SG500X-48 forwards traffic on all ports
Hello to everybody!
I have a problem with my SG500 which I do not understand: It is forwarding all traffic to all ports. So for
me it looks like it behaves like a hub.
Can anybody please help me?
I have a SG500X-48 with firmware version 1.2.0.97 which is in "standalone" mode with this configuration:
switch8d3012#sh run

Hi Wire Man,
By the way those switches are now on 1.4 firmware and yours is still 1.2 so would suugest you to start with upgrade.

CGS-2520-16S-8PC only half of SFP Ports forwarding Traffic
HI all,
we have two CGS-2520-16S-8PC with links in different directions. All SFP Ports are UP but only the half of it forwarding Traffic. We need all Ports .
In one of the Cisco documents I found this hind : "The100BASE-FX SFP ports and the 10/100 PoE ports are grouped in pairs. The first member of the pair (port 1) is above the second member (port 2) on the left. Port 3 is above port 4, and so on. The dual-purpose ports are numbered 1 and 2. "
But more about it is not found in the documemnts. So i have no clue how to bring all Ports to forward traffic.
Have some one an idea ?
PhilippSorry but a gigabit-only transceiver will not work on 100 Mbps-only SFP ports.
There's almost always a good reason why something is not listed in the compatibility table. -
ASA 5510 with Cisco 2811 Router Behind it - Not forwarding traffic
Hi all,
Some might know that I have been dealing with an issue where I cannot seem to get forwarded packets to reach their destinations behind an ASA 5510 that has a Cisco 2811 connected directly behind it.
Some examples that work.
I can SSH into the ASA.
I can SSH to the Cisco Routers behind the ASA.
I cannot reach items beind the Cisco Routers.
My Configuration is this (I am sure I included a bunch of info I didn't need to, but I am hoping it'll help!):
I have a static Ip assigned to my Ouside Interface Ethernet 0/1
It has an IP address of 199.195.xxx.xxx
I am trying to learn how to shape network traffic (this is all new to me) via the ASA and the Routers to specific devices.
The Inside Interface on the ASA is 10.10.1.1 255.255.255.252
The Outside Interface on the 2811 is 10.10.1.2 255.255.255.252
I can ping the router from the ASA. I can SSH through the ASA to the router.
BUT I CANNOT ACCESS DEVICES BEHIND THE ROUTER.
So, I wanted to BAM that statement above because I just don't kjnow where the issue is. Is the issue on the router or the ASA, my guess is, the router, but I just don't know.
Here are my configs, helpfully someone can help.
ASA errors on the ASDM when I try and hit resources; specifically a web device behind the ASA and the 2811. It's Ip address 192.168.1.5 it's listening on port 80.Static IP, not assigned via DHCP.

no message-leI ran those commands while I had the nat off on the router and here are the results. note, i didn't make any changes to the ASA as you only said to remove the router RIP which I did and reloaded and no change.
As long as the statements ip nat outside on the Fastethernet 0/0 is off and the ip nat inside is off on the vlan and the overload statement is taken out, I cannot hit the internet.

How do I forward traffic to an IP Address from a gateway through an extreme?
I have a DVR for a Camera system attached to a WiFi Ethernet device (becuase there is too far a distance between the DVR and Cable Gateway). When it was attached directly attached to the cable modem, I used Port Forwarding to route traffic to the DVR. That worked great. NOW I have to use the WiFi adapter and that is connecting to the Airport Extreme. The Aiport Extreme is connected to that cable modem.
So I understand how to forward traffic from the modem to an IP address (the Extreme's IP perhaps ??) but then how do I send that traffic through the Extreme to the wifi-ethernet adapter connected to the DVR ?I am on my mobile phone getting an address of 10...83 through the router 10...1.
Then the DVR setup on 10...69 IS accessible.
When I switch my wifi off (on the mobile phone) and I use the ip address (23…94) of the modem w/ port specification I do not get connected.
When I plug DIRECTLY into the Cable Modem and get an IP address of 10…53, via (Mac OS X) I CAN access the DVR again with ip of 10…69.
When I use WIFI (via the AE) I get an IP Address of 10…44 and CAN access the DVR as well.
I have also confirmed traffic is port forwarding to .69:7000 as per the port specified on the DVR.
So with all that it is confirmed, I tried it again and and still not working...
THEN I reset the AE, Resset the Wifi Adapter, Reset the DVR and updated Firmwares, started with the basics outline from everyone and IT'S WORKING!!
I believe it was actually all the AE and requiring a reset on that device.
Thank you again for all the help, this was a fun challenge! -
Frames forwarded to wrong access port
Hi,
my problem is quite simple:
I have an access port of my switch 3750 that receive frames that aren't for his mac-address -.-
System image file is "flash:c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-40.SE/c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-40.SE.bin"
Here the config:
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/11
description Server fisico test LACP
switchport access vlan 103
switchport mode access
spanning-tree portfast
end
Acc-Dev-SAP02#show mac address-table interface GigabitEthernet1/0/11
Mac Address Table
Vlan Mac Address Type Ports
103 000a.e481.1b90 DYNAMIC Gi1/0/11
Total Mac Addresses for this criterion: 1
The switch correctly show the mac-address of my ethernet port:
[root@server ~]# ifconfig management0 | grep -i ether
ether 00:0a:e4:81:1b:90 txqueuelen 1000 (Ethernet)
Now I assume that if I try to sniff the traffic on my ethernet card eth0 (I renamed it with udev) I should see only frame that have in the dest_ether my mac address but it is not so! Here a little sniff with tcpdump:

