Several apps crash since installation of QuickTime 7.5.5
Since the update to QuickTime 7.5.5 I am having problems with the following apps (so far):
- Preferences / Screensaver
- iChat
- Image Capture
These apps crash shortly after launch...
Hi there,
Problems here as well. Identical issue on two different machines. Video plays for 2 or 3 seconds then freezes. In a DVD skipping a chapter plays the next 3 seconds then it freezes again.
In Elgato tv it seems to stream and save TV as you can use fast forward and rewind but you can't watch live TV.
Serves me right for updating two at the same time.
Tried the permissions trick but no change. Now trying download and reinstall (on one).
One is a G4 with latest version of 10.4 and the other is an Intel 2.66 latest iMac with latest version of 10.5.
How do I uninstall and get back to where I was? I assume I would need to uninstall iTunes as well? What a pain.
Many thanks in advance.
Martin.

Several Apps crash since update
Hi,
Since I downloaded an update, most of my appps crash.....any ideas to fix this? Has been very stable for a year +....
Console messages end like this:
truncated or malformed library: /System/Library/Printers/Libraries/libLW8Utils.dylib (file is empty)
I have downloaded the combo update (10.3.9) and used Pacifist to help, but still get the same console message.....
Any ideas? ThanksThanks Grant,
But things are worse now...I used Pacifist and now when I log in all I get is the Blue screen....My finder is not running....Could you Email me the file that is 52K? I will hopefully get things up and running....I wonder if it has something to do with my zif....
Thanks -
Different Apps Crashes since 10.8.5 upgrade
MacBook Pro, Retina, 13", Early 2013, Serial C0*******FRP
Since upgrading to 10.8.5 my applications tray to open apps and close inmediatly, it happened to Mail, Safari, Evernote, Firefox, Dock, Preview, Wunderlist, I already reinstall OS X or restart in safe mode and works fine for some time and sudenly another app crashed, lost icons on task bar and Safari. I move all my files an documents to a new user, aparently works fine for some time but after a few minutes problems start over again. A few minutes ago after a safe mode restart and restart in normal mode everything looks fine but at the moment plug in my Mac Display to my MacBook Pro trough Tunderbold port, starts crashing apps again, and the icons in Safari menu and finder disapeer so, I repeated the process, restart in safe mode, restart in normal mode and not connect the external Display, for now everything works fine for an hour.
Already have installed Combo Update, Supplemental Update.
The crash report in each case looks like this:

CC Desktop app crashes mid-installation
Hey,
I work in a post-production facility, and every time we need to install an update for CC, at least half of our machines experience problems with the CC Desktop App - most of the issues have to do with softwares not showing up as installed (even though they are), and hitting "install" again on those machines, removes user preferences. The bigger issue is when the Desktop App wont launch at all, or it launches but then crashes after a few seconds, with restart being the only way to bring it back.
Needless to say these issues are problematic, but since the internet is flooded with complains I assume you're already aware of them.
The bigger problem is this time around, one of the machines that had the Desktop App crash, didn't launch the app back after restart.
I tried following the recommended instructions, removed the app with the CC Cleaner tool, changed the OOBE folder name to OOBE.old, restarted the machine again and downloaded the newest version of CC installer from the Adobe website.
When trying to reinstall, the installer reaches the "Installing" phase and crashes (more like "disappears"), without giving any form of error massage.
I should note that the machine is a mac pro (running OS X 10.9), and that before running the reinstall I checked that no processes related to adobe were running and manually made sure the CC desktop app was completely removed. I also tried installing from different users but am getting the same results.
Have you seen this issue before? Is there something else I didn't try?
Or alternatively, can I somehow download offline installers for the latest update? Having access to offline installers would make our update process way easier, both on us and on our bandwidth (having to log in to different machines and download the same updates over and over again isn't the greatest way, especially while the desktop app is so unpredictable and still has major issues).
Thanks!
MichaelFor people who might be having the same issue - I ended up half-solving this by copying over and replacing the entire CC Desktop App folder (under Applications > Utilities) from another machine that was working fine.
Now the Desktop Application is actually able to launch, but for some reason After Effects is stuck at 76% updating, giving an error message that AE needs to be closed before continuing. Thing is that AE is definitely not running - I made sure of that using both activity monitor and via the command line, and also tried restarting the machine, but am still getting the same error.
I than tried quitting the CC Desktop app and launching AE (which was obviously not updated), than chose "updates" from inside AE. It launched the old adobe application manager (the machine also has CS5 installed), and installed the updates from there, where everything seem to install fine with no problems. -
HT4528 Apps crashing since last update...?
My apps have been crashing since the last update for the iPhone 5... Anyone else having that issue?

