In Aperture priority mode, (you guessed it!) shutter speed changes randomly. What changes in manual exposure mode? Exposure level... all on its own. OH -- I FORGOT TO MENTION, as they change, they BLINK! Whatever setting is randomly switching itself, it blinks. As if to taunt me and grab my attention -- "Hey, you! This is why I'm not taking the picture! HAHA!" So honestly, if anyone has any insight, I would be EXTREMELY grateful. But I'm pretty sure it's possessed by an evil spirit intent on seeing me rip all of my hair out. >.<
What if we control the shooting conditions? If you go outside on a sunny day, there would certainly be enough light for the camera to focus and take a shot. Have you tried this? I ask this because if I attempt to take a photo in a situation where there is simply not enough light, the camera will do precisely what you are describing... it has some limits to ISO, shutter speed, and aperture that it cannot exceed (it could in manual control, but will not in the auto or semi-auto modes.) I've noticed that my camera doesn't want to exceed certain shutter speed limits, ISO limits, and of course the lens constrains the aperture values available. Also, if the lens auto-focus is enabled and the camera is in "One Shot" focus mode (the default) it will not take an image until it can lock focus on at least one AF point. Give the camera enough light... and all of these problems go away. Shoot in Manual mode and all of these problems (except focus) also go away. If the camera is not moving (e.g. on a solid tripod) and the subject is not moving (e.g. a still scene) then you can take an exposure as long as necessary to get a shot -- but you may have to manually focus the lens if the lighting is poor and the subject lacks adequate contrast.

Zepo wrote:
My iMac has been overwhelmed almost since I bought it new. After some digging the guiness bar suggested its my Aperture library being on the same

Having a single internal hard drive overfilled (drives slow as they fill) is very likely contributing to your problems, but IMO "my Aperture library being on the same internal Tera byte drive as my operating system" is very unlikely to be contributing to your problems. In fact the Library should stay on an underfilled (roughly, for speed, I would call ~half full "underfilled") internal drive, not on the Drobo.
Instead build a Referenced-Masters workflow with the Library and OS on an internal drive, Masters on the Drobo, OS 10.6.8 (there have been issues reported with OS 10.7 Lion). Keep Vault backup of the Library on the Drobo, and of course back up all Drobo data off site.
No matter what you do with i/o your C2D Mac is not a strong box for Aperture performance. If you want to really rock Aperture move to one of the better 2011 Sandy Bridge Macs, install 8 GB or more of RAM and build a Referenced-Masters workflow with the Library and OS on an internal solid state drive (SSD).
Personally I would prefer investing in a Thunderbolt RAID rather than in a Drobo but each individual makes his/her own network speed/cost decisions. The Drobo should work OK for referenced Masters even though i/o is limited by the Firewire connection.
Do not forget the need for off site backup. And I suggest that in the process of moving to your new setup it is most important to get the data safely and redundantly copied and generally best to disregard how long it may take.

cant update apps on my mac or iphone4. asks for password for another account i had on a dell notebook. either i forgot the pass word or its not taking it . i can download apps and music. how can i update apps on my mac and iphone 4?
I had the same problem today and was able to resolve it without having to do a restore or reset. The problem had something to do with my mail accounts. The upgrade reset my mail settings, switching both my gmail and my .mac mail to "archive all mail". I went into the General Settings, disabled that setting, and resynced the phone. The "other" storage allottment dropped back down to less than a gig.
Before you restore or reset, I would try that first. -
Group Policy - User Rights Assignments not taking effect on workstation`
Novell 5.1 SP7. ZenWorks 3.2 sp3. Windows XP Pro workstations.
In Group Policy, (Computer Configuration/Windows Settings/Security
Settings/Local Policies/User Rights Assignment), I have added Power Users to
the "Load and Unload device drivers" policy. However this setting is not
taking effect on my Windows XP workstations. My DLU policy for users is
configured to have the users members of the "Users" and "Power Users" groups
on the local PC.
Other parts of Group Policy (Computer Policy/Administrative Templates) are
taking effect on the workstation, so I'm wondering if the problem I am
having is related to Security Settings only.
I enabled Group Policy logging on the Windows XP workstation and include it

