Settings to upload Quicktime X files to YouTube

To upload a file to YouTube, I believe that the following file settings are  best: Compression - H.264, Frame Rate - 30, Data Rate & Key Frames - automatic, Frame Reordering - unchecked, Constant Bit Rate, Audio - AAC Format, Internet streaming - Fast Start.  However, I am unsure about Bit Rate Target - 128? and kHz - 48.00? these are the default settings.  Are these the best choices to create the best quality YouTube video?

I have, it works but there are quite a few choices and I am not tech savy enough to know which combo works best.

  • Determining pre-existing compression settings in a Quicktime mpg file

I am in the process of editing a promotional reel. Some of the footage I have been given is supposedly uncompressed QT files, other files may have been compressed. I would like to know if there is an easy way to determine whether the files have already been compressed and if so, what settings or codec have been assigned to the video and audio. When I bring a file into the batch window and then preview, I get frame rate info (25fps), running time, and frame size (720 x 576). Is this everything I need to know? Should I be importing to FCP to get this info? Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Hi,
Open your clips in Quicktime player and open the movie inspector (apple I, or window show movie inspector) This will show you the video and audio codecs frame rate data rate etc.

  • Best practice for exporting a .mov file for YouTube

I am using FCPX 10.0.9 with a MacBook Pro. We are needing to upload relatively small-size high school football videos as .mov files to YouTube for my newspaper. I have been choosing the Export File option with the setting set to h.264, exporting the file to the desktop and then uploading that .mov file to YouTube. (I do not have Compressor installed on this Mac.) The other night the first of three files done like this uploaded fine, but the next two just kept processing and processing at YouTube and never finished. The following morning the files processed fine. Any thoughts about why ths might be happening?
And would it be better to export in another file format --.mp4 files -- instead that might cause less of a problem and which of the export options would be best?
    Thanks,
    Douglas

Am I correctly uploading a .mov file to YouTube by using the Export File command with the export setting set to .h264 then if I wish a reasonable size file for upload?
Sure. There are many ways to get videos to YT and yours is a reasonable approach.
"Reasonable size" should be thought of in terms of upload time. Again, YT will re-compress whatever you give it. So depending on how quickly you need to get it up on the Web, it's better to upload files that have more information than less information. (To that end, some folks upload very large Pro Res files; they also have a lot of patience.)
Just to let you know, the majority of FCPX users follow one of two workflows:
    1) Share>You Tube option and have FCP handle the uploading;
    2) Export as a Pro Res Master File; bring the master file into Compressor and apply the user's custom settings; upload using YT's uploader.
FWIW, I prefer the second workflow.

YouTube is asking me to adjust my quicktime settings to upload a video faster. How do i adjust quicktime settings?

    Hi,
OK. Following instructions, I've uninstalled the old Flash Player and installed the right one, and videos are now playing. Thanks for pointing me to the other posts on this site. YouTube and other videos are now playing
Some of the videos still play jerkily (they don't stream evenly). A few stream evenly once they've been allowed to buffer fully. (I think I'm using these terrms correctly.) Is this solely caused by low bandwidth, or is there something—an adjustment of some kind—that I can do with Flash Player to have online videos stream evenly, even from the moment I start them?
As I mentioned, to bypass this uneven streaming while watching online, I download the videos and watch them usually using Quicktime Player 7.6.4. Still, they don't always play evenly, but for the most part do.
I've just tested bandwidth and I'm told:
    5.63 Bbps Download speed
    0.63 Mbps Upload speep

  • Uploading iMovie file or Quicktime file to YouTube

Is it possible to upload my iMovie file (which is in Quicktime) to YouTube? It's about 4 1/2 minutes. When I tried, I got the message: "Failed, .mov file empty" ----or something like that. Step by step help would be great - I'm not very proficient.

You don't need to post a question more than once, it just gets confusing for people trying to respond.
I posted a reply in your other topic.

