SFC Reports Servicing Database Problems Still

Build 9860 reports servicing database corruption,
just like it's predecessor.  DISM won't fix them.
A friend of mine put it succinctly, saying:
"It's an inauspicious start for a company striving to raise confidence of users in continuous updates from the cloud..."

I assume that you have built your reports with the CR Designer 2008 V1. Try to open the affected report in the CR Designer and select Database->VErify database and save it back into the repository. Does it work?

    And DISM won't fix 'em.
Seems a bit messy to ship a preview with the promise of constant, almost streaming updates, then have questionable integrity.  Is it to be expected?
And yes, I've reported it through the Feedback app.

I would make sure you set all the Kernel parameters correctly in the install guide.
So ASM is already running and you are creating the DB or you are trying to create an ASM instance?
    Also found this on Metalink:
    Applies to:
Oracle Server - Enterprise Edition - Version: 9.2.0.4
    SUSE \ UnitedLinux x86-64
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Server x86-64 (AMD Opetron Architecture)
    Linux x86-64
    Symptoms
When trying to increase the SGA to approach half available RAM with an Oracle 64bit version on a Linux 64bit operating system, even though shmmax is set to match half the amount of RAM, you get the following error when trying to start the instance:
    SQL> startup nomount
    ORA-27102: out of memory
Linux-x86_64 Error: 28: No space left on device
    Changes
shmall is set to default at 2097152
    Cause
shmall is number of pages of shared memory to be made available system-wide.
    Solution
Set shmall equal to shmmax divided by the page size.
FYI: The page size can be seen using the following command:
    $ getconf PAGE_SIZE
    Errors
    ORA-27102 out of memory

  • Farm Recovery Planning: How to restore existing SharePoint Integrated Reporting Services Databases?

Sorry in advance for cross posting, but the Forum Admin for "SharePoint 2010 - Setup, Upgrade..." recommended I post this here as well.
Running "SharePoint 2010 SP1" and "SQL Server 2012" Integrated Reporting Services.
Assuming a total Farm failure requiring a new farm to be built, does anyone have any experience with restoring the 3 SharePoint Integrated SSRS databases to a the new farm from SQL Server level backups?  Assuming of course the SSRS encryption key had
been exported.  Many of the Service Applications can be provisioned with "pre-existing" restored service application databases (like the User Profile Service and Metadata Service databases).  Just wondering if this can also be done with
    the SharePoint Integrated SSRS databases.
The following Microsoft Document on setting up a SP DR site implies it's possible since the 3 databases are synced to a separate DR farm.
    https://view.officeapps.live.com/op/view.aspx?src=http%3A%2F%2Fdownload.microsoft.com%2Fdownload%2FD%2F2%2F0%2FD20E1C5F-72EA-4505-9F26-FEF9550EFD44%2FPlanning%2520Disaster%2520Recovery%2520for%2520Reporting%2520Services%2520in%2520SharePoint%2520mode%2520.docx
Is this possible?  Does any one have any actual experience with this, and what the steps would be?
    Thanks!

  • SQL SERVER 2000 - REPORTING SERVICES DATABASE ?

    Hi!
A very basic question, how to know where reporting services points to the database and server ?
    miga

For versions above than SQL 2000, you can refer to sql reporting services configuration tool.
For SQL server 2000, reporting services view the database deatils as mentioned in below thread
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/e4263367-600d-4bb1-94e7-6b66e5df295d/how-do-i-find-configuration-details-on-sql-server-2000-ssrs?forum=sqlreportingservices
To find the SQL Server name that host the report server database, please check the server name of the “ReportServerURL” in the RSWebApplication configuration file. The configuration file is located in the following folder:
    <drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Reporting Services\ReportManager
By default, the report server database name is ReportServerDB, and the report server temporary database name is ReportServerTempDB. To check the report server database name the SSRS 2000 uses currently, we can try to join a report server
instance to a Web farm by using different database. If the target database is not validated during the setup, it cannot be the report server database. Besides, we can also expand the tables of the databases; a report server database has different tables with
    common databases.

  • Reporting Services Indicators Problem Accessing Reportitems

Hi I have indicator arrows which work fine inside Visual Studio but when I deploy them and view them in a browser they always sit on "Yellow". The arrows use ReportItems!textbox...value as the value. I am using the textbox because I am calculating
the difference between months and storing this in a textbox. The data is from analysis services so alternative would be MDX to add a field to my dataset (my MDX is very limited).

