Severe sound crackling noise with SB X-Fi ExtremGamer and 680i m

My computer suddenly (~3 weeks+ after my new build) started making extremely loud crackling noises anytime I have sound on. I remember hearing some crackling noise before on one occasion, but not nearly at this level and it seemed to "magically" disappeared so I forgot about it.
I swapped the speakers to another computer and verified that they are not the source. Unfortunately, I do not have another sound card to swap and check. I updated all of my mobo and sound card drivers, and tried my sound card on both PCI slots on the 680i, all to no avail. EDIT:Happens even with no applications and speakers on, just having Windows running has a slight crackle.No overclocking on my system.
On-board sound is disabled on BIOS.
It still makes ths sound with speaker wires touching absolutely nothing (and also stretched out as to not be wound up).
No microphone on my system.
() Is anyone aware of any issues similar to this?
(2) Should I just RMA my sound card?

Hello cor-el, thanks for your reply. I changed my settings for downloads to desktop and it has appeared on there. When I double click I am asked which program I want to open file. I click firefox and another box "opening install" says I have chosen to open the file which is an application and do I want to save it. This is the only real option so I press save file. I get a box saying this is an executable file which may contain viruses - do you want to run. I press ok and the final box showing C drive file name and desktop appears stating application not found.
This happens the same whenever I try to install.
To my untrained eye the application is not being recognised as an application and I cannot work out how to get it to do that.
My plugin is still showing as out of date.
Is there anything you could suggest. Thanks for your time.

you still have the option (before your warranty expires) of purchasing an AppleCare Protection Plan, which will provide an additional two years of coverage. Once your warranty expires, you will no longer have the option of purchasing AppleCare.

Crackle noise with plug-ins at the beginning of a region

I've experienced problems with some TC plug-ins and logic. Mostly with the Brickwall Limiter and TC Helicon Voice Modeler.
When I insert one of those plug-ins in a track, the crackle noise occures when the SPL is almost before the start of the region. So, when this region starts at measure 5 I hear this crackle noise somewhere in measure 4 (also in the bounce). And here is the most stupid workaround!! I have to place a dummy region before measure one of the song. Now, I can bounce the song (from measure -1). I still have this crackle at the beginning of my bounce (before the music starts) but now I can cut it because its at the beginning of the song. The crackle doesn't occure a second time, only when the first region on this track is passed.
I had some consultation with TC and they asked me to send them a file although they didn't know about this phenomenon.
They also recommended to experiment with "automatic delay compensation" and buffer size but it didn't help. Any ideas??

This has been the workaround for quite some time.
Someone else on this list had some luck with changing
Logic's process buffer and/or disk buffer size.

The speaker on my new ipad mini keeps making a crackling noise when playing music or games and even just typing

Has anyone else had this problem? It goes away for a while but when randomly starts happening again. Is this a common fault with the ipad mini or do I just have a faulty ipad? It is only 2-3 weeks old and never been dropped.

Sounds like there may be an issue with the speaker, contact apple and see if they can help you out.

Satellite A20-S103 - crackling noise with new HDD

I upgraded my A20-S103 laptop with a Western Digital WD2500BEVE 250 GB hard drive running under Windows XP Pro.
Since then I have problems with the sound and the mouse movement when the CPU usage is high.
Lets say up to 50 % usage everything works fine but above I have cracking noise and the mouse sticks and makes jumping movements.
The drivers and the BIOS are updated to the latest Toshiba versions online.
After some time and alot of search I got also the hard drive running in DMA mode with the ALI IDE4008.exe tool so it is not that the hard drive is running in PIO mode.
Further I think that the hard drive speed is low when the CPU usage is high.

Does anybody knows a solution?

I agree with Akuma. You should try to update the BIOS and the chipset drivers and see if it works or not.

Crackling Issues with AMD Cool'n'Quiet and Intel SpeedS

After enabling AMD Cool'n'Quiet on my Vista 64 computer ([url="http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=Vista&message.id=2093">see this thread[/url]), I noticed that I had crackling in my audio from my Creative X-Fi. I put my Minimum Processor State back to 00%, and the crackling is gone. With both Minimum and Maximum Processor State on 00%, I have no crackling issues. I am running MSI K8N Neo Platinum/SLI 64FX? with 4gbram?I have never really used the cool n quiet utility becasue it always seemed to make the motherboard fans whine somewhat, for this purpose I enabled and disabled cool n quiet several times, and I honestly didnt hear any difference in sound, albeit the fan whinning was there. I dont know if this is conected or not, its possible cool N quiet creates other noise as well. I never did like the util. But, it might stand to reason that if the utility was creating voltage or signal variations it could cause the rice krispies syndrome so many people have been talking about. Have to get some more feedback on this issue.

Crackle issus with X-Fi/BF2/skype and Asus A8R32 deluxe

i have a big problem with my X-Fi.
when i played solo battlefield 2, the card works great without any crackle issus. but if i connect to a friend with skype , i have big crackle when if the game load a map. its very terrible. i have record with a extern player. please hear it. sometime the sound brokes completly in battlefield. if the map loaded and i start the game , it takes a few minutes else the sound a normal. in this time i can not hear anyone with skype. whats wrong? i tried many things, new windows install, new driver, new bios, but nothing work. can everybody help me?

