SG500 - Fatal Errors & Reboots
These fatal errors and subsequent reboots are observed on my SG500-52P when I was reconfiguring the LAG ports on my server.
I had the ports added to a LAG on the switch but the ports on the server were still just regular access ports.
I was doing some other things and left it like this for a little while but the switch was very angry...
Also, please note that, after these reboots on it's own, the switch actually stopped passing traffic and had to be manually power cycled by hand to restore connectivity.

The root cause of this issue is explained below:
a. The issue is caused by a timeout to an MLD join that device receives on one of its ports.
b. Reboot will happen only if the MLD join is to one of the Link Local Multicast groups of which the switch is member. (this membership is added automatically under some IPv6 configurations. You can see this membership by using command “show bridge multicast address-table”.
c. Examination of info from you leads us to believe that MLD report to group fe02::1:2 (All DHCP Agents) is the one that caused reboot.
d. Device becomes member of this group due to command “ipv6 dhcp relay destination ” configured on VLAN 1.
e. You reported that it is noticed sometimes when firewall server config is changed or rebooted, we assume that when this server comes up – it sends out an MLD report for the above group - fe02::1:2 . (we can check this by capturing traffic on the server after reboot and checking if such message is sent).
A firmware with the related fix is scheduled for release in July. -
SG 30052 MP - Fatal Error Emergency!!!
Hi to all,
up to tonight our SG 300-52MP switch worked fine.
This morning nothing was working because of the following error showing up in the Flash Memory Log ...
The switch only had the power LED on - all the other LEDs were off. But PoE power was available from the switch?!?

Do you have any hints on this??
I just restarted the switch and it seems to work again ... but I don't want this to happen again.
Thanks a lot for your help.
Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPad AppPossibly a software bug, but what's on port g52? It would seem that it doesn't like what's on there not being statically set. You may be able to get around this problem by hard coding speed/duplex for that device.

FATAL Error After Power Cycle- GVRP related?
Hello all,
Happy New Year!
I have a network of four 300 Series small business switches. All are running software version 1.3.5.58 (latest version).
Three of them are connected by 2 Port LAG groups to the central switch which in turn connects to the internet facing router. There is no loops in the architecture and spanning tree is running. There are a total of 4 VLANs and GVRP is enabled with the four VLANs statically created on the main switch.
Normally everything runs very happily and is perfectly stable.
However, a power failure this morning resulted in a power cycle on two of the switches. They did not recover gracefully and kept restarting.
I removed the ports from the LAG groups in the main switch (not impacted by the power cycle) and then rebuilt them to recover connectivity and restore normal operation.
Both of the switches which restarted had multiple entries in their log files like this:-
%GVRP-F-NOSTATREG: GVRPP_checkStaticToDynamic_update: Port isn't Statically registered on vlan 100 ***** FATAL ERROR ***** Reporting Task: BRMN. Software Version: 1.3.5.58 (date 10-Oct-2013 time 17:15:41) 0x16adbc 0x166f28 0x6df2b0 0x48fad8 0x4903e8 0x490608 0x51a234 0x79dfd8 0x7b9f8c 0x7c1500 0x445d 88 0x41e04c 0x7d4c80 0x61cb68 0x1223f0 ***** END OF FATAL ERROR *****
Has any one seen this before? Have I made some "rookie" mistake with by GVRP configuration?
Kind Regards,
Andy.Hi Andrew, the GVRP database is kind of a strange creature (the protocol itself is just strange). By removing a VLAN or interface from the GVRP database, when the join message is sent it will send an update to the downstream switch. I suspect that by removing the LAG there was an unintended database change (in fact the database on the receiving switch didn't have the desired database as you modified the trunk which strips all VLAN). So what happens is the downstream switch "defaulted" to 1 vlan then the re-establishment of the LAG sent more VLAN and the GVRP database didn't match up.
Does this kind of make sense?
If you're in for a simple lab you can create a trunk between switches with multiple vlans tagged (do like 5 vlans, not just 2). Then remove one of those vlans off the master switch. Observe the behavior.

