Setup my iphone to my laptop
How can i setup my iphone for the 3G network with my laptop or how can i use it to connect?
If I understand well, the problem is AT&T or more precisely the agreement btw AT&T and Apple; not the iPhone itself.
I live in South Africa and have bought my iPhone without any linked contract/plan and the iPhone is unlocked (I can chose my carrier). You can reply "why are you complaining? Lucky you!". The true is that I had to pay roughly $800 for the iPhone without any data included!
So if it's really a problem with AT&T... I think it's unfair for people like me who have paid a huge amount to enjoy freely the iPhone!
As you know (or don't) all iTune stores don't offer the same app. You have access to softwares that I'm not allowed to download just because living in Belgium and South Africa, I have to go through the Belgian store (my credit card is a Belgian one).
Can anybody tell me why Apple does not release tethering country by country, type of contract by type of contract if it's really an AT&T problem? Down here, with an HTC, you are allowed to tether - not that I want to go Windows, I'm not creasy ... What is the difference with buying a usb stick except that I will have to pay a bit less than $200 (the price over here) to get one (that money is even not for the carrier!)

when i connect my iphone to my laptop and open itunes it shows my iphone has nothing on it(no music, no movies, etc...) then when i try to sync it says iphone is is full and can only put in a selected amount of songs. Take in mind this is my first time to sync with this laptop(HP 15 ENVY) and as well my laptop is just brand new. just got it a week ago. so how do i fix this prob. and also when i open my itunes store and then view my account it says error occurred either debug it through Microsoft visual studio or close program. I cannot address the sync services error right now, but the error that you receive when you change from sync to manually manage music is what happens when you change. Once you change to manually manage music, it erases all of the music and will only put the music that you want on the phone, content that you manually drag over to it. My o2 email account does not work when sending from my MAC it will accept incoming mail but not send it gives me a message that o2 account (offline) my mac I have no problem with my iPhone or mac laptop. any suggestions please.

I did what you've told me, new account and manually copied my files from Time Machine. I had lots of permissions problems, but at the end, almost everything is in order... It seems it had to be with some of the Apple Preferences, but I can't be sure, as most of them were dumped to the trash can.
I still don't have my Mail Rules back, unfortunately, although I did goggled some. It is a pity, as I had around 30 or 40 of them, getting my mail in order to each of its mailboxes, but it is a small price as the rest doesn't show the before syntoms.

My girl-friend owns a 16GB 3GS running on software version 3.1.2 and I own a 32GB 3GS running software version 3.1.3. After I sync both iphone on my laptop, nothing works on the 16GB iphone. The moment I tap on any Apps, it returns to the home screen immediately. Everything works fine for my 32GB iphone. I am using only one I-tunes store account.

When I say yes and no... I mean it can be done but the steps you're using is not the best way...
Best bet is to use a different user log in for that PC and then create two iTunes accounts... you can still share apps and music via Home sharing and copy items back and forth -

Never mind, disregard. I went in and reset my password to my AirPort Express, and for some reason, it then went through, and is all working and good.

Hi All, I plugged my iPhone into my laptop and I was asked to upgrade my iTunes software. It took more than seven hours and just to be told that my SIM card does not appear to be supported. Since then I can not use my iPhone. I am lost plse help. Jam53

However, the iphone is visible in the Devices directory in iTunes. I changed my SIM card but still can not be recognized by the iPhone.

A relative synced my iphone with his laptop without me knowing. It had a passcode on the phone but the sync still worked. I have since found out he is quite IT knowledgeable and has been known to track other peoples phones that he wants to know information about. How is my data useful to him and can he restore this data on another iPhone and run it parallel to mine? I have had people send me messages which I have not received. These have been screen shot to me later including time and I have just not got them. I had 4 weeks worth of messages go missing from my phone..I know that he synced my phone because his work laptops I'd came up in my settings. Also if the above can be done can he change the settings on my actual phone and access my location without placing tracking software on my phone. Can someone please help here as I can't restore a backup to my phone for obvious reasons and refuse to change my number because of this loser.
Connect the device to the computer.
In iTunes, select the content desired to sync.
Sync.

I used to sync my iphone to a laptop which is no longer in my posession. I am now looking to start over and have a new itunes on my pc with no music on it. When i connect my iphone up to the new itunes it doesn't recognise it or sync - can anyone help me?
The new iTunes has a somewhat different look from the previous version. You can get the old look back if you prefer it by doing View > Show Sidebar in iTunes. Or you can adapt to the new look.

Backing up contacts from iphone 5s to laptop / icloud

I am desperately trying to back up my contacts from my iphone to my laptop & / Or icloud.
On my phone most of the contacts comefrom my live.com (outlook) email account - hoever when I go into live.com my contacts arent there. I was told to pull the contacts of live.com into an CSV file and then upload to cloud but on Live.com the only contacts are my linkedin contacts not the actual phone contacts
This is really becoming an issue and all the advice points towards getting the contacts from the relevant email accounts but that is proving impossible
SO i wondered if there was another way of pulling the information directly from the iphone (like in the good old days on Nokia!)
Please help!

If your contacts are stored on iCloud, you can export them in vCard format directly from the iCloud website to achieve this goal:

Can anyone help?The error message you're seeing is likely the other way around -- i.e. something like "This iPhone has previously been synced with a different computer". There's no problem syncing multiple iOS devices to the same computer.
However, the reverse is not true for the iPhone -- you cannot connect an iPhone to another computer without it being erased, even if you manually manage music and video. So, it sounds like you've been syncing your iPhone to a different computer?
Also, 5.1 (not 5.0.1) is the latest iOS. -
My laptop got formatted and so did all my itunes information like music, contacts, and games. So how can I get all that back because if I just plug my iPhone into the laptop all my stuuf that was on my phone will be gone? help please

You should be importing all pics/vids taken with your iphone to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera.
