SFTP support in Flash Builder?

Hi all,
I wanted to ask whether there is SFTP support somewhere in the Flash Builder / Flex Builder or whether I can somehow add this (plugin?). I searched the internet and I didn't come up with much about it. (I just downloaded and installed Flash Builder 4 Beta).
In my current workflow it is essential for me to be able to edit files directly on the server through SFTP. Having Flash builder to do one bit and Zend or whatever to do the backend stuff (not to mention any maintenance work) is a show-stopper. (no, configuring CVS is not our idea of fun )
Regarding Flash, I'm new to it. I'm quite experienced at creating rather complex data-centric apps using jQuery+PHP and I'm also an experienced (Certified) Java developer. I want to do the switch at some point to something more... proper (Flex+J2EE) and I'm currently looking to find out what the smoothest transition will be.
Thank you for your time,
Trian

  • AIR for Apple iOS Support in Flash Builder is not installed.

I've written an application in Flash Builder and I'm now attempting to get it running on an iPad.
I am running on a Mac (OSX 10.6.7)
I have FB 4.5 installed and downloaded the separate 4.5.1 update file successfully updated FB to 4.5.1.
I have downloaded and installed AIR 2.7.
I have downloaded and installed the AIR sdk.
I have an iOS developer account and have created my developer certificatn p12 file, created an Apple Id for my application and a provisioning profile.
I created a new "ActionScript Mobile Project" for my application and enabled the Apple iOS platform.
I have entered my certificate and provisioning information into FB.
I created a "Debug Configuration" for my project.
When I run my debug configuration, I am prompted for my Certificate Password (which I enter).
I then receive a pop-up message with the following error:
"AIR for Apple iOS Support in Flash Builder is not installed. To enable packaging support for Apple iOS follow these instructions."
The link for the instructions links to the following knowledge base article:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/899/cpsid_89938.html
I have Flash Builder as a part of the CS5.5 Web Premium (on DVD), which does not appear to have a "AIR for Apple iOS Support" option during the FB installation.
So I followed the manual installation steps provided (although copying the described folders to my sdks/4.5.1 folder (rather than the sdks/4.5 folder).
However, doing the above did not resolve the issue. I still get the same error message as before.
Has anyone else encountered this issue, or have any suggestions on how to resolve it?
    Thanks in advance.

In case anyone else runs into this issue:
This problem was solved in this other thread in the Adobe AIR Installation Issues forums:

  • Adobe Creative Suite Extension builder 2 not supported in Flash Builder 4.7 64 bit

Couldn't find anywhere to submit a bug report so hopefully this is a good place.
I was able to succesfully download and install the Adobe Creative Suite Extension builder 2 into Flash Builder 4.7 with not problems.
When I click File -> New -> Creative Suite Exention Project nothing happends. I recieve no error messages just the Project wizard panel that is expected to open doesn't open.
The extension works as expected when installed into the non-beta Flash Builder 4.6 32 bit verison.
I suspect there may be an incompatibility when switching to the 64 bit version of Flash Builder.

    Hi everyone,
The problem is that Flash Builder 4.7 is not compatible with Extension Builder 2. Therefore we have provided Flash Builder 4.6 available for download, see links below.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you run into further problems.

  • IOS support for Flash Builder 4.5.1

I am getting the following message when I try to export a releae build to iOS using Flash Builder 4.5.1:
This platform is not currently supported for Flex Mobile projects
I have tried running the update again and gives me the update was successful message, but I still don't have iOS support.
I did update using the Eclipse updater and was unable to open Flash Builder, but since resolved that issue. I wonder if I need to reinstall Flash Builder and reapply the update or if there is an easier fix.

I just created a project with Adobe Launchpad (http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/airlaunchpad/), and it looked like I setup all the options for iOS, but when I go to run configurations and try and deploy to an iOS device I'm getting the same problem: "This platform is not currently supported for Flex Mobile projects"
    Anyone know why?

