SGE2000 LACP/LAG and vlans

Hi, Have recently purchased an SGE2000 and have a number of ports we wish to connect to some xen servers via 803.2ad (LACP). However the software is telling me we cannot create a LAG with vlans. Is this some sort of bug? Is there a firmware release to fix this? We have a number of other branded switches which do this just fine. I would rather not have to sell this switch, as I do like linksys switches.

This is not a limitation from what I can tell. You need to remove the ports from all vlans except management. Then set up the ports to be part of your lag group. The lag can then be assigned to the desired vlan.
I haven't been able to fully test this due to some other quirks I haven't figured out for this switch yet, but procedurally, the switch does not complain when you configure it in this manner.

  • C2504 with LAG and VLAN tagging

Having issues with setting up LAG on a Cisco 2504 WLC and implementing VLAN tagging on the different SSID´s.
Without LAG I had this up and running by using dynamic interfaces and assigning the different SSID´s to a perticular interface which was then assigned a specific VLAN.
However once I enabled LAG on the 2504, the dynamic interfaces became disabled and im unable to find documentation on how to configure VLAN tagging on SSID´s when using LAG.
    Relevant info:
    Cisco 2504 WLC running 7.4.100.0 (FUS 1.8.0)
    Cisco 2602 APs

    WLC output:

    LAG Enabled
So basically what im trying to achieve is to implement LAG, use 2 SSID´s which are tagged in VLAN 300 and 400 respectively and keep management traffic untagged.

    Hi Scott,
Yes I did.. But it seems that after deselecting the "Interface/Interface Group(G)" under the SSID´s and then selecting the dynamic interface again that the problem is resolved.

  • Configure 5500s w/ LAG and HA

Working on a pre-deployment setup for a pair of 5508's that are to be used in HA.  Network information should be as follows:
    WLC_1: 192.168.100.200 (HA primary)
      Redundancy Managent 192.168.100.202
    WLC_2: 192.168.100.201 (HA secondary)
      Redundancy Managent 192.168.100.203
These are both connected to a 3750X w/ the following port layout
    WLC_1 Port 1 --> Gi 1/0/1
          Port 2 --> Gi 1/0/2
          RP --> Gi 1/0/5
    WLC_2 Port 1 --> Gi 1/0/11
          Port 2 --> Gi 1/0/12
          RP --> Gi 1/0/6
I've gone through the wizard choosing NO for LAG and for HA, with the expectation that I would do this after(I also tried it choosing both in the wizard, and then one or the other).  When doing so, I'm able to get to both the primary and secondary (both ports temporarily connected to non-lag ports on the switch) from a machine on the same lan (there is currently no gateway as this is on my desk for setup).
When I issue a "config lag enable", save the config, reboot the controller and move the cables to the correct ports on the switch I'm unable to get any communication to the controller.  Below is what I have for the interface config on the controller:
    config interface address management 192.168.100.200 255.255.254.0 192.168.100.20
config interface dhcp management primary 192.168.100.20
The switch config is as follows:
    interface Port-channel1
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk native vlan 100
    switchport mode trunk
    interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk native vlan 100
    switchport mode trunk
    channel-group 1 mode on
    interface GigabitEthernet1/0/2
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk native vlan 100
    switchport mode trunk
    channel-group 1 mode on
I've used this in the past on 2504's and 4400's so not sure if i missed a 5500 specific item.  I didn't disable any ports and verified that all ports are enabled on the controller.  So I reverted the changes and tried to enable HA using the following config:
    WLC_1
    config redundany unit primary
    config interfac address redundancy-management 192.168.100.202 peer-redundancy-management 192.168.100.203
    config redundancy mode sso
    WLC_2
    config redundancy unit secondary
    config interface address redundancy-management 192.168.100.203 peer-redundancy-management 192.168.100.202
    config redundancy mode sso
After the reboot I'm unable to ping either controller using the management address.  The controllers can ping each other on their 169.254.x.x address, but I'm unable to access them from the LAN.

    Hi Scott,
Yes I did.. But it seems that after deselecting the "Interface/Interface Group(G)" under the SSID´s and then selecting the dynamic interface again that the problem is resolved.