    Hi darkdusky,
Based on my understanding, you use ReportItems in indicator value expression to design indicator arrows in BIDS. The indicator arrows work fine in BIDS, however, after you deploy the report to Report Manager, all indicator arrows show as “Yellow” indicator
    arrows.
In Reporting Service, ReportItems is supported to get values in indicator value expression. Generally, we suppose get same results both in BIDS and Report Manager environment. As we tested in our environment, we use ReportItems to create indicator arrows.
Both in BIDS and Report Manager environment, indicator arrows show the same results.  Please refer to screenshots below:
For yourself troubleshooting, you can create a new column next to the indicator column, fill in indicator value expression in this column. Then check if correct indicator arrows are displayed based on the output value of this column. Please also check if
the indicator expression and indicator states are correct in Indicator Properties. If possible, please provide some screenshots, such as report presenting results both in BIDS and Report Manager environment, indicator value expression and report design. It
may help us find out the root cause of your issue. Thank you.

  • Reporting Services URL Problem?

    Hi,
I have just installed SQL Server 2012 on my Windows 8 Pro OS. When I tried to browse to the Reporting Service URL it gave this error message :
User 'Abhi\Abhilash DK' does not have required permissions. Verify that sufficient permissions have been granted and Windows User Account Control (UAC) restrictions have been addressed.
Please can anybody help me solve this problem

After starting IE as admin and opening Report Manager, navigate to "Side settings" (on top right site), then to "Security" and add your account to "System Administrator" role. Afterwards you can open the URL also a normal user.

  • Printing directly to printer in Reporting Services 2008 problem

We have recently installed a new SQL 2008 server.  I have an application that prints an SSRS report (2005) directly to the printer.  If I change the reference to point to the new SQL 2008 server and run the application, the report is printed but the font size is huge and the report doesn't fit on the paper.  The only change I made in the code is the reference, that is it. Any ideas why this is happening?
    Thanks

I guess I wasn't clear with my current configuration.  I am using the SOAP interface to print the reports directly to the printer.  I have a web reference (ReportServer) pointing to the new server and here is the code I use to print the report:

  • Unable to create Database in Reporting Service Configuration

    Hi,
We have SQL Server 2012 in our environment. I want to enable monitor report in Lync 2013. i have separate Lync sql instance.
I am trying to configure new database in Reporting Service Configuration manager in report Server database Configuration wizard.
while testing connection getting below error.
could not connect to server:A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to
allow remote connections.(provider:Named Pipes provider,error:40-could not open a connection to SQL Server)
    kindly help to resolve issue.

    Hi Rakesh,
Please check the below details information:
Check the ReportServer db is present in the Database engine.
Go and check the report server configurations (go here:Start -> All Programs -> Microsoft sql server 2012-> Configuration Tools -> Report Service Configuration Manager
check all the connections if still not working. then create a new reporting services Database. While creating it make sure you select native mode, if you want to create a share point services then select share point integration mode.
If the above didn't work, Please check which port is used for SQL Server database engine from SQL Server Configuration Manager.
If we are using dynamic port, please make sure:
SQL Server Browser service is running.
UDP 1434 port is enabled in the firewall.
If we are using static port, please make sure the port is enabled in the firewall.

  • Reporting Services 2012 in SharePoint 2010 - SQL database edition?

We currently have a SharePoint 2010 farm, running on a SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard database.  On one of the SharePoint 2010 servers, we have an instance of Reporting Services 2008 Enterprise running in SharePoint integrated mode.  (We require Enterprise
    for data-driven subscriptions)
We'd like to upgrade to Reporting Services 2012 for Data Alerts and a few other new features.  However, I noticed something on
this blog stating that the SharePoint 2010 database server edition needs to match the Reporting Services edition. My concern is that I've not seen any official mention of this in Microsoft's documentation, and would like to avoid upgrading to Enterprise
for the SharePoint 2010 database if I can avoid it.
So, what I'd like to run is:
    SharePoint 2010
SharePoint database: SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard
    Reporting Services 2012 Enterprise
Reporting Services database: same as SharePoint database, so SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard
Is this possible?  Or do I need to upgrade the SharePoint database to SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise?
Alternatively, could I install a separate database engine just for Reporting Services to host its databases (for example, SQL Server 2012 Enterprise), so I don't have to mess around with upgrading the SP database?