  • Native Process Not Supported in Flash Builder 4.1

    Hi,
I am using Flash Builder 4.1 and I am trying with native processing with the example from http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/flex/quickstart/articles/interacting_with_native_process.h tml. When I tried to run the project in Flash Builder, it shows "NativeProcess not supported.". However, after I export release build, the application is working properly.
How can I have the native process to be able to run in Flash builder? So that it will be easier for me to test and troubleshoot the application. Thanks.

You need to add the following line in your  ***-app.xml file for debugging mode
    <supportedProfiles>extendedDesktop</supportedProfiles>
    and
    <supportedProfiles>extendedDesktop desktop</supportedProfiles>
    for release build

  • Flash Builder compiling

Will Flash Builder 4 also be able to publish AS3 based projects -> iPhone native apps as well or is this only going to be limited to Flash CS5.

Creating iPhone apps in ActionScript is on the Flex Builder roadmap, however it's not known at this point what version of Flash Builder will get that support.
However, as was shown in the MAX keynote and in other places e.g. Flash on the Beach, Flash Builder 4 and Flash Pro CS5 can be used together much more closely, editing in Flash Builder and having it publish/compile using Flash Pro, for example. So even if it's not directly supported in Flash Builder 4, you can use Flash Builder 4 as your editor and create an all-ActionScript project, and publish it using Flash Pro.

  • Where is Flash builder 4.6 for php ?

    Hello,
I found flash builder 4.5 for php and flash builder 4.6, where is flash builder 4.6 for php ?

Is it really that difficult to add Flash Builder 4.6 as a plugin to Zend Studio?  I did that for a long time prior to Flash Builder 4.5 for PHP, which is essentially the same thing.  It really doesn't take a rocket scientist.  =/
On that note, if you own Flash Builder 4.6 and don't feel like shelling out the extra money for Zend Studio or waiting for Flash Builder 4.6 for PHP, then it's really as simple as adding Flash Builder as a plugin to Ecliplse for PHP using PDT.  Also, doesn't take a rocket scientist.  Personally, I don't see the big deal myself.  I don't even bother with using Zend Studio anymore and prefer to use Komodo Edit since it's autocomplete features are awesome and it's very quick at auto complete by simply adding a folder for your favorite PHP apps from different frameworks to different content management systems.  Furthermore, there is still support in Flash Builder 4.6 to connect to a PHP data service if you really just want to create some automated code.  Ultimately though, I don't understand why anyone would use amf.ini or the default options in production.
Rather than pointing to the default endpoint, if you're using a framework in the first place, it makes a lot more sense to setup a service controller and have the endpoint point to that such as index.php/services/amf (or if you're like me and prefer cleaner url's modify .htaccess to remove index.php).  The bottom line is there really was nothing great about Flash Builder 4.5 for PHP.  Alot of things were broken for one and it was far easier to use the datawizard which still exists for testing purposes.
After that, you should be focusing on deploying the applicaiton for production, and adjusting the settings in the Zend Framework to create a new project the correct way, dumping your HTML file to a view along with the swf file, and it may be a good idea to point the HTML file to swfobject on the Google Ajax Libraries page.  Everything else is a cakewalk.
In other news, if you'd like a ligher footprint than using the entire Zend Framework, why not use something like CodeIgniter and create the necesssary hooks to use Zend AMF?

  • Flash Builder Mobile PHP Publishing

I have zend server community edition running on my Mac. I have created a Flex Mobile and PHP Project using localhost as the Root URL and htdocs as the Web Root. After that, I have connected to a couple of php dataservices to my SQL database in Zend and added my components to view and change the data.
When I test the app locally, everything runs perfectly, which is awesome. However, the time has come to publish to my mobile phone and I would like to connect the app to a mirrored database on my web server so that I may use it online rather than local and this is where I cannot get it to work. I assume I would have to change the php database connection properties, but no luck.
Does anyone know what settings/code I must adjust in order to get my app to talk to my sql database hosted online?

