Settings To Use In Premier With 720 15 frames p/s Video

I have a video shot on a webcam on 720 resolution and 15 frames per second. When I import it into premier I can't find a 720 setting at 15 frames. Suggestions?

So here's the issue folks. I recorded a 2 hour webcast video on a Logitec c525 webcam using their video capture software. Initially I was having issues with Premiere importing the .WMV file, getting a Header Error message that lead to me to believe the file was corrupted.
My next step was to try importing the file to a software other than Premiere, and I found Videopad Editor by NCH Software as a freeware program that I could try. Imagine my surprise when the freeware program had zero issues accepting the file! I then used Videopad to export the .WMV file along with the .MP3 audio track to an .MP4 file. I synced the video and audio up and waited the 3 hours it took to export, hoping that the end product would then work in Premiere so that I could continue with post-production.
The .MP4 file came out perfect. The video and audio synced up on the money, and Premiere would accept the file. So I opened a new project in premiere, and when I imported the file and placed it on the timeline I got a message that the sequence settings and that of the file were off. I opted to change the settings to match the file, and when I went to view the preview...the audio and video were off, and continued to get more and more out of sync as the video went along. Back to the drawing board.
I imported the .MP4 into Videopad, and once again the freeware program had no problem whatsoever. The audio and video synced up just fine. So, I then guessed that the issue had to be the intial settings I was using in Premiere. I looked at the properties of the .MP4 and discovered that it was recorded at 15 frame/ps. That would explain the sync issues if Premiere was trying to run it at 24 or 25 fps. So I created a custom setting, since there is not a default setting the handle 15 fps, and tried again.
Again I was confronted with a message that the file properties did not match the sequence settings I was using. This time I tried both ways. One time keeping the exisiting settings, and another time changing them to match the file. Both times I encountered the exact same sync issues.
That's where I am. I have an .MP4 file that plays as is perfectly fine, and a freeware video editing software that I don't want to use but is giving me zero issues versus the software I have invested several hundred dollars into that is not working. Hence the frustration. Here are the screenshots for the file properties, and the custom settings in Premiere that I am using:
I am sure this is user error, but I have tried a lot of things on my own up to this point to solve the issue.

  • We just switched to a jetpack for wifi and within 24 hours used 1.8GB with only typical web browsing, no videos and two Kindle downloads. What's going on??? Why is it using so much data?

    We had a 5GB plan with an air card for the past 4 years and rarely went over our data plan but wanted wifi. We were told the jetpack was the way to go. But within 24 hours of setting it up we went through almost 20% of our monthly allowance! We didn't use the computer any differently than we usually do and only used the wifi for 2 Kindle downloads and then disconnected the device from wifi (verified on the jetpack) yet our usage is going through the roof. I will blow through my 10GB in a week at this rate. Very frustrated and don't know where to look for "leaks." help? Any ideas? I don't seem to have any devices drawing from wifi that I don't know about.

    EXACT SAME THING HERE but VERIZON DENIES and calls us LIARS......
    HAHAHAHAHHAHA  Verizon DENIES even hearing about such issues. DENIES even knowing the forums are full of this issue but then tells me that those who post on forums are LIARS. Accused me of lying then talked about how much integrity verizon has. HAHAHAHAHA what a joke. Expect unexplainable overages. Expect verizon to continue stealing until you either a) fulfill your contract and escape or b) cancel and pay the termination fee (I suggest canceling as it will be cheaper to pay these (removed) their extortion than to continue to pay overages THAT DO NOT EXIST) You are NOT USING the data, the data is MISCALCULATED/MISREPORTED or verizon is just jacking with everyone to increase revenue, increase stock value,increase bonuses. RICO anyone? WHERE ARE THE LAWYERS WITH THE CLASS ACTION ON BEHALF of those of us stuck in our verizon (removed)??

