SG200 SFP Compatibility

Hello,
We want to connect SG200 to Catalyst 2960X via optical fibre. Now on our SG200 (SG200-50P-K9-EU) switches are using D-Link DEM-311GT SFP modules.
We found module Cisco GLC-SX-MMD, that is compatible with Catalyst series switches, but there's no info about Small Business series. Someone has tried to run this module on Cisco SB?

Hello,
SG200 series support these SFP:

  • SG200 SFP GBIC Issue

    Hi All,
I am facing a weird case of SG200. I had a 3Com5500 switch with Fibre module GBIC connecting to the SG200 (Cisco GBIC). The particular port is untagged to vlan 2 with DHCP. By this way, the SG200 supposed to obtain an IP if it is logically communicating with the 3Com5500 and the PC connecting to the SG200 should get an IP too.
However, the SG200 seems like no obtaining an IP (the System LED keep blinking) and the PC connected to it does not get an IP too. The port LED of both side is blinking, means that they are physically connected.
    I had
I had tried to connect the fiber cable with the same GBIC to another unmanaged switch (Cisco SG92) and it is working fine (PC connected to it can get an IP too) .
I tried to connect the 3Com5500 to the SG200 with UTP and it is working fine too.
Does anyone meet this issue before? Please advise. Thanks!!

    This is very unusual.
I have a very strong feeling the issue is related to the modem. I can see that, according to the subnet mask, you will have many more addresses, but it appears to me you are getting public ip addresses on your entire network and that is very atypical.
Now, the second address you are getting is also a public IP address, and I believe that the modem gave it to you also, maybe because you ran out of your allotted addresses on the first subnet.
One again, all of this is speculation but I think that I may be right.
In regards to the switch, two things:
1- I really don't think this will fix your issue as I'm convinced the problem is not on the switch.
2- It is still a good idea to upgrade the firmware to the latest to make it more reliable and get new features.
With that being said, you can go to 1.3.5.58 and upgrade both firmware and boot code and then go to 1.4.0.8 and upgrade just firmware.

  • SFP Compatibility

Can i use SFP module- 1000BASE-SX on Cisco SG92 - 24 Port Unmanaged Switch?

SG92 belongs to the SG90 family so the SFP that SG90 supports should be supported by SG92

  • CISCO MDS 9124 SFP Compatibility

We recently received a number of spare SFPs in case of failure of the installed items. After having installed one of these SFPs in our test bed we receive the following notification:
%PORT-5-IF_DOWN_FCOT_VENDOR_NOT_SUPPORTED: %$VSAN 1%$ Interface fc1/1 is down (Error disabled - FCOT vendor not supported)
On checking the online documentation we located the following:
Error Message ETHPORT-5-IF_DOWN_FCOT_VENDOR_NOT_SUPPORTED: Interface [chars] is down (Error disabled - Fcot vendor not supported).
Explanation The inserted small form-factor pluggable (SFP) device is not supported.
Recommended Action Contact customer support for a list of authorized SFP vendors.
Introduced Cisco MDS SAN-OS Release 1.2(2a).
Does anyone know of any workarounds for this? Also does anyone know where we may locate a defnitive list of supported vendors [other than waiting on results from customer support].
    Thanks

    Hi Daniel,
As far as I know, only Cisco SFPs are supported.
Here is a link to the information on what SFPs are supported and where:

  • SFP+ Compatibility with Nexus 3065-x

    Hi,
I need to know if the STP-SFP+-LR Wavelenght 1310 10km  from other venders will be compatible with the Cisco Nexus 3065 switch. I know you can run
    switch(config)# service unsupported-transceiver
switch(config)# no errdisable detect cause gbic-invalid
My question is will it work?
    Thank you
    Etienne

From other vendors?  No it won't.
You can use those two hidden commands but any troubles with your 3rd party SFP+ will not be supported by TAC.
The reason is because there have been numerous well-documented cases where the 3rd party modules (not made by the big five) is the root of (or part of) the problem.

  • MGBLX1 compatibility Sw 2960X

My question is if the SFP MGBLX1 is compatible whit a Cisco Sw 2960X
    Thanks.

