Several PDFs open even if just one is wanted

Hi!
For quite a few users here where I work it happens that when double-clicking a PDF in the Finder to open it in Acrobat, not only that PDF opens but a lot (50 or so) other PDFs that has been opened previously.
Is it is now I tell people to wait for all PDFs to open and then option/alt-click the close button to close all windows in one go. Doing this seems to help at least temporarily.
What is the cause for this and how can it be avoided?
The Creative Suite is deployed via a deployment solution (FileWave) so the software isn't really installed in a ”normal” way. I don't know it that's got anything to do with this behavior.

Excecute a planning sequence when open Web Template (JUST ONE TIME)

Hello experts,
I want to excecute a planning sequence everytime when a webtemplate is opened.
I use the "Action before first display" for this. The problem is, that the planning sequence is excecuted multiple times when I open the web template. The web template contains several queries. Could it be that the planning sequence is started for every query?
If yes is there a way to suppress this? I want to run the planning sequence just one time for the whole web template

Yes I tried in action before rendering it is the same behaviour with the difference that the sequence is also executed after clicking on a button with another planning sequence. Action before first display is excactly what I need but I want to run the sequence just one time when the web template is loaded and not for every query. We don't use tabs at all.

Printing PDFs - Can I Print Just One Page

I want to print one page of a multi-page .pdf document. There does not appear an option to just print one page when I go to print. Am I missing something? Please help.

Hi, Hope I can be of help.
Firstly, click on File, then 'Print'. This will drop the Print dialog page. You should see the following:-
At the top is the window indication your printer, next is 'Presets', then "Copies and Pages', then Copies (type in how many copies you need of any one page) and below this is 'Pages' with the selection defaulted on 'All' which, if you have a file with hundreds of pages, you won't want unless you need to print EVERY page in a folder. Click on 'From' and find the page you actually need to print.
If you click on 'Preview' first, a page will open showing everything that exists in a folder, but you only want to print page 34 (for example) so in the 2 fields next to the 'From' button, type in 34 in the first field, and then go to the next field and type in 34 again. This will ensure that ONLY page 34 will be printed.

When I try to insert several pdf files into an initial one, they consistently are attached in reverse order, no matter how I instruct the program. How do I correct this?

I am working with Acrobat X Pro. I open a pdf, then try to insert several files, in a specific order, into the first one. No matter whether I instruct it to place the files after the first, last or name a page number, the files are inserted in reverse order after the initial file. How do I overcome this problem?

Thanks Bill !! for providing the simple answer - this has saved me much work. I always assumed that Acrobat would either a) sort the inserted files alphanumerically or b) use the sort order of the OS's file selector. The c) answer of inserting the files in the reverse order of the OS file selector (since Acrobat will reverse that order) eluded me until now.
It's clearly a bug in the program, I'm using Acrobat X Pro, but had the exact same problem with Acrobat 7 - never occurred to me to sort the file listing in reverse alphanumeric order in order to have Acrobat insert them in correct alphanumeric order.

FCP Crashes when I try to open a project - just one project.

I even tried going to the Autosave Vault to open the latest saved file.
"Finder>Documents>Final Cut Pro Documents>Autosave Vault>Look for the folder with the project's name you are trying to open." Someone else had a similar issue and had success with that, but not me.
When I open the file it launches the latest FCP, but when it gets to 19% loaded FCP crashes and wants to report the error to Apple.
This file represents about one weeks worth of work, and FCP suddenly won't open this project anymore for some reason.
I made consistent backups, and even the backups won't work now.
How do people editing with FCP for a living survive if FCP does this??? This is unbelievable. If anyone can offer any ideas I would appreciate it.

Currently I have a schema that includes orders and the details associated with each order. Nothing real special or complicated. However both the Order and the Details can have a multitude of attributes associated with them. For example,

and in each case, the grouping will be at least 2 levels deep, will I need to build several different Fact dimensions, each with just the attributes that will be included in that hierarchy? Seems like it. This looks like what the
Adventureworks sample is doing with the different Fact dimensions that are setup for Internet Sales vs Reseller Sales.

IF I understand you question completely, you want to know that you need to create as many fact dimension as attributes you have in the fact table.
Yes this is right and this is called Degenerated dimension in the Data Warehousing concepts.
If you have too many attribute in the fact for the dimensional analysis then you can create a junk dimension as well including all the attributes in single database table. IN your case the ItemNumber and OrderID can be included in single junk dimension.

"open with" menu not showing in safari when having a pdf open. even when tabing the pdf in safari.....

