Look, I do not know how to do set up the email system on my 6085. I really need help right from the beginning as it is really fustrating me. Thanks for the help out there!

Hi kabideco13
Thank you for posting!
Simple steps that you can try:
Restart your phone
1. Switch your phone off
2. Remove the battery.
3. After a few seconds, put the battery in and switch your phone on.
Reset the settings
Restore the original factory settings as instructed in your phone's user guide.

  • E71 how to remove setup email link from main page

Recently got a E71 - very pleased with it.    Have installed nokia email and exchange mail - all working fine.   I ended up with 2 "setup email" links on the main page.  One i could select and hide,  the other I cannot.   When ever i boot the phone it trys to start the email setup wizard by default.     I notice from installations I can remove the email setup - will this affect existing mail accounts and would this mean I can't set up any new accounts in the future?
surely there must be an easy way to remove the icon.    I tried deselcting the wizard from the Modes -> home screen application page but it just comes back after a few minutes.
    very annoying.

spooky! i found the same solution today, checked back here and you'd beaten me to it!!! DOH!
    posted the following elsewhere.
i found another solution for removing the email setup link on the homepage (still have the wizard start on boot).
MENU -> MODES -> HOME SCREEN APPLICATIONS ->enabled applications ->  untick Intellisync
the email setup icon now dissapears on my E71.
I can't find a decent explanation of what intellisync actually does, but all my email is working as before.
To be honest i could probably just remove the set up program as I won't ever need to add another email account..
just thought I'd post this anyway."

  • BB Torch (unlocked). Cant setup email (times out when selected) via Virgin Mobile

    Hi Everyone
    I have a BB Torch 9800.
It was originally registered on the Rogers network, and everything worked fine.
I recently unlocked the phone, and switched to Virgin (ie new SIM card), including a data plan.
Im not able to setup an email account now.
When I go into Setup->Email Accounts->Internet Mail Account, it says "Check for updates'.
After a couple minutes it will timeout saying it can't connect.
In searching the fourms, I came across Host Routing Table settings. My HRT has  "* No entries *'. I have "Register Now", which tells me the Registration message was sent, however I havent had a response back.
Im also wondering if this phone is still "registered" with Rogers somehow?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

My providor is Virgin Mobile in Ontario, Canada. A quick web search seemed to indivate they support this BB, but IM not positive. So it coul just be thats the issue.
From what I can see in the official Download Portal, Virgin Mobile Canada indeed does support the 9800...you can double check here:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/apps-and-software/desktop-and-device-download-sites.html
If a carrier lists an OS package for a specific BB model number, then the carrier supports that model, and everything should be fine.
But, that is step 5...what about the things included in steps 1 through 4? Those, of course, are all steps...requiring the success of a prior step before considering proceeding to the next step. So, for instance, if your voice services aren't yet working from Virgin, then you should not even be thinking yet about getting data to work.
    As to your questions:
    phantasie wrote:

Do I request this through my BB?
Normally, I suggest the following steps, in order (again requiring success before proceeding), even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Unfortunately, we already know that your BB fails on step 1 here (register HRT)...which then precludes moving on to step 2. Which leads me back to the prior steps...did steps 1 through 4 all result positively?
    phantasie wrote:
How do I go about registering the BB onto their network - namel generating the proper Service Book delivery.
Would the providor do this for me automaticall?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no...when in doubt, the steps above are the way to force it.
    phantasie wrote:
How do I go about registering the BB onto their network - namel generating the proper Service Book delivery.
Would I request the providor to do this?
If it does not work with what is above, then the next logical step would be to contact the carrier for formal assistance...after all, it's their network with which you are attempting to get your BB to communicate.
    phantasie wrote:
How do I go about registering the BB onto their network - namel generating the proper Service Book delivery.
Do I login into BB to do this (ie I found this link https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html which I tried logging into, but it says my device isnt registered on the network. It told me to setup my Host Routing Tabels to fix that, which I tried, but hasnt worked yet).
There is more than one way to accomplish many of these things. But, until your BB properly registers to the carrier network (HRT), attempting to go any further is pointless.
With all of that, we're back to steps 1 through 4 of what I previously sent...if those are not completed properly, then nothing else will be useful.
    Good luck!

  • HT1146 Anyone know how to setup email so you can get a Read Receipt?

I would like to know how I can setup email in Mac so I can get a 'read receipt' once the recipient has opened my sent email.

The process is described here, though that is several years old. As far as I know it still works in 10.6.8. However, use it at your own peril. Also note that just because your messages request a receipt does not mean that the recipient's email client will send one - even if the client has the capability, many users will have it turned off. Apple's Mail hasn't the capability.

