Several vs One Wiki Library Page

In SharePoint 2010 site, I created a few Wiki Library Pages. I wonder if I should create only ONE Wiki Library Page and then create links to other pages. Or shall I keep it as it is. I mean create separate Wiki Library pages to separate logic? Does this
impact performance?
Thanks a lot!
Mayank

do you want to use Enterprise wiki site template  and then wiki library in it?
or you using the wiki libraries in the team site?
if it is multiple site collection then i think communication between library will be issue. check the below.
Because an Enterprise wiki can generate
a high level of network traffic, you might find it necessary to configure a single site collection and a single, dedicated Microsoft SQL Server database. If the Microsoft SQL Server database is shared, users might experience slower performance

  • Trouble Inserting Graphics in SharePoint Wiki Library page

I've set up a Wiki library page on a Sharepoint site and built half-inch square jpeg graphic icons to use as hyperlink "buttons" to open linked resources.   Inserted first
12 or so no problem.  After that, when I insert a new jpeg, sometimes the graphic appears and sometimes just the file name of the graphic in a little box.  Can't figure out why the graphic image itself does not always appear.
    Any insights?

    Hi,
From your description, when you replaced the icon of a hyperlink with a picture, it showed only file name instead of picture itself. If I misunderstood, please point it out.
We need more investigations for further troubleshooting:
Could you see the problematic picture in the Site Assets (assuming you choose to upload it to Site Assets when inserting the picture)?
Did you insert from computer or address?
Did you see the red x when it only showed the file name?
Please also capture the screen shot for the correct and incorrect display of the hyperlink picture.

  • How can I copy a page from one wiki to another?

Using the Wiki function in OSX server, I am able to move a page from one wiki to another by clicking the gear icon. Is there a way to copy the page to another wiki while leaving it intact in its existing wiki? I have tried to copy/paste while editing a page, however much of the formatting does not properly migrated to the pasted content.

What you are looking for is how to "duplicate" ca page.

  • I am new to pages and want to know how to link elements together to create one unified element that I can then duplicate several times on the same page?

I think you are talking about grouping objects.
    1. They must all be floating objects
    2. Command click on each in turn

  • Several users - one library

We have one itunes library were we like to keep all our music together, but as we are several users, we like to have different user accounts to enable parental control on kids and more freedom of surfing for parents. Now, when my son opens the Mac with his account, he does not find any music in iTunes. How can we share the same library between several users?

    monica MF wrote:
Sorry forgot to say that nothing is shared in the system preferences
enable +file sharing+. when you click on that entry, you can add +shared folders+ as you see fit (via the little "+" sign).
also, under users, you can add users and give them +read & write+ access (or just give everyone +read & write+ access).
in options, i have enabled +share files and folders using AFP+
play around with these settings until all users have access to the iTunes lib in the shared folder.
sorry, i am the only user on my machines so i cannot exactly reproduce your problem

when I click on purchase book, i get message "Incomplete Book. Your book seems to have frames on one or more pages that do not contain photos." I have checked the page layouts several times and no missing seem to be missing. Any suggestion? page layouts and number of photos are consistent. several pages are identified as custom, as a result of captions added to several photos. I'm using a macpro and iphoto11.

There is one or more missing photo - typically a page background requiring a photo that is hidden behind a layout with photos in it - look through every page for that - any page tha thas a grey background rather than color is a problem - and it ccan be behind a full page photo so you have to check the page background rather than just look at the page

  • I have several iPhoto and aperture libraries... i want to get to one iPhoto library keeping only the latest photos. How can I do this?

Okay... I made the mistake of creating duplicate Aperture libraries because I decided I wanted to only use Aperture - then the news that Aperture is no longer going to be developed. I then confused myself and created duplicate iPhoto libraries (I can't even remember why anymore). At one point or another I have edited pictures in all of them and have no idea which pictures were edited. I just want to have one iPhoto library with the most recently edited photos and remove all the duplicates.
What is the best way to do this?
And... after doing all that, I need to keep backups of my photos on an external drive. What is the best way to do this?
    iPhoto version 9.5.1
Thank you so much for any advice you can provide!

You can merge libraries into one with Aperture 3.3. or later.
Aperture 3.3: How to use Aperture to merge iPhoto libraries
In merge-mode it will only keep the photos from one of the libraries.
And you can use Aperture to export partial libraries containing only the selected albums, projects, etc.
If you need to keep projects (books, calendars, cards) when merging your libraries, use Aperture and not iPLM:

  • Combine iTunes from several computers(all macs) to make one full library???