Anyone could explain to me because I receive traffic that should be for 00:0c:29:98:ee:48? It seems like the switch is working like an hub -.-

Rick, I'm sure, has simplified "... so forwards to all ports in the vlan.", but just to note, that excludes the ingress port. -
MARS - "Sudden increase of traffic to a port" rule
Hello. I duplicated the system rule "Sudden increase of traffic to a port" in MARS and it blew out the original system rule and now shows up as a user rule. It doesn't appear to be working either. It is active. Not sure what to make of this, and neither is TAC. Anybody every mess up a system rule like this? Anyway to recover it? Thanks!
I upgraded to 4.2.2 and the rule seems to have been restored as a system rule. I noticed that it is showing up in our morning report (Event Types Ranked by Sessions), but we are not recieving an email or page for this rule firing (email/SMS notification works for all other rules). I ran a query for this event for the time period of the report it showed up on and no results were returned. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Only system vlans forward traffic on 1000v
I am trying to migrate to a Nexus 1000v vDS but only VM's in the system VLAN can forward traffic. I do not want to make my voice vlan a system VLAN but that is the only way I can get a VM in that VLAN to work properly. I have a host with its vmk in the L3Control port group. From the VSM, a show module shows the VEM 3 with an "ok" status. I currently only have 1 NIC under the vDS control. My VM's using the VM_Network port group work fine and can forward traffic normally. When I put a VM in the Voice_Network port group I lose communication with it. If I add vlan 5 as a system vlan to my Uplink port profile then the VM's in the Voice_Network work properly. I thought you shouldn't create system vlans for each vlan and only use it for critical management functions so I would rather not make it a system vlan. Below is my n1k config. The upstream switch is a 2960X with the "switchport mode trunk" command. Am I missing something that is not allowing VLAN 5 to communicate over the Uplink port profile?

How can I mirror all ports on CISCO 3750 switches to one Gigabyte port?
Hi,
I have a requirement to mirror all the ports on my 7 CISCO 3750 switches, which are in 3 separate stacks, to one single Gigabyte Ethernet port.
Does anyone know how I can do that?
Thanks in advance.Vlad, thanks a heap for your response.
I want to apply to my sitation. Please let me know if I get them right in the following:
Catalyst A
vlan 901
remote-span
monitor session 1 source interface fastethernet 1-48 (I want to monitor all ports on the CISCO 3725)
monitor session 1 destination remote vlan 901
Catalyst B
vlan 901
remote-span (If I don't need to monitor this switch, do I still need to put anything into this switch at all?)
Catalyst C
vlan 901
remote-span
monitor session 1 source interface fastethernet 1-48 (I want to monitor all ports on this switch as well)
monitor session 1 source remote vlan 901
monitor session 1 destination interface gigabitethernet 3 (There are 4 Gigabit Ethernet Uplink in CISCO 3750, I want all the traffic to go to port 3, is this the right way to do?)
Thanks in advance. -
How ASA forwarding traffic to AIP-SSM
Hi All,
Can someone help how ASA device forwarding traffic to AIP-SSM? I'm not taking abt Configuration part like Class-map, policy-map and service policy....want to understand the traffic flow from ASA once traffic matched with ACL to AIP-SSM.
From one of Cisoc document, understood that the module using a Cisco Propietary protocol for communicating with ASA appliance.
================================================================================================================
FYR from Cisco Website:
Q. How does the Cisco ASA AIP-SSM plug into and communicate with the appliance?
A. The Cisco ASA AIP-SSM plugs directly into the SSM slot in the Cisco ASA appliance's chassis. This provides a direct connection to the appliance's backplane. Once the module is installed, a proprietary protocol runs over the bus and controls data flow and messaging between the module and appliance.
================================================================================================================
Regards,
S.VinothHey ,
as you mentioned above , it uses a cisco Probietary protocol for that communication , there are two interfaces , control channel and data channnel , data channel is where the traffic being forwarded , the backplane is the connection between the ASA and the IPS interface .
Hope that this helps .

