Setup OneKey recovery after clean Windows 8.1 install

Hello,
I have Lenovo Z50-70 notebook. I bought a 32GB SSD to speed it up and installed it instead of optical drive as drive for system. I performed a clean Windows 8.1 install. Now I started looking for a way how to setup a one key recovery again. I found on some forums that you have to make some steps before installation itself or that you need some files which were preinstalled. I cannot reinstall system now and i have no backups of preinstalled tools. Is there any way to  set up one key recovery so the one key recovery button would work again and I would have a partition on my second drive (HDD) to backup my system (SSD) ? Is there a way to set it up so manually?
Thanks

You might be the second person that aim to do it with Cyberlink, the maker of the program, being the first. Good luck.

You can confirm whether or not these are malware by running a second malware app (Malwarebytes)  I suspect they are not and are just false positives
Please download the free version of Malwarebytes.
    Update it immediately.
    Do a full system scan

  • Clean Windows 8.1 install on Y40-80

    Hi All!
I just recieved my Y40-80, and so far it's looking good.
The only problem is that I think I would like to do a clean install of Windows 8.1 to get rid of all the bloatware and start fresh.  My understanding of the steps required are as follows:
    1. Find the exact version of Windows 8.1 I am using.  Download that version of Windows 8.1 from official sources and make a bootable USB stick.
    2.  Reinstall Windows 8.1 from the USB, formatting in the process.
    3.  Download and reinstall the Windows 8.1 hardware drivers from here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-y-series-laptops/y40-80?TabName
    Here are my questions:
    1.  Are the steps above correct?  Am I missing anything or doing anything wrong?
    2.  Are all the required drivers on Lenovo's site above?  Are any of drivers there unnescesary?
    3.  Should I worry about preserving the OneKey recovery partition, or should I let it go with the format?
    4.  Is any of the bundled software important or worth keeping?
    Thanks for you help!

I looked in the bios and I didn't see anything about the different partitions. Would I not be prompted to assign partitions during the Windows install? Or did you mean there was something else I have to set in the bios?
Answer: Bios and Partitions location are in the CMOS Chip and the HDD/SSD respectively. So if you're looking for the partitions in the bios you won't find any. While running the OS, if you press Winkey + X then select Disk Management you will see the partitions in the existing HDD/SSD.
During Windows Installation you will be ask where to install the OS in the displayed partition/partitions onscreen. The problem that you might encounter is which of the existing partitions to select. And will the installer proceed with the selected partition.
Regarding OKR: I'm not really too interested in preserving the partition to do a factory restore, but it would be nice to make one once I've set up the clean install. Is this something that needs to be set up during the initial installation or can it be done after?
Answer: You can't create the OKR partitions after the clean install. And you can't create the OKR partitions before the clean install without using any other method. What I mean is that you can create the partitions but it will not be able to function properly together with the NOVO button.
EDIT: Alternately, can I do a clean install without removing the original factory restore partition? It might be nice to have it there as a backup plan.
Answer: AFAIK, when it is a clean install there should be no other partitions except those use by the installed OS. So the original restore partition/partitions will not exist after the clean install process.

  • Can't scan over the network after clean windows 8 install

My wife's hard drive recently crashed (it was Windows 7 32bit).  I replaced the drive and installed Windows 8 64bit, and then upgraded to 8.1.  I did the 8.1 update before I installed any software (i.e., canon drivers).
Everything seems to work fine but when we try to scan to her pc via the wireless network we get the error message.  We are initiating the scan from the device panel.
MP Navigator EX corresponding to the printer  you intend to use, may not be installed correctly.  Reinstall MP Navigator EX, and then try again.
I've uninstalled and re-installed several times.  Tried running as administrator. There aren't many settings to change in the Navigator software.  I'll attach some screen shots.  If you need any more information let me know.  Any help at all would be great.  If we can't get it working we'll probably scrap the thing and get something else.
    Thanks!!!

I suggest uninstalling the full feature software from both PCs and re-installing and configuring the software on both.
Are you using the HP Solution center to scan? It is in Dutch, but the images are the same as what you should see in a correctly installed full feature software package.

  • Database Recovery after a windows crash....

    hi gentlemen(& women too ;)).
I wanna know that is it possible to run my database from a stage where I left when a windows crash occured and I had to reinstall the windows from the scratch??? Keep in mind that I was using Oracle-8.03 personal edition and I installed the Oracle on a different partition than that of Windows. So only program files were lost with windows crash while the data files(along with Oracle Home Directory) are still there.