I have iTunes on our desktop and two laptops, and my iPod is synced to my personal laptop. All of the computers have the some of the same music, but each has additional music we have added over time. How do I load the music from both laptops to the desktop, so my husband and I can have one main library we can both connect our iPods to? Do I just connect each laptop to the iMac using a firewire? If I'm in target mode and drag the iTunes folder from the laptop to the desktop, does it replace the folder on the desktop? Thereby losing the desktop files not on the laptop? I just want to make sure that I don't lose any music in turn having to download or copy CDs over again.
We want to save space on our laptops by removing the music files so I am also looking to "share" iTunes on each of our laptops sort of wirelessly from the main computer. We will only use the main computer from now on to add music to the library.
If there are step-by-step instructions this would be fabulous because somehow even if i think I know what I am doing I always mess it up.

Don't mess about with the iTunes Library folder - that way lies madness. Locate the files in the 'Music' display of iTunes, select them and drag them to a folder on your Desktop. Move them, over the network through file sharing, or using and external disk or USB stick, to the Mac(s) you want the songs to appear on. Select all the songs and drag them into the iTunes list. They will be indexed and show properly. Repeat as necessary with other computers.
iTunes offer s 'Home Sharing' facility: I've not tried it - please see this Apple Tech Note and see if it suits you:

  • How do I share one Iphoto library with other User accounts on the same iMac

I have created a shared Iphoto Library. When I add this to one of the user accounts, it copies all the pictures instead of sharing the same library. The result is that it uses memory.
Is it possible to create a shared library that is shared by all the users without actually copy all the pictures to each users Iphoto library?

    Hi MikaelK,
    SHARING IPHOTO LIBRARIES
Sharing libraries between users on the same local network
You can also share a library on the same machine between users the same way.
Sharing libraries between users on the same machine...
-both users must have sharing enabled in their iPhoto Preferences
-both users must be logged in and have iPhoto running
-Remember that you can only view the other library. You can't edit the photos or play the saved slideshows or view the made books or burn them to CD or DVD. The books and slideshows will show up as an album. You can play that album as an "on the fly" slideshow. You can drag images from the sharing library to your library in the source column to import them to your library. You can then edit, add to albums, books, slideshow, etc.

SHARING ONE IPHOTO LIBRARY BETWEEN USERS ON SAME MACHINE
You can try one of these three methods:
1- Use iPhoto Library Manager-the paid version
The documentation page will give instructions on how it is done.
2- Sharing one iPhoto library between several users on one machine
3- Share an iPhoto Library in tiger Using ACL's
4- I have also read about ShareAlike
There is no other info on the site about how it works.
I strongly urge anyone wanting to try any of the methods for sharing one iPhoto Library folder among more than one user to backup all iPhoto Library folders before attemptin anything.

