SG 300-28: port mirroring: the destination host looses network connectivity

Hi,
we have two SG 300-28. On one of them i configured port mirroring because one host behaves strangely. When i create the mirror, the host connected to the destination port is not accesible any longer, e.g. he does not answer to a ping. The packets from the source port appears on the destination port, but no packet intended for the host itself. Is this behaviour right ? I accepted that the host on the destination port is still accessible as it would be without the mirror.
Bernd

He Bernd,
Yes. This behaviour is right. That's how Port Mirroring works. The host connected to the Destination port loses its connectivity and it can only act as a monitoring device using softwares like WireShark (and monitor packets coming to and from the Source port(s)). All configurations on the destination port are overridden.
Let me know if you need further help,
HTH,
Vijay

If you are trying to connect via wifi to our iPhone then the password should be displayed on your phone when you go into Personal Hotspot, by default it is a random password set by the phone but you can change it there.

  • ITunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. Network Connection was refuse

I'm getting this error which I'm sure that many people are familiar with. "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. Network Connection was refused" It was working perfectly fine on 9.1 even with my Norton security on. I upgraded to 9.2 and all of a sudden getting this message. I tried:
    - Completely removing and reinstalling iTunes.
    - Tried the Terminal solution
    - Removed Norton suite
    - Checked proxy settings
    - Added application to firewall settings to allow incoming connections.
    - Ran disk Utility to repair permissions
Still no luck. Any other suggestions that I could try to resolve this pain in a** issue?

Also tried connecting via Ethernet. Still no luck.

  • Sg 300-28 port mirroring

    Hello,
I have problem with device SG 300-28. When I try to set port mirroring I get following message: “Lock port Dynamic Enable prevents executing Copy Port Enable”. This message is displayed as in web-interface, as in lcli mode. This is output from the console:
    SW(config)#int gi16
    SW(config-if)#port monitor gi15
Port gi16: Lock port Dynamic Enable prevents executing Copy Port Enable
Both ports are in the same VLAN (if it matters). Which command prevents executing “port monitor” ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Gabriel,
You're getting this error because port security is enabled on the port you are trying to mirror. Once you unlock this port and make sure your destination port is vlan 1 then you shouldn't have any problems setting up mirroring.
    hope this helps,

  • Specify the port in the client in a TCP connection

    Hi,
I am programming an application using TCP sockets. I have programmed a server whith a SocketServer(port) and is waiting for client's requests (the server is a public host in the Internet). The client connect to the server by means of the method:
    Socket s = new Socket(host, port);
That works correctly, but now I want to specify the port in the client. The client's PC in a machine on the Internet and it has a public IP. I tried to use the method:
Socket(String host, int port, InetAddress localAddr, int localPort)
where localAddr is the local IP of the client' PC (because I cannot know the public IP).
However, it doesn't work this method and the client cannot connect to the server. The problem is that I want to specify the port in the client in the socket TCP connection when I try to connect to the host.
How can I resolve this problem?

  • I can send email but not receive on my iphone 3GS. Emails to my .me address are OK but not emails to the address hosted by Network Solutions. NS have checked my settings twice. I am using IMAP. Is this a problem with iCloud?

I use IMAP email hosted by Network Solutions for my main email address. I can send and receive this OK in my Mac Mail on my MAC book and also on webmail. However my iphone doesn't receive these emails but it can send. I have checked settings on my iphone twice with Network Solutions but no luck. Emails addressed to my .me address are received OK. I have a suspicion this problem started when I signed up to icloud.
    my ISP is BTconnect
    Any ideas?

Useful suggestions. In fact I had already deleted and re-entered the account details a few days ago without apparent success. The error message was along the lines of "cannot access the server".
Anyway about an hour after your message, my emails started coming through after a 6 month gap!  - makes me think someone at Network Solutions monitors these discussions.
    Many thanks

  • Can I use the Airport Express to connect to a Linksys Wireless Network and then use the Ethernet port on the Airport for a wired connection to a device for internet access?  Would I be able to then also use that Ethernet pt to a Ntwk Hub for more wired c

Thanks for the help.  Looked but not clear on what I am trying to do as being possible.  Can I use an Airport Express to connect wireless to a Linksys Wireless Router, such that I can then use the Ethernet ports on the Airport to either connected to a PC wired, or even use a hub off the Airport Express to allow multiple wired connections to it?
I am not looking to have the Airport Express extend my wireless network, just connect to it and provide me wired connections in a different location from where my Linksys Route is located.  Would prefer to replace Linksys with all Apple, but just not possible financially yet.  Thanks for the help.