  • Two SGE2000 in Stack and MSTP

    Hi,
I have Blade Server and Blade Switches from Fujitsu-Siemens. Two Blade Switches are configured with port channel/trunk (2 ports on everyswitch in port-channel/trunk and then interconnected) and MSTP. They are functioning very well. Few days ago I got two SGE2000 switches and connected them in stack config and would like to make such configuration like in this picture : http://www.cisco.com/image/gif/paws/10556/16d.gif
Lets say "B" and "C" switches are mine blade switches. "A" would be mine SGE2000 stack. If I connect all of them this way and configure MSTP on every of them this does not work. As if the switches do not support MSTP and network traffic overall just "dies" as if there were some kind of broadcast storm. Am I missing something ? What should I do ?
    Best regards

    Hello Sir,
I believe you might do best by calling our support.  Here is a link:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/support/tsd_cisco_small_business_support_center_contacts.html
If you want to check into this a little more, there here are a few thoughts.
The switches do support MSTP.  Have you checked for which switch is the root, do all switches agree?  You also need to make sure all the configs are the same, native VLANs and allowed VLANs, instance IDs and vlan ranges, etc ...
A "broadcast storm" sounds like you have introduced a loop into the network, all the lights come on, and your network looks like a Christmas Tree. Is this what is happening?  If the traffic simply dies, then this might indicate a port mismatch of some kind and the port is getting shut down by either system.  Having ports shut down for mismatches is fairly common.
I would suggest placing these switches into your environment one at a time, and then watching to see which switch introduces the problem.   Check the configs and make sure everything is compatible.
I would also suggest a call to our support center, as they might be able to answer your questions while you are adding the switches.

  • Update will not connect to server, continuous lagging and questionable security?

I actually have a few questions. I recently switched to Firefox from IE9 for a few reasons. My IT Security professor mentioned Firefox was safer than most and an online article suggested it was faster than IE9. So I decided to give it a chance; the previous version was too slow and wouldn't play any video so I downloaded version 4. It worked great for about 3-4 weeks and now I'm having the following problems:
    1. Every time Firefox says it has to update, the window pops up to connect to server. All it does is continuously try to connect (nothing happens). Now, one time I left it open all day to see if it would and that night a window popped up and said to restart Firefox to complete. I did what it said and it just started trying to connect to the server again.
    2. When I first downloaded Firefox 4 it was fast and almost never lagged. Now, it seems as if every page I try to connect to lags. In fact, sometimes I have to close it down and restart. It's actually normal pages I open everyday like school, mail, weather and typical Yahoo pages. Nothing has changed on my end, so I'm unaware of why this is happening now.
    3. I'm really concerned with the security issues. I still have IE9; recently, because of lagging and security issues, I've tried switching between the two to check cleaning details. I'll run my cleaner after a day of IE9 and do the same for Firefox (same typical searches). With IE9, there's not much to clean, maybe 17-18 mb's at most (cookies, typical stuff) and never had a virus. The CPU monitor also stays calm. On Firefox, I get 160-210 mb's every time. The CPU gauge fluctuates constantly and I've had three viruses.
I'm not sure if it's because the updates will not take or what, but I've had to switch back to IE9 because of these problems. I really enjoyed Firefox (when it worked); the interface was easy to navigate and use and in the beginning was very fast. I miss it! But because of these issues, I have to take a break until they are fixed. I can't afford to have my computer crash. Please help!

If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • How do I add a Subnet and vlan with a catalyst 3550 and RV120

    Hello Friends.
I have a scenario that i'm hoping i can get some help with. I'll be as detailed and descriptive as i can.
This is for a business with 100 employees nodes and 100 camera nodes all needing IP internet through private addressing and public gateway.
I have a business class gateway with a private range of 12 public addresses. Ther modem does nothing but act as a gateway since i have disabled the firewall and DHCP.
In place of the firewall and DCHP from the modem i have installed a RV120 Firewall with VPN. When installing i replicated the IP scheme of the modem as to not disturb and distrup the devices assigned addresses from that scheme from the modem. I did this because the owner could not have any down time or any disruption to the business operations.
The RV120 now acts as firewall , DHCP , and VPN. I'll address the subnet first. I's using 10.0.0.0/24 subnet range.
DHCP is assigning 10.1.10.50 - 10.1.10.100 the rest are static and i plan to use static DHCP with the IP and MAC assigned to each static DHCP address.
There are 100 cameras with static IP addresses in the range of 10.1.10.11 - 10.1.10.40, and 10.1.0.1.101 - 10.1.10.170.
VPN uses PPTP assigned address 10.1.10.6 - 10.1.10.10.
There are no layer 3 switches that i know of. Just a layer two that is the primary swith and ports have run out, and various out of the box switches and wireless access points connected to the primary switch.
I want to implement subnets into the network and VLANS as well on a new Layer 3 switche from cisco. Thinking 3550 from Cisco or one of the older layer 2 switches with layer three capabilities.
I also want to introduce a 192.168.0.0/24 IP range for the existing wireless network and segment the traffic from the rest of the traffic on other ranges.
I want to replace the 10.0.0.0/24 DHCP alltogether and the static addresses for end user nodes on the same network, but keep that range just for camera nodes segmented.
I want to implement a NEW end user IP range and VLAN for employee/guest networks using the 172.16.0.0/24 range.
Iv'e thought of replacing all the wireless nodes with RV120's and use VLAN. Dont know if that strategy works. Need to think it through.
I want the 192.168.0.0/24 IP range comunicate to with the 172.16.0.0/24 and possibly the 10.0.0.0/24 range.
Any advice on how to do this?
As a side note the next step after this is to install a server domain controller as all the computers are all stand alones in their own workgroups. It's a simultaneous project that will introdue a DCHP, WINS, DNS server.