hello. i have a hp pavilion g3435d pc dekstop with mainboard series ms-7525 (boston). now..... my computer doesn't worked ( not good ) becouse all port sata ( 4 port sata ) at motherboard can detected all my harddrive. i was try to connect with other good harddrive, " hardisk and dvd rw........" but still not connected and detected with bios and OS. can anybody help me...!!! what should i do....??? thanks
I figured it out. I'm trying to access the port from my work network and the firewalls are blocking the outbound traffic on that port. I just tried an accessing the iport from my mobile phone and I was able to get a reply. So the lesson learned is try and access the ip/port from another network because there may be a firewall blocking your access.

RV042 - How to close all ports and leave some specific open
Hello everybody,
Here is the scenario of my network:
- A company with 20 branches in Rio de Janeiro area. The main servers are in a datacenter located in downtown.
Each branch has a RV042 router with firmware version 1.3.12.19-tm (Feb 13 2009 13:03:21) installed.
All users in this network have a proxy configuration pointing to proxy.[blah].com.br port 3128.
The HTTP/HTTPS traffic should go through proxy only.
The network settings for every RV042 are similar:
RV042 LAN IP = 172.16.***.1 /24.
RV042 WAN IP = 192.***.***.*** /30.
Network Setting Status
LAN IP: 172.16.***.1 /24
WAN1 IP: 192.168.***.*** /30
WAN2 IP: Not used
Mode: Router
DNS(WAN1): 208.67.220.220 / 208.67.222.222 [OpenDNS Service]
DNS(WAN2): Not used
Firewall Setting Status
SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection): On
DoS (Denial of Service): On
Block WAN Request: On
Firewall -> Access Rules Section: Please see below
The problem:
- Some "smart" users were caught using Ultrasurf application, which changes the proxy settings to go through port 9666 or even 443.
In other machines, we've found some black proxies [for example: 212.46.27.142 port 8080].
My objective:
- To close all ports in Firewall -> Access Rules section and grant permission only to some selected and specified ports.
- To redirect all HTTP/HTTPS connections to go to proxy's IP address only.
Gentlemen, could you please tell me which Access Rules can I set in these RV042s in order to block and prevent these users to continue abusing this network? Is there anything else am I missing?
P.S.: The users who were caught using Ultrasurf were fired. ;-)
I gladly appreciate your comments.
Thanks in advance,
LucianoHello Randy,
Thanks for your answer. But let me tell you better. In this scenario, all machines in LAN can use RDP and VNC normally.
I want to block everything else, just to avoid users to try using other ports.
You might want to try Deny all traffic out, except for the PC's you need to use RDP, and then only allow 80, and 443 to the proxy.[blah].com.br port 3128. This way all web traffic would have to pass through that proxy, otherwise it would be denied.
In this network, we use VNC to provide remote IT support to users in these branches.
They use RDP to access some servers in the datacenter.
I think that the rule below line 6 is letting users go and traverse the proxy.
Priority Policy Name Enable Action Service Source Iface Source Destination Time Day
* Allow All Traffic [1] LAN Any Any Always
How can I modify this access rule? It seems it cannot be altered.
Thanks in advance,
Luciano -
How do you block or filter traffic to udp port 192?
We are a company trying to stay an "apple office". We use an airport express for our networking and have recently been trying to become PCI "Payment Card Industry" Compliant for our credit card terminal that uses our wireless network. A company hired by the credit card processing company is running scans on our system and we keep failing because of UDP port 192. The specific message they are sending us is:
"Synopsis : The remote host is a wireless access point. Description : The remote host is an Airport, Airport Extreme or Airport Express wireless access point. It is possible to gather information about the remote base station (such as its connection type or connection time) by sending packets to UDP port 192. An attacker connected to this network may also use this protocol to force the base station to disconnect from the network if it is using PPPoE, thus causing a denial of service for the other users. Solution: Filter incoming traffic to this port and make sure only authorized hosts can connect to the wireless network this base station listens on."
I have tried changing all the settings using the Airport Utility including creating a closed network; un-checking allow setup over WAN, un-checking allow SNMP; using 128 bit encryption. I looked all over apple discussions and the internet and can't find a solution. The testing company told me that I need to find out how to filter traffic to udp port 192 or block the port altogether. Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated as we keep failing these scans.Hi All. I am having the exact same problem with my PCI payment card industry compliance - where I will now be charged a monthly fee because I cannot alleviate this port 192 problem with my airport extreme base station. They very much consider it a security risk and won't budge. They want me to filter/block incoming traffic on this 192 port, I don't know what to do to satisfy their requirements. I have searched and read all the main discussions but, none actually offer a solution - just folks like us looking for help. I also closed network by un-allowing all options in airport utility. I also de-selected automatic date and time stamp. I would very much appreciate any possible suggestions as prefer to remain a long time loyal mac user but cannot afford the monthly fee to be imposed. There's gotta be a solution. I thought mac was ahead of the game in this (and all) areas. Thanks.

