Sftp crashes Lightroom 3.2rc

If I try to do a web gallery upload using sftp Lightroom crashes every time.  I'm running 3.2rc on Windows 7 x64 8gb ram, Core i5.

No, this one's extremely easy to reproduce:  Win 7 64-bit, sftp, crash!
I mean easy to reproduce for /others/, like perhaps a maintenance coder given the work of researching a bug report. If such a person cannot consistently reproduce the problem in an instrumented environment (and the crash is not obvious from code inspection, which can happen if you are lucky) then it is unlikely that the defect will be picked up for a release.
Clearly, only a small number of us are affected and thus, it's a very low priority.  C'est la vie.
If only a small number of people are affected, then a general problem will be harder to identify, and a general solution will be hard to ship. This is precisely what being able to reproduce a bug consistently means. Since changing code always introduces potential instability, it is quite common to pull a fix from a shipping release for a great number of reasons.  It does not mean it is low priority, necessarily, but that overall app stability is a much, much higher priority release over release than any defect that does not corrupt or lose data.
There are always more bugs than development man-hours, and feature work was continue as well.

  • Photoshop crashing, Lightroom not opening, help to fix please?

I paid for and downloaded Creative cloud last week, and have installed Photoshop, Lightroom and Bridge. When I went to use these programs I found that Bridge works, Lightroom won't even open, and Photoshop tends to crash after 3-5seconds upon opening. There is no crash report, or any other sort of explanation, and I tried logging off of creative cloud and back on again as the solution options say to do, however this hasn't had any affect on either Lightroom or Photoshop.
Oddly enough, the Camera Raw editor will work, but when I try to open the photo into photoshop, Photoshop again closes, this time asking if I want to save changes to my image. Selecting yes allows me to save the image and then closes, selecting no closes everything.
    It's very frustrating.

  • Automatically write changes to XMP crashes Lightroom!

Everytime I turn on the option "automatically write changes to XMP" my processor load rises to 100%. So far so understandable. LR is trying to update all of my 40000 images with xmp data. We've already discussed that there is no progress-bar indicating this and that this can be a real issue for people who don't know.
So I turn on the checkbox in the evening and let my pc write all xmps over night, but unfortunately every morning I look at it, lightroom has closed or crashed. It seems not to be possible to complete this task anyway.
Unfortunately writing to XMP seems to have another issue: LR does not notice, witch xmp have already been written, so it writes everything again and again, when I start it manually.
Could anyone of the LR-Team issue a statement and explain how this is meant to work and why LR constantly crashes on automatical export?
    Thank you in advance.

I feel that though LR is a very good product in many aspects, they have seriously failed in other aspects. I think what is mentioned here is one of the worse problems. How should we trust Adobe to take care of our image library when they behaves like this? They must surely know that their product will be used by proffesionals that have thousands if files in their library.
I think it is very arrogant of them to update all my photos with XMP-information even though I didn't ask for it. I check the "automatically write CHANGES to XMP", actually believing that this is what LR is going to do, but instead it updates all my photos with some useless information that are of course already in the files. This is NOT a good thing to do. I will not trust Adobe after this, because I have no way of knowing what they will do to my library.
So, now, after installing LR, my partial backup suddenly discovered 50GB of pictures that was modified and needed backup! F... them!

  • Trying to export crashes lightroom

Whenever I try to use the export dialog to export something, lightroom crashes as soon as i click the export button. i can use export as last or any of the presets fine. a workaround i have found is to disable my cd burner when trying to export, and that allows me to use the dialog fine, however that is quite annoying have to disable it then re-enable the drive. is there any other known fix for this?

I have had the same right from the start with the export button; it all works fine if I use Export with Preset. Very frustrating indeed and I would love to have a fix for this as well.

  • My computer crashed, Lightroom didn't close properly, but I can't reopen my catalog, help?

    , h

OK, that's better - but you should perhaps also be a little wary about posting all your personal information, including your mail address as username. Spambots and all that...
Anyway, the Lightroom catalog backups can come in handy before you know it, so don't delete those. But having them in the same place as your main catalog sort of defeats the whole purpose (e.g. hard drive crash). Do you have a different drive you can move them to? Or you could let them accumulate where they are and copy/move to an external drive regularly.
If you positively can't delete them, I don't know, maybe a permissions problem. I've always been admin of my machines and hardly know what a permission problem is, so someone else will have to step in there.
Again, don't delete the backups (except possibly the oldest).

