SGEN Problem

Hi,
I have executed SGEN after installing a fresh system. However, if I execute any TCODE, still system compiles first and then executes the tcode!
In addition to that, I believe once we execute any TCODE for the first time (without executing SGEN), system first compiles it and then executes the tcode. If we execute the same tcode second time, system simply executes the tcode bcoz it is already compiled.
However, in this scenario, the number of times you execute a tcode, that number of times system first compiles the same tcode and then executes!
Your inputs are welcomed.

faisal

Hi Faisal,
To start ABAP/screen generation for the objects in the installed add-on, Please proceed as follows:
       1.      Call the SAP Load Generator (transaction SGEN).
       2.      Choose Generate All Objects of Selected Software Components and then Continue.
       3.      Select the software component of the installed add-on.
You can thus ensure that all objects in the installed add-on are generated again.
Please also click  [SGEN(SAP Load Generator)|http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/0e/f75f3cf4dff476e10000000a114084/frameset.htm] for more information.

  • SGEN problem in ECC6.0

    Hi gurus,
Need help here. I have a very weird problem. My DEV server cant perform Sgen, the server is running ECC 6.0 on Windows2003 32bit/Oracle 10g on a dual-core CPU with 4GB RAM. What happens is, halfway thru the SGEN generation job, the entire OS will freeze/hang.
Check the logs in eventviewer but there is totally no error message. added /3GB and /PAE in windows boot.ini , tweak rz12 to make it run on single processor. H/W vendor checked and say that the h/w is running fine. Updated kernel, components, bla bla....
However my PRD system with 8gb,2P DC proc is running fine with sgen. please advice , out of idea. thanks.

  • SGEN and Patch Problem

    Hi,
Our ECC 5.0 Development system was last updated in january with stack 13 and know we are planning to upgrade it to stack 16.
The problem is that there are some objects left to be generated after the last stack upgrade. Know when I just hit SGEN a message is displayed "There are 75.299 objects from an earlier selection to be generated".
What should I do here start importing the new patches and then execute SGEN OR first finish with the remaining objects to be generated, then apply new stack and then again SGEN.
Also, should I release all the requests before generating the pending objects in SGEN. and what should be status of requests before appling patches should all the requests be released or if some are left we can continue with appling patch and SGEN.
    Thanks
    Parvez Khan

    Dear Parvez ,
<b>However can I proceed with the generation of pending objects in SGEN without checking for locked objects. Will the scheduled SGEN processing stop and get cancelled in case some objects are locked</b> -> Yes you can continue the SGEN
<b>Also there are some requests created long back which were not released can I delete those as it were created by the ABAPERS .</b> -> It is pure depend on Business requirement , still you can discuss the same with Functional / ABAPer .

  • Disp+work.EXE has encountered a problem and needs to close ...

    Hi all
I've installed NW 7.02 ABAP trial on a VM running with XP Pro english version, SP3.
Via SICF also all services have been activated.
When calling SE80 -> Web Dynpro -> (e.g.) WDR_TEST_MISC (or any other WD apllication) -> opening: Component Interface -> double click on INTERFACECONTROLLER -> selecting: CONTEXT -> and then select the 'Properties' tab ==>> the following ERROR occurs:
=> disp+work.EXE has encountered a problem and needs to close ... (seems to me to be a MicroSoft popup)
After closing this popup, another one appears, telling me: 'SAP GUI for Windows 720 - NSP: Sap Systemnachricht; Work process restarted; session terminated'.
That's the end of this session :-((
This error occurs only when I try to call the properties of the Interface context!
    Regards, Stefan

    Hi Stefan,
I had this problem yesterday while using SGEN after a fresh install of NW 7.02 (64 bit).
I forgot to switch of the DB Log and it ran full (I think in earlier versions of the preview installtion MaxDB Log was set to overwrite mode by default which isn't the case with this installation). Anyway, the log ran full, disp+work died and after that it was imposible to restart the system because the dispatcher died shortly after it had started.
Maybe you check your DB with the database manager.
    Good Luck

    What is sgen@??
So the hardware sees the library but the os dos not compute&hellip; any idea how to get the drivers working and something under /dev/rmt?

You could experiment with giving OBP the absolute path to that USB device, but I doubt you'll be successful. The Sunfire 280R (same hardware as the Sunblade 1000, Sunblade 2000, and Netra 20) design expected USB to be only for keyboard and mouse, not for any storage devices. If booting ever works manually from a USB stick, then you could create a custom alias for the device.
Try an experiment by using a CD or DVD of an older release of Solaris 10 instead of the current release.
The earlier ones need fewer hardware resources. I also recall a few forum posts that seem to suggest the bootblock structure on the CD's and DVD's of those earlier releases was more compatible with older hardware.
You might also need to get yourself a copy of the OBP 4.x Command Reference Manual, document No. 816-1177

  • T.codes compiling even after SGEN

    Hi All,
We have recently upgraded to ERP6 from  R/3 4.7. As part of the post upgrade activities we have also run the SGEN which took 10 hours to complete. But the strange thing we noticed that there are number of transaction codes still compiling when using first time.
I would apprecite if some one can tell the solution and reason.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Harish

    Hi Sunny,
Thanks very much for  the useful SAP notes but the problem which described in that note had been rectified in BASIS(700) patch 17 and we are on  basis patch 21. Other thing we found that  we had selected "Generate all objects of selected software components" after upgrade. I would appricate if you could suggest any fixes regarding this.
    Thanks,
    Harish

  • Dbif_repo_sql_error after executing "sgen"

    Hi
Tcode "sgen" was canceled after execution and now I have the error: dbif_repo_sql_error and cannot access some transactions.
Some people advised to extend the tablespaces shown in st22. I don't know how to do that and if this is really the problem.
    Thanks
    Go:khan

    Hi,
Extending the table space is usually a BASIS task & it doesn't hurt to extend too..