    Hello Skant,
I did get Flash Builder working using a remote database, but used a HTTPService request instead on cofiguring Zend. It looked like this:
    <s:HTTPService id="saveHole1Score" url="http://yourdomain.com/your.php" useProxy="false" method="POST">
                                  <s:request xmlns="">
                      <scorecard_id>{scorecard_id.text}</scorecard_id>
                      <hole1post>{hole1post.text}</hole1post>
                 </s:request>
    </s:HTTPService>
However, I eventually gave up on Flash Builder as a method to build my mobile app because the published version for iOS of my app was 29MB, which is too large to download over the cellular network. This was problematice for the type of app I was creating. Plus with the announcement of the lack of ongoing support for Flash Builder was the cherry on top. I have since switched to HTML5 and Phonegap to publish my apps. So far it has made a better product and significantly lighter.
    Good Luck with your app.

  • When Flash Builder 4.6 for PHP is released will it support AIR 3.2 ???

We've all been waiting a long time since last November's Private Beta of Flash Builder 4.6 which was released shortly thereafter, for the Flash Builder 4.6 for PHP version.
However, Flash Builder 4.6 for PHP (The one with Zend Studio included in it) is scheduled for 2012 - Q1 release, meaning?
I guess, at the latest March 31st.
This is significant, because AIR 3.2 is Great, but it will Live or Die based on what happens, I believe, in the next year, the new demo with the 2 geniuses at Adobe, Lee Brimelow and Thibault Imbert, which essentially ARE the driving intellectual force behind AIR, make me feel more comfortable than the management at Adobe,
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/adc-presents/hardware-accelerated-graphics-for-mobile-games-with -adobe-air-32/
So, when FB 4.6 for PHP is released, will it support AIR 3.2?
There's another thing, there are a ton of job offerings for iOS 5 or Android Java, but no AIR (very few and the damage control fromthe eff'ed up press release is still meandering).
Adobe needs to compliment its consumer base and developer base, with a Developer Network for Corporate integration so there are contracts out there for us who live between our dream ideas and meals, by doing contracting work, and it'd be nice to do it in Flash Builder 4.6 instead of taking on an iOS 5 or Android Java or PhoneGap project.  At least for Gamers.
REPORTS: Social Gaming will be a $5B industry by 2015. The total mobile market will be a $15B industry by 2015.
I'm shooting for the Social Gaming, and I like what I see in the above video.
But again, people have to pay bills, why doesn't Adobe reach our to Corporations for certified developers like Mickysoft and Apple?

I worked it out in the end - I had to uninstall FB4.5 and reboot. Why couldn't the installation say so instead of just crashing? I found this out, by the way, by trying to run the installer created under c:\program files(x86)\adobe\adobe flash builder 4.6. That one told me at least that I had to uninstall a previous version, though even then it was coy about which one

  • Flash Builder 4.6 Mac OS X Subclipse support

I'm having a tough time getting Subclipse 1.8.x installed on Flash Builder 4.6 on Mac OS X 10.7.2, and having a tough time finding straight answers. Can anyone verify that Subclipse 1.8.x does not install/work on this configuration? If Subclipse 1.8.x doesn't work, what versions of Subclipse do work?
The main stumbling block seems to be that SVNKit doesn't appear for installation on the Install New Software… option in Flash Builder. This is needed since JavaHL does not work for Subclipse on the Mac.
For the record, I'm roughly following the installation directions from here, but substituting http://subclipse.tigris.org/update_1.8.x for the server site:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/jasonsj/2010/03/installing_subclipse_in_flash_builder_4.html
According to this informal message, svnkit is not yet compatible with Subclipse 1.8:
    http://svn.haxx.se/subusers/archive-2011-10/0066.shtml
My goal is to get a built-in svn client that works with subversion 1.7.x. If there are alternatives, please let me know!

OK, the latest SVNKit only support Subversion 1.6.5 (http://svnkit.com/documentation.html), so Subclipse 1.6 is the latest version supported.
Rats. I'll have to use a separate svn client just to work with Subversion 1.7 repositories.

