Shaded logo

Hi
Can someone please give me some advise on a bmp logo that was loaded but now appears as shaded in print and print preview?
I searched the forum and found some resolutions about changing DPI in the Window editor but that only resize the logo and not changing the shading.....
(This is done for SAPScript )

Hi,
Ifyour graphic contains more than 256 colors, it will not work well in SAP. You convert it to a 256 color graphic via graphic tprogram/tool. Then you need to upload the graphic again nto the SAP system via transaction SE78.

The best way to do this is to create the graphics in Photoshop and then place them in InDesign* and set the text there.
Alignment is tricky in Photoshop and small text (which is needed on business cards) can look fuzzy.
*If you don't have ID, there are other layout programs, some of them free.

IPhoto Package Logo is shaded on my NAS - cant open the library

I have moved my libraries to a Synology NAS but I can't locate them when I choose library from iPhoto. The icon is shaded. Why can't iPhoto read the file from the NAS?

iPhoto needs to have the Library sitting on disk formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Users with the Library sitting on disks otherwise formatted regularly report issues including, but not limited to, importing, exporting, saving edits and sharing the photos.

When opening my home page or safari icons, they open but they are shaded and don't work, it's like they are frozen. I can tap on google and the keyboard come up but it won't search. Any ideas how to fix this?

I am a new Ipad2 user and have a problem that I'm not sure what to do. When I try to open my homepage I created or the Safari icon, it opens fine, but they don't work. The page is shaded, does not scroll and is locked up. I can tap google and a keyboard come up and I can search but the results are shaded and are frozen(does not scroll). Does anybody know whats going on? I appreciate your help.

Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (and Clear History)
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

How do I get a chipped stone treatment on logo?

I am not a pro in Illustrator, but I have some experience over the years. Hopefully this is the right place to ask?
Anyways, I was wondering what would be the best way to achieve a certain look. I am trying to mimic the chiped stone look of older Legend of Zelda logos. I know I wont be able to hit the same level of detail, but somethign similair. I havent tried anything yet, but was just trying to get some general direction. I know I can do some stone textures, but what I am not sure on is the best and most effecient way to get those chips, and the roughed up white line edges. That all folow a sort of directional light and shading.
I am using CS6.

I've done some similar type artwork complete with bevels, highlights, and shadows. I only used Illustrator for the outlines and original size. Then I opened the artwork in Photoshop and applied many of the effects there. One thing that I would advise is keeping notes of the settings you use along the way, so you keep the look and feel consistent. For my particular project, I created the artwork 2x the size of output. So, for instance, if the artwork is, say 11x14 finished size, do the original 22x28. But beware, some effects do not need high resolution. For instance, some roughen and noise is done better at a low resolution to enhance the grunge effect. So, you need to decide how rough the artwork will be done, how grainy a texture, etc. Perhaps the 11x14 at 300ppi would be appropriate if the artwork is to be enlarged in the future. If the file will reproduce at 5.5x7 @ 300ppi, then the 11x14 can be done at 150ppi, or the 22x28 at 75ppi. I guess it depends on your final output. The artwork you show in your screen grab is not a logo, but is an illustration. Big difference. Most logos are simple and are vector based. Illustrations are much more complex and time consuming and are bitmap based. Hope this helps, looks like a nice project. Good luck and post the piece when you are done so we can see it.

Text & Shading

We have the need to set up a form where we have what looks like white text on top of a shaded box. However, our issue is that we are using a black & white Xerox printer. Even if we check the "print in color" boxes, when we sent the print to the printer, it prints in Black. We have tried getting around this by creating a xerox font (using the logo editor) that looks similar, but when the logo editor changed the black/white pattern of a bitmap to create the shaded effect of the logo, it lost quite a bit of quality.
Has anyone else experienced something similar, and how have you gotten around this?

When you only have black and white bitmaps, it's very difficult to create readable white text on a black and white pattern. You need to make the edges of the white text clearly distinct. The simplest method might be to get a hollow outline font to use and place the text using the hollow font on top of your shade. A hollow font would probably clear the black and white background around the text. That effect may or may not be a good compromise for you. There may be a good graphic editor (anyone have a suggestion?) that would allow you to do something similar without clearing the background beneath the text.