2960X Switch Stack Master Switch all ports only link in Orange
I have 2 Cisco 2960X-48FPD-L switches running the latest version 15.0(2)EX5 software in a stack using the flex stack modules and 2 stacking cables between them.
The problem I am having is that even though I can manage the entire stack without issues the master switch for some reason will not let me link any devices of SFP's fully in. If I plug any device or fiber link in the show interface shows link and line protocol up but the ports only link in orange. I can see the connected devices via a show CDP neighbor command but cannot connect to them and if I do a show spanning-tree it says I have no spanning tree instances.
The second switch (non master) all ports link in just fine green and I can connect to it from the rest of my network via a fiber link on the SFP port. A show spanning-tree also shows the correct information for the spanning tree instance for the second switch.
Has anyone run into this and if so is there an easy solution?
JimUnfortunately removing the "cluster enable Switch-2960X-Cluster 0" configuration did not fix my issue. However I have found the following while troubleshooting that may be useful.
1. The problem seems to exist only on whichever switch is designated the master switch, connections to the member switch work fine.
2. If I switch the priority such that on a reboot the switches swap roles (Master to Member and vice versa) the ports that were linking in green, now link in orange and stop passing traffic and the ports that were linking in orange now link in green and start passing traffic. (Simply, the switch that is master will not link any ports in green only the switch designated as master).
3. Strangely the ports that link in orange show interface and line protocol up and I can see devices such as IP Phones and other switches with a show CDP neighbor and a show CDP neighbor detail. However they can't receive an ip address from the DHCP server and can't pass high level traffic.
4. The switch ports that are linked in only orange do not show up in the output of a "Show Spanning-Tree" command.
What do you think? This is really stumping me. -
Unable to log in user at this time / opening up all ports
I've got a lion 10.7.3 server and several Lion client boxes all attached via ethernet to an airport extreme.
I've got a bona fide certificate that seems to have installed correctly, and the client is talking to the open directory server
Without fail, I get a message "unable to log in the user at this time" on each of the clients...
UNLESS I open up all ports on my airport extreme to the server.
I've tried opening individual ports for AFP, profile manager (1640, 2195), open ldap (389, 636) and even kerberos (88). Even with all of these open, it still doesn't work. I have to open up everything to get the error to go away - then the users can log in just fine.
Note, I'm logging in from the local network to a server on the local network, so this just seems bizarre.
I don't have the logs on this computer, but I recall that the error was occurring when it tried to mount the home directory, after authentication. It was an error 64 from homedirmounter (if memory serves).
Any thoughts on what port I'm missing that might be causing the error?3659 is the SASL port used by the password server, so that makes a certain amount of sense.
However, I still maintain that if your network is configured in the way I'd expect, the base station shouldn't be relevant. The clients should be connecting on a LAN-to-LAN basis so the firewall/filter in the base station shoudn't be in play.
Given what you say, I suspect you've misconfigured your network - probably at the DNS level and you're not running private DNS for your LAN, which would force the clients to connect through the public address. The risks and downside of this approach are numerous - not least of which is the fact that you ARE exposing your server to the general public (including all the less-than-honourable people out there). On that basis there is a risk and i'd look to close that soonest.
You should have a private DNS server running on your LAN that knows the private network addresses of your servers and clients. In this way any client should be able to connect directly to the server's LAN address, bypassing the public interface on your base station. I suspect that if you perform a DNS lookup on your server's hostname you get back its public address, right? -
I am having trouble viewing iStore. It appears as if its a Flash issue, as several minutes after logging in to iStore I get a non-flash page of iStore in my iTunes window. I have re-installed everything and tried opening all ports in router, and used msconfig to bring up each service individually to see if there is an effect.Flash and iTunes have been re-installed ...any ideas?
I agree. I don't rely on iCloud as a backup, that is what I have my portable hard drive for. Its 500 GB so I can hold my entire iTunes library several times over on it. I have all my movies on my hard drive, but somehow "The Mist" got deleted off of my hard drive, so I figured "Well, the option to redownload an already purchased movie is available through iCloud, I'll just do that!"
And permissions and download availability have nothing to do with it, the movie's still there, it still allows me to redownload it. The only problem is when I click download, I get that message.
And nobody else uses my computer, but I do have multiple accounts authorized on it. Even still though, I am attepmpting to download it through the account I purchased it under. :/
