Several things not working in Snowey Leopard! Are these issues common?

So I finally installed SL. Hm,..well, not sure if I like.
1. It claims to be faster, nope. This thing is a CPU hog.
2. I try to open iCal,...ha, it says this version of iCal can not be used with this OSX version. Now that's funny. How do I update iCal? By doing software update correct? No new version there.
3. I try to open Preview, no images.
4. Try to use Spotlight,...no response.
5. Try to open Logic Pro and Waveburner, it now asks me for my name and serial number?? As if this is the first time I am opening these?
I wonder if this can't be fixed if I should revert back to 10.5.8. But would that fix issue number 5?
I'm just wondering what is happening to Apple. Are they trying to copy Microsoft Vista?

Hey guys, thanks for the responses. Didn't mean to blow off anybody, I just got frustrated since I'm having several issues with my Mac (kaputt graphics card, computer won't restart, programs not opening,..etc etc).
My apologies if I did. I did create a new account and checked all the programs in question.
iCal DOES open in the new account but the others still don't work (Preview and spotlight). I'm not worried about the Logic and Waveburner at this point. I can't work with them anyway right now since I'm working in safe boot mode right now.
But, I gave some false info at the beginning. I did upgrade from 10.5.8 TO SL., BUT, what I completely did not think about is, I did an Archive and re-install of my old operating system (10.5). So, I re-installed 10.5, then updated via "check for updates" TO 10.5.8 and THEN upgraded to SL 10.6.2. Along the way, the programs in question must have gotten corrupt.
I guess the only option is to go back to 10.5.8?
Again, my apologies if one of my responses was a bit harsh, I'm just a bit frustrated, I have been working in this safe boot mode for the past 3 weeks.

Are mobile internet USB devices still not working on Snow Leopard? I actually had to go back to my previous operating system to get this to work. I would however prefer to use Snow Leopard...if Apple & HUAWEI have finally got their act together!

There appears to be a problem with drivers for USB wireless modems with 10.6. I upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard and now can't connect to the internet with my wireless modem. I hope Apple sort this out soon. Or maybe it's Huawei that needs to put a 10.6 driver into its software.

If you have a backup, it is very easy to revert back to your previous system setup.
If you don't, then the downgrade is much harder to accomplish as it require a complete clean install of OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.
Before going down that laborious road! maybe you tell us what issues you are having.

How do I deal with things not working in PS CC?

I need some advise in how to troubleshoot various difficulties.
Last time I used Photoshop was like over many years ago like in version 2 or somewhere close to it and I am running into problems with it.
I have creative cloud version of photoshop. I have been following tutorials even got the book Adobe Photoshop CC In The Classroom.
But I keep running into things not working for me.
I am in the first lesson learning how to open files with the shortcut keys and nothing is happening.
Yesterday I was trying to follow tutorial in PSDtuts on perspective I found via the learning section of Adobe.
First issue I had was I think program is geared towards CS6.
It seems like most tutorials are geared for CS6.
I have similar tools as CS6 I assume but when I follow along they don't work like the tutorials.
Example first problem I had was making perspective line with the little triangle tool I can't remember of name of on the top.
I was suppose to move the line every 2 degrees making more lines but my line kept shrinking until it vanished.
And then when I was working Vanishing Point I couldn't get feature I wanted in the settings, it was grey out.
Any pointers in how to resolve this?

Here is the smallest I can go without losing the image. Ugh sorry the site did scramble the display of words for me for me so you can't see the words. But if you look in PS its in Effects drop down window its there sort of in middle of the list to the end called "Vanishing point."
Here is the vanishing point tool before and being selected with the grayed out area. Only way to get the graph back in from the tutorial said I need to select "Render Grid to Photoshop" but its grayed out.
My cap lock wasn't on. It was the ctrl alt shift short cut and I think in that case I didn't understand that it open PS when it was already closed but still seem to be messing up. I thought it was short cut key to open new file.

Try a couple of basic troubleshooting steps that can apply to any iPad issue.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit the mail app and restart. In order to quit or close apps - Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
None of these things may work, but without more specific information, they are a good place to start.

I got a C6280 and the scanner does not work anymore. I am for 6 days in contact with HP. The last printer driver install form the apple web site does not open the image of HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers.dmg because of an invalid checksum. The skipping of the validation gives and error in the install.

