SG200-08 VLAN-trunk setting ignored after reboot

Hi all,
The ports on my SG200-08 are configured as follows:
Port 1; VLAN 1+4; trunk
Port 2; VLAN 4; access
Port3-8; VLAN 1; access
The config for Port 1 looks as follows: "switchport trunk allowed vlan add 1,4". The problem I want to point out here arises right after rebooting the switch; in the running config, the aforementioned line is now present as "switchport trunk allowed vlan add 4", i.e., VLAN 1 is missing in the trunk. The problem is reproducible every time I reboot the switch. At this moment, I assume it to be a bug in the firmware. This is a problem for me, since the switch's management VLAN is 1 and it gets its IP address (DHCP) over VLAN 1 as well.
I have attached my startup config to this thread, as well as the running config exported right after reboot. In both of them, I've sanitized the rows on user accounts.
Does anyone recognize this problem? Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Hi chrebert,
Thanks for your answer. You're right in concluding the VLAN 1 is my default VLAN. The problem is that the switch should contact my DHCP server over VLAN 1 and since the traffic on port 1 is not tagged, the traffic DHCP request will never reach my DHCP server. As a consequence, the switch always ends up with its factory default IP address (192.168.1.254) instead of the IP address assigned by the DHCP server. And yes, that's a problem
So to summarize, when I configure tagged access for VLAN 1 on port 1 and write this to the startup config, it is indeed present in the startup config afterwards. However, the switch ignores this upon reboot, causing VLAN 1 on port 1 to feature untagged access.
By the way, I completely set up the switch from scratch after restoring the config to factory defaults. It would be great if you could try to reproduce the issue and hopefully come with a fix. In case you need more information, please don't hesitate to contact me.

  • Vlan/Trunk Set up Questions

    Hi All,
I've got 2 switches, 1900 and 2900. I have created a vlan(2) and assigned port f0/2 to it and a trunk on f0/26. I have attached a cross-over cable to port f0/26 and attached a PC(192.168.168.12) to f0/2 with a straight cable. I have attached a straight cable to f0/1 and attached to the Fasteth0/0 port(192.168.168.1) of a 2600 router. On the 2nd switch(2900) I've also created a 2nd vlan(2). My question, is, for the 2nd switches vlan2 to be the same vlan as the 1st switches vlan2, what is required.? Neither of my 2 books show how to assign vlans/port to vlans on 2 switches together. EDIT: Is it that with vtp domain being status on both switches, and with creating a trunk and switch 1 is a server and switch is a client, the vlan2 created on switch 1 will propagate to switch 2.? Allowing the ability to assign ports to vlan2 from the 2nd switch.? Cheers.
    UPDATE****
    Hi All,
ok, deleted vlan2 on the 2900 switch and set vtp to client. I created a trunk on fa0/1 and attached a crossover cable to it that runs from the 1900's f0/1 which is trunked. But, when doing a show vlan on the 2900 the vlan2 created on the 1900 doesn't appear. What have I not done, or done correctly.? Cheers.

    Hi,
First of all, VTP is used for Vlan propagation on your network switches via trunk link. A trunk port is a used to carry the traffic for multiple vlans. IF you have created vlans on your switch which is a VTP server then those vlans will get propogated to your switches which are in the same VTP domain. Now Vlans will get propogated to all the Switches but the ports has be statically configred to their respective vlans which you have to do manually on each and every switch on your network. VTP only passes the Vlan info not the port settings.
For you 1st question, the answer is that you have 2 switches connected with Trunk Link and have the same VLAn info and respective port assingned and the the trunk link is carrying the traffic.
For q2, the answer is tha moment you crated the trunk the VTP infomation was propogated to you 2900 switch and hence you see the Vlan in database.
    HTH,

  • Slide Manager Go To setting ignored after publishing

I have a PPT that has slides I want skipped unless the user clicks on a hyperlink to access them.  I skip over these slides in the slide manager by setting the go to slide to the one after the slide to be skipped.  I also do not want any timings set so I have the PPT controls set to manual and the Presenter settings set so that none of the playback options are set and the slide timing is O.O.  After I publish the PPT the  large play button correctly cycles forward through the PPT skipping the slides I want skipped.  If the user instead uses the |< or the >| arrow keys it will cycle through each slide including the ones I want skipped. It also cycles through all the slides if the user decides to use the up or down arrow. [Edited: The latest published version does not advance on the user selecting the up or down arrow key from the keyboard until the presentation has been gone through one time] Is there a way to control the navigation better?
    Thanks.
    Linda

    Hi Linda
This is as it has been designed in Presenter.
The |< or the >| will only move the user on the the previous and the next slide.
The only way you can do this is disable the playbar and provide branching through hyperlinks in the presentation.
But if you want the playbar and the TOC to be there then I think it will not work the way you wanted
the only workaround for your problem is to provide hyperlinks to the entire presentation and remove the playbar and the TOC
    Thanks

  • SG200 vlan trunking?