  • Using PHP to Create a Poster Frame from a Video

    I have a PHP script which I am using to grab a poster frame from an arbitrary video ($video). Currently it breaks the video into all its frames, counts the files, and grabs the middle one...
    system("mplayer -vo png $video");
    system("mv " . sprintf("%08d.png", floor(system("ls -1 | wc -l") / 2)) . " /home/.");
    The issue with the code above is that, until completion, it fills up a large portion of the hard drive on the server. I know I can figure out the number of the middle frame with the code below, but I do not know of a way to pull out the middle frame without pulling out all the other frames too...
    $fps = system("x=$(mplayer -msglevel all=0 -identify -vo null -frames 0 $video 2>&1 | grep ID_VIDEO_FPS) ; echo ${x#*=}");
    $length = system("x=$(mplayer -msglevel all=0 -identify -vo null -frames 0 $video 2>&1 | grep ID_LENGTH) ; echo ${x#*=}");
    $midframe = floor($fps * $length / 2);
    Does anyone have any ideas? At the very least, is there a way I can read each frame but only save the middle one?

    tony5429 wrote:Yeah; I may end up going with a solution like that. I had hoped to be able to seek to a specific frame. Really I'd like the script to be very robust - for example, if I pass it a 30-fps video that is one second long, I'd like to get the #15 frame...
    Google told me mplayer can't seek to a specific frame, but does 1/100th of a second seeks. I'm not sure how precise the duration estimates are.

  • Making the move to 16:9, but totally confused about what settings to use!

    Hi, It seems to me that since all new TV's being sold are wide-screen, it is time for me to stop making videos in 4:3. But I am completely stumped by the procedure to work in 16:9. I have shot my footage in standard definition, 16:9. The final product will be a DVD created in DVD Studio Pro. I would like the picture to fill a widescreen TV, and.... when played on a 4:3 screen, I would like it to fill the width of the screen and be letterboxed on top and bottom.
    I think that I am correct to capture this footage into Final Cut Express, using Easy Setup, and choosing 'Anamorphic'. At least that gives me a 16:9 screen in FCE.
    But can someone tell me what settings to use in DVDSP when I when I import that video? I tried to import Anamorphic video into DVDSP, and went to Preferences, and chose 16:9 Letterbox. I got a wide screen, but my footage came in as a squished 4:3 image. I'm totally at a loss, and would very much appreciate any help you can give.
    Thanks very much, Bob

    Yes, Anamorphic is the Easy Setup you'd want to use in FCE.
    When I say it's distorted, that means anamorphic is recorded to tape squished (much like how it imports into DVDSP for you) and that the format demands being unsqueezed during playback. Sorry, if I scared you.
    The encoding settings are also available in DVDSP's Preferences under the Encoding tab.
    Also - and this is the single most important element of this workflow - in addition to setting the default Display Mode to 16:9 Letterbox, be sure to confirm that this is not overridden (for whatever reason) after you've placed your clips onto a track. So check the Inspector and make sure Display mode is correct. (It's been known to happen once in a blue moon and, if not readjusted, will mean that your DVD will not display correctly on any proper setup)

    No, nothing will prevent the computer from going to sleep when you close its display except third-party hacks that are designed to do exactly that. I strongly advise against using any of those, as they may interfere with successful entry into clamshell mode (and they carry other downside risks as well). Just wait until the computer is asleep (with its sleep light pulsing), then press any key on the keyboard. It sounds as though your setup is working as it's designed to do.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Go to Settings>Game Center and sign out and sign back in
    - Reset all settings
    Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
    All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • I am trying to print a color photo on my MacBook Pro from iPhoto (not using Photoshop) using Epson 2200 printer, and everything I do in the Color Matching and Print Settings results in a photo with a pink cast to it. What am I doing wrong?

    I am trying to print a color photo on my MacBook Pro from iPhoto (not using Photoshop) using Epson 2200 printer, and everything I do in the Color Matching and Print Settings results in a photo with a pink cast to it. What am I doing wrong?

    Have you checked the ink cartridges and made sure the nozzles are clear? Are you able to print from outside of iPhoto with the correct color?
    Try the following: make temporary copy of the library and do the following:
    1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
    2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
    3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
    NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • What are the best sequence presets and settings to use in FCE for the best resolution with the least amount on strain on computer?