While you don't need to upgrade your SQL 2008 R2 to 2012, you will need to install an instance of SQL 2012 & SSRS 2012. They can be side-by-side and independent of each other. The following blog post provides steps to do so,

The above is repeated for all the standard reports you would expect to find..
The Primary site is windows 2008 R2(Fully Patched), SQL 2008 R2 Standard Sp1, with CU6 installed.
I’ve confirmed security accounts etc. I’ve also tried uninstalling/reinstalling SSRS and re-applying sP1 and CU6.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Pete

Hi, The thing is my domain account has local admin rights on the box and is set as a "Full Administrator" on all nodes in the console? Ive just tried right clicking on the console 'Run As Administrator', tried to install Reporting services but im still getting
    the same problem.
One thing I have noticed is that If i manually create the report directories it runs through ok and sets the permissions. However no reports are populated. I have alos tried manually importing one of the report.rdl files and this fails:
When it comes back with 'Failed to retrieve existing folder security for folder [Network Access Protection]' what actual folder security is it supposed to be checking? Is this in the actual DB?
    Thanks, Pete

  • SQL2008R2 RSClientPrint continual reinstall prompting...seprate instance of Reporting Services

I have this situation where users are continually prompted to reinstall the RSClientPrint for a SQL Server 2008R2 Reporting Services setup.  The reporting services databases are on a clustered install, and the reporting services themselves are on a
separate server.  I have found the following article that almost addresses this:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2295244
However, my question is does the involved cumulative update get installed on the box that contains the SSRS Installation, the box(es) that house the main SQL databases or both?
Also, it would be preferable to install ONLY the fix needed to address the actual issue if possible.  When I peruse the cumulative update, I don't even see this issue mentioned in there and there are a whole lot of other fixes for problems we don't have
and this environment is very picky about what gets installed.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi SiberianKhatru59,
The KB article have pointed out that this issue occurs because Internet Explorer is requesting the current build RSClientPrint.cab file, and we should install CU2 for SQL Server 2008R2 on the Report Server to update RSClientPrint.cab file.
It's hard to say the effects for your environment after install CU for SQL Server 2008R2, we recommnd you test the SP/CU on test/dev environment and then implement to production environment. If you don't have the test/dev environment, I would suggest opening
a case with Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) (http://support.microsoft.com), and perform the action under Microsoft
    guidance.

  • SQL Reporting Services 2014, Enabling Kerberos causes report manager to be extremely slow

We are migrating our environment from SQL Reporting Services 2008 to 2014 on a new server. We are currently using kerberos on the 2008 instance, but when I enable kerberos on the 2014 Reporting Services instance the Report Manager becomes extremely slow.
Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas of what I can check to see what is causing this problem.

Just to clarify it is not slow when I run a report, it is slow in general. From first load to accessing a folder, settings, etc. This is all before even executing a report.
The error I see while using Wireshark is KRB Error: KRB5KDC_ERR_BADOPTION NT Status: STATUS_NO_MATCH. When I drill down the into the
error I can see the kerberos string is testprjmnmtreports14.company.com, which is the URL we are using to access the site. I made sure to add that name as an SPN for the service account that is running SQL Reporting Services, however I still receive the error.
Then I tried configuring the site to run without a hostheader, so I accessed the site with the server name ECTSTSQLRS5 and the site works perfectly fine, no errors are reported either. So it seems I have isolated the issue down to Kerberos but I am not sure
how to resolve it. Here is some more information about my environment:
    DNS/URL used: testprjmnmtreports14.company.com
    Server Name (FQDN): ECTSTSQLRS5.company.int
    AD Domain Name: company.int
Server Version: Windows Server 2012 R2
    AD Functional Level: 2008 R2
I also have the following SPNs set for my SQL service account:
    http/testprjmngmtreports14.company.com
    http/testprjmngmtreports14
    http/ECTSTSQLRS5.COMPANY.INT
    http/ECTSTSQLRS5
As you can see I am trying to use a .com address but my AD domain is .int which I think is the issue, but I do not have the same problem on my other server that is running Windows Server 2008 R2.

  • Reporting Services Failover

I have few questions about Reporting Services:
    1. can reporting server DB put on a cluster? if so is there a reference article which shows how you can target a specific location for Reporting DB and Reporting TempDB
    2. for reporting server DR, should we install two servers with SSRS one at primary site and the other at DR Site pointing to local instances of the clustered DB (DW and Reporting DB are clsutered and mirrored between peimary and DR site)

I have had it confirmed by the Microsoft product team that the link provided by Venkat (which I have reposted below) still applies to SCOM 2007 R2 and SCOM 2012 so the official answer is no, it is not supported from a SCOM perspective to have the SQL
Reporting Services databases as part of a cluster.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/momteam/archive/2008/03/28/operations-manager-reporting-supported-ssrs-configurations.aspx
Like Pavel, I have deployed option 4 and know it works but just be aware that is not supported (for SCOM) to have the SQL Reporting Services databases deployed on a clustered SQL Server.
    Cheers

Is this still the case for SCOM 2012 R2?