    Hello,
    does SG200 supoort VLAN Trunking?

Hello, I think there is support:
I found this site too which shows how to configure it: http://lachlanmiskin.com/blog/2012/08/01/cisco-sg-200-08-trunking/
Cisco's datasheet says it supports tagging 802.1q.

  • SG200/300 Changes not commiting after reboot - LAG - Yes im saving config.

    Hi there,
I've noticed on both a SG200-26 and SG300-28 that once I've completed a configuration change and save the running config to the start up config that it reverts after a reboot. It seemed very weird to me so I started downloading the configuration prior to the reboot to confirm that the running config is the same as the start up and it is verified but once I reboot a different config is there. The second I login to the switch it's also flashing the save icon at the top.
Has anyone experienced this is? both switches are running the current firmware, and I've tried different web browsers and different pc's to confirm it wasn't a caching issue.
couple things to add, I noticed it when creating a LAG group. I'll removed the target ports from any vlans and add then to the LAG, and the vlans to the lag. save and reboot and then it reverts back to the ports not being in a LAG and being in the existing vlans. if I do remove the ports from the vlans and save and reboot the settings hold oddly enough.
As well when removing the ports from the LAG I get the following error "Configuration Database locked by terminal 0 application - please try later." I need to do one by one, and the odd thing is these ports revert back to the previous vlan's they where on.

    Hello,
What you are describing definitely isn't normal.  I see a lot of people who's VLAN configuration change around after a reboot, and that is usually because of smartport macros, but that isn't really what your issue sounds like.  I would try disabling smartport on the LAG members anyway (or globally if you aren't using it for anything else, just note on earlier firmware this will set all your ports back to trunk with VLAN 1 untagged when you first do it)
One thing I can say is the individual ports retain their own settings once you add them to the LAG, they just ignore them since the LAG settings are what matters at the point.  Once you remove the from the LAG they will revert back to whatever their settings were before you added them.
You mention the latest firmware, did you also upgrade the bootcode on the switches?  Odd things like your error message crop up when the bootcode is not updated as well, since we changed around some of the filesystem for newer firmware versions.
The fact that this happens on both of them indicates to me that it probably isn't a hardware problem, especially since it is two different models.
You mentioned that when you log in your save icon is flashing, I am wondering does the switch make you change your password when you login again?  If so it sounds like they are being reset to factory somehow.
Speaking of that, I would recommend once you upgrade the firmware to factory default them and reconfigure them manually.
Where do you see that error message, in the GUI or in the CLI?  It sounds like you have tried both, but I cannot really tell.  Posting your log files may be useful too, you can usually see there if your configuration save went through properly or not.
If the reset and reconfigure and bootcode all check out, go ahead and give us a call at the SBSC and we can get  case opened and take a look at what is going on here.  I have set up lots of LAGs in the lab and on customer's equipment, and haven't run across this issue before.
Hope that helps a bit and thank you for choosing Cisco,

  • Hyper-V 2012 R2 - Linux Guest VLAN Settings lost after reboot

    Hi Guys,
last night a have seen a strange behavior with a Sophos UTM 9.204020 Linux Guest VM. (This VM is based on SUSE SLES v11? i think)
So i have Setup this in my home lab and experienced the same problem.
    ----Setup-----
    2 External VM Switches
Management OS is on VLAN 4093 with IP 192.168.20.1
The guest network adapter is in Trunk Mode, VLAN Tag (4093) is set in the guest OS with IP 192.168.20.100
Everything works until you kick off a reboot from the guest or hyper-v console, after the reboot you loose the connectivity on the network adapter with the vlan trunk.
If you shutdown the guest and start it everthing works again - this happens only on reboot!!
I have tried diffrent things (static mac, enable disable hardware features (vmq/offloading etc) on the vm network adapter but always the same error.
After some search on the net i have found this article: Link
This guy has the same problem with another linux vm (based on debian) his workaround was to trigger a powershell script with the eventlog after reboot of the vm, this works for me too but this must be bug?
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
    André

    Hi Andre,
I would suggest you to install the supported Linux guest OS on hyper-v , please refer to following link:

  • After reboot PC sets speakers to 2

I've setup my 5. speakers and everything works great! After reboot, it's back to 2. and I have to change the settings manually. Why is it not saving my setup?

    Joachim_Joe wrote:
I turned off sync, rebooted and it stayed on 5., both in the control panel and in the SB Li've Speaker setting. Great. Weird, guess the sync function does not sync
    Anyone else have this problem?
I think this is quite old problem for CT software (I had this w/ SB Li've! Value).
But, if it still gives you grey hair and no other resolution can be found, then, you can autorun the script found from
    http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=soundblaster&message.id=69900
Set script to work the way it sets speaker mode to 5. and add a link to the script into startup folder.

Here's the steps I have taken:
    1) Open Applications, Account Preferences, cluck my administrator acc, select program to delete, click on - and wait.
    2) Remove some login items (with or without unlocking the lock, doesn't seem make a difference, tried both)
    3) Login items are now fewer
    4) Reboot
    5) voila, the removed login items are still loaded and displayed in login item tab.
How does one solve this? Tried to google, but....

