Several WLS 6.1 instances proxied by one Apache instance

Group,
Environment: WLS 6.1, Apache 1.3.20, Solaris 8, UDB 7.2
Is it possible to proxy several instances of WLS 6.1 through one Apache
instance on port 80 via the <location> tag in the conf? It seems there is
no way to specify different weblogic ports for each <location> tag (i.e.
http://www.somewebserver.com/instance1 proxies to weblogic instance1,
http://www.somewebserver.com/instance2 proxies to weblogic instance2, etc.)
Is this possible?
Thanks for any info,

  • Indesign CS6 Server: Multiple instance configured, just one random instance come up?!

    Hello everyone,
we have a problem with our Indesign server. It is configured to run as service on a Windows 2008 R2. We configured one instance with the management snap - that worked well. So we decided to add more instances and now the problems start: If I start the indesign server service all configured instances come up as process. But only a random one comes up able to process jobs. The other instances are dead - they don't even open a port. And I could see that the dead instances take hardly memory (ca. 50MB). The working instance takes ca. 260MB RAM directly after launching the service. What we are doing wrong?
As you can see the instance with the PID 7832 takes a lot more RAM - thats the working instance. I checked with "netstat -an" for the ports 4711-4714 - just port 4713 was open.
Thanks for your help and Regards from Germany

  • Is there a way of making one portal instance serve several domain names ?

We have one Portal instance (3.0.8) that contains one Intranet, one Extranet and 5 Internet sites (Page hierarchies). After redirecting calls to the diffrent domains (sites) to their corresponding Portal page in the webserver, the URL reveals that we are actually running all these sites on the same Portal domain. I know that we can change the Portal domain by running the ssodatan script, but is it possible to have one portal instance work for several Portal domains ? I realise that this is probably far fetched, but I just had to ask... This will not create a big problem for us, it's mostly an esthetical issue.
    Morten

    Yes you can do this.
Your machine must have multiple IPs with a different name associated with each IP.
Look at the ssodatax scripts. This script allows you to make additional entries into the login server repository to register new names with the login server.
Add each name using the ssodatax script and you will be fine.

  • Connect one BO instance with several BW

    Hi experts,
I'm new to BO and I have a very newbi arquitectural question to ask, and I thought to start with the experts.
Do you advise having one BO instance connected to several BW sources?
The plan is to have one BO connected to a sandbox, dev and qas BW systems.
However I don't know if it's even possible, and if it is, then the configuration work to have such a landscape is probably more than having several BO instances.
On BO side only WebI will be used.
    Any suggestions or comments?
    Best regards,
    João Pinto

    Hi guys,
    thanks for your answers.
I think my main doubt is now partially answered (technically it's possible to connect BO to several BW sources), however I would like a best practice approach regarding the effort involved since I've never been in a BO project like this.
The Prod will be isolated for sure and QAS probably too. No need to worry about the full landscape.
My main doubt is the effort required to connect the same BO to 2 BW backends (dev and sandbox) versus the effort to create a sandbox BO and connect it to the BW sandbox. The effort I'm measuring only technical (installation and connections) but other factors would also be in mind.
    Some details:
-Dev and sanbox BW already exist.
-Dev BO is almost completed (installation, not the connection)
On one hand, for a new BO sandbox we will require additional hardware and several technical man days (not much but takes time to provision it). Using the same BO we have a lower number of technical mandays and no need for additional hardware.
For this argument I think using the same BO is the best approach.
On the other hand In the future the sandbox BO and sandbox BW (used for prototype) will disapear, so,  if we have only 1 BO instance the effort to delete the prototype environment is also determinant because of the risk of leaving garbage information on the dev system. Deleting this environment has also the cost in mandays.
For this argument I think using separate BO is the best approach. Is it a clean process to delete the protorype environment from a mixed BO instance?
    Thanks for your help,

  • About opening multiple files at once (in one program instance)

While developing an Image Viewer application i realized i had to give it some functionality for when a user selects multiple images in a directory and presses enter to open them with my app.
Everything is going well except for one tiny detail:
The Windows OS believes i am trying to open several instances of my Image Viewer, it even alerts me that "Choosing to 'Open' 26 items at once may take a long time and cause your computer to respond slowly."
It then hangs for a few seconds before opening my app. And i am talking about only 26 items. If i were to open more, the time it hangs is proportional and for that time the cpu usage is as its maximum (in this case a quad core).
So, do you know about a solution to this? Or at least a workaround?
Ideally, Windows would end up knowing i'm trying to open several files in only one program instance.
ps: i already tried deactivating the code that loads the Images, even with the InvokeEvent Listener doing nothing, Windows takes a lot of time trying to open 26 program instances.

it should work the way she's doing it, unless something is broken in CC
    try these other two options
    1. select all files and press "Enter", they should all open
    2. select all files and press the button "Open" in explorer Toolbar

  • Can multiple instance be in one physical professor?

