SGD 4.6 and Mac OS X Clients

On some Mac OS X computers I get the following message when trying to login:
Error - SGD Client Helper+
Failed to install the SGD client+
has someone came across this issue?

Were there things that required correction? If you click on Mailbox in the menubar, is Take Offline available or Take Online? Or if more than one account, check this using the Online Status item.

Hi,
I am trying to configure the FVS318 VPN for iPhone and Mac clients to connect to. I have been able to set it up that all hard wired and wireless connections with in the network to connect seemlessly, but when it comes to VPN I am not able to get any connection from outside the network. I have set all the usernames, passwords and shared secrets multiple times and I am unable to connect even after reseting it. Any help setting this would be great.

Are you using your external IP address to set this up? This works while on the network, as in at the office but not from any connection outside? What IP scheme are you using on the Netgear? If you are using something like 192.168.1.1 and starbucks uses the same scheme it wont work. Try setting your Netgear to something like 192.168.33.1

HTTPS Inspection and MAC OS X Clients

Hi together,
we want to enable HTTPS Inspection at our TMG Cluster....but the counterpart is, Mac OS X Clients wont be able to connect to SSL Sites after we activate it.
So i am aware of this blogpost

We had a certificate generated by our own internal CA, generated like described in this blogpost

After we faced the problems with os x we didnt do more research and renewed the certificate with the options of the second blogpost but as Windows Server 2008 CA Cert.
But still, MAC OS X (Safari) cant reach HTTPS Sites, Firefox on MAC OS X works fine.
I`ve downloaded the certificates to check if it is ASCII or Unicode...here are the results:

So i think the problem is the last one while this is still as utf8 issued...but why? Shouldn`t this also a printable/ASCII one? How can i fix it?

so while it isnt possible to use sha256, i am unable to issue cng certificates after using a 2003 based CA Template. So this cant be a solution....

SGD 4.6 and Mac OSX 10.6.5 / Keyboard mapping problem

Dear all
With Mac Clients we have the problem that Keyboard mapping does not work correctly:
Swiss German Umlaute like ö ä ü don't appear if we don't specify the xdeswiss.txt keyboard map file under SecurID User Profile - Client Device (we've tried the option Client's Input Locale).
Now the problem is that we also have Users from Spain, UK, France connection to the same SGD also using the SecurID User profile....
Anyone an idea how to solve this?

The regular Mac OS X 10.46 updater will only update Mac OS X 10.45. The combo Mac OS X 10.46 updater will update 10.4 through 10.44 as well as 10.45. When performing troubleshooting or replacing missing software components on your computer, it may be useful to rerun the combo updater. If you will be updating from 10.45 to 10.46, you should use the regular updater, as it is a smaller download.

Difference on developing client applications on PC and Mac platform.

I would like to know wats the difference on developing client applications on PC and Mac platform.
If i were to create software applications using Javascript, MS SQL Server 2000 and JAVA on Mac platform, would there be any difference from those we created on PC(Windows)?

Threads come to mind...as even when they are written as "Pure Java".. the native thread implementation can work harry cary (as opposed to Harry Potter) on your app...

How to install IPSec Client Certificate for Apple products (iPad,iPhoe and Mac)

We need Ipsec vpn client authentication with certificate (instead of pre-shared key). We tested the same with Windows client and its works fine. However when we used the same certificates with Apple products (iPad, iPhoe and Mac) it doesnt work.
We have two types of certificates installed on the client from the CA server.
One is the root certificate with the extenstion .cer
and the other one is client certificate with the extension of .pfx (personal informaiton exchange)
We can not find a proper document to install certificates and client configuration for iPad,iPhoe and Mac. We need to know what type of certificates needed, what are the certificate formats and how to install etc.
Appreciate if someone has implemented this and share any documents.

Client Identifier and MAC addresses

I am migrating my DHCP services from an old SUN server to an OES Linux server. In the old SUN files, my client identifier and mac addresses have a leading pair. So if my mac address is 00:30:C1:57:44:09, it is entered in the SUN files like this: 01:00:30:C1:57:44:09. My question is, do I need to enter that extra pair in my host records for OES Linux DHCP? If I do or don't, does it matter?
The reason I'm asking is that many of my older printers and even some of the newer ones are not picking up an address from the new DHCP server when the old one expires.

Whilst I've seen this with NetWare-based DHCP the DHCP on OES Linux uses
different objects and is provided by ISC DHCP which does not have this -
my DHCP hosts are configured just with MAC address.
If you examine a dhcpHost object in ConsoleOne - clicking the Other tab
should show the dhcpHWAddress attribute has the value "ethernet
01:23:45:67:89:ab" (where 01:23:45:67:89:ab is MAC address).

Just printers or other types of devices too?
If printers, particularly HP ones, check that they're set to pick up IP
details via DHCP and not BOOTP. Yes should still work but we've seen
problems here.

Outlook and mac mail client attachements freeze, skype freeze

Hi all,
I am working in a company that many users have Macbooks Air and Pro. One specific user with a a Macbook air that has a clean install of Yosemite (not even a week ) started to have problems with the mac mail client attachements. Every time he tried to insert a file the mail client frozen and had to force quit. After a while i observe the same issue on Outlook mail client. At last after a reboot that he did to see if that gonna solve the problem then Skype started to freeze also and had to quit every time. So now, so far none of the above apps work as expected and the Skype doesn't work at all. It has to be noted here that we did the upgrade from Mavericks to Yosemite to solve the Skype issue that he had also for a couple months now and it wasn't resolved from Skype's support team( never answered). So for now we have again the same problem and and with a fresh install of Yosemite i am started to thinking about hardware issues or even broken drivers, code to Yosemite etc. The laptop has an encrypted SSD using Filevault, SEP, Office and Acrobat Reader nothing else.
Any thoughts to solve this issue?