  • Organizing Photo Library Page Hints

I do not run a business, but rather enjoy my computer for home use... so my hints for organizing an iPhoto Library Page relate to personal/home use. I have iPhoto 6.0.5 (316) on my computer.
Regarding the "View" of the Library Page, I do keep my "Film Rolls" labeled and in order. Others in this forum have discussed managing the "Film Rolls" in depth so I will not go into that here.
I believe that what has helped me the most with organizing my photos, and I do have 3074 photos entered right now in iPhoto and have only had this computer since the end of July 2006, is the use of FOLDERS & ALBUMS under the Source list on the left side of the iPhoto Library Page.
I have one FOLDER for each month labeled such as: 2006/07, 2006/08, 2006/09. That way the folders will stay in numerical order in the source list. And at the end of each month I do make a DVD, using iDVD. At the end of the year, I will consolidate those monthly folders for 2006 into ONE folder labeled with an asterisk and the year's date like *2006.
Inside each monthly FOLDER, I have three more FOLDERS separately labeled Family, Friends, General. This helps me to categorize my photos a bit more.
Inside each of these three Family, Friends, General folders, I make ALBUMS of particular happenings like a birthday, Labor Day, or family gathering, and stash the album into the appropriate folder. I will label these albums similar to the folders dates, only I will include the entire date & event such as: 08/02/06 Nellie's Birthday, 08/14/06 Family Reunion, 08/16/06 Day At The Beach. That way those albums will stay in numerical order too within the individual folders. I do keep these photos individually labeled too within the albums. No excuses on labeling photos when you can at least make one broad category name on several photos at once with "Batch Change" and let the Batch Change label & number each of the several photos at one time. That way the "search" feature at the bottom of the iPhoto Library Page can be easily used to locate a photo, or a group of photos.
At the end of every month, I do burn a CD of that month’s still photos for a back-up. I also make a DVD that has fun presentations to share with others, rather than just clicking through still shots on a CD to share the photos. For instance, at the end of the month, with the photos already organized into folders for particular happenings, it only takes a few minutes to put together a slideshow, or to add the photos to a video movie that I had taken during the month, or to make a Quicktime Movie, or even to put together a book in iPhoto, but rather than having the book printed, just make the book into a slideshow that has flipping pages and also has music. Because the photos are already in order in the ALBUMS, getting them into the mode of presentation that you choose takes hardly any time to burn them on to a DVD.
I follow through with the same type of organization [as shared above] when I make the monthly DVD, by using the iDVD theme menu that has the shelves with the THREE photo frames. I title the DVD menu page on top for the month, like September 20006 TOTAL COLLECTION. I label each of those picture frames... yes, you guessed it: Family, Friends, General. In the sub menus for each of those frames, I then place the album presentations for that month, whether it is a slideshow or movie. The labels on the fronts of the actual DVDs also have the same THREE breakdowns with Family, Friends, General, and the names of the movie, or slideshow that was in the album in that category. I also pick out one photo to represent each of the three categories and print that on the label as well.
If anyone has any questions, or comments about this organization for photos in iPhoto Library Page which I have been using, please feel free to share.

    OldGal
Are these titles of folders or image files?
    Smith/John By The Beach
    Smith/John Sitting Down
    Smith/Jane Running Up Hill
If they are folder titles then you can drag each folder into the open iPhoto application window to create a new roll with the same name as the folder.
You can also select specific photos in the main library window and use the File->Create Film Roll menu option to create a new roll containing just those photos. (You must be in the main library for that menu option to be active).
Terence's recommendation of Smart Albums is a good way of grouping photos with similar attributes, keywords, date or date range, file name or partial file name, title or partial title, etc.
You can use multiple keywords on one file like John, Joan, jane, etc. then you can find all photo associated with one or all of those keywords keywords by clicking or option-clicking on more than one of those keywords in the Keyword pane.
You can create a test library, import couple of folders into it and then test out the various ways to organize your photos before applying them to your primary library.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • Wiki home page missing graphics

When visiting the wiki main page, the four icons in the center of the page (the ones for My Documents, All Activity, Wikis and People) are missing. Safari reports that the graphic files are not found at their expected location of _wiki/coreclientbase/stylesheets/wikieditor/img/serverhome/serverhome_mydocumen ts.png (you can substitute the other icon names in at the end of that location.) I'm running OS X 10.9.5 and Server.app 3.2.1 on a Mac Mini server.
Has anybody seen this before and does anybody have any idea as to how to get the graphics to properly display? I've attached a screenshot for reference.
    Thanks,
    Steve

Actually, a cleaner approach to configure this work-around is to keep the redirect in a separate include config file just for the wiki webapp:
    sudo vim /Library/Server/Web/Config/apache2/other/wiki_redirect.conf
         RewriteEngine On
         RewriteRule ^/__wiki/(.*) /__collabd/$1 [R]
The (again as root) add the following line to the "includeFiles" array in "/Library/Server/Web/Config/apache2/webapps/com.apple.webapp.wiki.plist":
                            <string>/Library/Server/Web/Config/apache2/other/wiki_redirect.conf</string>
This means you need not to edit the original "httpd_corecollaboration_shared.conf" as suggested above.
Finally restart the the wiki service.

  • One of my pages keeps requesting login

I have been struggling mightily with this problem. After many hours searching Apple forum and a one hour mobile webchat support, I am no closer to solving this problem.
I have a website created in iWeb being hosted on MobileME with four pages. One of the pages (only) keeps requesting a log in.
    The URL is;
    http://www.ajmusiconline.com/Site/Library.html
    The error I get is:
Authentication Required A username and password are being requested by http//idisk.mac.com. The site says:"me.com"
I have found several threads discussing this issue but none have any solutions.
I am using Wimpy3 mp3 players on the page and wonder if that is the problem.
    ANYONE?? Please help!
    Thanks