Hi Omid, it sounds like you're proposing the 3550 switch but you're not decided yet. The 3550 switch is a pretty old device and needs enhanced multilayer image. It may be more prudent to use a more current switch such as small business SG300 or SG500 as the feature set is more rich and it supports around 480 LAN connections.
To answer the inquiry, the RV120W, when you create a VLAN it will automatically create an IP interface. From this you may assign subnet as you like along with 'enable or disable' for inter vlan routing. Since the RV120W has this feature, a layer 3 switch is not required unless you are looking to keep the routing load smaller by routing locally with the switch.
With Catalyst or a small business switch you would need to create a VLAN. After creating the VLAN, on a Catalyst you can simply issue "switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q" on the desired interface and all VLAN will passage without issue. For a port connecting a user "switchport mode access" "native vlan xx" This will assign the port as untag member of the desired VLAN.
If using a small business switch, it is slightly different, you still create the VLAN but the command issue is a bit different  "switchport trunk allowed vlan add xx" for the link to the router, where xx = the VLAN ID to tag to the router. For access client it remains the same as Catalyst.

  • 10.8.3 rendered my MBP to lag and freeze (and other issues)

Okay. I have a Macbook Pro 9,1 (non-retina, Mid-2012).  After installing 10.8.3 through App Store, my computer begins to lag, and it would completely freeze in about 2 hours or so.  It starts with one application 'not responding' and it would spread to other applications.  When I try to Force Quit, that Force Quit window would freeze as well.  None of my keyboard, track pad etc would work. I had to force shut down by holding the Power button.
    I have done the following:
    Restart
Restart with 'Reopen Windows when logging back in' off
    SMC Reset
    PRAM Reset
    Hardware Test
    Disk Permission Repair
    Repair Disk
    Reinstall OS
    Reinstall using COMBO Update
fsck -fy in Single User Mode
I also checked the ~Library/Logs/Diagnostic Log and Uninstalled (with official uninstaller) EyeConnect (who crashed in the background for about 8 times during my 24hrs use of 10.8.3.)
While going through that list, I found issues in kernel_task taking up a lot of RAM (1+ GB in normal mode) (~400 GB in safe mode). The free RAM would also be miniscule just before the multiple freezes I had.
Booting through Safe mode, after about 2 minutes or so after boot, My RAM looks like this:
(No Free Space, Wired taking up 6GB...) The Animation would be very choppy  and I would be using Nvidia Graphics Card (GT-650M) instead of Intel Graphics 4000, when nothing graphic intensive is up.  Some Post floating in the Support Communities also mentioned how the VRAM for Intel Graphics 4000 shrunk from 512MB to 384MB. I think I have the same problem as well.
I've been to Apple Store/Genius Bar Twice: They basically said I should wipe the computer and hope for the best.  They also checked my Hardware, and it seems alright.
I thought of rolling back to 10.8.2 through Time Machine, but for some reasons, my HDD (through Thunderbolt) would not mount when booted from the recovery partition. It's there in Disk Utility, just won't mount. When accessing the HDD through USB 3.0, my most recent back-ups are not present, with the most recent update from March 2nd.  (March 3rd ~ March 18th Missing.)This shouldn't be the case, as I back up multiple times every day. I am also able to view the recent dates through Time Machine ('Enter Time Machine' from the menu bar).
I think the only thing left I could do would be Rolling back to March 2nd or Wiping my computer to factory settings.  Both I'm quite reluctant to do so, for obvious reasons.
Hypothesis on the issue: I think it's the RAM management gone wrong, causing the computer to lag+freeze so much.  I predict the wipe won't help much.  But we won't know what will happen unless we do it, I guess...
Did I mention about the sleep problems I had before 10.8.3? I'll skip those since it's not fatal, but they're not resolved in 10.8.3 as well. I installed 10.8.3 hoping to solve those problems, only to get even more problems Help Please? Thanks!

