#sh ip ospf route Command

Hi All,
Kinldy let me know that #sh ip ospf route, which IOS Version support this command...
Regards
Indrapal

Hi Indrapal,
as far as I remember, 'show ip ospf route' is the unsupported version of the 'show ip ospf rib' command, which was introduced with the (Link:) OSPFv2 Local RIB feature in 12.4(15)T.
Perhaps somebody could confirm.

  • XR OS OSPF network command

In IOS, to configure OSPF you had to issue
    network 10.0.0.0 0.63.255.255 area 0
command under router ospf.  I don't see this option in XR OS.  What is the equivalent?
This is the config on ASR9K
    router ospf 10
    log adjacency changes detail
    router-id 192.168.254.13
    auto-cost reference-bandwidth 10000
    area 0.0.0.0

      interface TenGigE0/0/1/1
      interface TenGigE0/0/1/2

    Hi,
In IOS, OSPF would be enabled on the interfaces whose IP addresses matched the network command, but in XR we configure OSPF differently. Entering the interface name under the area command would enable OSPF on the interface (OSPF routing will occur only when an IP address is configured on the interface).
Looking at your configuration, I believe that OSPF should be enabled for the 3 Tengig interfaces. Take a look at "show ospf interface" to confirm this.
Also, here is more information on configuring OSPF in XR,

  • OSPF route summarization

"OSPF support route summarization" Is that mean I can skipped the wildcard mask potion of the "Router(config-router)#network n.n.n.n m.m.m.m area number" command and the router will use default classful mask? If not, when will route summarization come in to play (as we always need specify wildcard mask)? Will OSPF route summarization enabled by default like EIGRP?

    Hi,
You can only summarise inter-area routes at the ABR. External routes can only be summarised at the originating ASBR.

  • OSPF Router ID set w/ CSM 4.2

I'm testing CSM 4.2 in my lab with the 90-day evaluation license.
I've got a few routers setup with OSPF and everything seems to be working great.  However, I can't find anywhere to manually set the OSPF Router ID.  Is this even possible with CSM.  Am I looking in the wrong place?
    Thanks,
    Bruno Wollmann

You can set the process-ID but not (I don't believe) router-id using CSM.
I assume they are thinking you'd just use the default router-ID that OSPF would choose (highest IP address on any active interface). A more general purpose network management tool like LMS would allow one to send any commands desired to the managed routers.

  • How do I correct the problem of two routers with the same OSPF Router IDs?

How do I correct the problem of two routers with the same OSPF Router IDs?

    Hi,
The answer above is correct, though you don't really need to reload, you can just simply clear the OSPF process with the following command:
    clear ip ospf 1 process

  • OSPF route expired? VRRP state changed....

    Hello,
I have a problem. The VRRP state changed every 29 hours, see below for the loggin. I defined a tracking command to check if there is a route.
Tracking command: track 2 ip route 10.240.4.0 255.255.254.0 reachability
This route is learned bij OSPF:
    O        10.240.4.0/23 [110/3] via 10.31.171.1, 06:08:28, GigabitEthernet0/0
What can be the problem? Are OSPF routes expired after 29 hours? Is the tracking mechanisme not the right one?

Well the VRRP with tracking is doing what it is supposed to do, that is, it changes state when it loses that particular route so I see no issues there. OSPF should refresh its LSA every 30 minutes which could be the issue you are facing. Check out the link below:

  • Adding VLAN to Po-Group and OSPF routing what is the correct way?