Changes to php.ini not taking effect
I'm running Leopard 10.5.8 with the Apple-supplied versions of PHP (5.2.10) and Apache (2.2.11). Changes made to the /etc/php.ini file are not taking effect after stop/start of Apache. phpinfo() and shell command php -i confirm the 'status quo'. The php.ini file permissions are 444 with root/wheel ownership. It was copied from the php.ini.default file that came with the php distribution. Here's what I'm trying to change - seems pretty like this should be pretty basic stuff:
include_path = ".:/usr/local/some_directory"
// Original entry in the php.ini.default file was commented out
// The directory '/usr/local/some_directory' exists
// phpinfo() only shows include_path = .:
magicquotesgpc = Off
// Original entry in the php.ini.default value was 'On'
// phpinfo() shows magicquotesgpc = Off
I've been all over the php.net website and cannot identify my error. Shouldn't the changes to the php.ini file should be interpreted immediately after restarting Apache?
Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Suggestions for fixing this malfunction would be greatly appreciated. I know I can hard code workarounds into my PHP code but that really defeats the whole purpose of even having a php.ini file....Was able to successfully implement these changes on a different Mac OSX 10.5.8 system. Different architecture (1st system is MBP, 2nd system is MB) although each system has all software updates installed and is up-to-date. Copied php.ini file from MB to MBP and problematic settings were corrected. Ran /developer/applications/utilities/filemerge.app to check for differences between the two php.ini files. Found one (line 305):
Failing entry: error_reporting = E_ALL
Working entry: error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE
I took out E_NOTICE to help with debugging as per instructions from php.net/manual/en/errorfunc.configuration.php

Delta upload not taking place properly
Hello Everyone,
I am trying to load data from R/3 to BW.
My data target is ODS.
For the first infopkg i m doing "initialize delta update".
Now i am making changes in particular field in R/3-say i am changing the name of the proj from ABC TO XYZ.
Now I m scheduling delta infopkg.But its not displaying the change. i hv even added new record in R/3 side and then tried wid delta infopkg but its still not taking the update.
I have defined Generic delta for my datasrc.delta specific field is "PROJID" and under settings i have checked "New status for changed records".
plz help.Hi,
The SAP help on this DS recommends these steps
When you extract the documents for the first time, select the complete posting period.
SAP recommend that you carry out initialization and full upload in a number of steps in order to create smaller packages. To improve the performance, select an update via the PSA. The data is extracted in accordance with the selection criteria. In this case, the posting date of the documents is used as the selection criteria.
Initialize all future posting dates, even if the enhanced selection area does not yet contain any documents. The new documents are automatically entered by delta processing.
Carry out delta processing at regular intervals. We recommend that large utility companies carry out delta processing on a daily basis. Only documents with closed reconciliation keys can be processed.

I tried to update my iPad to iOS 7.0.2. and all I have now is screen asking to be connected to iTunes. Message tells me iPad is in 'recovery mode' and recommends 'restore' but that I would lose all data as this would restore factory settings. Any suggestions?

Phone busy/not taking calls
My Xperia Z2 seems to be busy and not taking calls every once in a while, I hear people complaining my phone has been busy while they try to call me even tho it shouln't be. Its possible that this happens when the phone is recharging. Anyone else have the same problem or knows what I can do?
Try settings-apps-all-smart connect,clear data.Check if the same occurs.

Siri not taking request after updating.
Siri not taking request after updating to iOS7.It is now 4 days, siri is still not taking requests. Tried all the suggestions discussed, no luck yet. Is there a way to check wether the problem is from my wi-fi settings? But siri was working fine before the update. When this is going to be fixed?
Fix:
After trying the entire trouble shoot discussed, I finally could fix siri not taking request issue after iOS7 update. This is what I did; I just changed my wi-fi network and connected my device to another wi-fi network (my friend’s) where siri is working without any issue. My siri started taking request in the new wi-fi network and also in my network after changing back. I am not a computer geek, but hope this might help. Just try to change the wi-fi network.
