Severly Scratched screen on HD-LCD TV

I recently acquired a 2008-37AV500U HD-LCD TV with a severly scratched screen. Is there a plastic cover in front of the picture screen or is the outer layer actually the screen itself? And also is it economically feasible to replace this screen? I'm pretty familiar computers and other electronic devices so i'll be doing the work myself. And lastly would anyone have a ballpark figure on cost of said screen. I'd be grateful for any and all replies, thank-you

All you are displaying on your little HD tv is the same image as the Canvas.
If you want to really monitor HD/HDV you need something like the MXO, Kona LH or an Intensity card to convert the material to display on the TV.

Dead-pixel or scratched screen?

I just got my new MBP 13" 2012 and this is what I see right in the middle of the LCD. It has a rainbow color effect when viewing at different angles on a white background. It does not show on a black background giving reason that it might not be a dead-pixel (off state) after all. Is this then a scratch/crack on the LCD screen?

Video Ipod Scratched Screen Refab?

My video Ipod, which is nearly 2 years old now, has a badly scratched screen. I remember seeing an infomercial years ago where this solution was put on eye glasses and it took care of the surface scratches. I don't know if it actually worked but I wonder if there is something like that for the Ipod? I know I heard other people mention the screen scratched easily when they first came out but I don't know if the issue was ever addressed by Apple or a 3rd party.
I love my Ipod but watching clear video through scratches is annoying.

Keyboard scratches Screen and Reinstall OSX takes 8 hours

Only 2 months ago I bought a macbookpro. I was all excited, my first mac.
2 months later...
I had bought a case for it to protect it.
I carry it in my backpack in a separate sleeve designed to not allow pressure on the device when carried in the backpack.
The keyboard has completely scratched the screen...Thats PANTS!!!
Also I installed java update and it completely rendered the java unusable and thus had to reinstall the whole OS...I need java because I am in a java programing class.
To reinstall the OS it took over 8 hours..watching a little loader circle (throbber) go around and around over and over...I know this is not normal to take 8 hours to reinstall an OS...
I called apple support and they wont do anything...
Still no satisfaction and the thing runs slow as ****... Keep in mind that I am a computer technician of over 10 years... I have checked the system and cannot find any problems barring it being a hard drive issue which tests okay.
Any ideas...

So, does that mean that the scratched screen issue happened "all at once"? 2 months ago to 2 months later sounds like you are talking about "today" or thereabouts.

What does "it" refer to?
1) The MBP
2) The case that you purchased "2 months later"
3) The MBP in the case that you purchased "2 months later"

Ok, so live learn and perhaps next time read first read "Java Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for developers" (http://developer.apple.com/java/faq/#remove), where your issue is clearly explained and likely could have been avoided.

Anti glare/scratch screen protector Ipad Mini 2 - Not compromising clarity

I'm looking for an anti glare/anti-scratch screen protector for the ipad mini 2 retina. I know Zagg has an awesome one however the clarity is greatly compromised at only 86% clarity. Is there a screen protector that has great clarity along with anti scratch and anti glare, or at the very least minimized the glare from outside or inside lighting.

Hi. I'm in the market for one too. I've always used power support and they're very good albeit expensive at £30 a pop. I've looked at the Zagg but there have been some not so great reviews. So my advice is go power support, the HD anti glare one is very good but if you don't want to dull the display and it does make a difference then go for the crystal clear. Hope that helps

Z1 scratched screen ASF

Please tell me what do we have to do with the scratched screen?
Its been a year since I had a Xperia Z1. Great phone but...screen.

There are two huge scratches. It is a high-end phone and I think the ASF on the screen is not a good idea.
I read many topics about the ASF/scratched screens. Maybe there is ONE person in SonyMobile who would be so kind and tell us what do we have to do with some kind of scratches like on the photo in a high-end phone.
Also, a SonyMobile Specialist coudl answer all the questions we have, because we dont know if:
- ASF removal voids warranty?
- what do we have to do with the scratches ON the ASF instead of replacing it with the new-one digitizer?
- is it possible to polish the ASF? If yes, how?
- which of the other mega strong foils would you recommend instead of scratched ASF? Nillkin? Other company?
Those questions are important because many of us spent a lot of money a tear or more ago to have an extra high-end phone. And the complete digitizer with the ASF costs more than half of a phone now.
It would be very very kind if there was ONE question for all countries on the World.
Please let us know what to do with scratched screen on Z1.

My phones smashed, the screen and the LCD are both smashed, I don't want to claim on insurance because it would be around 100£ so what is the best way?