    Kamran,
The new install of windows will not have a registration for the oracle software and the services for the databases.
As such you will have to reinstall the oracle software.
If space is not an issue, rename the existing oracle home and reinstall the software. In this way you can reuse the original databases created.
    Thank you
    Syed

  • Data recovery after 'clean install'

    Hello,
My daughter's Macbook Air suffered the 'hinge' problem, and was returned to Apple for service. Some idiot at the Apple Depot did a clean install of OS X for absolutely NO reason.
I'm looking for the best way to access the hard drive externally (via USB only) so I can run Data Rescue and attempt to rescue her files.
Obviously I'd use Firewire target disk mode if the Airbook has Firewire port.
    Any ideas?
    thanks much

There is no way to directly access the hard drive via USB like Target Disk Mode. If you have Data Rescue on a bootable DVD, then you can attempt to boot the computer from an optical drive just as you would to install OS X. Alternatively, if you have an 8 or 16 GB flash drive you can install OS X on it then copy Data Rescue to it. Then boot the computer from the USB flash drive. If Data Rescue is on a bootable DVD you can clone the DVD to a flash drive.
Note that having installed OS X on the erased drive as well as having used the drive compromises the ability to rescue files. Once files are overwritten they cannot be recovered.

  • Clean Windows 8.1 install on Yoga 3: needed? cautions?

    Greetings!
Having just read about the Superfish spyware/malware/bloatware, I was gladdened to see it is not on my new Yoga 3. However, the issue got me to this article about doing a clean install to remove all Lenovo apps: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2015/02/save-yourself-from-your-oems-bad-decisions-with-a-clean-insta...
Questions: will this resolve the infamous lcmfrundll errors and associated problems? Any benefits? And warnings other than time lost?
What Lenovo apps are absolutely necessary for the Yoga 3 to function fully?
Thanks in advance for all ideas!

  • Clean Windows 8.1 install on Split 13 x2

I have been unable to solve a Windows 8.1 boot failure on a customer's Split 13 x2.  The system will boot from a Windows 8.1 recovery USB stick that I created.  I can see the volumes on the disk and bcdedit seems to display the correct information but Windows will not load.  No error is displayed.  Automatic repair did not fix the problem.
At this point, I'm inclined to reinstall Windows 8.1 cleanly.  Problem is, customer does not have his license key. So now I'm back to trying to get this thing to boot to Windows.
    Thoughts?

    Hi:
Starting with all OEM PC's that come with W8, the product keys are encrypted in the BIOS, and work with recovery or OEM installation media.
So, a clean install would require the purchase of a Windows 8.1 OEM disk for the 'standard' or Pro version of W8.1, as applicable.
You could try downloading the applicable W8.1 installation media directly from Microsoft, and see if that works with the OEM key in the BIOS, but I think it may only be for retail installations.
However, here is the link and instructions for you to give it a shot.

Installation is successful but after first reboot I got display drivers issue (black screen and system running on).
I tried both ways and got the same issue:

    Hi
Only an Toshiba Blu-ray Player update from Win 8 to Win 8.1 can be downloaded.
The full version is not available for download.
This means that if you want to use the Toshiba Blu-ray Player, you have to go back to notebooks factory settings (including the Win 8 system). Then you should perform an update to Win 8.1. After that you could download the Toshiba Blu-ray Player- update (Win 8.1) package from Toshiba EU driver page.
If you dont want to perform this procedure, you could try an freeware software like VLC player.

  • Help with clean Windows 8.1 install Yoga 2 Pro

    Hey guys,
I purchased a Yoga 2 Pro about 4 months ago as a secondary computer for college. I've been a Mac user for most of my life, and was intersted in learning more about the Windows ecosystem. While messing around in the partition settings, I must have made a mistake, and deleted a partition. I've been trying to follow this guide from the forums, and have the PBR_DRV partition and a "Drive 0 Unallocated Space", as per the walkthrough, but I'm not able to install Windows 8.1 on the "Unallocated Space" from a flash drive. An error with a different code appears everytime. Could anyone help?

What do you mean by clean install?  Are you simply restoring a backup image of the pre-installed OS, or are you really installing with a new copy of Windows?