If the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) is an 802.11n model, then yes, you can reconfigure it as a wireless Ethernet bridge. In this configuration, the AX would join the wireless network provided by the Linksys router and its Ethernet port would be enabled for either a single wired device or for an Ethernet hub or switch for multiple devices.

  • Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V Host Loses Network Connectivity

    Here's the scenario...
We have two 2012 R2 Hyper-V hosts (VM1 and VM2) in a cluster that have 8 virtual machines that live on them. The servers are each utilizing three network connections that are teamed (Switch Independent, Address Hash).  They all go to the same switch.
Three nights ago at approximately 11:30 PM VM2 lost network connectivity. The server was up it was just inaccessible from the network. I could not ping in or out from it, no internet connection, yet the network connection icon did not show that it was
    disconnected.
Two nights ago we had no issues.
Last night, same thing happened at 11:30 PM. VM2 loses it network connection.
The only thing that seems to fix the issue is a reboot. Once the server comes back up everything is back to normal.
Anyone have any idea what is happening here? I do not see anything that sticks out in the logs that could point me in the right direction....

    Hi Sir,
Based on my experience , first you may need to keep the physical NIC driver up-to-date .
Also please check if there is "VMQ"/"virtual machine queue" property in advanced properties of physical NICs:
If yes please disable it for each team member then check the result .

  • Hyper-V: If host no network connection, is it guest also will no network connection?

    Hi,
Currently my server running Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard. I want to set one Hyper-V Guest inside it running Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard. As far i know, guest network will share with host connection. Is it mean if host network no connection, guest
    network also got no connection?
    Thanks.

    Hi Thaqifmn,
    >>As far i know, guest network will share with host connection. Is it mean if host network no connection, guest network also got no connection?
I agree with the others .
In addition , I want to explain the "share" , I assume that  there is one NIC and  "Allow management operating system to share this network  adapter " was checked when you created external virtual switch and bound
to that NIC , in fact , that operation "share" created an virtual NIC (same name as Vswitch's name) for host and connected it to external virtual switch .
So , if you don't disable/cut off the connection of physical NIC then the VM won't lose connection even if you disable the Host's virtual NIC .

    Elton Ji

  • Hyper-V virtual network switch disconnects host machines network connection

When creating an external virtual switch for my Hyper-V machine, my hosts connection is lost immediately when applying the setting and is restored immediately after deleting the virtual switch.
Am I doing something wrong? It seemed pretty straightforward and I've followed steps that others have outlined to create the virtual switch.

When I checked, "Allow management operating systems to share this network adapter", and checked "Enable virtual LAN identification for management operating systems" another SNAFU happened. I found in network connections, Ethernet properties,
my "Internet protocol version 4 unchecked, and Hyper-V Extensible virtual switch checked, and I no longer had network access.  Again I had to remove my hyper-v external switch in hyper-v manager.  I guess I could try using my WIFI as the switch,
but getting hyper-v Windows Server 2012 R2 has been a real problem.
    I did the following steps:
To install and configure a virtual machine, complete the following steps:
    1. Start Hyper-V Manager by clicking Start, Administrative Tools, Hyper-V Manager.
    2. In Hyper-V Manager, right-click the server node in the left pane, point to New, and then select Virtual Machine. This starts the New Virtual Machine Wizard. Click Next.
    3. In the Name text box, enter a name for the virtual machine, such as AppServer02.
    4. By default, the virtual machine data is stored on the system disk. To select a different location, select the Store The Virtual Machine In A Different Location check box, click Browse,
and then use the Select Folder dialog box to select a save location. Click Next.
    5. On the Assign Memory page, specify the amount of memory to allocate to the virtual machine. In most cases, you should reserve at least the minimum amount of memory recommended for the
operating system you plan to install. Click Next. 6.
On the Configure Networking page, use the Connection list to select a network adapter to use. Each new virtual machine includes a network adapter, and you can configure the adapter to use an available virtual network for communicating with other
    computers. Click Next. 7.
On the Connect Virtual Hard Disk page, use the options provided to name and create a virtual hard disk for the virtual machine. Each virtual machine requires a virtual hard disk so that you can install an operating system and required applications.
Click Next. 8. On the Installation Options page, select Install An Operating System From A Boot CD/DVD-ROM. If you have physical distribution media, insert the distribution media, and then
specify the CD/DVD drive to use. If you want to install from an .iso image, select Image File, click Browse, and then use the Open dialog box to select the image file to use.
    9. Click Next, and then click Finish.
    10. In Hyper-V Manager, right-click the name of the virtual machine, and then click Connect.
    11. In the Virtual Machine Connection window, click Start. After the virtual machine is initialized, the operating system installation should start automatically. Continue with the operating
system installation as you normally would.
It installed and booted, came up to a blue screen asking me to hit Ctrl-Alt-Del to logon, and when I did, it gave the selection to switch user, task manager, ect...  didn't complete the install could not logon - did not have access to the internet to
    logon with my Microsoft Account.