I can't find the setup for that anywhere. How do I do it? I've seen hreads about you needing a dataplan and what ever, does that mean if I don't have that I can't use the email function?
I would think it would be able to synk with windows live mail but no. Sense outlook no longer exist its only able to synk my contacts I have.

    Hi there!
Here is a demo to follow:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/blackberry101/setup.jsp#tab_tab_email
However, if in the BIS configuration wizard (usually accessed via Setup > Email Settings) only shows Enterprise email, then you don't have an adequate data plan from your carrier to enable the enhanced BB Push email. You will need to contact them to find out what plan you need from them (at whatever fees they charge) to enable access to their Blackberry Internet Service. Typically, it's called The Blackberry Data Plan -- generic data plans are usually not sufficient to enable access to the enhanced BB services hosted by your carrier.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Auto-Setup Emails Fail with kGotAuthenticationFailure

If I set up my people with a shortname of "first.last", the auto-setup email fails to work when they click the setup button with "kGotAuthenticationFailure."
I do the dot in the shortname to facilitate more organized email addresses. I could do this by adding an alias, but I've found this confuses users as some services (like the wiki) only accept the true shortname.
I would really like for the auto-setup emails to work. Any suggestions for a fix?

Are the client Macs all created from a central image? If so, yes, it's a Kerberos key failure. The local KDCs need to be flushed from the image or from each Mac before you do your bind. Also good idea to discard the system keychain while you're at it.
Here's a simple sh script to do it.
    #!/bin/sh
    \# Delete System Keychain
    rm -rf /Library/Keychains/System.keychain
\# Delete the local KDC database
    rm -rf /var/db/krb5kdc
    \# Regenerate the local KDC

  • How to setup email widget for N97?

    Hi all,
I have searched everywhere and know that there is a "Set up email" button to click but this will setup a mail box in my Messaging folder (together with SMS sutff), NOT the push email client widget that I used before when I was able to go to email.nokia.com and entered my phone number. An SMS would be sent to my phone and I was able to configure the emails using the "SMS provisioning" feature which would result in NO mail box setup in the Messaging folder, but a (push) widget email client instead.
I live in the US and am using N97, latest firmware (v21 something). When I go to email.nokia.com and try to get the software and it asks me to go to email.nokia.com on my phone which results in a mailbox setup in the Messaging folder, which is not what I want.
    Anyone got the same problem?
    Thanks,
    Caten

Yes same issue on my 5800.  Also in US.  I had to hard reset my phone and when I got the app downloaded and installed, I run the setup and it always sets up my email in the messaging folder.  I called Nokia and the rep could not help me. I am not sure she understood me. She stated that I would be contacted by some other Nokia person within 48 hours but that was over 3 days ago.  I was able to resolve this a couple of times by completely removing my messaging account and re creating on the website.  I would have to use a new email address everytime.  I only have 4 email accounts and I want it to stay that way.  When I log into website, it says that I am using a trial offer or something like that. I wonder if that is why.  It doesn't make sense that I can not get the site to send me another sms provisioning message.  What if I had more than one phone and wanted to get it set up on both.  Still waiting to hear from Nokia.

  • Can't get 8530 to let me setup email accounts.

I just got a new 8530 Curve.  When I go to setup my hotmail, yahoo, gmail, email accounts it won't let me.  Is this Verizon's problem or with the phone?  I'd like to get it done.  Thanks.

BIS = BlackBerry Internet Service. See this FAQ:
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/What_do_I_need_a_Data_Plan_for
BIS is a service, hosted by your carrier/RIM, that is enabled when you subscribe, from your carrier, to an adequate data plan (the last one described in the FAQ). BIS enables your BB to do all of those things listed in the FAQ. For email, BIS functions as the intermediary between your BB and your email service(s)...it is what enables (from the perspective of the BB) true PUSH email.
You have a BIS account, managed by your carrier. BIS accounts can (not MUST) have credentials. Credentials for BIS are needed if you wish to access your settings (email configurations, for example) from a PC/browser since there is no way for BIS to recognize you -- when you use your BB, it knows who you are and can get into your account without credentials. But, once BIS credentials are created, they must thereafter be used via the BB interface as well -- but it has a checkbox for "remember me" so you only have to enter those credentials on the BB once.
So, it would seem that someone created credentials on your BIS account. It could have been the carrier for whatever reason. In any event, you need to contact them so that you can have the credentials and use BIS...you must be able to log into BIS in order to add new email configurations, modify existing ones (when you change your email password, for instance -- that is stored inside of BIS so that it can retrieve and deliver email to you), and other things (e.g., Sending Service Books when there is a problem).
Contact your carrier. They will likely need you to tell them something so that they can validate who you are. They can then reset the BIS account credentials so that you can again use it.
    Hope that helps!
