Setup error message with 4.1.4e update

I have a Tungsten T3 Palm. In the process of reinstalling my software using the download, "Palm Desktop 4.1.4e and HotSync Manager (Windows)"; during the install an error message states"unable to complete setup because unable to connect to internet,", but the install completes with this error in notepad, "Dll Unloaded. HSManager is Closed. InstallerNotify dll installed successfully.Error in loading the library."
I don't know what the problem is as my internet connection is fine and I can only assume the download is not corrupt. Could someone please help me, as I have lost all my info in my computer and it remains on my Palm but I am unable to sync it back onto my computer...

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Support Community.
Suggest you try a "clean uninstall" of Palm Desktop, and try reinstalling from the download. Instructions in this thread.

Error Message with Downloads from Software Update

Today I ran Software Update, and downloaded these two updates: one that applies to printers & scanners, and one that is an update to iTunes. After completion, each download gave the same error message as follows:
The system extension "/System/Library/Extensions/SymOSXKernelUtilities.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used.
How do I correct this error?

That error typically only occurs when the computer has been restarted, although that's not universally the case. What I would try is navigating to /System/Library/Extensions/ and deleting the reference .kext file (you need to CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the file then choose Move to Trash from the contextual menu. You will be prompted for your admin password.)
I would then go to support.apple.com/downloads/ and download the updates in question and install them manually.

Error message with Software Update

Hi everyone. I'm getting the following error message when trying to download some items via Software Update:
"None of the checked updates could be saved. A networking error has occurred: Cannot open file (-3001). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again."
This is for the following downloads:
iPhoto 7.1.4
iDVD 7.0.2
iMovie 7.1.4
Security Update 2008-005
Any ideas? I have no problems with Internet access at all. I'm running a new 24" Intel iMac 3.06 GHz with Mac OS 10.5.4

Hi baltwo.
I was able to manually download the iPhoto, iDVD and iMovie updates from the Apple website and install them with no problem.
After I downloaded the Security Update 2008-005 and tried to install it I get the following error message:
"You cannot install Security Update 2008-005 (Intel) on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."
Is this why the other downloads were prevented? I've never had problems with Software Update before.

Yes, I had found a similar solution also. I'm running XP Pro, SP3. I went Control Panels/ Add-Remove programmes/apple software update/ change/ repair. Then run the 10.5 exe.
While the programme updated from version 8 of iTunes, my new iTunes is now a mess. Not all of my music was in the same folder previously but it all showed up on iTunes. Now many albums have been left out, some have only a few tracks and some have two copies of some tracks as well as having other tracks missing. I haven't begun to work on that.

Hi - Recently I put the latest update on my LT15i (4.1.B.0.587), after this I rooted the phone, and everything seemed okay. But since then I keep getting an error message with an offer to download the 4.1.B.0.587 update and the note: "installation not possible" (because it's already there). The news line on top shows a red exclamation mark all the time. It seems to me that it is due to this error that I cannot partition my SD card. Does anybody have an idea how to fix that? Check the App to see what Apple ID it is associated with. If it is with another Apple ID, you would need to delete it and download it with your current Apple ID.

I'm using Safari 4.0.3. Yes, I know this is an old version of Safari - I can't update it, or any other software on my MacBook. Should I just wait for the Lion OS, or is there any kind of fix a non-technical Mac user like me can attempt without screwing up her laptop?
I've tried clearing my cache and resetting Safari already - doesn't help. I've also tried to update after disabling my (Norton) antivirus software, thinking that might be interfering. None of these help.
I don't know if it's a related problem, but also I can't download .pdf files from the internet, although I used to be able to.

You should use the NortonAV uninstaller to uninstall it. Disabling the dreadful thing in the past hasn't always been sufficient for it to cease creating system havoc. The Mac NortonAV version has a long and well-earned reputation for doing truly seriously nasty things to OS X. Shame on Comcast for inflicting NortonAV on its Mac customers. It's not a matter of if NortonAV will mess up OS X but when and how badly. I can't help but wondering if some setting in your Norton AV has decided that NortonAV, rather than you, will be making executive decisions about what you are allowed to install on your computer and is keeping that fact a secret.
After you are done uninstalling Norton use the finder to search for any Norton files that the uninstaller might have missed. Add the option to search for invisible files.
After you have removed all the Norton bits and pieces restart in safe mode by holding down the shift key right after the startup chime. Keep holding down the shift key until you see the Apple logo and spinning gear. Safe mode does some maintenance tasks which means a much longer than normal startup time. Use Disk Utility to repair permission
If your Mac works normally in safe mode restart. If things still aren't fixed you might want to give another shot at reinstalling Snow Leopard from the install DVD and applying the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo before taking your Mac to the Apple Store.
If you feel the need to run AV software on your Mac use ClamXav in manual mode. It's donationware and doesn't seem to cause the litany of weird problems that are associated with other AV software.

I am getting a pop up error message with a yellow triangle and yellow exclamation point in Safari but it immediately disappears after it appears. I've subscribed to the Reuter's Technology News on my Bionic so I can stay in the know on the latest and greatest rumors in the wireless world. Not only is it my job but I enjoy reading the speculation on the latest and upcoming devices. Needless to say I've had an experience that's similar to yours.
When I received a subscription error, I had to do a factory data reset on my new Droid Bionic in order to successfully subscribe to the News Feeds. Although I do recommend that you try this, let's save this step as a last resort. Please try to remove the battery while the device is powered on & re-insert then power the device on. Afterwards, verify that you have a good 3G/4G signal, anything more than 2 bars. If you are still experiencing access issues then the factory data reset would be the next step. Of course you will have to reactivate your device after the factory reset. Prior to completing the reset I recommend verifying that your contacts are backed up on either backup assistant or on your Gmail account. Also, your pictures, videos, and music will be saved on the memory card so this info is not in danger. After you have completed the steps above, please reply to this message as your experience may help others.

"unable to acquire rendered frame" error message with AE CS6 Motion Tracker

Hi Everyone,
I am having issues with the built in tracking software in After Effects CS6. Everytime I hit "analyze" I receive the error message "unable to acquire rendered frame" or it simply remains at "0% (frame 1 of 70)". Sometimes I get the message "unable to obtain dynamiclink server connection". I've tried different types of footage, re-started, re-installed the software, deleted (emptied) the database and caches, started a fresh composition, and even did a fresh install of OSX but nothing works. Any ideas? I've searched a lot of forums on this and I've seen the problem in similiar situations (same error message with Warp Stabilizer analysis) but nobody seem to have found any resolution.
I'm running AfterEffects CS6 on Mac OS 10.8.
Processor 2.93 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Memory 8 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC
Graphics ATI Radeon HD 4870 512 MB
Downloaded all the latest updates.
Done all the usual emptying of caches, repaired disk permissions, re-installation of software, etc.

What firewall/antivirus software are you using?
After Effects communicates with the background camera tracker process using TCP, and some overly aggressive firewall/antivirus software can block this communication. That may be the problem in your case.