  • Logical network to physical network mapping (subnets and VLANS) in SCVMM 2012 R2

In much of the blogs, documentation and literature on VMM, there are examples of deploying multiple logical networks onto one physical network i.e. Cluster (logical) + Storage (logical) + Backup (logical) + Live Migration (logical) + Management
(logical) on top of Datacenter (physical).
Does this mean it would be possible to have one (physical) flat VLAN-less network with one subnet and then have all those logical networks (with subnets and VLANs) on top of it? Even with a simple unmanaged L2 switch that doesn't support VLANs itself?
If not, just how do you map multiple logical networks to just one physical network? How does that work in practice? Is a L3 switch needed to route traffic between logical networks for example?

Hi. VMM Networking may be overwhelmed for the most, at first. But you really need to understand the modeling here and how things are related to each other. Especially if using NIC teaming in WS 2012 (and R2) together with this mix.
I suggest that you read the following whitepaper where we explain how to setup networking in VMM (also to support network virtualization, but that is absolutely not mandatory): http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Hybrid-Cloud-with-NVGRE-aa6e1e9a

  • Mac book air connects to internet w/ lag and drops

my macbook air has been working for the past year, but recently my internet has been lagging and disconnecting by itself every 30 seconds. all my computers connect through a router and modem but only the mac air is having internet problems. it keeps saying "the page cannot be displayed" even though airport shows that it is connected to the internet. (note: the mac air works flawlessly when I connect to other wifi locations outside of home)
    router: netgear
    all the things I've tried.
    -editing keychain settings
-deleting my network and creating a new one
    -resetting modem and router
    -resetting airport
    -changing dns and ip settings
    -resetting the mac air
    -turning off bluetooth
    -changing browser settings
    -smashing the router around
    nothing has worked....
p.s. there was one day where I changed my router and it worked for one day, the next day it didn't work again.

What are your wireless encryption settings? WEP, WPA2? Have you tried it with no encryption? Was it faster? Sometimes if you have rearranged the room or moved the router, interference can start. I also would download istumbler and see if you have neighbors using the same or adjacent channels. It will also show you the noise on your Netgear. Maybe this will bring some ideas to you:

  • Skype increasing lagging and using too much CPU

    Hello,
Since Oct 15 which is approximately when I was upgraded to version 6.9(517) I have noticed that Skype has been lagging very badly. It starts as very tiny lags and eventually over an hour or two the lagging increases to 4-6 second lags. The person on the other end will be talking and in mid sentence Skype will stop (freeze up), the timer on the call will halt, and in 4-6 seconds I will hear the other half of the sentence. While all this was happening I noticed while I was running the "top" command on the command line that my CPU usage would spike anywhere from 60% to more than 100% on Skype. The lagging and freezing would happen approximately every 20 seconds or so. I also noticed when trying to hang up the call and having the other person call me back that even the "ring tone" that is played when a call comes in was lagged and froze in the middle only to resume a few seconds later. It seems the over usage of the CPU might be the culprit but I'm not sure. I've tried everything from resetting the router, reinstalling Skype, clearing out my User/Application/Preferences/com.skype.skype.plist and also the shared.xml in the Application Support/Skype directory. Oh, also once the lagging gets very bad I am unable to close Skype without force closing it. Anyone have any suggestions? This only started a few days ago and prior to that I have zero issues with Skype on a Mac.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I've been spreading the word since my friend found out a solution!
A friend of mine in IT googled and it so far it seems to have eliminated the constant lag I've been getting every 20-30 seconds.
    Here it goes:
    Close skype completely.
Type in your spotlight: Terminal (black box looking icon)
Press enter then type in exactly:
    cd ~/Library/caches/
Press enter again and then type in exactly:
    sudo rm -d -v -r com.skype.skype
WARNING: It will give you a notice of caution that it could delete files, stay calm, all is good (I panicked too), then it'll ask you to type in your password (this refers to your actual mac password: the one you use to make changes to programs, give permission for installations, etc.)
Following the entering of your password there will be a giant wall of text, tons of code that you will not understand. Wait till this finishes (stops) and close terminal. Then proceed to re-open skype. Problem should be fixed! Ta-da!
Be sure to check activity monitor to compare your now normal % CPU levels to the abnormal ones that you were having before !
Goodluck and please let me know if it helps!

