Settings window malfunction

After a fresh install of Snow Leopard 10.6.1 and Aperture 2.1.4 my settings window inside Aperture does not work any more. On the first opening it runs normal, but doesn't show the location of the default library in the first "general" tab. After closing Aperture, restarting and opening settings again the window that opens, only has a size of 4 pixels wide and 65 pixels height, but with the usual shadow behind. The only way to solve it is to delete the "com.apple.Aperture.plist" in "lIbrary". But it helps only once. Again after one opening of "settings" next time the window is only 4 x 65 pixel small.
Is anybody else here with this experience? Thank you!

I could solve the problem. For anybody who needs the solution in the future:
Flexibits Cameras System Preferences caused the trouble. First I deleted Cameras.prefPane inside Library > PreferencePanes and its settings inside Library > Preferences. Then I deleted com.appleAperture.plist inside Library > Preferences, opened Aperture and made my settings again (especially the one which sets the preferred program after plugin a camera to Aperture). After closing Aperture I installed Flexibits Cameras System Preferences again, switched preferences in Aperture to opening of cameras.app and now everything works fine.

Premiere Pro CS4 "Export Settings" window does not show up.

I've run into a new problem with Premiere Pro CS4. Basically, when I select "File > Export > Media" my Export Settings window doesn't show up. If I click on the Premiere window I hear the beeping sound and nothing happens, if I hit Enter the Export Data window pops up and then Media Encoder opens. So, it seems that my Export Settings window is still open but I can't see it and make the necessary setting changes. It does not appear to be minimized and I can not locate it on my desktop anywhere. This is really frustrating because I was able to see the Export Settings window just a few weeks ago when I was exporting my last project. I've tried changing my screen resolutions but that didnt reveal the Export Settings window.
Does anyone know what is going on here and, more importantly, how I can fix it? I am really stuck here and am working against a deadline. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

I had tried all sorts of stuff trying to get everything onto my #1 monitor, with desktop & workspace resets, resizing my display, etc. After reading and printing your post,

and then pressing the left arrow and watching my Export window slide into view, I was laughing so hard, that I was tearing up. It would have been a month waiting for my second monitor to get repaired to get to see what was still being displayed on this ghost monitor. Each week, I video and edit our church's service and then post three versions (Windows Media Player, Ipod-MP4, MP3 Audio) of it to our web site. I would have been four weeks behind were it not for your post.

Windows 8.1 settings window and other apps automatically minimize/cannot be selected.

Whenever I try and change my settings by going through the usual charms menu-> Change PC Settings, the instant the settings window comes up it disappears. I try bringing it up from the taskbar and the same thing happens: it seems to maximize then just disappears. I can't switch to it, only close it. This applies to any app in Windows including Sports, News, etc.

This is the command you should try to enter
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register
$EnvystemRoot\ImmersiveControlPanel\AppxManifest.xm
The restore point was safety precaution, so it something when wrong you would have a good restore point to return to. As you have one that was before the issue started, I would keep and use that one.
Here is a link to a Window.microsoft.com answer to assist you. Cannot use Windows 8 apps or get to PC Settings!
If the issue remains, I would do a Refresh Your PC to Resolve Problems (Windows 8). This will reinstall the original OS.
Now try doing your update again.

If this has not helped I would do a full factory recovery. Here is a link to System Recovery / Backup / Restore. There are links on the page to guide you through doing a recovery and restoring your files if you opted to do the backup.

Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

Help, I lost all the songs on my iPod when I deleted a few songs from my iTunes Library, checked the box titled "Replace all items when Autofilling" in my Autofill Settings window, and then tried to Autofill. Note that I do not purchase songs from iTunes, but rather I rip songs off my own cd's and then transfer the mp3 files to iTunes. And after I transfer mp3 files from my pc to iTunes and then Autofill, I generally delete those files from my pc.
I can still see the songs in my iTunes Library, but not on my iPod. Is there a way that I can salvage them and get them back on my iPod?

Well you will have to wait to connect you ipod to the orignal computer and it will put all your songs back on to it.

Adobe Media Encoder Export Settings Window Dimensions Problem

Any help on this would be appreciated: I'm on a macbook pro, osx 10.6, using CS4 Web Premium. I used to have an external monitor hooked up which had much higher resolution, so when using Adobe Media Encoder I'd click the Settings button on a video to get the Export Settings window, then stretched the Export Settings window to be the size of my external monitor. Now, I'm just using my laptop, and the export settings window does not have the resize buttons at top left to adjust it back to the size of my laptop, and the bottom third of the export settings window is getting cut off so I can't see the cancel/ok buttons etc.
I've tried re-installing media encoder (via reinstalling flash using the CDs) to try to 'reset' the window sizes, didn't fix the problem.
If anyone knows of any other preferences or something I could delete to fix this, I'd be one thankful dude.

Yes, I was getting the same response. It means Adobe is not using OS native windows (shame on them!).I just tried something with CS4 that worked, though. Try this:
Quit Media Encoder
Go to UserHomeDirectory > Library > Preferences > Adobe > Adobe Media Encoder > 4.0 and delete the files called 'AMEPrefs.xml' and 'AppPrefs.xml'.
Then restart Media Encoder. For me, this reset the window size and placement. I tried moving the Export Settings window down so half of it was off the bottom of the screen. Once I deleted these files and restarted, the window was smaller and repositioned.