  • QuickTime Movie File-Uploads on iWeb but no playback on the internet

    Hello, Forum Techies,
Always trying to go beyond and want a movie clip on my website,  but I may have met my match
I have the following QuickTime Movie file uploaded to the web page as noted below.
The file extension is MVI_038-#3-13. The file size is 663.8 Mbs
The website space is 1 GB using 10 Mbs upload speed.
The movie clip does not play on the website.
Question arising: I believe the space is sufficient on the website, but not sure if it this is a internet speed issue? I have other movies mounted successfully on another website, but their file size is not a huge and the webspace is not as much.
Therefore, I am curious to know if it is an internet speed issue?
Here is the URL for the page that I have included the movie clip:
    http://thebigbenmemorialtrail.ca/Backgrounder_Trail_Scouting.html
It's a well visited site internationally and because it is a major project in our County, documenting the construction of a new trail is an interesting feature to include on this website.
Hope there is a solution. And, YouTube is not an alternative because for some strange reason I cannot get signed on no matter what efforts have been made with Google and I am not able to find a channel that applies to this kind of a movie, which is not entertainment, musical, etc. It's an information-based movie.
    Thanks!

    This is the movie :
    http://thebigbenmemorialtrail.ca/Media/MVI_0368-%233-13.MOV
It's not an extension, it's the filename. Sanatize it.
    Size = 632MB (Megabyte)
    663.8Mbs = Megabits per seconds = speed
    Videosize = 1280 x 720px
Filesize after download = 10.3MB (download stops at this size)
    Nobody will wait for this.
Resize you movie to something smaller ie. width x height = smaller filesize.
    Use common sense.

I am having some huge problems with my colorspace settings. Every time I upload my raw files from my Canon 5D mark II or 6D the pics are perfect in color. That includes the back of my camera, the pic viewer on my macbook pro, and previews. They even look normal when I first open them in photoshop. I will edit, save, and then realize once i've sent it to myself to test the color is WAY off. This only happens in photoshop. I've read some forums and have tried different things, but it seems to be making it worse. PLEASE HELP! Even viewing the saved image on the mac's pic viewer is way off once i've edited in photoshop. I am having to adjust all my colors by emailing myself to test. Its just getting ridiculous.

Check the color space in camera raw, the options are in the link at the bottom of the dialog box. Then when saving make sure you save it to the srgb color space when sending to others. Not all programs understand color space and or will default to srgb. That won't necessarily mean it will be accurate, but it will put it in the ballpark. Using save for web will use the srgb color space.

  • I'm having problems uploading files (to YouTube & SendSpace) with Firefox. Both work fine using IE. Any idea what the problem could be?

When I try to upload to YouTube, things appear to be working, but every time it either ends up telling me the upload has been interrupted or it shows that the upload finished & then the file is nowhere to be found in my account. When I switched to IE, the upload worked fine the first time. When I tried to upload to SendSpace, I "browsed" for a file to upload, selected the file, & then nothing happened at all. Again, when I switched to IE, the upload worked just fine. I imagine there is some setting in Firefox that I need to change, but I have no idea what it is & can't figure it out by looking through the menus I see. I need some help!

Jean, Thanks for your answer, I've tried checking the invoke node that calls the "Run VI" method but it doesnt return an error any of the times its called even that the Vi that it called is still running. I also tried your solution of changing the object's "Run" method to a template but that doesnt work either. I can't seem to post the sample progam that demonstrates the problem, is it possible to send it to you by email, contact me at [email protected]

  • Error uploading 100+ Mb file with quota/limit settings adjusted

    Hi,
We have a SharePoint Site, 2003 on IIS 6.
We recently encountered an issue where uploading file larger than 100Mb will give us an error message, "An expected error occured".
We tried uploading within 50Mb files and its successful.
Got googling for a resolution and found some that might have this issue resolved, on
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925083
We have modified the settings as per mentioned recommendations but still facing same issue. Here's what we did:
Did we miss something out? or any other cofig needed to be changed?
May we know as well what are the other configs/settings that are related regarding the issue we encounter?
    Many thanks in advance,

Looks like you've missed the Web Application Settings for maximum file upload.  Your screenshot suggests that you're on SharePoint 2007.

  • Combine QuickTime-mov files

I have QuickTime pro and so I can combine Quicktime mov-files. It is however
rather time-consuming so that adding small films for example twenty is
a work of long duration. Is there an alternative?

I was experimenting on different formats (they are converted to mp4, m4v and mov files before uploading to Youtube) at the beginning before I settled on .mov files. My Macbook only have 80 gigs so I want to preserve all of the clips I did in DVDs before I erase them from the hard drive before importing/starting a new tape. All of them were captured using a Sony Digital 8 camcorder.

