Setup did not find any hard disk drive in your computer

I have an old Compaq Presario 7598 Desktop (Windows XP) which I use as a backup machine. Recently when I tried to start it I am getting "Unable to access hard disk,. Operating system not found on any devices". Then when I tried to start with XP Boot Disk (CD), I am getting "Setup did not find any hard disk drive in your computer".
Can someone help me to resolve this issue?
Thanks.

Repeatedly tap the F10 key at boot, you should see information for the hard disk.

  • Setup did not find any hard disks installed in your computer

OK, I spent about 30 minutes looking for a solution to this and haven't found anything. I'm too lazy to keep looking, and I need to get back to work...
    Setup info:
    -Mac Pro (Early 2008)
    -Dual 3.2Ghz processors
    -32GB RAM
-RAID Card with four 1TB drives attached (RAID 5 with two volumes: one Mac OS X 10.5.3 and one Mac OS X Server 10.5.3)
-320GB SATA drive that originally came with the unit in hard drive bay 1, now installed in the 2nd optical drive bay and connected to the 5th internal SATA port. It's partitioned with BootCamp: 32.88GB for Mac OS X 10.5.3 (installed and running, used to create the BootCamp partition) and 264.71GB available for Windows.
    Windows install disc:
Took my Windows XP SP1 install disc and used nLite to slipstream SP2 and SP3 and burn a new install disc.
When I boot into the Windows install disc, everything goes fine, until it actually gets to the part where I should be selecting my hard drive (Hit Enter to Install Windows) for installation. Instead , when I hit enter, I get the message that "+Setup did not find any hard disks installed in your computer. blah, blah, blah, hit F3 to restart.+"
I'm assuming this is a SATA issue and that I need to get a SATA driver slipstreamed into my install disc so that the Windows installer will see the SATA drive.
Any suggestions on how to proceed?

Everything I've read says that that won't work because I have the RAID card.
Sounds like I'm out of luck, if BootCamp can't be installed on a SATA drive not connected to one of the original 4 bays.
Also, I'm concerned about taking the RAID drives out (I'd have to take all 4 out or it corrupts the RAID setup when I stick the one back in) then putting them back in and having everything return to an All Good status.

  • K9A2: Win2k "Setup did not find any hard disk drives"

Even with the SB600 "F6 Disk" and similar disk for PDC_42819, I can't seem to get Windows setup to recognize the existence of the RAID configured from SATA1-4 on the mainboard.
I've got a Fastbuild raid 1+0 of four drives that shows up as healthy / functional, but even though you see the drive "announced" during startup, SATA1-4 turn up nothing in the BIOS basic settings.  It doesn't surprise me so much then that a driver would be required for Windows setup to find the resource, that that does not seem to have helped.
I've tried SATA mode in BIOS as RAID, AHCI and IDE, and only with IDE did installation see anything at all.
Enable / disable extra RAID controller does not seem to have mattered much.
Any idea on the magic trick required to get  a RAID array identified?

Are you trying to make this RAID 0+1 array bootable?
    Yes.Quote
I have tried several RAID levels on both controllers and everything works out eventually, but this was all done with an OS running from a single drive...
I'm sure it would work easily enough booting from a single IDE drive plus the RAID, but then I'd lose all the benefits of RAID redundancy, not to mention the performance gains of stripe/mirror.
No matter what I do with the boot sequence, it seems that the SB600 SATA/RAID never asserts the defined / healthy logical drive as "C:" at system start.  If Windows needs to have a device driver loaded just to see the RAID, I don't know how it ever does, if that (IDE mode) isn't already built into the kernel.
This still does not answer my initial conundrum of why it can't even see the array when booting from CD with the help of an F6 disk.  The moment it reads the disk, it's really supposed to have all the information it needs to talk to the SB600 chip and see the logical drive as defined, and use it for installation.  Of course, when the machine rebooted without the benefit of loading drivers from the F6 disk, it would still be blind to the existance of the RAID ....

  • The computer can not find any hard disk

hello to me appeared a problem installing an SSD in my mac pro 1.01 of 2007 afterrestarting the mac I went out one with a question mark with the famous gray screen, and I do not recognize any system disk.

Hold down the Option key as you start up.
Wait for the screen to be drawn with Icons for each bootable volume.
If your SSD is there, choose it and click the arrow below it.
Then use System Preferences > Startup Disk ...
... to set the correct Startup Disk
If your SSD is not among those shown, choose Recovery HD from those shown, and use Disk Utility "Repair Disk" on it.