    Hi Community,
I recently had an issue that brought down the links between a couple of switches...luckily this was done after hours and I did not save the config so was able to revert back.
The basic scope of my project is:
We are running out of IP's on the 192.168.1.0/24 sunbnet so wanted to create a seperate VLAN/Subnet  for physical workstations.
    He is what I orginally did;
    1) On our core switch; (Switch1)
         Create the VLAN,
         VLAN interface,
         DHCP pool,
         excluded address'
    2) On second  switch (Switch 2)
         Add VLAN name, no interface
    3) I then updated the PO-group on Switch1 with new VLAN  (this brought down the link before I was able to finish my config)
Therefore I was not able to complete the following:
add vlan to spanning-tree or updated OSPF routing
Here is what I assume to be the correct order?
    1) On Core Switch (Switch 1)
         Create VLAN
         VLAN interface
         DHCP pool
         excluded address'
         add vlan to spanning-tree
add vlan (passive interface) and sunbet to OSPF routing
    2) On Switch 2
Add vlan name/interfaces with no ip
    3) Update PO groups after the above has been configured
Add new VLAN to Po-Group on Switch 2
Add new VLAN to Po-Group on Switch 1
    4) Last steps
Updated specific access ports with new VLAN and test
upon completion of testing, update all other access ports connected ot workstations with new VLAN
    Questions:
Did my links go down because I added new VLAN to Po-group BEFORE  updating spanning-tree and OSPF routing?
Can anyone verify the order as outlined in the section "Here is what I assume to be the correct order"

So the order in which to apply TASKS is correct?
also just to clarify the following TASK  based on your comments.

  • The command line 'route' command is broken - what alternatives are there?

The 'route' command appears to be broken in Mavericks ( now also in 10.9.4 ). It does update that tables, so netstat -r makes it seem that it has worked. However, browsers, pings and trace routes all give errors such as 'out of memory'.
So, what can I do to set up working alternatives to the standard routing?
There certainly is some routing capability, and the ability to change it - if you use the OS/X server and set up a VPN, you can set up routing there. So it should be possible to access it through the command line somehow.
    Any suggestions gratefully received.
I really thought that this would be easy, but it's turned into quite a headache.

This isn't a great fix but it's helped us out. We created an autoit script to edit the firefox.js file found in program files\mozilla firefox\default\pref. It searches for the line "pref("app.update.auto", true);" and changes it to "pref("app.update.auto", false);". It's a pain but it's the best we could come up with.
Note: We updated to 3.6.14 and even with the setting above FF still did an auto update to 3.6.15.

  • "ip routing" command on SG300 switch

What does "ip routing" do on the CLI on the SG300?
When I do this, I see it enables ip forwarding, but there is no mention of this in the CLI manual.  I'm just trying to figure out what I would use this for, and if I should leave it enabled, or disable it.
I have several different SG300 switches in L3 mode, and they are set up in a multi-vlan environment...
    Thanks,
    scott

Ah, ok, thanks. I guess that was pretty obvious, now that I know the answer.
The "ip routing" command isn't mentioned anywhere in the CLI documentation, but I guess if I'd thought about it a little longer, I may have come to the same conclusion.
    Thanks Tom.

  • Filtering OSPF routes from MPBGP to BGP speaker in the same VRF

I'm wondering if anyone has some ideas they an share on this.
    Assume the following:
    - CE1 is speaking *iBGP and OSPF to PE1 inside vrf foo
    - PE1 is mutually redistributing CE1's OSPF table with MPBGP
    - PE1 exchanges MPBGP routes with PE2.
    - PE2 is mutually redistributing CE2's OSPF table with MPBGP
    - CE2 is speaking *iBGP and OSPF to PE2 inside vrf foo
So the problem is that the OSPF routes redistributed into MPBGP from via one CE are being announced to the other CE via the PE-CE BGP process.  Because those routes are already being received by the CE via the PE-CE OSPF process, they are showing up in the CE's BGP table as RIB failures.
Is there any way to filter those out?  I've tried setting and matching tags and communities from within various redistribution points on the PE, but I can't seem to keep them out of the CE's BGP table.