It says that Adobe programs are "trouble" programs, that they probably won't resize, but they should at least move. If nothing else, maybe you can move the window to a negative y value (up) so that the resize handle is visible, then move it back down so the header bar is visible again...

IMovie 6.0.4 - photo settings window - gone!

The photo settings window in iMovie 6 does not appear, nor can I figure out how to activate it. So I'm stuck with the Ken Burns settings of some now forgotten project.
Would re-installation of iMovie 6 help? If so, where do I get the re-install?

Adobe Flash Player Settings window keeps popping up

When playing news clips I keep getting the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window. And the Allow and Deny buttons don’t work so I can’t get rid of the window without closing the video.
What can I do to correct this?

The Settings window might pop-up due to insufficient memory allocation, camera/mic adjustments etc.

Disabling special alerts in the "Change Action Center settings" window

In Windows 8.1 Update, I noticed that, in the "Change Action Center settings" window in the "Control Panel", the "Microsoft Account", "Windows Activate", "Windows Backup" and "Apps launcher" alerts
can not be disable even with a local account of Administrators type. How come? What is the meaning of these alerts? How do I disable them?

Hi,
Please know that these options inform you of any issues with them if you have gotten them setup. If you haven't set up them, the option appeared to be grey.
Once they are grey, no such alerts will display about them.

WebHelp Properties Settings Window Content Categories inconsistency

We are using RoboHelp 9 on a Windows 7 platform.
We are seeing what appears to be inconsistent behavior from RoboHelp when setting up a RoboHelp project.
These are the steps we follow:
Open RoboHelp.
Click Blank Project.
Enter title of project.
Enter location of project.
Click Finish.
Delete the "Frist Topic" file.
Select File > Project Settings.
On Project Settings, on the Import tab, in FrameMaker Document area, click Edit.
On Conversion Settings, click Image.
In Preferred Dimensions, select Width and Height.
Click Other Settings.
Select Topic Name Maker, and type in our custom marker name.
Click OK twice.
Right-click WebHelp (Primary Layout).
Select Properties.
In the WebHelp Settings window:
Click General, point to the output folder.
Click Content Categories -- and this is where RoboHelp appears to be inconsistent.
Sometimes the Content Categories node has a child node called Content <Default>, and sometimes that child node is not there.
As far as we know, we are following the exact same steps either way.
I am hoping someone who knows RoboHelp can tell us a simple fix to see the Content <Default> child node every single time.

We were creating a new project for every product. So...we were already creating a new WebHelp SSL for each product.
Your post gave me an idea for a work-around, and this is what I did:
Create the new RoboHelp project as normal.
Complete all 8 steps in the original post to see if the Content <Default> child node appeared (it didn't).
Closed the RoboHelp project.
Went back to a previous project that had the desired child node, and copied the WebHelp SSL.
Returned to the current RoboHelp project files and pasted the WebHelp SSL.
In RoboHelp, opened the current RoboHelp project.
Went to WebHelp (Primary Layout) properties.
Changed the name in the Title Bar field, and changed the location of the Output Folder.
Published content.
Everything is looking good! Thank you again.

Chaging the info in the settings window

I have a new email address and want to change it. When I try in settings window it has some boxes that let me enter data but my email is set. How do I do this?

I guess, I really don't understand iCloud and how files are stored and where. I gather when I was asked to set it up I should have declined. Anyway, it looks like some of my files are stored in the cloud. If I shut off "documents" in the preferences it will remove those docs from my macbook, but they will remain in the cloud and I could get access to them for another computer if I set it up.
I also gather to avoid this, I have to, on a file by file basis, save them to my mac and then they will be on my mac. What I don't get, is that these files must exist on my mac because I can edit it without being connected to the internet. Maybe those files I see when disconnected from the internet are on my mac and I wouldn't be able to see cloud files unless I was connected to the internet.
My concern is that when I deselect "documents" in the iCloud preferences it warns me that those documents on my mac will be removed from my mac. I am afraid to deselect "documents' or "calendars" as a result.
If I seem confused, I am. Please don't feel obligated to reply if my message is too muddled.

How to specify the position of the flash player settings window

My question is, is there a way to specify where this settings

Ow do I keep the slideshow settings window from popping up?

every time I start a slideshow in iPhoto 7.1.1, the slideshow settings window keeps on popping up, even if I save the display and music settings.
This is useless and annoying. Where do I change the settings such that I am not asked about the slideshow settings every time anew?

If your using an album and playing a slideshow with the play button at the bottom of the page hold down the Option key and hit the play button. That will bypass the setting window if you have saved the settings. Those settings will be linked to that album so if you remove the photos and put new ones in the same settings will still be valid.

If the slideshow button is not in the toolbar at the bottom go to the View->Show in Toolbar menu and select Slideshow.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. Iphoto selects wrong fonts in settings window for books

I saw someone else had this problem in a calendar but didn't see any resolution.
Here's the issue. I'm building a book in iPhoto '08. When I go to the settings window to change a font, instead of selecting the font I want when I close the window, it selects the font immediately above the one I selected in the list. If it was consistent with this, I could probably work around it, but some fonts it won't select at all.
I've tried trashing the iphoto plist file. Didn't make any difference. Any other ideas out there?

You might try using OnyX to clean the application caches and the font caches. While your in OnyX run the various cron maintenance routines also. Wouldn't hurt.