App logo says "loading", I get a message that it a certain size, go to itun

I was downloading an app on my iPad and I got a message saying it is (more than a certain size...which I can't remember) and that I should go to iTunes. The logo for the app is shaded and it says Loading under it. I want to delete that app or app logo. I tried the normal way to delete an app and although that logo wiggled, it doesn't have an X on it so I can't delete it that way. I tried shutting down my iPad and turning it back on and it didn't go away. How do I get rid of this? I'm not a whiz with technical stuff so the more simpler the lingo the better. Thanks.

From previous posts it sounds like you are trying to download it via 3G. There is a 2MB limit for 3G downloads from iTunes/App Store. The only way to delete it is to download it on your computer, sync with the computer and then delete the app from you iPad like normal.

Can you make a 3d rotating logo with illustrator to put on a website?

Hello! I need to make a rotating 3d logo for a website. Sort of like flash without flash. I tried gif builder but it didn't offer a rototing image. The logo is prettty much 3d already just need someway of getting it to rotate on a webpage. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!!!

As has already been mentioned, making the ubiquitous spinning extruded logo is considerably less tedious in other (and much cheaper) programs, like Xara 3D or Xara Designer. The lighting & shading is also better, because its output is raster.
But let's face it; spinning icons stopped being exciting about 15 years ago. It's about as stimulating these days as a slide transition in Powerpoint. There is no "wow" factor anymore. So one has to ask, what is worth the bother of doing it in Illustrator?
Three things:
First, if scaleability on the web page is required, the output frames need to be vector. (But don't go crazy with it. Instant-gratification features that try to do the illustrator's work for him [like 3D Effect] usually generate absurdly complicated constructs with far too many objects for practical vector animation.)
Second, practically speaking, Illustrator's value in this regard is limited to what must be frame-by-frame animations. For example, this simple animation is vector, and it's arguably more intersting than yet another logo spinning on its axis. But it's inadvisable for this animation to be built as frame-by-frame. There's nothing about it that requires frame-by-frame. It's just two vector paths that change over time in scale and rotation. Rotation and scale be scripted in Flash. The result is smoother and more supple animation, more efficient file size, and the real power of Flash, which is interactvity.

Third, if you're going to justify the tedium of Illustrator, look for things that actually require Illustrator. For example, there's certainly nothing special about Blends. But one of the most important differentiating aspects of Blends in AI is that you can blend between live effects (and not just 3D Effect). The next example below exploits the peculiar nature of a Warp Effect's remaining oriented to the page as the object to which it is applied rotates. The example will be rasterized upon output, but the live vector Envelope and its blending expedites its creation. (The animation is on page 11 of the PDF. Allow the yellow alert to enable embedded media. Click in the middle of the page to start the SWF) :

How do you turn off shading in 3D mode?

I want to wrap a logo around a baseball. All I need is the logo to be rendered in 3D, and I will use the Multiply blending mode to use the shading that's already on the baseball. How do I turn off all shading effects in the 3D interface so no additional shading is applied to the sphere the logo is being wrapped around?

One way is to use Surface Style "Solid" and a material with the required texture in its Illumination channel and solid black in all its other channels.

Rounded logo with transparent background?

i have tried to research this and i have tried to do it (with limited success), but can anyone help me with specific steps on how to get a rounded logo with a /transparent/ background? i sometimes get a rounded logo (and sometimes i get stuck) but I have only been able to get a white background and not a transparent one.

can i follow up and ask you /how/ i create the transparent background? i seem to keep creating a white background - but i guess you are saying that i /may/ have a transparent background and it is just showing up as white because of the file type?
i mean, transparent backgrounds are normally created by dragging an image into a new file with a transparent background and dropping it on top? is there a way to create a transparent background by selecting what you want to keep, deleting the existing background and then making the background of the existing drawing transparent?
also, does anyone have a reference for creating /rounded/ logos? you know, where you have a square logo and you want to take the corners off and round them up? i found a YouTube explanation by some kid but each time I got back to do this i do something wrong and don't get the red colored shaded area that i am supposed to drag to a new file...

In case you are using script(since you have not mentioned whether you are using script or smartforms) please check whether you are specifying any intensity in the include statement
Incase you are using smartforms then please check the output options tab of that window in which you might have specified shading %.

Tap the home button to go to the home screen. Then go to Settings>Safari>Clear history, Cookies and Cache. Restart the iPad. Hold down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and slide to shut down. then press the sleep button and hold until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the button and let the iPad boot up. Try Safari agin.