Why can't I use several apps anymore since update to iOS8?
It really harasses me not being able to use several apps on my iPad anymore since I updated to iOS8. I paid for some of them not to long ago!!! Why doesn't Apple warn people that some apps will not work anymore when you update? I have already contacted the developers but they told me, that Apple has changed such a lot, that it would take them too much time to make their apps compatible.
Apple should offer the ability to downgrade the device back to the previous version of iOS for people in your situation.
I learned the hard way, long ago: don't upgrade unless you HAVE TO. It's almost always best to never update more than one major version past the one your Mac or i-device came with. It will become slow and laggy, as the newer systems are made to run best on newer hardware. Plus you get to deal with apps breaking, since Apple has a very small commitment, if any, to backwards compatibility.
I've had Apple render all my software obsolete and non-functional twice and major portions of it one more time, during the 68000-PPC-Intel-32bit-64bit transitions. I always knew it would happen with iOS eventually, as well.
Sadly many great developers and their great apps were killed off by these transitions since they were smaller devs who could not justify redoing a niche product that didn't pay their bills well enough. It's part of life, like when a great restaurant goes away. Nothing lasts forever.
My advice is that you buy a used device with the iOS version you prefer. I still have iOS 6 on my iPad because it does everything I want, and who knows if these apps will still work on newer versions, or if the iPad will become unusably laggy. Besides, I greatly prefer the look-and-feel of iOS 6 with its gray UI and easy-on-the-eyes, subdued tonality. I cannot stand the stark, bland, oppressive whiteness of iOS 7–8. To each their own.

IPad NOTES app crashing since 7.0.1 update
I updated my iPad to iOS 7.0.1 yesterday, and am finding that the Notes app crashes every time I try to update certain notes that I created today on my iPad 3.
I use Notes more than a few times a day, and have over 700 notes in one notepad which convieniently backs up to my Gmail and is searchable there. So, I hope that Notes crashing gets fixed soon. I've tried other Notes apps such as Notebook+ and Noteability and Evernote, but I keep returning to the Apple Notes app for its convenience and simplicity.Same issue here, with iPad 3. Notes worked at first after update. Then, it crashed while I was searching for a Note. I have also quit app, and restarted iPad, but as soon as i open Notes it briefly flashes that last screen I was on (I had been searching for a note, so it briefly shows the keyboard, the list of notes on the left, and the search box) and then immediately shuts down again.
I looked for notes in Spotlight Search, as someone suggested, but got the same result when i tried to open it from there.
Nothing seems to resolve it. really hoping I don't need to reboot the whole thing and start all over again setting up all of the other apps that required passwords, verification codes, etc etc.... -
Apps crashing since Mountain Lion Installation
I am losing money since upgrading to Mountain Lion because the apps I use to work with won't open fully. They open then immediately crash. It's very frustrating and I'm behind on deadlines. I've reinstalled ML and reinstalled apps until blue in the face. Are there any known solutions anyone can share? Thanks!
Moving this discussion to the InDesign forum.
Before you try reinstalling can you please post the specific error message you are receiving. The users in this forum may have suggestions for you to try besides removing and reinstalling the software. -
Photo App Crashes Since Upgrade to IOS 8
Since I updated to IOS 8 I cannot get the "PHOTO" app (not Iphoto) to stay open...will open for 1-2 seconds and then crash. Works perfectly fine on my Ipad Retina, but other Ipad, which is a generation behind just crashes. Itunes shows the photos are loaded on the Ipad. Can anyone offer a suggestion?
Thanks!Hi Ikespy,
If you are having issues with a built-in app like Photos, you may want to first try resetting your iPhone:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
If you are still having issues after a reset, you may want to make sure you have a current backup of your data in iTunes, then try restoring your iPhone to factory settings and testing it in that default condition to see if the issue persists before restoring your data. You may find the following article helpful:
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