Thank you for your answer, yes i did erase the hard drive and install Yosemite!! After a second call that i made with my client he said that first of all:
The problems of the Outlook and mac mail client attachements freeze started after he install Cisco VPN Anyconnect (I don't think that this has to do anything with the freezing) so he tried to remove this using Appcleaner. After this not only the Outlook and mac mail client attachements freeze problem was remaining but he saw that skype started to freeze also. No matter how many uninstall and install he made to the Skype, Skype continues to freeze. For the mail freeze i advise him to use the verify/repair disk permissions and so far that one solved. The remaining problem is the Skype Freeze so far. I also tried to remove the Skype following this https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12073/how-can-i-completely-uninstall-and-then -reinstall-skype-for-mac-os-x
so to avoid Appcleaner and still the problem persist even with older versions of Skype. I also create another profile account in Yosemite and Skype seemed to played well there. But i would need to solve in his account so to avoid any file transfer. Do you have any idea why that happened? Is it a file permissions problem? Corrupt/missing files in users profile? This one problem had in the past as i wrote in the previous comment and couldn't work at that time.
Any thought on that? What could be wrong?

Socket problem after upgrading to Xcode 4.2 and Mac OS 10.7.2

Everything was working fine until I upgraded to Xcode 4.2 and Mac OS 10.7.2 yesterday.
The server cannot read data written by the client. Attempting to read returns -1 which means end of stream.
Any idea why this has happened?

How to share an airport disc between PC and Mac

I am planning to buy a airport station and connect my existing USB hard disc for sharing the data wirelessly among my PC and Mac book.
My existing USB hard disc was partitioned into two parts to cater for different formats for PC and Mac book. One of the partition is used solely for Mac for backing up by time machine. The other is for sharing.
Please advise if this can function the same by connecting to the airport station for using wirelessly.

If one of the partitions is formatted for NTFS, the AirPort Base Station will NOT be able to read it or share it out to network clients. The AirPort works best with drives formatted for HPS+ and will share these drives out to Macs (using AFP) and PCs (using SMB).
One of the partition is used solely for Mac for backing up by time machine. The other is for sharing.
Unfortunately Apple does not support Time Machine backups to AirPort Disks (USB HDDs attached to the AirPort Extreme). ref: Time Machine doesn't back up to AirPort Disks

Large amount of traffic with 152x mesh and mac-flap

We have just had a Mesh designed by an external company, and when we plugged it in we began have large numbers of mac-flap notification and more than 700mb of traffic sent across our data network.
Our setup includes 2 5508 controllers and 9 152x APs
3 APs (RAP) with their 5.8 antennas are within close proximity on a vertical pole pointing to the other 6 about 1000mtrs away in an arc. With their ethernet ports plugged into the same switch (native vlan 111) as WLC1 (which is LAG'd to two ports)
Vlan 111 for management of Mesh
Vlan 201 for WLAN
DHCP scope on DC on Vlan 100 (helper address from router)
Q, will the closeness of the 5.8 antennas cause any problems with mac-flap or is likely to be the controllers with their LAG connections or something totally different?

the proximity of the antennas shouldn't cause the mac-flap notification, nor should the LAG connection cause this. That's more and indication that the client is flopping between ports on the switch, which generally happens when you are not configured for LAG on the WLC, nor a port-channel on the switch.
the mac address that is being reported in the mac-flap. Is it a client or is it the MAPs?
If it's one of hte MAPs, you may want to check the antennas of the RAPs, since the MAPs sholdl stabliaze once AWPP has run and optimized the path to the network. If they are flapping I would look at possible RF or antenna issues.

How do I install Mac OSX Lion client on the new Mac Mini Server?

If Apple would have had the quad-core processor option for the non-server Mac Mini, I would have just bought that, but I wanted the quad-core. I do not, however, need the server software. I found this article talking about how to disable the server functionality, but this article highlights how little that method actually does.
Ultimately, I just want to do a clean reinstall like I used to do prior to Lion. This process used to be so easy. Create a disk image of the desired operating system on USB, option boot, and you're done. Now it appears that Apple purposely impedes this process, as every time I boot from the USB I created with Mac OSX Lion client, I get a circle with a line through it. Is there any way around this restriction? Editing firmware, editing .plist files, etc?
Very disappointed that Apple is limiting what used to be such a simple process on Hardware and Software that I paid for but now can't get the functionality I want.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but what I don't think you can do what you're asking for. Closest thing is going to be disabling the server components like it says in the article, but again, that doesn't do much.

Mac OS X Client Import Error

I am attempting to install and use Cisco VPN Client 4.9.01 for Mac OS X under 10.5.1 (Leopard)
The install seems to go fine, along with application launch. The issue is that importing a PCF file doesn't work. Here are the steps.
1. Select Import.
2. Navigate to PCF file, select.
3. Message "File blah blah foo bar imported successfully."
4. No connection entry appears in the list.
5. Looked in folder, profile is indeed there.
6. Can use client through command line, utilizing correct profile.

You should be able to import a pcf file from a Windows client to your MAC OS X client and copy it to the /etc/CiscoSystemsVPNClient/Profiles directory. There are several features on the Windows client which are not available on the MAC Client. Any keywords within the pcf file related to these features should be ignored by the MAC OSX client.