Do a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.
If that does not help, take it to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs check it out to make sure there is not a hardware issue.

WxPerl not working in snow leopard

wxPerl seems to be not working in Snow Leopard.
The command:
wxPerl -e "use Wx;"
Gives:
Can't find 'boot_Wx' symbol in /System/Library/Perl/Extras/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level/auto/Wx/Wx.bundle

Compilation failed in require at -e line 1.

Is this a known bug ? Is there a work-around ?

I did both of what you suggested (and provided very detailed specifics of the wxPerl broken code) and was told:
1st Case (Feedback): No response to my feedback
2nd Case (ADC bug report): No response after obtaining an ADC account and filing a bug report
Next, I wrote a letter to Apple, addressed to the "Macintosh Software Development Manager," providing details of the wxPerl broken code problem, the "Problem Details and System Configuration" error log from one of the many failures while trying to launch the TivoTool 0.7.0 application, remarked on the length of time that this wxPerl code has been broken (broken in 10.5.x & 10.6.x software releases) and detailing how this is disabling the TivoTool application and any other user that is dependent on wxPerl functioning. I asked that a trouble report be opened, the problem resolved, and the fix be made part of a software update. Additionally, I requested an estimated date for this resolution to be included in a software update.
I also sent a copy of this letter and enclosures, along with a cover letter, respectively addressed to Mr. Steve Jobs, asking that he provide the proper resources to clear this long time defective code.
Within a couple of weeks (on March 5, 2010) I received a telephone call from an Apple Executive Contact (named "Nate"), due to the letter addressed to Mr. Jobs. After gathering details on the broken wxPerl code, he promised to contact the software development folks and get back to me with his findings. Within a week of this initial contact, he again telephoned (on March 9, 2010) to say that he had contacted the software development folks, provided the information from my broken wxPerl report, that a trouble ticket was opened on the wxPerl broken code problem, and that the wxPerl broken code problem appeared to be a "low runner," e.g. not many users had reported the wxPerl broken code. Additionally, since the broken code was a "low runner," there was no target date to fix the wxPerl broken functionality.
He suggested, until the wxPerl broken functionality was resolved, that I might want to keep a 10.4.x System hard drive available, so that when I needed the wxPerl functionality, I could boot my Mac under 10.4.x, perform my wxPerl work (e.g. use TivoTool), and then re-boot again later, under 10.6.x to use the TivoTool obtained files.
He also suggested that I make sure that the Software Update System Preference be enabled to automatically check for updates ("Scheduled Check" tab). He added that I shouldn't rule out that the wxPerl broken code functionality might one day be resolved through a Software Update.
I was given a case number, for future reference and to allow me to check the status of my wxPerl broken functionality trouble report.
As my dad used to say, "That's all she wrote."
So, because this is a "low runner" (e.g. not many people have noticed and reported the broken wxPerl code), I'd be surprised (but very delighted) to see a wxPerl fix delivered by Apple in the near future. After all, wxPerl has been broken since leaving Mac OS 10.4.x (wxPerl broken in 10.5.x and 10.6.x software releases).
I last spoke to Nate regarding this issue on Mach 9, 2010.
I have not included Nate's telephone number out of a courtesy to Nate, as he is not a technical person, only a contact that handles issues which have been escalated to Apple executives.

According to Roaring Apps, there is a version of Protools compatible with Lion. But you may need Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to buy either Lion or ML on MAS. It looks like you need to get up-to-date with your OS and the apps too.

Are there any error messages?
Knowing what you see or are experiencing can help diagnose it.
In the meantime, a common fix, hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds and see if you can force it to rebood. If you see a silver apple, let go and let it reboot and see if that helps.

I haven't heard other reports of this (though there was an issue quite some time ago where deleting pages on this combination of Acrobat/OS was challenging).
Can you please tell me what happens when you try to replace pages? Do you get an error message? Are you able to manipulate pages otherwise (delete, extract, and so on)? Is this issue unique to one file, or does it happen with all PDF files?

You bought a used iPhone. Amazon is not an authorized supplier of iPhones, nor are any of the 3rd parties that sell iPhones there.
You can make an appointment at the genius bar and have it looked at.
If you are very very lucky, it is still under warranty and it wasn't opened or otherwise tampered with before you bought it. In which case, Apple will replace it under warranty.
If it's not under warranty, they will replace it for $199.
If it has been opened or tampered with, they won't touch it.