Mac Apps crash since installing Yosemite
I have just upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite on my early 2008 17 inch MacBook Pro (2.6 GHz Intel Core Duo, 4GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, 512 GB OCZ SSD Drive). The upgrade worked without hitch although for some reason it changed my user profile to one that was hidden when I installed Mavericks. However changing the log-on user solved that and all my files and programmes were present. I have had though had some problems.
1) Parallels 10 lost the virtual drive and I was unable to to start Windows. I was able to relocate this and this is now working fine.
2) My iTune library disappeared completely and I was unable to see it to import it from my iTunes directory. I had to move the files to my desktop and then drag the music files into iTunes. I have lost a lot of the album artwork but I can live with this. There is though some corruption of the albums!
3) The most serious problem is the inability to open any of the Mac apps other than Mail, but even this is working only intermittently. The following programs all crash:
Calendar
Notes
Reminders
Messages
Facetime
Maps
Contacts have worked once but the folder is now empty. I have ensured that the accounts are correct but this does not help.
The initial error logs of the crashes are as follows

Thanks
LesSame problem here. I was having the same problem before update to Yosemite, but then my HDD was in bad shape, so I upgraded with a Samsung EVO 840 SSD (I use a Macbook Pro mid 2010), and the problem continues: out of nothing Safari says it can't connect, tried Chrome and it just pops once e nothing happens, when clicking on Firefox it says it already have an window opened, Mail doesn't work, so I restart and it gets back to normal until the next crash...
Anyone?

Iphone App crashes since using Air 4.0
I have an APP called "Join Our Games Poker" into Itunes Store.
It was generated using Flash Builder 4.7 with Air 3.9 SDK. But since Apple change the requirements in the store, the only way
to get an APP approved is using the Air 4.0 SDK Build 1619 or higer versions (now Im trying with Air SDK 13.0).
Now I'm trying to publish a similar APP that uses the same code that Join Our Games Poker has, but with different name and graphics.
I have to use Air 4.0 SDK Build 1619 or Air 13.0 to be able to publish it in the store.
If I run this new APP in any simulator or even directly into my Iphone 4S using the USB cable and debugging mode through Flash Builder 4.7, it works fine.
The same is true when I export a release build of this APP for Android.
But when I export a release build for Iphone Distribution or AdHoc versions, my APP runs fine for a while, but at some point it crashes. Any clue about the problem I have? Thanks.
When I use Air 4.0, I got this log file in the Iphone 4S:

[SOLVED] GUI apps crash since upgrade to KDE 4.6.3
I am having trouble with some GUI apps (amarok, kdenlive) crashing when trying to access new stuff (music or video) since I upgraded to KDE 4.6.3.
message is the same with both program :
KCrash: Application 'amarok' crashing...
KCrash: Attempting to start /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/drkonqi from kdeinit
any idea why ? couldn't find anything helpful on the forum or internet....
regards
Olivier
Last edited by supercow (2011-05-31 20:59:33)ok I solved Amarok crash....my /var was full preventing any write in it. I guess that reading an uncached music in amarok would try to write to /var/tmp directory.
Still got my problem with Kdenlive...

App crashes since relase of AIR 2.6, thoughts?
We have an app that allows our home workers to access our games and chat products in one place. It's not been modified for a long while. Since the recent release of AIR 2.6, a lot of our workers have been experiencing fatal crashes, that only give only the choice to close the program.
Here is an example of a Window Crash report we have been supplied with (None of our Mac users have crashed as far as we are aware)

Any one else expericenced similar issues with the release of AIR 2.6? Apps that have not be changed but now fail if AIR is updated. We have currently been unable to pinpoint a particular action causing the ensuing crash but are continuting to investigate. Camera App Crash since update to IOS 7.1.1
Ever since I updated to IOS 7.1.1, i've noticed a strange behavior of the Camera app, on my iPhone 4S.
If I enable the HDR function, I can take a picture, but it will only save the non-HDR and then it crashes.
It's like it's having difficulties in saving the HDR photo.
When it occurs, I get the feeling that it might be memory related (as if it doesn't have enough free memory available to process & store the HDR photo).
I have enough memory available and also enough storage space.
This didn't occur before the 7.1.1 update.
I've tried a reboot of the phone, clean re-install in iTunes (iTunes redownloads the ipsw file), afterwhich I restore from latest backup, but the problem remains.
Anybody have any ideas, besides the ones i already tried? If you restore as a NEW device (not from a backup), does the same behavior occur?
