Setup.exe Won't Run on XP Pro

Downloaded the 3 files, checked the file sizes, unzipped them into Disk1, Disk2 and Disk3, went to Disk1 and double-clicked on setup.exe. Nothing happened. I've downloaded the files twice.
I've got a new P4-2.4 Ghz computer with 1 GByte RAM and 120 GByte disk, most of it empty. Running Windows XP Pro. I'm logged in as an administrative user.
I have no idea what is wrong.

Hi:
I've downloaded 3 disks to win2000 machine, but looks like the downloaded file size is smaller than that indicated on OTN download page. So when I tried to unzip them, i got the error messgae saying that "it's not the right archive".
did anyone of you ever experienced such downloading problem?
many thnaks for your kind response.

  • Setup.exe won't run on Windows XP?

I am trying to install Oracle 8.1.7 on Windows XP (Pro).
When I run setup.exe, nothing happens. The task manager process
list shows that setup starts and it starts jrew.exe, then both
disappear from task manager process list and nothing happens.
How do you install on Windows XP?

I am haveing the same problem, but with Win 2000 Server
I tried running the third tier setup i.e. \\install\win32\setup.exe
Doesn't work either. I disabled most of the services on my server, even terminal services (which requires the install from ad-remove progs)sitll no show.
It is an older Proliant server w. Quad P1's @200mhz but I think it meets the minimum requirements. And if it doesn't shouldn't I get an error?
I am trying to install this for home eval in my DBA cert class.
    Anyone?

  • Oracle 9.2 setup.exe won't run on P3 with Win2K SP3

    Hi, everyone:
We had difficulty in installing Oracle 9.2 onto our Dell P3 Latitude C800 laptop running Win2K Professional with SP3. As many of you already reported, after double clicking "setup.exe", it won't run and nothing happened. We tried to run "autorun.exe" but that didn't work either. We also changed the system Temp/Tmp environment variables but no help either. Since our laptop is P3, not P4, not sure whether changing the symcjit.dll name would help.
This seems to be a Java issue but not sure exactly what caused the problem. We had TrendMicro's OfficeScan AV s/w installed. Is that the problem? What other commonly used s/w are Java based and may cause conflict with Oracle installer? We only have MS Office, VisualBasic, UltraEdit, Acrobat, WinZip, and GetRight installed on the laptop.
Are there any other suggestions for us to try? Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

  • Downloaded Discoverer4.1: can't install (setup.exe won't run)

    Hi,
Just downloaded Discoverer 4.1 (admin4133f.zip) and unzip files in directory c:\temp (along with Oracle Forms and Report and Oracle 8i zip files) but whenever i run setup.exe nothing happens.
I've already got Oracle Personal Edition 8i and Developer 6i installed in my pc.
    thanks

I've already got Oracle Personal Edition 8i and Developer 6i installed in my pc.

I've eccounted the similar installation problem - Oracle Discoverer installation at the OracleHome that already has Oracle Reports lead to setup.exe fail. This is noted since Discoverer 3.1.+ and Reports 3+
Try to install Discoverer into another OracleHome.
If installing in the same Home - Discoverer must be the first, Reports - the second...
(By the way - watch for the 9iAS EE installation - you'll see Discoverer goes first :) )

Could anyone help me with this
    Waiting for a reply
    thanks !

    Hi,
Please right click the setup.exe and choose run as administrator.
Sometime, it may be caused by missing or corrupted system files, run SFC.
    Start>click cmd in the search box>type SFC/scannow.
And sometimes other software, especially security type programs, can interfere with your installations.
Test in Safe mode to see if the issue persists.
Restart the computer, press F8 before the windows logo appears.
If still cannot install, test with install .exe file in another computer. If the same issue, the issue may be the setup file itself. If can install in another computer, it may be the issue of the windows installer.
Follow the steps in the kb to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Forms 6i setup.exe will not run

I am trying to uninstall Forms 6i from a PC (Windows XP) and the manual recommends doing it via the installer.
However the installer (setup.exe) will not run. No error message, control just returns after double click.
I am pretty sure this was how we originally installed Forms 6i but for some reason it does not run now.
Tried a couple of things like turning DEP off, to no effect.
Anybody has an idea where the problem is?
Or should I just uninstall the hard way by deleting the folders and cleaning up the registry manually

    Hai,
In The Properties of the setup file, there is a Tab Named Compatibility. In that tick the Run this program in compatibility mode for:
and select the latest Operating system listed in the Combo box. (Eg: Windows 2000).
    and Press OK.
    then it will work.
    Regards,
    Manu.