1- Replaced the HD with another one.  did not work
2- Changed the jumper of HD. did not work

  • Intel Xserve will NOT boot from hard disk drive

I have two Intel Xserves 2.0 QC machines
I have tried to re-install version 10.4.11 OS (don't ask) onto a Hard disk drive that is in a Disk drive caddy and inserted in the machine.
When booting from The installation DVD media
The disk is seen by the "Disk Utility" (the disk is partitioned as GUID boot) and the installation proceeds to the disk.
Once the first pass of the installation is complete and the system reboots, the system shows the folder and ? mark.
If I boot and hold "ALT" key to view all avaialble boot options the Hard Disk Drive does NOT appear as valid boot disk.
It does show, the still inserted Installation DVD.
I CAN boot from an external firewire drive and the Hard disk drive is visible to the OS once logged in.
I have tried different caddy postions (left, middle and right)
I have tried bona fide Apple supplied Disk drives
I have tried various different caddies
I have tried installing Operating System 10.5.*  and  10.6.8 server
I have run SMC reset and system reset
But still I cannot boot off from any Hard Disk Drive inserted in a caddy at the front of the system.
    Has anyone seen this behaviour?
    Is it fixable?
Do I have replace something like the Hard Disk Drive back plane circuit board? Or even the main logic board?
I have now run out of ideas and cannot find any help in discussions or just googling.
ANY help would be very appreciated
    Regards
    Tony

    Antonio Hi !
QC = Quad core  or  QX as it is written on the "pull out" serial number tab at rear of system
    I have 3 late 2006 Intel xserves
On my intial posting I declared 2 were 2.0 machines - when I was trying to be concise
2 of the macines are 2.66 systems and 1 is 2.0 system - all are QX machines
the 2.0 and 1 of the 2.66 will NOT boot from the ADM and disk inside the system - whereas the other 2.66 system will.
I have many different Caddies and these have different product/model number labels
    603-9965
    603-9545
    603-9796
    these are marked "intel SATA"
The 80Gb was only one of the drives tested - I have used Seagate 400Gb 750Gb and 1Tb  -  all of which have been used in systems at one time or another
and as I said the drives ARE visible once the operating system (either installation DVD or external firewire are booted from) - they are just NOT visible when the system is searching for boot media.
Thanks for the guide - I will look through that and continue to try and find an answer

  • IDoc TO File: Receiver Determination did not find any receivers at all

    Hi,
We have IDoc to file scenario, where based on attributes present in IDoc we have configured different receivers.
Everything was working fine and files were getting created based on the receiver determination criteria.
But there is one change done in custom IDoc to re position the attributes.
Idoc before changes was having NAME1 and NAME2 above KATR6 and KATR7 and after change it looks like below:
So there is no change in segment and no change in mapping but the attributes KATR6 and KATR7 are used to determine the receiver.
Cache refresh is done for both ESR and ID. I have re - entered the receiver determination criteria just to ensure that change should reflect.
But still when I am triggering outbound IDoc from ECC to PI, the transaction is getting errored out with below error:
"ErrText": "Processing error = Receiver Determination did not find any receivers at all",
Can any one providee some idea what could be the reason and what is the right approach to resolve this issue.
    Thanks,

  • I did not find any difference from my iPad 2 and iPad 3?

I did not find any difference from my iPad 2 and my iPad 3, I am wondering did they sell me the same iPad

Look at the model number on the back of the box and enter that number into a Google search. That will tell you wich model you have.
The new iPad comes in a box that simply says iPad on it so you can probably rest assured that you did receive the new iPad, but do the Google search if it makes you feel better.

I think you understand english good enough (som ni alla svenskar brukar g?ra (b?ttre ?n vi finskar i alla fall)) so I just give a link to another thread on this forum.
This issue you're having, is quite common for Creative Audigy carrds (perhaps with OEM models mostly) if you just search this forum.
You can use those instructions to get some drivers installed to your card. Install drivers first and then all the Creative software you need.
You need WinRar being installed into your system to get driver package extracted. You can download it from http://www.winrar.de/edownload/winrar.html

I dont understand this thing. I bought this laptop from my university shop last october.
    thanks for ur help.

    Hi
I wonder where you have searched for the drivers.
The Toshiba European websites provides the drivers for Tecra M5.
There is no additional part number, only Tecra M5
So maybe you will check the drivers from this page
The Toshiba Canadian site provides drivers for the PTM51C series.
It seems this series was designed only for the Canadian market.
I found the Tecra PTM51A series on the Toshiba Australian and New Zeeland website.
But nothing about the PTM51L series.
So try to download the drivers from the European site and install it in the right order!

I originally posted plugged in an external drive and use TM and back up on there but then i unplugged the external Mass storage device (it was a WD drive). Then I tried to use TM and it didn't work. I want to have TM run on my computer with out having an external drive attached. How can I do this? Also if at all possible could I run time machine on my computers internal drives and also have it on a back up external drive just incase of a computer failure.

Hi! You can designate any internal or external drive for Time Machine to use for backup. You can also use the external as a bootable clone if it is a firewire device and is bootable itself. You do this by cloning the drive which can be done using the disk utility, SuperDuper or CarbonCopyCloner. Tom

    Hi,
Ive got a Portege M400 to which im wanting to start a fresh, I never had the tablet XP CD so im trying to install using a XP Pro disc but everytime I get no hard drive can be detected and I tried a another Home edition disc also.
Ive searched for SCSI/ SATA drivers but can only find RAID drivers to which are no good for me,
Hopefully someone can help me out
    Thanks

    Hi wacksonjackson,
Why these RAID drivers are not good for you? Windows XP requires RAID drivers if your notebook has RAID controller and there is no other option to install XP from a normal Windows XP disk. So download the RAID drivers on official Toshiba website. Either you create a new installation disk with RAID drivers using freeware tool nLite or you copy the drivers on an external USB FDD and load them during XP setup.
Also check similar threads here in forum. You will find hundreds of similar threads about SATA and RAID drivers.
    Check this!!!