P45 online filing for EXPAT payroll ended with fatal error - UK payroll
Hi Team,
When the user trying to submit P45s online for EXPAT payroll area for the first time, she receives a Fatal Error.
Error in detail is "Fatal error reported by Government Gateway". The submission was successful for al other payroll areas.
We have observed that the User id which is used for this Expat payrolll is different from others. All have 12 alpha numaric characters, and the Expat has all numerics with spaces in between resulting in 14 characters including spaces.
We thought the user id with spaces might be the cause of Fatal error.
We use PB2A tcode for online submission.
Please let me know if you have any advise to avoid this error.
Thanks in advance
VeenaHi Shyam,
User id is verified and it is ok as per the ID file received. But we doubt there could not be any spaces in between and the length of user id also differs from all others. If some one can verify the format of Userid with their own system and let me know if my doubt is correct..we can try changing the userid and test.

Oracle 8i database: FATAL ERROR IN TWO-TASK SERVER
Hi,
We've been using Portal 3.0.7.6.2 since it was available. We've just upgraded to Oracle Database 8.1.6.3 (to resolve Apache GPF crashing problems) and have now noticed that our database server process terminates with a fatal error when we try to administer users, though in particular, adding users to existing groups. Error message as follows:
*** SESSION ID:(8.8) 2001-01-16 16:43:16.140
FATAL ERROR IN TWO-TASK SERVER: error = 12571
*** 2001-01-16 16:43:16.156
ksedmp: internal or fatal error
ORA-12571: TNS:packet writer failure
ORA-06512: at line 18
The only way to recover is to terminate the instance's service and restart. This happens every time we add more than 2 users to a group.
Any help would be appreciated.

# symptom: FATAL ERROR IN TWO-TASK SERVER:
# symptom: ERROR = 12571
# symptom: trace file generated
# symptom: Database operations continue successfully
# cause: The most common cause for the above error is an ungraceful disconnection of a session from the oracle db while the db is currently running a dml statement issued by that session. The error is recorded when oracle attempts to reply back to the session with the results of the dml and cannot access the session. Overall database operations are usually not affected.

The ora-12571 error usually occurs when the client abruptly terminates with a Ctrl-C or powers down.

The ora-12571 error, usually, indicates an instability with Oracle with the network. Communication Gap between eHub and Database Server.

Modify Webi Report causes Java Plug-In Fatal Error
Environment: BOXIR2 SP3 Windows XP
Java loaded: Java 1.6.0_07 + JRE 1.4.2_04 + JInitiator 1.3.1.24
Hi,
I have been happily developing Webi reports on my PC for several years and to my knowledge, I have not upgraded my Java software even when I get prompted by Java that updates are available as I know how problematic upgrading can be if it is not supported by BO.
I am suddenly getting a Java Plug-In Fatal Error every time I try to modify a Webi report with the message " The Java Runtime Environment cannot be loaded".
We have uninstalled Java and re-installed the same Java versions but stil the same problem.
Any help appreciated.
Best Regards
Ben Iannunzio
Adelaide South AustraliaHi Ben
I remember having some issues running Java 1.6.0_xx on BOXI R2 and made sure we were on Java 1.4.2_xx.
Another thing you might want to try before uninstalling is to clear the Java cache, it can be found under...
local install drive\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache
If you also haven't already done so, I'd reload the current Java version (after your uninstall) directly from the server by trying to create or modify a new WEBI report.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

A fatal error was reported by SAR firmware during initialization
Dears,
After upgrading the SMU to one of our IOS XR GSR, we got the following error:
g_spa_2[173]: SPA ATM1/2 SAR: A fatal error was reported by SAR firmware during initialization: Firmware version mismatch [Error code 2002]. SPA will reset
The line card went into constant reload.
I could not locate any bug related.
Could it be hardware issue ?
Thanks,
Michel.it could be the wrong hw rev for the atm spa is used (I thought you needed a V2).
that could be part of the problem.
alternatively, I would let the SIP boot without the SPA, invoke a fpd update, insert the SPA, try to update the fpd of the SPA, if that still fails, I think you need to open a tac case.
doesnt look like a hw failure to me, but this is a hw issue (fw revision situation)
regards