  • Photoshop 7 setup.exe won't start

    Hello everyone !
Thank you for reading my question and taking some time to help me. Much appreciated
I have some troubles with my photoshop 7. When I click on the exec setup file, it starts and then stops. Nothing happens, no window, no error message, just the exec doesn't launch.
The setup exe seems to be running in the task manager but appart from this, zero.
I've tried the administrator mode, the XP compatibility mode, the installation files copied on the C drive, ... nothing works.
I'm running a Windows 7 64 bits system, 8GB ram, and an SSD drive on C:.
Could someone help me with this issue ?
I've looked into the previous discutions on this website about similar issue but it was on different versions of Photoshop.
If my question has been already asked, please forgive me as a first-time user of the adobe community !

  • New setup.exe for Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Pro

Per http://www.adobe.com/go/kb403246, there's a new setup.exe to let you install "all" updates to AAPro8.0 at initial install time.
Does this also include installing the Security Update 1 for 8.1.2, or, does that still have to be done separately?
    Thanks.

Yes on both accounts. We're running Sophos and I've shut down the process that auto-starts and runs it in the background. The user herself is an administrator and I've tried both on her account and the root workstation administrator with no success.

  • Itunessetup.exe won't run

I am on Windows XP. I have downloaded and saved itunessetup.exe. I then rebooted, closed applications and shut off antivirus. I tried running setup.exe but it does nothing. Any ideas?

    Hi kreuger,
This article might be of some help with that VBScript error message:

  • 11.7.700.169 exe won't run

I'm trying to install 11.7.700.169 on 64-bit Windows 7. I've tried via Chrome, IE and Firefox. Each time I download and open the exe file, but when I click "run" nothing happens. I know in Chrome there is that Technote about it already being part of the browser and that it just needs to be enabled.... when I go to enable the plug in, it says I need to download a critical security update. When I follow the link to download, I have the same problem where the file won't run. It's not that I'm not waiting long enough because I've waited a long time to see if it will start to run and it just doesn't! Any thoughts?

Download the offline installers for IE and Firefox from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#mai n-pars_header (under the heading Progress bar hangs...).
I don't know about Chrome, as I don't use that browser.

  • Itunes won't run, Win 7 Pro 64 Bit

Itunes 11.0.1 will not run. For that matter 10.X won't run either. I am running Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit. Multiple uninstall's and reinstalls, still no joy. I am extremely displeased (I own 5 Apple products crippled by this).

Do you get an error message when you try to launch iTunes? If so, what does it say? (Precise text, please.)

  • Setup.exe does not run

    Hi,everyone,
I have a question about installing oracle 9i on windows 2000.
I downloaded three zip files and recorded them on CD-Rs and extract them into three different folders on another computer. After the extraction, when I clicked on setup.exe in the first folder, it did run. How can I solve this problem?
Any help will be highly appreciated.

  • Setup.exe won't compete to allow driver installation

I've been using my K7N2 Delta2 Platinum motherboard without issues for years now.  Made no system changes whatsoever but a windows update caused me tons of issues.  I took the opportunity to clear out all my files and start from scratch.  Reformatted the drive, reinstalled Windows XP Home.  Then I downloaded the driver files from MSI, put it on the desktop and ran setup.exe.  The MSi screen comes up, then the install shield wizard initializes, then closes.
I am missing all my important drivers and I'm sort of stuck on what to try next.  I've downloaded a fresh copy, same old.
    Any thoughts, PLEASE!!!

No av software on as this was a clean, reformatted install, and since the ethernet driver isn't working I haven't put anything on yet.
I tried in safe mode, same thing.
I just reformatted and reinstalled windows, again.  I had left everything (printer, router...) plugged in when I installed windows last time.  Just in case, or some glitch installing windows started fresh again.
Running a memory test now, so far so good.
As soon as that is done I'll try again.
    Any other ideas???