  • Sale orders lost after SGEN ????

    Hi there,
I am just wondering about something.
After we installed support packages, users created sales order without to get any error message and I we could only see an error message via SM21 which says:
    Run-time error "LOAD_TYPEPOOL_VERSION_MISMATCH" occurred.
So after we regenerated the ABAP report: RSM13000 after that everythings seems to be ok.
When now the user try to get those sales order we do not find them.
Now the question is: When we try to find the order numbers which the users created before the regeneration we find nothing.
What about this numbers? Did they have not been created at all or what hapened?
As I know the generation of any ABAP report  via SGEN or (RSM13000) will not delete anything.
    Thanks in advance
    Hanseatik

    Hi,
the problem now is not the error message. The problem is: what about the sales order which should be lost after we regenerate the program RSM13000?

  • SGEN through all components does not help preventing compiling

    Hello
We run  SGEN through all components after applying basis support packages.
However the system is still compiling. What could be the reason? Did anyone encounter tha same problem? How to solve this?

    Hi Tina,
if you haven't done yet please have alook at SAP Note 481548.
    Hope this helps.

    Regards,
    Valee

Thanks for your swift response. Here is my small script.
    var doc = app.ActiveDoc();
    var tbl = doc.FirstTblInDoc;
    while (tbl.ObjectValid()){
        $.writeln ("Loop through doc tables: " + tbl.ObjectValid());
        tbl.NextTblInDoc
    My another small script is:
    alert("Hi Valee");
I am trying to run it from my FrameMaker 10 (Version: 10.0.1.402). Also I have updated the latest patch versions.

  • Problem in tablespaces size

    hi gurus
i installed ecc 6.0 with oracle 10g after installation i checked tablespaces but these are like this
    psapsr3 -80%(used)
    psapsr3700-99%(used)
    system-97%(used)
    sysaux-93%
but according to threshold values max allowed upto 80% why it is showing above 95%
what can i do for this. is there any problem in feature for this tablespaces.

    vasu,
Have you run SGEN after installation? as it compile and regenerates all the screens & programs and occupies the most of the tablespace size.
Your tablespace size is normal, just add datafiles.
    Regards,
    Rajesh

  • Is SGEN execution required after a kernel upgrade

    Hi experts,
I have done a system kernel upgrade from 700 to 701 version after which all the transactions start compiling as i run them.
I would like to know if SGEN is to be run after a kernel upgrade and if so what option to select as SGEN typically takes long time.
If i start SGEN, and if it takes long can i stop it in between with the intention of not continuing it? would there be a problem?
    Please suggest.
    Regards,
    Sandeep.

    Hi,
We are going EHP1 so we upgraded the kernel to 701 level. After that , all transactions are getting compiled so we started SGEN.
I was also of the impression that SGEN need not run after kernel. however, had no other option as transaction compiling was taking  long time.
    Please check this link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm32/helpdata/en/b1/52583c65399965e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
    In prerequisites its written :
Applying kernel patches may lead to the invalidation of all loads.
    Kindly suggest.
I have stopped the SGEN now.
Due to some constraints, we have to delay the patch upgrade to EHP1. I would like to know whether i can put the old kernel 700 back? and would the SGEN run on kernel 701 would have any problem on that. ?
    Is downgrade of kernel possible?
    Regards,
    Sandeep

  • SAP load generator SGEN

    Hi experts,
We have a new SAP ECC 6.0 installation; MSSQL, Windows. When transaction SGEN is executed and started; progress shows  0% complete after 24 hours, which does not appear normal to me. And job status stays active.
What could be the problem here? Any ideas?
    Regards,
    AK

    Hi ,
First refreshing the Screen first  of  SGEN ... Check wheather your Background WP's are free for the process.
Check the Log of active Load job this might give you any Click.
At last Check your $tmp tablespace wheather it has space or not ...
If these checks cant find anything wrong in your system then i will suggest try cancle the current job and start again.
You can also check for loading the perticlar s/w component (Only One ) first and see the result ...
    Hope this helps..

  • Sgen driver device files

We have developed a SCSI Library on different plattforms - one is SUN Sparc - for diagnostic tools.
For accessing the devices we are using sgen and ioctl calls. Herefore the sgen driver and his config-file sgen.conf will be used to create the device files under /dev/scsi/.
Is there a API to create the device files within a C++ program, so the driver and our tool can dynamically access new attached devices. The problem is, that the user has to configure the list of devices first and than start and stop the sgen driver outside the program.
We'd like to move this functionality within our library for improvements. In addition the user has to know which ID-range and type of devices he wants to use for it and define those in the config file "sgen.conf".
In other words, we're looking for API calls which :
1.) Check if the driver is installed
2.) Create new device files (if necessary)
    Any information is appreciated
    Thanks in advance
    Tim

sgen driver may not be loaded because nothing has accessed the device, I can't think of anything but modinfo to check, or maybe use elf on /dev/ksyms to look for sgen specific symbols?
update_drv is the way to tell a driver that its driver.conf file has changed this came in in solaris 9 , you could have an external daemon that invokes update_drv apon being poked.
sgen.conf has to be administered as it was perceived that having multiple device controlling something is prone to disaster so the user has to control what target device managed by which controller/tgt/lun
certainly cfgadm might be of use to you and it has scsi specific command but how you access those from libcfgadm is an exercise in man page reading and looking at docs.sun.com;-)