Google a third-party repair shop in your area to replace the screen. Should cost no more than US $50. I would never speed US $149 to do an out of warranty replacement on an iPhone 3G. You be better off purchasing a new/used iPhone 4 or 3GS before spending that kind of money on a 3G. If you can't get it fixed for US $50 or less, sell it for parts.

Screen display problems, LCD?

I bought an iPhone 5 six months ago from Roger's Wireless and I also paid for the application of a screen protector, for a long time both of these worked very well and I had no problems. The other day I put my iPhone into my locker at work and came back a few hours later to find that two spots had appeared on the display. One was near the top of the screen and it looked like a dis-colored splotch while the other one, that was near the bottom of the screen, looked like someone tried to scratch the screen with a dull object . When I turn off the display and examined the outside of the phone there is no scratches or any other physical damage to the phone, I think it may have something to do with the LCD screen. Also, my locker was locked so I know no one was fooling around with it although humidity or something could have played a factor but I'm not entirely sure. The spots are relatively small but pretty annoying, before this my iPhone was in perfect shape . I'm not sure if I am covered by the one year warranty because my phone may have water damage (although I am not sure). I remember a few months back dropping it into a deep pile of snow and when I took it out it was pretty wet, but still continuted to work perfectly find. Regardless, I'm pretty sure thats accident caused the water damage indicators in my phone to be set off . I looked all over the internet and there is different ways of taking off the actual LCD screen and replacing it yourself but I think I would much rather get this done by a professional. I have also heard that the spots may go away eventually. I am not sure if I am going to send my phone in right away but any help at all would be awesome. Thanks!

Do not attempt to work on your iPhone yourself, doing so will result in Apple refusing all further support for you. Take the iPhone to an Apple store genius bar or Authorized Service Provider for evaluation. Water damage will result in an out-of-warranty status...replacement will be $229 in the US for an iPhone 5.

I used to be able to mirror my Mac Book Pro screen to my LCD tv. It seems like when I updated to Lion it no longer works. Am I right, or Am I doing something wrong?

I used to be able to watch movies from my laptop on my LCD TV, and it seems to me that eversince I upgraded to the Lion operating system the mirroring does not work. I have researched previous questions and I have checked the FAQ section on the Apple website and I am told to click on the mirroring icon but the icon has dissapeared from my task bar. When I plug the adaptor from thunder to HDMI the laptop screen flickers, turns blue and then goes back to the desktop but nothing shows on the LCD. I have also tried with a Thunder to VGA adaptor and the same thing happens. Any clues?

Me again, sorry. Does anyone know what the story is if your freind's kid got a hold of your video iPod and did a number on the screen (i.e. scratched the **** out of it). Bummer, since it was <1wk old. I have the extended care plan. Do I have any recourse to resolve this issue bseides the undesirable option of springing for a new iPod? Hi TMS, I have read quite a few questions just like yours and many have recommended a product called Ice Cream. The first two links below are reviews of the product and the last is a link to the site to buy it.
I have not tried it myself, but you never know. It's worth trying before you spend more money on a new iPod.
I do agree with the other poster though, your friend owes you a new iPod if their kid ruined it. Just another reason to stay away from children

I don't belive your PC has a video out port. However, you could probably purchase a USB to DVI cable adapter and then connect them that way.

Correct, the AppleCare Protection Plan doesn't cover any sort of "wear and tear" or accidental damage. Apple won't attempt to fix the screen, they'll just replace the entire panel and it won't be cheap ($700+). There are 3rd parties that can do it for you, usually considerably cheaper, but you'll want to ensure they're an Apple Authorized Service Provider. Lastly, you could also perform the replacement yourself and that would be the cheapest option.
The thing you want to be mindful of is preserving your APP on the machine. If Apple does it, there's no problem. If an Apple Authorized Service Provider does it, same. But if some "computer shop" does it or you try to do it and problems arise you're not only financially invested but you run the risk of voiding the APP on the machine.

Screen badly cracked, LCD not working

I was at a hockey game with my brother and as we were walking back to our car, a drunkard who seemed lo look in a hurry bumped into me and know me into a fire hydrant. In horror, I heard a crack in my right pocket and to my dismay a HUGE crack was visible on my iPhone.
The top part seemed shattered and LCD would just show a white screen. Anyone know if Apple can replace or fix my phone? I bought it last year in March.

Black Screen Flashing Red LCD light

Is my blackberry dead? The screen is like the unit is off. Nothing shows up and the red LCD light keeps flashing. I've reset the unit and left the battery out all night. Is there any other way to reset the unit? Any insight would be helpful.