  • Import dialog does not come up in Lightroom 5.2RC

I've used Lightroom 5.2 RC for a few weeks and successfully imported a few times. This morning, however, the dialog will not come up and the program hangs until I kill it in Task Manager. This is in Windows 8 64-bit.
I've tried removing the memory card, and all other USB-connected devices, but it still hangs. Is this a known problem? Are there any known workarounds?

  • Lightroom 5.2RC Screen Flicker in Library Grid Mode

    Hi,
Having a screen flicker problem since 5.cRC came out, but only in Library/Grid mode when scrolling or selecting from the grid. But only when there are more images than can fit on one page in the grid.
Seems to use an unusually low amount of memory with nothing else running on the system.
    PC/GPU details are:
    Lightroom version: 5.2 RC [915796]
Operating system: Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Version: 6.1 [7601]
Application architecture: x64 System architecture: x64

    Vendor: Nvidia
    VendorID: 4318
    Version: 10de:0df4:907e104d:00a1

I've been having the exact same problem with Lightroom 5.2.  I also have an Nvidia card, a GeForce GT 610, and driver version 327.23.  One additional part of the problem is that I can hear almost constant disk access when in grid view mode in the library module.  That seems to be related to Lightroom refreshing the display as I scroll down through the images.  On newly imported images, it takes about two seconds for each thumbnail to just display the keyword symbol in the lower right corner.  After the first time scrolling through all the images, it goes a bit faster.  Even then, CPU usage goes up to 80% just by selecting a new group of files.
It almost seems like something is making it take a long time to build each thumbnail and sync all the information that's associated with that thumbnail before it will let you do any other work with it.  I don't think it's really associated with the dislay driver.  I never had this problem with LR 4.4, it's just since I upgraded.  I also never had an ealier version of LR 5; I went right to 5.2 from 4.4.

  • Lighroom crashes (lightroom unexpectedly quit) Mac OSX

Anyone else had any problems running lightroom on a MAC? I have a pretty new MacBook and managed to run all the beta releases of Lightroom ok. Now for some reason it won't stay running for more than 30 seconds. I have read somewhere of issues using the WEB templates. I've tried the trouble shoots from the Adobe tech support, but nothing good short of re-installing Lightroom. How do I know this will fix the issue. If anyone out there has found similar problems and knows a solution, let me know. Its pretty frustrating to pay £140 or so for software that don't work.

Yes, you must be new to Macs! (not MAC).
    <br />
<br />Uninstalling and reinstalling is simple on a Mac, but seldom does anything useful. More important are the Prefs files, and in this case, any hangovers from the betas.
    <br />
<br />If you are just starting, I'd suggest a new library. Hold down the Option key on launch.

  • LightRoom 5.2RC

I have been using LR5.2RC for a few weeks now, and I love it. I understand that this will expire on 30 September 2013, and that I will need to buy a full licence.
Will LR5.2 be released before this date?
If not, will it be safe to install lR5 wiyhout risking losing my libraries and personal settings?
When LR5.2 is released will the upgrade from LR5 be free, or will I need to pay extra for it?
    Wonderful software!
    Graham

    Sorry,
    vijaykachru
    - I'm not a CS3 user, so I don't really know.
Having said that, I'd be surprised if you do. LR5 is a complementary piece of software, and as I understand it, works alongside other Adobe products, so it seems unlikely that you'd have to uninstall one to install the other.
    I hope that helps...

  • Lightroom 5.5 Crashing When I Reject Photos

I don't think this happened before V5.5, but in the Library or Develop module, if I click the X key repeatedly rejecting a series of photos, Lightroom will crash.  It comes up with "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 64-bit has stopped working, windows is checking for a solution to this problem".  Then it says, "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."  Then it only gives me the option closes out.  When I restart, "The catalog named... was left in an inconsistent state.  Lightroom must restore the catalog before proceeding" flashes briefly on the screen.
When it comes back up, some of the photos I marked as rejected have reverted to a non-rejected state, and then the program seems to work normally until...it crashes again.
Interesting, I tried rating photos by pressing the "1" key as fast as I could push it, and I could not crash it, so it seems related to the rejection process.
    I'm stuck, any ideas?