    Hello,
The MGBLX1 is meant for use with the Small Business line of switches.  From looking over the SFP compatibility matrix the 2960X will not support the MGBLX1.
If you are trying to connect from a MGBLX1 on a Small Business switch going to a Catalyst, the SFP on the Catalyst should be a GLC-LH-SM.  That info came from the Small Business to Enterprise SFP Compatibility chart.
Hope that helps, and thank you for choosing Cisco,

  • Cisco 3925 and SFP modules

I'm trying to install a MGBSX1 into the Cisco 3925 but it's doesn't seem it's detecting it for some reason.
I've changed media type and I've tested with another SFP module (GLC-SX-MM) which works fine.
Am I missing a command to enable this type of module on the Cisco 3925?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Looking at the SFP compatability table for 39XX series routers.

    The MGBSX1 is NOT mentioned
Looks like the MGBSX1 is only compatable with the Small Business switch family.

  • Sfp for Lan to lan Level 2

                       Hi,
Sorry i dont speak english, so i tried to explain my problem
ONLY FOR LAN TO LAN  L2 with vlan ...
I want to interconnect my office with a datacenter (2400 meters). One black fiber exist (i dont know if it s a multimod or monomod now)
In first i think to use  2 switchs 3750X with a sfp modul. With one fiber, i m compulsory to use BIDIRECTIONNAL SFP.
A Gibabit is sufficient for me.
Question  1   Is it a good solution and does SFT Exist for that on 3750X , if no other switch for that ?
Question 2 what else solution exist for metroplitain network (adaptateur  Fiber-Cover before ??
    Thanks you for help
    Bests regards
    Christophe

Q1. Bidirectional SFP (1000BASE-BX10-D and 1000BASE-BX10-U) is an acceptable solution for 1Gbps links with only one Singlemode (mono-mode) fiber available. Supports 10,000 meters over SMF.
Gigabit Ethernet SFP compatibility with 3750X can be found on website.
Q2. I do not understand what other information you are looking for.

  • Compatibility Cisco GLC-BX and MediaConverter AlliedTelesis

    Goodmorning to everyone.
We need you help about the GLC-BX SFP compatibility with the Media Converter
    Allied Telesis AT-MC1008/SP.
In particular we want to try the Cisco GLC-BX with AT-MC1008/SP (1Gbps ethernet trasmission on one single fibre).
Are there anyone formerly use this solution?
Can we consider AT-MC1008/SP and GLC-BX compatible?
    Or there are problems?
    Thank you very much.

If they are both media type LX they should work. You can replaced the AT-SPLX10 Allied Telesysn SFP on the MC with the cisco SFP.

  • Cisco 3G and CDMA modules

    Hi
I have a CDMA ISP, and I ned to connect my little network to the ISP, I found that Cisco has this kind of module for Cisco 881g series
    PCEX-3G-CDMA-V
    PCEX-3G-CDMA-S
    PCEX-3G-CDMA-B
When I ask my ISP to help me in my choice, the said:'' This kind of modules works only with 800 Mhz CDMA network, and they are not compatible with our 450Mhz network"
    Are they right?
Might be Cisco has 450Mhz modules?

  • CWDM on 3850-12S or 3850-24S

    Hi
Does anyone know if the CWDM optics are supported on the 3850-12S or 3850-24S switches (i.e. 12 or 24 SFP ports) - on the fixed SFP ports? On the SFP compatibility matrix it only lists compatibility for the C3850-NM-4-1G module. It looks like the compatibility matrix is not up to date as it doesn't even list compatibility for the 12S or 24S switches even for standard SX SFP's...
    Cheers

Then go HERE and look at Table 10.  This one is a lot more vague because it doesn't mention whether CWDM/DWDM will work on the appliance or on the network module.
If in doubt, either raise a TAC Case or contact your authorized Cisco reseller or your Cisco AM/SE and have the response in writing.

  • GLC-EX-SMD for 3750X-48T

    Hi,
The gigbit SFP compatibility guide shows GLC-EX-SMD (CPN 10-2624-01 or later only) works with 3750X as shown in the following screenshot. How could I know if the GLC-EX-SMD is CPN 10-2624-01 or later?
How could we identify it when ordering it?
    Thanks.

Leo, thank you for the detailed explanation. It is very clear and I will know how to exam the SFPs at hands. Totally answered my questions.
But how can I gurantee that the new ones I am ordering having a Cisco Part Number 10-2624-01 or later? In CCW, it doesn't showing CPN. Does that mean I need to do a RMA if the part number is not suitable? I just think it will be helpful if Cisco can provide the CPN number in CCW if it matters for compatibility reason.
Anybody has this experience this and got a solution?
Thank you insharie for inputs as well.
    Thanks.

