SFP GLC-FE-100BX-D

Simple question: Is this GLC-FE-100BX-D= 100BASE-BX10-D SFP module for 100-MB ports, 1550 nm TX3/1310 nm RX4 wavelength, 10 km over single-strand SMF  compatible with multimode fiber?
Thanks,

just if the SFP will work on singlemode and multimode fibers
If you have multi-mode (MM) fibre link then you need to use MM SFP.
If you have single-mode (SM) fibre link then you need to use SM SFP.
You can't use MM SFP on a SM fibre link.

    hi
when i try to connect (glc-fe-100bx-d) sfp with my cisco switch ME3400 (ME-3400-24FS-A),
    i got this error (
GBIC_SECURITY_CRYPT-4-VN_DATA_CRC_ERROR: GBIC in port Fa0/15 has bad crc)
So I try to change the software release   from (Cisco IOS Release 12.2(55)SE) , to (Cisco IOS Release 12.2(40)SE) and (Cisco IOS Release 12.2(58)SE2) ,
but It give’s same error message .
    Thank You

This error is due to an unsupported GBIC in the switch, there are a couple of undocumented commands that may work on some switches to allow the GBICs to work, try these commands:
    service unsupported-transceiver
    no errdisable detect cause gbic-invalid
Failing that you may have to try and find another GBIC that is supported.
If the Catalyst switch is running IOS 12.2(25)SE and above, the commands are available with the ? before that they are hidden so you won't see them, just enter them and they should be accepted.
Also bear in mind that they are unsupported for a reason and it probably isn't a good idea to use them in a production network.
Cisco TAC won't help with any fault finding until they are replaced either.

  • SFP GLC-EX-SMD dont work in C3KX-NM-1G Module on switch WS-3560X-48T

    Hi
We insert a SFP GLC-EX-SMD in a Module C3KX-NM-1G, in switch ws-3560X-48T, but appear a message " dont supported" and the port remains in error-disable. we probe in the four port of module C3KX-NM-1G.
In paper from webpage of Cisco, say that is supported this sfp GLC-EX-SMD, but we have to use other IOS 12.2.58.SE, but this ios not exist for these switch.
The switch have ios 12.2.55.SE5. we need this SFP for a distance over ten kilometer.
Link when appear data from switch 3560X, sfp and nm.

My question is. is supported or need extra configuration for that SFP GLC-EX-SMD work in a Module C3KX-NM-1G, in switch ws-3560X-48T?
    Regards

Same thing. Upgrade the switch to 15.0(2)SE4.
According to the Release Notes, this SFP is supported on 12.2(58)SE2 but I am no idi0t and I won't recommend anyone using the entire 12.2(58)SE because there are more bugs in this train than the Amazon.

  • Issue with 3560g sfp GLC-SX-MM connect to 2924C

I have a 3560g switch. Have gig sfp interface [GLC-SX-MM=] and want to connect to to WS-2924C-XL f0/24 fasteth fiber port.
I have a patch panel in the middle.
3560g sfp interface [GLC-SX-MM=]   SC   ---------- ST PP  ST   -------------------------   SC  2924C-XL f0/24 fasteth fiber port
can I make this work? The lights do not come up. The port are configured correctly. I can not hard code the speed on the 3560 int sfp.

Unfortunately, you can't directly connect a 1GE GLC-SX-MM SFP interface to a 100Base-FX interface.  You will need to swap the SFP on the 3560G with a 100Base-FX SFP (GLC-FE-100FX).

  • 100 Mbps support on SFP GLC-T

Does the GLC-T SFP installed on Cat-6500 WS-X6724-SFP module support 100 Mbps speed ?

It depends on the hardware the SFP is installed in. Ss you have already discovered in a 3560 (or 3750) the GLC-T SFP can operate at 10, 100 or 1000Mbps. If the GLC-T was installed in a Catalyst 6500 6748-SFP or a 6724-SFP module it will only operate at 1000Mbps.
I haven't seen a specific list showing the operating speeds of the GLC-T in different platforms. If you look at the documentation for the specific hardware you have you should see whether it supports 10/100/1000 or just 1000BaseT
    3750 details:

  • Cisco SFP GLC-LH-SM unknown in show interface status

    Hi all,
Client installed a single mode fibre run from Distribution Switch to Access switch. The distance is not even greater than 100 Metres but the client insisted since the fibre is free.
On the Cisco Catalyst 2960X-24TS-L (Access layer not stacked) the SFP is identified, but on the Cisco Catalyst 2960X-24TS-L (Distribution switch stacked) the SFP module is "unknown".