  • Why does the iPhone lose home network connection?

My new iPhone 5 keeps losing my home network connection. Any advice? I've tried resetting network settings, turning the phone off and on again and turning the router off and on again. Thanks.

I'm looking into that possibility.......have a cordless phone in the office, a PC, cell phones, etc. Will clear them out and recheck. The maddening thing is that the iBook is totally bulletproof even in that environment. Why would the iMac be having these issues, but not the iBook? Is Airport Extreme more robust, or that much better than Airport?
Even now, the iMac shows no network - yet I'm writing this on the iBook right next to it, and it's had no network interruption whatsoever.
Do you have any knowledge of those "error" notations from the syslog? Could they be pointing to anything else?
    Thanks much.....

  • I am using Airport Extreme as my wireless router on a Windows 7 machine. I am trying to use an HP wireless printer without connecting to the USB port. The printer says it is connected to the network but I can't print. Any suggestions?

  • Network scans on ports 515, 81 at startup or network connection?

I've got a user with Network Magic installed on his home PC.  When he connects to work using Cisco/Altiga VPN, his system is scanning the network on ports 515 and 81.  If he exits and then restarts Network Magic, that also triggers a scan.  The PC is assigned an address in the 172.16.14.0/24 network, but the scans start out at 172.16.0 and go up in odd increments.  Traffic is one way and only SYN packets; no servers are responding.
Is this something known in Network Magic, and if so, how can I have the user configure their system to turn it off?

I had the same problem. I fixed it with the script below.
Copy the script to Script-Editor and save it as a program. Then go to user-settings and add the program as an start-object.
    on run
    delay 5
    tell application "Finder"
    activate
    try
-- networkdrive 1 connect to server
    mount volume "smb://user:password@MAXTOR-STORAGE/Music"
    on error
display dialog "Connection to MUSIC not possible" end try
    try
-- networkdrive 2 connect to server without password protection
    mount volume "smb://MAXTOR-STORAGE/PUBLIC"
    on error
display dialog "Connection to PUBLIC not possible"
    end try
    end tell
    end run

  • One solution to the iMessage / facetime login / network connection issue

I am one of many who posted, read, tried many of the solutions with an issue of iMessages telling me to check my server connection. Buried somewhere on this site, one person posted a solution, and it worked for me, along with the person who posted the problem. Maybe this will save someone else with a similar issue hours of frustration, reading links that tell me how to build a clock, when all I wanted was the time.
On Ipad, go to settings > general > date & time.
Slide the button to set automatically to "on"
Under the time zone, select a city in your zone.
At this point, my pad went into "think" mode, and stayed there.
It doesn't matter. (12 hours later, it still hasn't selected the time zone).
I then shutdown and restarted my pad, and iMessage, and Facetime worked just like it used to.
Hope this saves someone from the "link jungle" that I found myself in.

    Hi,
This may be due to a lack of a serial number showing in System Information > Hardware.
This is supposed to show the Serial Number which is stored on the main Logic Board.
If the machine has been Refurbed or Repaired and the board replaced then the Serial Number id "flashed" back to the new board.
Some people are discovering that this has not been done and FaceTime  and iMessages "registrations"  on the Mac  are not working as it uses this info somehow.

My example: I was using USB Dongle for WiFi. With Killer my Down speed was 4 Mb, up 0,5Mb. Without software.. Down 60, up 15Mb (both using speedtest.net).