  • SGE2000 - SG300 - MGBLH1 - Connectivity/DHCP/VLAN

    Hi Experts,
Need your help, advise and support to fix the below issue in bringing our network
Just extended our intranet buildings with Fiber Optic Connectivity with the Following Components
    Data Center Building
    1. SG2000 - CISCO
    2. 24 port LIU - MOLEX
    3. GBIC SFP Transceiver - single mode SG300 MGBLH1 - CISCO
    New Building with OFC Terminated
    1. SG300 Switch SG300-28P (SRW2024P-K9) - CISCO
    2. 24 port LIU - MOLEX
    3. GBIC SFP Transceiver - single mode SG300 MGBLH1 - CISCO
Post the OFC Termination and Splicing, we are able to get the Link and connectivity through the SFP Ports.
But unable to get the Ethernet Link up and running.
SG2000 is configured to be L3 Mode Switch with couple of VLAN configurations and working perfectly well.
Have configured one of the custom VLAN in the new building and made the DHCP Relay to be passed through,  but it is not passing the DHCP traffic.
But peculiarly, when we connect both the ends with SG300, it works like a charm.
Hence, i went back to basics and checked the SFP compatibility, and alas, the MBGLH1 is compatible with SG2000
Please advise, what additional should be made to extend the network with the above setup.

    Hi.,
I am sorry for delayed reply.
This issue has been addressed and fixed. To update what the issue was.
    1. When we connected the SFP Ports to the corresponding locations, link was up but it did get pass traffic through, as I was tailing my DHCP server logs.
    2. My ex-colleague helped me to understand, though the SFP ports are separate on this Switch(SG300), the moment we connect a SFP port, one of the ethernet port which lits up has to be configured to our requirements.
    3. I had allowed the corresponding Gig port g/11 to allow the specific vlan and enabled the dhcp relay option. It started receiving the traffic on the DHCP Server.
One more Issue was: Only Ports g/11 and g/23 were working out of the Four SFP ports.
While troubleshooting, sh interface commands showed the g/12 and g/24 as blank, and after 3 hours of continuous amateur troubleshooting,
When logged into the GUI mode of the switch and clicked on the port g/12 in the status page, it threw an error stating, that "This is a stacking port and cannot be configured".
Then I disabled the Stacking mode and had to reload the switch to make it work.
It was really an awesome learning and was very interesting to do such stuff.
I am sorry if something were very basic things which I should have done and missed it. Forgive me as I am a system administrator who has deep interests in working with networking.
Please help as I may be posting many other questions like this as I am volunteering my time and support to a non profit organization.
    Way to go !!!

  • Optical Fiber Backbone Problem.

I work in an Oil Drilling Company. We have an oil field that is very large and has different office blocks at variable distances with each other. The distance doesnt exceed 2KM. Fiber Cable used is Multi Mode Fiber.
I am planning to connect them all to one central site. The Problem is that i borrowed a couple of SFP's and tested them in my Head Office. But they were producing huge losses. Please tell me what things i need to check. Also suggest any other solutions that might work in this situation.
    Jay Kishan

    Hi Jay
Are you seeing any error logs in your switches related to this SFP or Link ?
Though i m not sure about the log availability in 3 COM that mite help in decoding the error message..
You can also refer the below link on different kinda SFP's available and the max distance it can support...
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/modules/ps5455/products_data_sheet0900aecd801f931c.html
AFAIK and as per my experience i have seen SFP compatibility issues with Cisco switches in which if you try to install other vendor SFP's it will get onto err disable mode.
You can verify the logs on the switch and make sure that you are rectifying the same...
Also instead of FX did you try connecting with LX i feel it goes upto 10KM..

  • Sfp-ge-s= is it compatable with a glc-sx-mm

Could I have a sfp-ge-s= on one side of a multimode fiber link and a glc-sx-mm= on the other side of the link and you were within the correct distance from each other.  Will they talk to each other if they are the same wavelength. Is there a chart somewhere interfaces will work with each other and what won't.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I don't know of a chart that shows which transceivers are compatible with each other, but the transceivers you mention are both 1000BASE-X transceivers using 850nm wavelength on mulitmode fibre so should have no issues.
From the Cisco Gigabit Ethernet Transceiver Modules Compatibility Matrix:
SFP-GE-S= 1000BASE-SX SFP transceiver module for MMF, 850-nm wavelength, extended operating temperature range and DOM support, dual LC/PC connector
GLC-SX-MM= 1000BASE-SX SFP transceiver module for MMF, 850-nm wavelength, dual LC/PC connector