  • WLC2112 with Guest / Web-Auth and vlan

    Hi
I'm trying to configure my WLC with guest SSID and vlan 10.
The security is only set to Web-auth, and it is all working if the guest network is set to nativ vlan (1) But it seems that the http(s)://1.1.1.1/login.html is not reacheble from the guest SSID/VLAN??
    Please help.
    Management IP Address 192.168.14.252
    Software Version 6.0.182.0
    Emergency Image Version
I have tried with ver. 5.2 also -

I think that 1.1.1.1 is only reachable from a wireless client during webauth. They should not be able to reach that address once they have passed through the web auth page.
Don't know if that helps, or not.

  • Firefox lags and freezes several times in an hour - How to fix?

I've read up on the forums and nothing seems to be describing what I'm experiencing with Firefox.
The last 3-4 days I've had several instances where Firefox lags or completely freezes up when switching between tabs. It will still somewhat work but it's ridiculously slow.
For example, it WILL eventually go to that tab, but it will take a minute, and then nothing on the page will work for a minute, so on and so on. Sometimes a black screen will appear where the text should be. Sometimes it stays black, sometimes the page eventually loads. It was only one website so I thought maybe that page was having issues until today when it started happening on several other websites.
It's happening quite often and it's driving me crazy. I only had an error message once, early on when this started. Since then it just seems to lag and freeze, lag and freeze, over and over without giving me an error message until I get fed up and close out of it. Upon start up again, it works fine for a bit.
I don't use any toolbars. I updated Windows and my drivers. Computer has been restarted several times since this started.
    I'd appreciate any suggestions!

Hello EMA1, try to run [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode firefox in safe mode], works ?
If firefox in safe mode has the same behavior then, try to boot your win 8 computer in [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2809468/en-us Windows Safe Mode with network support] and check firefox again. Any luck ?
    thank you

  • Graphics, caching and performance - how to address a lag and stutter?

I'm in the middle of developing an interactive story that I'm intending to cross deploy to a number of tablets - starting with the iPad. Instead of a classic page-turn style story, this is told on a long paper scroll, with the user panning left and right (and some times up and down) along the story.
All graphics are rendered as flat 3D panes using native 3D in Flash and move in a parallax fashion, kind of giving the effect of watching theatre flats change as you read. As such, I understand that they're already being rendered as bitmaps and the app is taking advantage of GPU rendering on the iPad. None of the graphics have their visibility set to false, and all of them are added to the stage (even if they're a good few pixels off to the right at the beginning) on the first frame. They're also all on the root stage and have no nested display objects.
The issue I'm finding is a noticeable lag and jump when new objects are about to come in from off screen for the first time. After they've been seen, the application runs quite smoothly. Obviously poor performance on first opening is a real problem though. I feel that this is probably a caching issue, but can't work out how to go about addressing it. Any ideas?
    A few further notes:
All graphics in the story share a class that includes cacheAsBitmap and cacheAsBitmapMatrix to ensure that the GPU acceleration can be taken advantage of
Am compiling to AIR 2.5 and using the packager directly from Flash CS5. Have tried 2.6 and it's actually noticeably slower
Once an image has been rendered on the screen it tends not to cause a lag the next time it's displayed. I tried having them all on the front at the beginning and then clearing them to try to force them into the cache - didn't seem to make a difference
All graphics are separate PNG files at the moment. I haven't tried pushing them all into a sprite sheet or three yet, think that might help?
Thanks in advance for any help you guys can suggest.
    Tom

    Hi Tom,
This is likely because the GPU has limited memory, and the biggest bottleneck with a GPU is copying data to it.
From the sounds of it the delay occurs when this happens (i.e. images just about to come on to the screen are loaded in to the GPU).
You could solve it (just thinking aloud here) by placing an instance of each image that is about to come on to the stage on the stage but under another image (e.g. under the backgroudn image) to force it to preload into the GPU.  Instead of placing them hidden on the stage, creating an instance in actionscript and storing it in a vector may also work?  Though perhaps these are not cached until they are added to the display list.
However, it may be likely that the number of images you have may exceed the capacity of the GPU anyway and this might not help.  I have also seen mentioned that the new Flash Player (iOS) is smart enough to recognise when images are fully hidden (i.e. behind a background image) and not cache or display them.
So if you had the following pages (mostly vertical but some horizontal):
    ABC
    D
    EF
    G
    H
You would perhaps do something like:
    ABC (cache: D)
    D (cache: ABC EF)
    EF (cache: D G)
    G (cache EF H)
    H (cache: G)
Sorry I don't have any definitive answers, just something to try.
    hope it helps!
    Peter