Can multiple instance be in one physical professor? If it can,how can I run multiple queries in this multiple instance?
Any help would be very appreciated.
    Regards

Let me see if I understood your requirement, you want to have several Oracle Instances on the same machine (processor) don't you. And you want to run a single query against this, it could be interpreted in a couple of ways, you may want to set up a RAC environment, and let oracle decide where it is going to run the query, or you could be talking about a distributied query, peforming a join against different tables located on different instances.
Further clarification is required from your side.

  • Multiple listen ports for one weblogic instance

Can anybody confirm that you can have only one listen port defined for a single
weblogic instance (i.e. one instance cannot be listening to multiple ports at
    the same time)?
    Thanks

you can have multiple ip's assigned to the same box
and bind each WLS instance to a unique which will listen
    on the same port.

  • Mac Pro with 6 displays open 6 instance of keynote one on each screen

I am looking to purchase a Mac Pro with 6 Thunderbolt out to drive 6 displays. My question is this..
Can I use a a command like the following to open a 6 different keynote presentations and place each on a different screen.
n=6 ; for (( p=1; p<n; p++)) ; do open -n /Users/username/Desktop/Presentationname.key then some argument to dictate which display the file opens on.
    Thanks
    James Denney

Mavericks brings in a new way of working with displays.
    Multiple Displays
Desktop with menu bar and Dock
Each display connected to your Mac has [can have] a desktop with its own menu bar, so there’s nothing to configure. The Dock is available when you move your cursor to the bottom of the screen, letting you easily access menus and apps from anywhere.
    Full-screen apps on each display
You can use full-screen apps on each display connected to your Mac. Swipe on the trackpad or mouse to switch between full-screen apps.
    Multidisplay Mission Control
OS X Mavericks makes it easy to manage the apps running on each display. Mission Control shows you everything that’s on each display, including windows on the desktop and full-screen apps. If you want to move an app from one display to another, simply drag its thumbnail to the desired display.
It is not clear whether this gives complete ability to launch multiple instances of Keynote, one in each of several displays -- my expectation is that it does NOT. I think you will have to experiment a bit to find the true capabilities.

What can I do? Help please.

There should be a Library button on the top left. If not ap the middle of the screen to get it to appear.

We are talking about the Mail app, right? In the Mail menubar, click on Window and then Previous Recipients:
That eliminates the previous recipients. If you are talking about the suggestions because there are 10 people with the name 'Steve' in your Contacts, then I do not know how to eliminate those unless you change the name slightly or wait until you type the last name or some other differentiator.

  • How to associate multiple sites on one standard instance?

I have multiple websites that I want to put on one Standard instance. When I click on the scale link for a given website - it doesn't give me the option to add other websites to the standard instance. It creates a new instance for each website which really
racks up the billing charges. How do you put multiple websites on one standard instance?

The sites were already created and were under the standard instance. I thought it was just running one instance until I saw the credit balance going down quick. When I checked the websites using the new portal - they are actually under 4 web hosting plans.
I changed them back to the free one. Now when I try to change the plan to standard for a website - only that website's plan is changed. The other do not. There is no option for me to put the others in the same instance.

  • JMS Queue working with only one AIA instance.

    Hi,
We are having a Web-Logic JMS Queue configured for an instance. I have developed a consumer in AIA instance to pull the messages from the Queue.
    And this works fine.
Now I have an another instance consumer which is pointing to the same Queue, but it fails to get the messages from it.
I have switched off the consumer in the FIRST instance, but even then consumer from the SECOND instance was not able to pull the messages.
Later, I tried switching on the consumer of the FIRST instance, and all the messages were pulled in this instance.
So how can I make it work with two AIA instances and one JMS Queue, provided only one AIA instance consumer is active at a time.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards!

    * Likely your best bet is to check your server logs for "Error" and "Warning" messages, and/or, since these questions are specific to AIA's usage of JMS, post your questions to the AIA newsgroup.
    * WL JMS does not impose a limit on the number of consumers on a queue, but it does only allow one named connection with the same "client id" to connect at a time. Its unusual to name connections in queueing applications, but possible - and AIA may be doing this. (If this is the problem there should be "client id in use" style log messages or exceptions.)
    * Another possibility is a misconfiguration of your remote consumer. Make sure the URL is correct, and remember, if an application is running in the same cluster as the remote destination, don't specify a URL.
    * Also, if the remote consumer is running in a different domain, make sure the domains are named differently, and that no two JMS servers in the two domains have the same name (as per the unique naming restrictions documented in the Best Practices section of the JMS configuration guide -- http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/web.1111/e13738/best_practice.htm#CACJCGHG ).
