Setup Error when Formatting iPod

I have a 4G iPod 20GB. When the setup prompts me to plug in the iPod, and then to format it, I get this error:
assertion b failed at .\iPodFormatFAT32.cpp line 1064
Then the setup shuts down. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi
I'm getting the same error message. How did you resolve it PLEASE!!!!

  • Error when formating Ipod

My Ipod Video was continuously crashing and freezing so I decided to do an iTunes restore and as it didn't change much, I actually formated my iPod thinking it could change something. The problem is that it isn't turning on at all. When I press the center button I get the apple logo for a few seconds and then it kinds of resets an I the logo on and on. When I connect my ipod to the computer it doesn'changes except a few times when it indicated "battery very low please wait"
I therefore charged it using an AC adaptr without much results
    Thanks for your help

  • I get the following error when formatting a external hard drive. Partition failed with the error:  POSIX reports: The operation couldn't be completed. Cannot allocate memory

I get the following error when formatting a external hard drive.

I have a Macbook pro 13" A1278. I purchased it around december 2010. I have a HHD 3.5" drive desktop select II 1.5TB. I purchased it around Febuary/March 2011 to use with my Macbook pro. I formatted it and moved all my files to there, I got it so my macbook's hard drive wouldn't brake and I lose everything on my macbook.
    Is there any fixes?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."

  • I get an error when updating iPod...

I've done everything the support tutorial has told me to do and nothing has worked. It used to be a (-36) error but now it just plain says the disk can't be read from or written. I'm tired and want my music, I hope I can fix this soon since I have a trip and would like to bring along my music with me.
It's a 20GB iPod, not an old model but not a picture or video one.
    Please help!! Thankyou.

  • ITunes displays a -50 error when syncing iPod

When I sync my iPod with iTunes I get the following error message:
"The iPod cannot be updated. An unknown error occured (-50)"
I recently completed a fresh install of my library into iTunes (7.0), then sync'd my iPod. As it was a new library it did a new fresh install to my iPod, but now, every time I sync my iPod it gives me the above message.
Most notably my podcasts don't appear on my iPod now. I have all the latest updates. Can anyone help?
    Powerbook G4, 867Mhz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   640 DRAM

Its not clear what error 50 means. In another context it appears to be something to do with confused or lost authorisation for purchased files for that mac.
I had that problem - couldn't download purchased songs or play previously purchased ones. In attempting to play them, I repeated the process of "not authorised" errors, then being prompted to authorise, doing so and getting success messages only to fail again. Error 50 as the failure code.
Try playing some purchased music. Also try purchasing something (like the the free track of the week on the store home page). See if you get the same message.
I eventually cleared it - though not clear how. All I did was the usual trick of checking permissions, running the maintenance scripts (via Onyx) and rebooting a few times.

I've been trying to sync my iPod to iTunes but this error comes up.
+"Attempting to copy to the disk "LILY'S IPOD" failed. An unknown error occurred (-69)."+
I've tried restoring and it has restored the iPod just fine, but once I connect it to try and sync it again the above error comes up. I've restarted my computer, I've searched for iPod updates. I was using iTunes version 8.0.0.35 and installed 8.0.1.11 and I still get the error.
    Can anyone help me? Thanks

  • Error when installing ipod

i keep getting this error when i connect my ipod to the computer, it doesnt appear in itunes or mycomputer and the Found New Hardware manager says that there was an error while installing the device. when i went into the device manager the ipod was under disk drive and had this error in the device status.
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

OMG! You could sub-title this: "Why Windows Blows" ... I bought a new iPod for my wife - I have to install the sw on the loser windows box because she uses that box.
The iPod (cd) and/or the iTunes (apple.com download) install blows up either under my admin/unrestricted account, or as her limited-user account with the errors described above. I've followed all the links, etc., and jumped through all the hoops but I still get the %#$! 1607 error.
When I try, as a windows "super-user" <snort> to reset the perms on the windows/Installer directory, it gives me the appearance of allowing me to uncheck the box and take the directory out of read-only more, but it doesn't actually reset the directory permissions.
Since windows isn't smart enough to have an equivalent of a chmod 775 command....it looks like we're hosed.
I'm subscribing to the thread in the hopes that someone can actually figure out how to install this software on Windows successfully....until then, I guess she'll have to manage her iPod on my one of my Macs if it will support multiple iPods....
Hey ... Apple - how about itunes/ipod support for linux?
Sigh...frustrated beyond belief; I feel so unclean every time I have to use a windows system...