    Hi,
This is the 2nd time this has happened.. I shut down my system, and boot it up later, and when I go to tap, nothing happens. I go into to system prefs > trackpad, and see that my tap to click & dragging options are unchecked......
Why is it not remembering those settings?
    -patrick

I also have this behavior. It seems all trackpad preferences fail to persist after reboot and logout/login. I also disable Pinch Open & Close and Rotate settings and those also revert.

  • WLC 2106 comes up after rebooting

    Hello.
I have installed a wlc2106 (ver 6.0.199.4).Everything was working fine until today...
Wlc seems that looses connectivity with core switch (3750).That time i couldn't ping the management ip and i couldn't see it with cdp.
After rebooting the controller the connectivity came up.The same situation was repeated after 30 minutes.
    I have attach the logs.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
WLC port and the switchport will auto negotiate the speed/duplex...You need not hard code speed/duplex on the switchport...You may try resetting
the switchport to defaults and configuring it again..for example,
    (config)# default interface
    (config)#int <>
    (config-if)#switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    (config-if)#switchport trunk allowed vlan x x x
    (config-if)#switchport mode trunk
No need to set the native vlan on the switchport side if you have the tagging on the controller
    management interface...
Once you make the above changes, reboot the WLC.
    Thanks,

  • Why does mls qos trust dscp dissapear after reboot?

The command takes but after reboot, Invlaid inputs detected show up and "mls qos tust dscp" is gone from every interface.
    Happens on both 2960-24PC-S / 2960-48PST-S switches.

    Hi,
    thanks for your reply.
    mls qos
    interface GigabitEthernet3/34
    description *** DATA VLAN 35 - VOICE VLAN 34 ***
    switchport
    switchport trunk native vlan 36
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 34,36
    switchport mode trunk
    mls qos trust dscp
    no cdp enable
    spanning-tree portfast trunk
If i don't include the global 'mls qos' command then the voice packets keep the dscp 46 value.  If I add the mls qos command this causes the switch to set the dscp values to zero.
    Thanks again
ps.  there are some other mls commands on the switch... i don't know if these could interfere but they were already on there so i'm reluctant to remove them..

  • Vlan Trunking issue

    Hi,
I need some help setting up  L3 Cisco 3560 for my VM lab. I have setup a few vlans and at this point I am trying to test out routing and connectivity. I came across with two issues and I am trying to get good advise from the experst since I am not
The Cisco 3560 is directly connected to my home router gi0/4 192.168.10.0/24 which would be my internet connection. The home router default gateway is 192.168.10.1.
I created Vlan192 on the 3560 to interact with the home router and get me to the outside world from the core. Obviously I'm doing something wrong here and came across 2 issues.
1- I tried setting Fas0/2 as trunk port and using the vlan226 on my pc but it wont work when I set this to my computer. It wont route to all vlans and I am not able to ping this 10.23.226.9 address from the 3560. The only way this works for me is if I set the IP to the 192 range which is my native Vlan, but anything other from 192 wont route.
    PC IP address
    10.23.226.9
    255.255.255.0

    Fas0/2 configurartion
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 192,224-229

    Glen,
Thanks for your advise. After changing the port as an access port I am able ping all vlans and my gateway from my home router 192.168.10.1, However a new issues came up. I am not able to get to the internet.
It seems it works from the 3560:
    zeus-sw1#ping yahoo.com
    Translating "yahoo.com"...domain server (255.255.255.255) [OK]
    Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 206.190.36.45, timeout is 2 seconds:
    Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 76/94/134 ms
    zeus-sw1#
It wont work from my pc:

  • SG300-28 & SG200-26 VLAN routing

I have a SG300-28 and a SG200-24. Both are running the latest firmware.
I am having some major issues getting mutliple vlans to route across the two switches.
On the SG300 I am in Layer 3 mode. I have configured 4 vlans 192.168.1.0/24, 192.168.2.0/24, 192.168.3.0/24 and 192.168.4.0/24 (vlan 1-4). Each vlan interface is configured with .1 of the respective vlan.
I have the SG200 connected to the SG300 via the last available port on each switch. They are set to trunk. I have created the VLANS on the SG200.
What I would like to do is set ports 1-4 on the SG200 to VLAN 2. Ports 7-12 on VLAN 3, and the rest on VLAN 4.
First off I am assuming this is possible. I have tried the configuration multiple ways, I've tagged ports, not tagged ports, etc. I'm not sure where to go from here.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello Thomas,
I am assuming you have created these VLANs on the SG300 (not just Layer 3 interfaces) as well. Also, the ports are automatically in Trunk mode. But you need to manually add VLANs that need to be tagged on those ports.

If you have done all these steps, can you please be more specific on the issues you are facing?
    Regards,

    Hi,
I suspect the IE require reboot and TS cannot catch this. So the TS cannot resume its state.