As the title states....
In default settings when opening a pdf with safari and tabbing the page, there is a black bar (menu) on top of the pdf and it allows you to open in ibooks or open with another app....
I've noticed that with some (company) ipads this black bar is not available.... probably this is a security setting of some sort? But I can't seem to find it anywhere...
anyone any idea what I need to change?

Its old code from the menu maker that I havent updated (bought their update).
Save your money. AllWebMenus are notoriously bad. You would be much better off replacing what you have now with a good CSS Menu.

How can I set the default in "Write" to display several email address instead of just one?

Like to see more than one person on the Write screen at a time. The default seems to move the first one up.
I would rather like to have at least four be able to be seen without any scrolling of addresses. Am familiar with config editor if necessary.

On my system it was set to the default of 3 address fields. When I went into the config editor and modified the line quoted above to 5 and restarted Thunderbird, the next time I open a Write window I have 5 address fields.
Only after I fill those 5 fields does the first field scroll up and out of view.
Yes you can drag the bottom edge of the subject field down to show more fields but this is not permanent. The next time you open a write window it will show the number of fields set in the config editor.

When the cursor hovers over an email or link it opens even though I do not want it to open. This is seriously annoying and I am ready to quit firefox. Please help me fix this problem!!!

I think my explanation is enough, the link or email opens when my cursor hovers on it I want to click any link or email I want to see not have them open automatically!!!

thx for your response. are saying websites such as hotmail and yahoo mail detect that they are being accessed via firefox and turn off the JavaScript that makes hot links? really? additionally, i have friends with firefox in which hyperlinks stay active when they are copied and pasted.

I created several pdfs & saved them in adobe acrobat pro. I want to start all over & want to delete these pdfs so I am not confused with more than one document with similar titles. How do I delete the document

I am working on a big project & creating everything in word. I then am turning the documents into PDF format so they will be easy for everyone to open. I have several PDFs that are not the way I want them & want to delete them so I don't have so many documents with similar names. Is there a way to delete a pdf from my saved document?? This is probably very simple & I am over thinking it, but appreciate any help.

Cannot close or open tabs successively by one middle click

Hello,
I cannot close, or open tabs by just one middle click on every tab. It is like if there is a timeout before it opens or close a new tab again, or I have to double click with middle button.
I have taken a look in about:config but found nothing that indicates such a feature.

After reading through what I presume is your website, which is highly informative and very well written by the way, I come away with the impression that you really have a firm understanding of the dirty things that can go on inside your machine and how they manage to exploit certain vulnerabilities.
With respect to pop-up ads and Safari, I have a question that you may able to answer. Three parts:
(1) How are they managing to get around all reasonable methods to block pop-up ad scripts? One would think that your browser ought not perform automatic script functions (like opening a new page ... or several) without your doing anything.
By example, I'm on several forums and if I am sent a PM a notification pop-up will appear. Since I have Adblock software enabled, clicking OK will not send me directly to my inbox or open a new page as it would normally. In other words the software is actively blocking the re-direct script. Perfect. But if I go to some random website, especially ones that stream out of market Sports telecasts, it turns into a pop-up festival.
(2) Not even blacklisting certain URLs in AdBlock or trying to wildcard a URL in the blacklist stops them. Is there another method or tool you recommend?
(3) What is MacKeeper and why does 2 out of every 5 pop-up ads ask me to try MacKeeper. I swear, I'm surprised someone hasn't tired DDoS attack their website out of frustration from the way they invade your web experience.
Sidenote: Thank you creating AdWareMedic. I installed it this morning and ran a scan. Fortunately the report was clean, but I'll be adding this to my monthly system health check and clean-up.

Starting a new document with just one new site?

It seems that every little "site" I create ends up in the sites panel, cluttering things up.
I would like to refer to old sites sometimes, maybe, but most of the time I just want to start fresh and think only about the site I'm working on.
Is there a way to just have the current site in an iWeb document without seeing all the sites you've created back to the beginning of time?

I think my problem is simpler than that. Rather than wanting to use iWeb as a website management tool doing something complicated like that, what I would like to do is use it as a web authoring tool - create pages, publish them to folders, and later open them open again if I want to change things. So each folder would have a "project" file associated with it I guess.

How can I publish just ONE site

Everytime I create a new site and publish it to a folder (to place in my own domain) iWeb publishes ALL of the sites every time, no matter whether changes have been made to any site or not.
How do I publish just ONE site?
If I get mobile.me, will I be able to publish just the ONE site I wish to publish?

The file is damaged and could not be repaired." My friend made sure that the files in question opened without issue on his computer (a PC). Further, I was able to open one of these "damaged" files on my Android phone, but I cannot open them on the Macbook Air. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.