  • I have adobe premiere element 9. I have never been able to upload a clear video to youtube, always a pixel mess. the video is great before, crap once downloaded. I never found anyone to help me...Thanks in advance

Hello, I have adobe premiere element 9. I have never been able to upload a clear video to youtube. Great before, a pixel mess once uploaded. I have try all the different set up, some are a bit better but far from being nice to watch. I have a gopro, movie are taken in HD and a fairly new panasanic video, also HD. If I upload straight from the gopro movie (not using adobe) the video is great on youtube. I try to save the finished video (from adobe) on my computer, then upload it (not using adobe) still a pixel mess. I am not an expert but I have seen some nice and clear video on youtube and I would love to be able to do the same. I recently downloaded "handbrake" and make my finished video through it...still a pixel mess. I am not sure what to do, something maybe with my set up, the rendering....I have no idea.....
Any help will be very appreciated
    Thanks in advance

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 9 running on?
Pick a video source and let us stick with it through the troubleshooting.
What are the properties of the source file
    Video Compression
    Audio Compression
    Frame Size
    Frame Rate
    Interlaced or Progressive
    File Extension
    Pixel Aspect Ratio
    Duration
What have you been setting as the project preset for this video?
What is the file size and duration of this upload to YouTube from within the Premiere Elements project?
If you export the Timeline to a file saved to the computer hard drive and then upload that file to YouTube at the YouTube web site, what are
all the Premiere Elements export settings for the saving of the file for uploading later to YouTube?
That is a lot to be asking. But the answers will be in the details.
Please review and consider and then we will decide what next to solve this issue.
    Thanks.

  • Dw cs4 ftp - not uploading modified dependant files?

Hi, Ive made some changes to my css and worked on a few images, just over-writing them so they still have the same name.
I then uploaded the modified files but it still displays the old images and doesnt show the changes in the ccs?
Ive even uploaded the entire site again with no result :<
ps: Im working from a template, and all my pages are child pages from the template, all sharing the same css. Ivé cloaked the template but the css file doesnt have a red line through it.. dont know if this would affect anything.
    reagards
Edit: Ive even tried to delete the style sheets and images by pressing delete in local and remote split view, and then re-upload them to no avail.
Does the host server refresh only so often or something?
    bleh.. please help

Ive even deleted all the files I uploaded on the server and re-uploaded them and still, it doesnt load using the modified ccs, calling up the old images and not applying the changes I made to a menu.
The only thing I can think of is that its uploading them to a new folder if it is able to call up images ive deleted but I havent changed and ftp settings so why would this be.
I also inserted a image, not related to the css and that gets called up... so im really lost?

  • How do i export a sequence to an uncompressed quicktime .mov file?

    hello everyone.
    I have a little problem.
I have a 20 secs sequence that needs to be exported from my FCP 6.0.3 to UNCOMPRESSED quicktime .mov file. Its HDV footage.
These are the steps I've taken.
I go to FILE>EXPORT>QUICK TIME MOVIE. I have all the settings to current setting, and I have checked the "Make Movie Self-Contained" option.
When I'm done exporting, I get a .mov file, but its a Final Cut Pro file, not a quicktime file.
This means I can't open in a PC, where I have to do some compositing.
I would really appreciate if anyone can give me some advise or tips on how to get my export .mov file to be a quicktime file uncompressed .
    Thanks
    -r

The Uncompressed 4:2:2 codecs only come with Final Cut Pro. Two ways:
    1) In FCP, go to File > Export > QuickTime Conversion. Set format to QuickTime Movie and click Options. Go to Settings under Video and set Compression Type to None. Put all the sliders at maximum. Click Ok, deselect Prepare for Internet Streaming and click Ok. Export the file.
    2) This is the one I personally prefer, as it will be compatible with any system, even if they don't have QuickTime. Go to File > Export > QuickTime Conversion. Under Format, select Image Sequence. Go to Options, set Format to TIFF and enter the FPS. Click Export and you will have a series of sequentially-numbered images that most compositing apps will treat like one big movie clip.

  • Way to find out settings for an encoded mpeg file

Not sure if this is possible, but is there a way for compressor to tell me what the quality settings were for an mpeg file I already encoded? I just want to know what the avg and max bit rates were for the file.

If you changed the settings of a preset and didn't save them, then I don't think you can. You can see what the data rate of the file is by looking at it in quicktime (CMD+i), but Compressor will only tell you what preset you used to encode your file (in the History window).
If you saved the settings, you can look in the preset.