  • Support for Arabic in Flash Builder

I'm happy that Flash supports Arabic now. Previously there were problems with that. This is the reason why I didn't learn Flash. Now that it supports it I'm getting familiar with the technology related and I regard it as my first serious attempt to become a real developer. I have tried all the technologies available like PHP, ASP.NET, Java..etc. but I have found that only in Flex / ColdFusion all the three criteria that I was looking for where available: Both are easy to learn, powerful, and beautiful in things regarding UI and design.
Now in Flash Builder 4, although I can write Arabic and some RTL options availabe, I still have problems with the Flash components:
For example the arrow button of the DropDownList is on the right, but if I want to create an Arabic Flash application it should be on the left. The same for CheckBox, RadioButton, List, and other Components.
Is there a way how to fix that? Or do RTL developers have to wait for coming versions until this is available. I dislike Microsoft but they are strong in one thing: Language support. If Adobe becomes better in that, it would rule the developer world.

To my understanding (I'm just a dev myself) - yes, the flashplayer will continue to be backwards-compatible with content built for old players, regardless of the AS version.

  • Will Flash Builder 4.7 supports Flex 3.5 SDK

Does Flash Builder 4.7 Premium supports using Flex SDK 3.5 version. I have an existing application build on Flex SDK 3.5. Can I use FLash Builder 4.7 to make any enhancements on this existing application?

An AIR app is not just a SWF, but also its –app.xml file and then is usually packaged into a .AIR file.  Just launching the SWF won’t work as it usually launches FlashPlayer which does not have AIR APIs.

  • Only LiveCycle Data Services 2.6 or higher is supported in this version of Flash Builder.

    Hi guys!
I am using LiveCycle Data services 2.6 and Flash Builder 4.0..  and getting an error
Only LiveCycle Data Services 2.6 or higher is supported in this version of Flash Builder.
Any suggestion? why Flashbuilder is not detecting correct version?
    Thanks

    Hi Tom,
    Thank for reply.
In my application I was using Flex 3.0 and LCDS 2.6.  I need to  generat PDF
generate and save 100% at client side. so I used Flex Gumbo  to use
filestream.save since flex 3.0 doesn't support filestream. Using Gumbo let
me filestream but gave me an "direction" style declaration for charting
component .. mismatch with previous version. To overcome that I used Flex 4
flash builder. That gave got rid of direction but gave me LCDS 2.6 version
error. I have copied my older workspace  to another location and using this
workspace for Flex 4. I am using LCDS 2.6 though it give me same error. I
have almost given up, really dont know what needed to be done. Thanks for
    your help.

  • When will Adobe Flash Builder 4.6 support iOS 5.1 and the retina display?

I have installed Adobe Flash Builder 4.6 along with the Adobe AIR 3.3 SDK and am understanding that there isn't support for iOS 5.1 nor the Retina display devices, is this correct?  If so, when will this be available?  If not, what is a good workaround?
    Thanks,
    N.M.

note sure if I'm much help other than to CONFIRM it is working for me by using the sdk WITHOUT the compiler. Check out adobe's little note: "Note : Flex users will need to download the original AIR SDK without the new compiler."
I am using FB 4.7 with AIR 3.6 and seems to compile correctly for iOS.
    Maybe try reinstalling flash builder?
I honestly don't know if the JRE has anything to do with it... I'm using 1.7 ....to see what JRE you're using, open the Java Control Panel (I right click my java orange icon and hit properties), select the Java tab, then hit "View..."

  • Does Flash Builder 4.5 simulator support software keyboard?

    Hi,
I have a TextInput component in a mobile project and when simulating my application the software keyboard does not appear when I try to enter text.
Does anyone know if the simulator supports the display of a software keyboard or do I have to run my application on a real device emulator to see it?
    thanks
    -Malena

The Flash Builder simulator does not support the soft keyboard.  You will have to test functionality related to this on an actual device.