  • Lightroom crashes when using the Adjustment Brush

everytime i try to use the adjustment brush it crashes lightroom? help
Message title was edited by: Brett N

    Hey Brett,
Thank you for your quick respond
Well, there was a message after it crashed asking me if I want to report or send an email, which I did. Then it says that Adobe is an able to know the problem. Maybe this is the message you are talking about.
I have imported the same file from another source, and to a new catalog. same thing. In fact, I managed to apply both tools before it crashes, now every time I go to the same photo and just zoom in and out, it crashes.
I then uninstalled 4.3 and downgraded to 4.2. It works fine with this version (even the same old file that caused everything) it is just really slow version. 4.1 (straight from the CD) was REALLY fast and with no issues.. or maybe I didn't get to push it to its limits. 4.3 is slower but crashes. 4.2 is very slow but never crashes.
I'm saying that after uninstalling and reinstalling all these versions couple of times each.
I was considering upgrading my OS to 10.8.3 (even though I really don't want to) just to see if I can run 4.3 properly. But then I read that 4.3 is widely problematic and that is why 4.4 is coming out so soon.
What do you suggest? Should I stick with 4.2 for the time being? Just received a reply from another staff member saying that I should just wait for 4.4 Is there any time frame to the release?
Sorry for making it this long..
    Much obliged

  • Lightroom crashes on import with Samsung Android Phone plugged in USB

I went to import some photos taken on a Samsung Galaxy S3 phone into Lightroom 5.5 via USB.  Plugging in the phone with import selected or selecting import with the phone already plugged in crashes Lightroom, every time.  Now, I can copy the pictures to the computer and then presumably import them, but Lightroom shouldn't crash when a smartphone is plugged in...

Funny I should find this post on my first web search - I just updated from v5.4 to v5.5 only 10 minutes ago and *BLAMMO*  . . . Lightroom crashes as soon as I hit the Import button when my Samsung Galaxy S III is attached via USB.  This is on Windows 7 64-bit.
Lightroom v5.4 has been happily importing files from the same phone all along, so something has regressed in v5.5, it seems.  Importing from a USB storage device should be relatively straightforward.
EDIT: I uninstalled v5.5 and reinstalled v5.4 - it imports without problems using the same scenario that crashed v5.5 above.
Little help, Adobe?  Please?  I'm willing to send logs, test various scenarios, etc.

  • Lightroom slideshow crashes on iMac 5k

I have had the new iMac 5k for two weeks now, and experience a problem with the Slideshow module crashing consistently when playing horizontal images from Nikon D800E / D810.  Horizontal Olympus EM-1 images are fine.  Any vertical oriented images too.
On my older 2010 iMac 27 the Slideshow module play the same images without any problems.  I hoped the 5.7 upgrade would fix this, but it didn't.
    Anyone else experiencing the same?
    BR Vetle

I was chat with Adobe tech support for 1 hour 36 minutes complaining of the same issue,  slide show crashes Lightroom. I too am running on a new IMac Retna.  This sounded like the first time the tech rep heard of the problem.  He was going to talk to his supervisor and get back with me.  He saw the crash log and also saw the slide show crash LR.  He took control of my computer and ran the program.  So they hopefully are working on the issue.  I also have a Macbook pro and the same photos will run fine on it.  It is running LR version 5.2 camera raw 8.2.  The error report is many pages long.

  • Lightroom overly saturated oranges after PC crash

After a computer crash, Lightroom 3.6 is showing all my pictures, all cameras (7D, T1i, G12) with an oversaturated orange colours (to fix this I have to reduce red saturation by -15 and increase red hue by +68 ) . I do not see this in CS5 not in Canon's DPP.
I could create a new rpofile to revert this issue, however, I am afraid this will cause issues when I updgrade to newer versions.
What can I do to restore my old settings without messing my updates?
    What could have happened?
    Would reinstalling LR3.6 fix this?
    Thanks in advance.
    Carlos

Don't think so, I calibrated the moitor using Spyder express and furthermore this only happens in LR. No problems in  CS5 nor DPP.
Does LR use separate color profiles?