ALSA USB Headset Crackling Noise

Hi, I'm having some problems with my USB Headset that I'm using for my sounds, which when I play anything with sounds in it, it gives me crackling noises. I'm using ALSA and my headset is the Razer Megalodon, however, the headset works perfectly fine on Windows, just not on linux. I tried all of the usb ports on my computer and all of the solutions in the wiki for ALSA, such as using and installing asoundconf from AUR and adding "options snd-usb-audio nrpacks=1" to my /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf with no luck.
I even tried using PulseAudio, hoping that I'd get some better results, but sadly, I still get crackling noises. I even tried adding "tsched=0" in my /etc/pulse/default.pa with no luck.

Doesn't help me either, I tried adding that to /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf and still doesn't work. I tried changing from snd-hda-intel to snd-usb-audio and that doesn't work either. EDIT: I didn't fix the problem, but what I did was remove ~/.asoundrc and ~/.asoundrc.asoundconf. I edited /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf and removed everything and added "blacklist snd_hda_intel" so I didn't have to deal with any onboard soundcards. I removed asoundconf from my computer and removed pulseaudio (just in case). All I have installed that's related to sound is: alsa-lib, alsa-plugins, alsa-utils, and lib32-alsa-lib. I'm going to be working with a completely clean configuration of ALSA, so if anyone has any suggestions please go ahead and let me test it out. Obviously if anything relates to snd-hda-intel, it won't work on mine because I blacklisted it, thanks. Also, what was funny enough was that when I completely uninstalled everything and had a clean configuration, my sound was working completely fine with no crackles for the first time! But when I restarted my computer, it went back to crackling for some reason.

A little tip, with the X-Fi's and new mobo

I've asked around and tested some. And it seems like if the mainboard have PCI-Ex6 and 2PCI's or less, the sound got a tendence to crackle and so on. I've suspected this, as i've used my Creative X-Fi with some mobo's.
(I don't know if this is the problem, but it might me a good thing for you people, who are planning to buy a new mobo.)?System Was an AMD which had an EpoX 8NPA-SLi. I Installed the Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 mainboard today. (Very tricky to install, especially if you get mad at the installation of cables etc.)?Anyways. I've tested the mainboard in one of the games i had terrible "crackling" in, with the Asus mainboard. And after 20minutes i've concluded that this one seems "crackle" free too. I don't know, but it seems like all mainboards i've had with many PCi slots (of all types, PCi-Ex6, PCi-Ex4, PCi-Ex and PCi.) doesn't have this crackling problem. Conclusion: Most of the mainboards, which was crackle free, had 3PCi's (Usual ones.)?Hope this will help some of you people. (The Gigabyte mainboard was tested under Windows Vista Buisness, without crackle, but with not so good working drivers, so quality of the sound is still not too good.)

ders a few reasons y that may occur, there could be something wrong with the 3.5mm av in port, it could be dirty or damaged, or it could be a software thing where the music isn't being sent through as complete data through the connection. der r other reasons, either way, i would advise you to see a nokia care centre, especially if your warranty hasn't yet reached its void.

Soundcard broken? noise/distorted sound in headphonejack with no relation to played audio

Sitting on a HP 625, a month ago or so I started experiencing this weird noise when the headphonejack is used, no matter what is connected (soundsystem, headphones etc). The sound starts off like a low hz distortion and gains to a very high pitched, cutting, unpleasant sound. This takes app 2-5 seconds and then totally disappears for a while until it comes again. It doesnt really matter if im playing something, the sound comes on at all times.
Would be amazingly thankful if anyone with knowledge of this problem and its solution would help.

This isn't a known issue with the device so I am surprised that you are having these issues. When you first noticed the issue, was anything else done on the device at that time? Any new apps added, etc? Let's try to put the phone into Safe Mode and test. If it works while in Safe Mode, we will know it could be a 3rd party app causing the static. Dv6853cl Crackling sound playing mutimedia with speakers or headphones

I have a dv6853cl and have a sound crackling problem. The only time it didn't crackle was when I was running Linux Mint (dual). I now have a clean install of windows 7 ultimate and the laptop speakers and headphones crackle. Turning off the wireless card or disabling through device manager made no difference.
At very low volume it doesn't crackle or i just don't notice it.

I think I found the cause and solution. I was/am also having a problem with applications often "not responding". When I applied the solution below from this thread: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7performance/thread/ae9468d9-168e-44ef-a54b-b4812f... - the sound issue went away. Unfortunately the static issue returns the next day or so....
1.    Turn Off the Laptop.
2.    Disconnect all the external devices and AC power adaptor.
3.    Turn the laptop upside down.
4.    You will find a long compartment in the upper side of the laptop.
5.    Slide the latches beside the battery compartment. This would open the battery compartment door and battery would pop up.
6.   Remove the battery from the battery compartment.
7.   Press and hold the Turn ON button for 60Seconds (to remove static electricity).
8.   Place the battery back in to the battery compartment and close the compartment door.
9.   Please connect the Ac adaptor.

Fatal Crackling Noises in Sound Blaster Live!24-

I have a eMachines T400, on which I installed a Sound Blaster Li've! 24-bit, and it was working fine, until today, the card started to make this fatal crackling noises, is like I CAN ACTUALLY HEAR THE HARD DRIVE SPINNING, and WHEN YOU MOVE THE MOUSE, THE CARD ZAPS LIKE CRAZY. Any help? I have updated my drivers, and I will do a system restore to see if the CRACKLING FATAL noise goes away. Please HELP this is the SECOND TIME the SOUND CARD does this type of PROBLEM. Also, I have disabled onboard Audio, and the onboard audio works fine. I have an Intel Extreme Graphics2 3D (and it sucks, and the IRQ is ten units away from the SB.)? PLEASE HELP!