are you sure you are using iBGP on both sides and not eBGP?
I'm asking because routes learnt by PE1 from CE via iBGP ( meaning same BGP AS number on CE1 and PE1 vrf foo) will not be propagated to CE2, because an iBGP route learned by a BGP speaker in not pushed to another iBGP speaker.
So it means that a show ip bgp neighbor vrf foo advertised routes on PE2 shall  show that no routes from CE1 are being advertised to CE2.
As mentionned earlier, changing BGP admin distance is an option. Let BGP have a better distance on your CEs and this should do the trick :
    router bgp xxx
    distance bgp 20 20 20
Then after clearing bgp session, the rib failures are gone as OSPF is AD 110 and BGP is now AD 20 ( also remember that BGP does not annouces rib failure routes to other BGP peers)
    cheers

    Hi Reza,
Thank you for your quick reply, and for putting the record staright. As such, a helpful rating was provided
PS: Feel free to help me one more time if you happend to know folllow on this query :)>
I guess that the disributed function has been included in the standard mulitcast routing command because the key word is no longer needed. Or perhaps this platform does not support this at all.#
Once again , thank you for your help above.

  • OSPF Route v IPSEC VPN

    Hello all.
Could anyone point me in the right direction regarding the dilema below.
I have a pair of ASA 5510's running with VLAN Sub-interfaces. For simplicity i'm going to label them 1.3 (192.168.12.0/24) and 1.16 (172.16.100.0/24)
Connected to VLAN.3 is a 2801 Router that is advertising an OSPF route to 172.20.0.0/16 via 192.168.12.253 (MPLS network). I can see this in the routing table on the ASA.
However, I have to configure a new Site-to-Site VPN for a client on VLAN16, which as it would happen, use 172.20.0.0/16 at the remote end. The local networks are segregated and I do not have the 'Same Sec permit' enabled.
When I run a packet tracer from the VLAN16 Network, to 172.20.0.0/16 I can see its trying to egress out of 192.168.12.253.
The million dollar question is am I able to get this Site-to-site to 'ignore' the entry in the routing table and go out via the 'Outside' interface?
You can probably tell I'm a total novice so any assistance would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

You would probably get a better response if you post this on the security forum.
I think your only option is to either perform desitnation NAT or have the remote end do the natting from their end in order to prevent the overlap.

  • Multi-areas in OSPF routing questions

    Hi Guys,
I currently have 2 x L3 switches, one is for area 0 and the other one is for area 5 and they're connected to each other. Since there are only 2 VLANs on each switch, I'd like to replace both of them with a better switch but unsure about the areas routing on the same L3 switch. Please let me know what your thoughts are.
Switch A is connected to switch B thru interface g1/0/1 with ip address: 10.10.10.1/26
I'm currently using ospf and here is the configure of switch A:
       router ospf 1
           network 172.20.1.1 0.0.0.0 area 0
           network 172.21.1.1 0.0.0.0 area  0
           network 10.10.10.1 0.0.0.0 area 5
And this is OSPF routing configure of switch B:
        router ospf 1
           network 192.168.1.1 0.0.0.0 area 5
           network 10.10.10.2 0.0.0.0 area 5
I'd assume the new switch C is the replacement of switch A & B. And here is my routing configuration of switch C:
         router ospf 1
           network 172.20.1.1 0.0.0.0 area 0
           network 172.21.1.1 0.0.0.0 area 0
           network 10.10.10.1 0.0.0.0 area 0
          network 192.168.1.1 0.0.0.0 area 5
           network 10.10.10.2 0.0.0.0 area 5
Is this going to work and/or best cisco practices? if not please advise. Thanks.

    Hi,
Since you are replacing 2 switches with 1, now you don't need the transit subnet (10.10.10.1/26) between the 2 switches any more. What will the new switch connect to? Is the new switch going to peer with any other device? If it is a stand alone switch, why do you even need 2 OSPF areas or even need OSPF all together?

  • No 'ip routing' command on switch and yet intervlan routing.

    Hi,
In my companies 4500 switch I see there is intervlan routing configured for the 4 Vlans it has but I do not see any 'ip routing' command on it
to enable routing on the switch. Can a switch route even though the command isnt there?

Ran the 'show run all' command and it was there. Thought '
sh run | i ip' would display it but didn't.
    Thanks for the command.
We just turned enterprise. I keep forgetting that.