Gi1/0/49 dist_sw po notconnect 1 auto auto unknown
    Distribution switch is running 150-2.EX4
    Access switch is running 150-2.EX5
I have configured on both sides speed nonegotiate, above output is showing that the 2 are not even talking to each other since their status is still auto auto...
Any ideas is gladly appreciated in terms of what show commands or diagnostic tests I can do for the interface just to test it?
I have tried to test it but it is saying diagnostic monitoring is not running, how can I run that feature as well?  Is that network impacting if I did?
    Kind regards,

    Hi,
Is there a link light on either side of the connection?
Is the SFP on the distro switch also LX?
If there is no link light, try crossing the strands on one side of the connection and test again.

  • Interconnect two SG500's based on MGBBX1 or GLC-BX-D?

                       Hi,
I want to connect two SG500 switches on 150 meters distance. Do I realy need a MGBBX1 on one end and a GLC-BX-D on the other end?
Sounds wiered to me... Why is this?
    Regards,
    Klaas.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/interfaces_modules/csbna/mgb/quick_start/guide/Optical_Module_QSG_en-US.pdf

    Hi,
For the Cisco MGBBX1, use the Cisco GLC-BX-D as the
downstream SFP. For the Cisco MFEBX1, use the Cisco GLC-FE-
100BX-D as the downstream SFP. The Cisco MGBBX1 and the
    Cisco MFEBBX1 support upstream only
Since you use only one strand of fiber you have a different wavelength for sending in each direction.
One side is transmitting using the 1490 nm wavelength, and the other side is transmitting on  1310 nm wavelength (and receiving on the 1490nm).
The MGBBX1 only supports the -U upstream version afaik. From the acccess side to the core side of the network.
So in the core you need the other version, and there is no MGBBX1 SKU for this version.
if at all possible for 150m you should consider Multimode with 2 threads and MGBSX1 as
1000BASE-BX10 is capable of up to 10 km over a single strand of fiber.
    hope that helps

  • 100BASE-BX10 SFP

    Hi All,
I have several Cisco 3560C setup at multiple stations. The Cisco 3560C are connected in a daisy chain between each other using 100BASE-BX10-D and 100BASE-BX10-U SFP. So, on the first Cisco 3560C (station 1), I have a U-type connecting to the second Cisco 3560C (station 2.). The second Cisco 3560C (station 2) will have a D-type and U-type SFP where the D-type connects to the previous station 1 on its U-type SFP. This setup repeats for station 3 onwards.
It seems that these connections between the stations, I noticed that the Cisco switch registers the link at 100Mb half-duplex and I see incrementing CRCs and collisions. I am not able to hard-code the interface to 100Mb FULL as it seems that the interface configuration does not give me the option to do a 'speed 100' or 'duplex full'.
Is this normal for these kinds of SFP?

Because of the CWDM going on, I'm not sure I'd trust the internal "show hard" or

Obviously this is something common/systemic since it happens betwen multiple locations.
Is the fiber the common denominator?

  • GLC-GE-100FX vs GLC-FE-100FX Which to Use?

What is the differance between the GLC-GE-100FX and GLC-FE-100FX modules. I thought all SFP ports on switches were Gigabit ports and thus the GE version would be needed for 100fx connectivity. Which switches would you use each SFP in? In particular I need to know which ones to use in a 2960-24PC-L switch and a 3560-8PC Switch.

If you look closer at that compatibility matrix that Paulo and I posted the other day the FE is for 100BASE-FX SFP module for 100-MB ports and the GE is for 100BASE-FX SFP module for Gigabit Ethernet ports. Not all SFP slots are Gig.
Here is the compatiblity matrix again.

    GLC-FE-100FX
    GLC-FE-100LX
    GLC-FE-100BX-D
    GLC-FE-100BX-U
And for the 2960, Paulo stated that all of the 100FX SFPs are compatible.