    Hello!
    Can someone please help me figure out the best settings to use in order to obtain the best resolution in FCE4 for a television show that is going to be sent out on full size Sony DVcam tapes, with 4:3 aspect ration and audio output at 48kHz? I am currently working with mixed media sources in Final Cut Express, and I am wondering what the best settings (presets and preferences) are, in order to provide the HIGHEST resolution possible, while putting the least amount of strain on my computer system?
    I am importing mini DV-standard definition footage and still photos (from Canon Rebel camera, HD CMOS Canon camcorder that records in 1440x1080 at 48 kHz, and cell phone photos). For voiceovers I use the tools in FCE.
    I use Voltaic (which I use thanks to recommendations from Apple discussion boards, love it!)  to convert the footage from the HD CMOS-Canon HD VIXIA (HG 20) camera, and then I am using print to video to output onto Sony DVcam tapes (full size). This is for delivery for a television network that broadcasts in Standard Definition, so I need to produce the highest resolution and best quality possible that also puts the least amount of stress on my computer system.
    If anyone has any recommendations, help, or sources that can help me answer this question I would be greatly appreciative.
    Thank you!
    Susan Kayne

    This is happening because your video clip properties do not match your sequence settings.  This is always a problem when you try to insert video from multiple camcorders/cameras (that use different video codecs, frame sizes & rates) in a single sequence.
    It will help a lot if you provide more specifics - what FCE easy setup did you use to create your sequence?  For your DV footage, are you using standard 4:3 DV or anamorphic 16:9 DV clips?
    If you plan to export to standard def (DV/DVCAM) and are mixing DV from a miniDV camcorder, stills, cell phone images and AVCHD then I would suggest that you use the DV NTSC easy setup for your sequence.  Use MPEG Streamclip or similar utility to convert your non-DV video (your AVCHD video) to QuickTime/Apple DV-DVCPRO NTSC.   Then all your video will match your sequence settings.  Yes, you will have to crop the AVCHD footage to 4:3 and you can do that in MPEG Streamclip.

  • How to use XDCAM files with Premier 4 Trial

    According to everything I have read, using XDCAM files with Premier 4 is easy. It just works. However, it doesn't with me.
    For starters, when I create a new project, there are no XDCAM presets, despite it stating there are in the various documents I have read.
    If I either try to import a file directly or copy it to the hard drive and then import it, I get:
    Error Message
    The importer reported a generic error
    Not very helpful.
    This is a trial version of Premier to try to establish if this product is any good. I did try to contact Adobe but they say they don't support trial users. Not very helpful. Since Adobe are obviously not very interested in selling their products, is there anyone else out there whop can answer this or should I just use Final Cut Pro instead (well if Adobe are not interested in helping a potential customer, what chance is there of being helpful once they have your money???)

    As far as I am concerned, editing XDCAM EX files with CS4 - I have yet to edit XDCAM (HD) files - is as easy as editing DV(CAM) material on my i7 Extreme machine with Vista Ultimate and 12 Gig of RAM.
    I am also pleased to report that the audio bug that beset CS3 when editing XDCAM EX files namely, audio cutting out randomly, is a thing of the past.
    The whole CS4 Suite (including Premiere) has been running very smoothly on my (beefy) machine.

  • The answers I saw to how to find a missing settings icon start with going to settings to use search.

    How can one go to the settings icon to start search if it's not there? Is there another way to get there?

    You don't need access to Settings to use search.
    See: Spotlight Search.

    HI everybody i want to ask if you come me in help, i want to draw paths but when i use stroke options with pen or brush settings i loose quality when i zoom in , can someone help me with pen settings???

    The work path is a vector object, and infinitely scalable, but when you stroke it, Photoshop lays pixels on a layer that follow the path.  These pixels are raster based and can not be scaled without loosing quality.  You do have options.  If you want to make the raster layer bigger, transform the work path and stroke it again.  Or work at a higher resolution in the first place.
    Incidentally, you can't stroke a Path with the Pen, because it is a Vector based tool, and stroking is a raster based function.