  • Getting a "Setup Error" when I try to re-install Photoshop CS3

I've had a nightmare week.  My iMac crapped out and I lost the harddrive.  Now I'm slogging through the process of re-installing all my software.
Per the instructions of the Adobe Customer Service, I went into "My Adobe" > "My Orders" and downloaded the Photoshop CS3 I purchased in Sept. 2007.  (I know it's old but it serves the purpose I need).
But when I double click the "Setup" application, I get the following message:
    Setup Error
Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue. Contact Adobe Customer Support for assistance.
When I contacted Customer Support, they told me they could not help me because they do not offer support for old versions of CS and to post a question here, so that's what I'm doing.
Does anyone know what the "Setup Error" is and how I can re-install Photoshop CS3?

    Is IE your default browser?
The address in that error is somewhat peculiar, in that it points to a process running on your computer (127.0.0.1 is a loopback address that points to your own system).
I suggest that after downloading and saving the Flash installer to a folder, you completely exit Firefox, and do the installation with Firefox closed in case having Firefox open is interfering in some manner.
Of course, make sure you get the official installer from Adobe, and '''uncheck the box for any tag-along software that you do not want''':

  • Setup Error when trying to install any adobe CS6 Product

I have analyzed the PDApp.log after trying to install any product, as Photoshop or Flash Pro (where I get "Installer failed to initialize. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem."), and there's 1 particular part, that seems to attract my attention:
"[FATAL] Setup - Error installing C:\(installation path)\packages\core\PDApp.pimx package.
    Return Value of pim_installPackage = -1"
Before, the log also says that getInstalledPackageSize: Package folder does not exist on the system.

    Hi compsai,
There might be insufficent permissions. Please try the following :
    > Enable the hidden Admin Account on Windows 7 ( Ref :  http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-the-hidden-administrator-account-on-wi ndows-vista/ )
    > Disable all Non-Microsoft Startup Services. (Ref : http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/disable-startup-items-services-windows.html )
    > Disable all the Antivirus softwares like CA, Norton,Mc Afee etc. temporarily from the computer.
Reboot and try installing in the new enabled Admin user account and check.

  • Setup crashes when formatting

    Hello all.
I'm using a first generation ipod mini (4 GB). The setup in the CD-ROM crashes when i clicked "Format". The error is caused by "IDriver.exe". The installer said "Ipod is being reset now." before it crashes.
Anyone has any idea of how to fix this?
Is there an updated version of the ipod mini software installer?
I'm using Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 2.

    Hi

  • Error when connecting IPOD

    Hi all,
My IPOD classic (160GB) recently froze. I had to reset it to get it going again and thus it emptied all my songs. When I connected to my Itunes library to reload the IPOD, I got this Microsoft Windows error message on my computer. (Windows 7 utimate)
*"You need to format the disc in Drive E before you can use it. Do you want to format it?"* There is then an option below to format disk. I tried this and it told me I couldnt do it.
I have never had this problem before. I tried my daughters IPOD touch and it connects to the library with no problem. I have been through the 5 steps Apple suggests (reset etc). I have updated Itunes. I have reinstalled Itunes. None of it works. When ever I connect my IPOD classic I get the same error message. It must be the IPOD. Has anyone else experienced this and besides throwing my IPOD in the bin, does anyone have any ideas?
    cheers
    John Corey

I tried this and it told me I couldnt do it.
What was the precise text of that error message, John?

  • Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error when syncing ipod

When I'm at the end of ipod setup and I click done.. I get this "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" error.
    It says: C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe
    R6025
    - pure virtual function call
I haven't seen any posts relating to this problem. I'm unable to sync my iTunes with my iPod. In addition my iTunes is not recognizing my ipod, but my computer does. I've had to reinstall iTunes for it to recognize ipod. I've followed the other instructions (delete temp files / cleaning registry etc.) with no fix yet.
I think these may be related (hopefully). Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I included waveform storage, runtime engine 8.2, ni-visa-runtime and  ni-serial3.1. I tried to create a setup.exe by installer on an other pc. But it's completely the same behavior afterwards. I attached the error message. This message appears after I choose the path and continue the setup. It's the question which file is meaning.
I tried to create a setup.exe by installer without any additional.
The strange thing is it was unsuccessful with following message. Maybe this will be helpful to find the problem.
    CDK_Item_OnDoProperties.vi.ProxyCaller >> CDK_Item_OnDoProperties.vi >> CDK_InstallerConfiguration_Editor.vi >> CDK_Build_Invoke.vi >> CDK_Engine_Main.vi >> CDK_Engine_BuildDevPart.vi >> NI_MDF.lvlib:MDFBuildDevPart_Open.vi
