Shadow and stroke won't print around placed images

I am using Pages 1.0.2 for a newsletter on a Mac G4 printing to an Epson Aculaser CX11NF. I have added a 2 pt stroke around each photo plus a shadow. Looks great on the screen but they don't show on the printed page. I tried printing from a PDF - same problem just a plain photo. Help, please!

Just be sure to have the latest for your particular version of OS X. It might be worth searching on the manufacturer's support site for issues too.
You can do a search on Panther supported printers on the Apple support site and it will tell you what is and isn't supported out of the box.
It's normally worth getting the manufacturer's latest and greatest driver anyway.
Good luck!

Sorry, I'm new to the Mac world. I recently got a new IMAC and installed my Epson CX5800F printer and it worked fine. Then a few weeks later I installed Windows7 through Bootcamp and I think it reconfigured a port or something and now I get a communication error and it won't print. Can anyone help me with this problem, and/or help me get the port back the way it was? Thanks, Barry

  • Just installed a new officejet 5745 and it won't print from my PC

I just got and installed the 5745 officejet and it won't print a doc i have on my pc, it doesn't even show anything in the print queue. When i use the scan dr, it shows that all is ok with my product and ask if i want to print a test page. I select test print and it does not print. I then click on no print and it goes to recommend printing an internal test page, which it does print. I'm confused as heck now.

  • My InDesign program is printing my placed images lighter than illustrator.

I am trying to print a colour logo in Indesign with black type on my inkjet printer.  The colours are appearing fine on screen and so is the black but when I print everything is washed out.  I tried just printing a black box and it appears black on screen but in print it is grey.  I have tried changing the preferences Appearance of Black to rich and accurate but that did not make a difference.  Do I need to do anything in color management I am using Indesign CS2.  How can I solve this problem?

Acrobat worked, thanks for that advice.   I set my Convert to Profile under the Edit Menu to  Color
Match RGB.  That helped a little bit but it is not printing like the
pdf.  I would like to get this problem resolved. I normally use
illustrator most of my work.  But I would like to have InDesign working
properly as I need it to do other jobs.

    Jen,
This is a problem that you have no time to fool with, correct?
When printing from InDesign and all looks hopeless, export to PDF and print from the PDF.
    Why?
I don't know for sure but it seems all printers made recently accept PDF better than straight from InDesign. It could be the printer driver and it could be InDesign but you don't have time to mess with it now. Wait for some free time to sort it out, but for now output to PDF and print from Adobe Reader or Acrobat.

  • White lines appear around placed images in printing.

A native Illustrator document with placed Photoshop (both CS6) images produces whites lines around the placed images when printed.  The Illustrator document does not show white lines on screen.  Nor does the PDF (Acrobat X Pro) generated from the IA doc show white lines when viewed on screen.  When the document goes to press, the printed product show the white lines:
See upper left image and lower right image-note: other images are not affected.  Both both are native Photoshop images, placed on a gradient in IA.  Perhaps the PDF settings: "Adobe PDF Preset" or "Standard" are not chosen correctly?  Why the white lines?

You screenshot shows a modified Illustrator Default preset with Compatability to Acrobat 4. That setting always flattens transparency which is what I would suggest avoiding first.
Note the Warnings summary alerts that transparency will be flattened.

    Yes

Discussion seems to indicate seeing 'stiching lines' on screen; sometimes in the designing application; or in the generated PDF.  My instances are visible only in printing-in two of the four images.
    1. Transparency.  Is this an automatic occurence in generating the PDF?  Can I turn it on/off? (The 'Save Adobe PDF' window that allows changes to: General, Compression, Marks & Bleeds,Output,, Advanced.....)
Transparency is part of some design and all Effects. Note that you can change a color by using a tint or by setting it's transparency. Many times a tint will suffice. It looks the same and has the same values.
Your original screenshot apears to use images with clipping paths. (Full disclosure - I should know this, but don't...I expect) clipping paths require/invoke the transparent background to place the images within the colored area.
You cannot get around transparency but flattening converts vector objects to raster objects (when transparency touches/abuts/interacts with raster images).
You should be able to use the Illustrator Default, High Quality Print or PDFX-4 to maintain live transparency
2 very old (2004) Adobe white papers, not too legnthy which I can shed some light. Note - PDFX-4 superceeds all of these.

  • I have a canon pixma mx360 all in one printer and it won't print

my printer won't print I just replaced the ink. I tried to trouble shoot the printer, and it said that I had a printer error in the que.
I cleared the que and it still won't print. can you please help me figure this out? my printer is a pixma canon mx360 all in one
    ink jet.

    Hi wendasa,
If you have any antivirus or firewall programs on your computer, please temporarily disable them and then try to scan again.  Sometimes these programs can block the scanning process of the printer.  If you are still unable to scan, we can try scanning using the Microsoft Paint program to see if the scanner function of the printer is working.  To attempt to scan using Microsoft Paint, please follow these steps:
    1.  Launch Windows Paint by pressing the Windows Key+ R, then typing mspaint, then clicking OK.
    2.  Once inside of Paint, in the upper left corner you will see a blue square; please click on that and select FROM SCANNER OR CAMERA.  A window will appear asking you what device you want to use.  Please select the PIXMA MX360, then press the OK button.
    3.  In the next window, you should have the option of selecting a document type; please select one, then press the SCAN button in the window.
Are you able to scan using Microsoft Paint?

  • WPSM54G and Vista won't print to HP Deskjet 5150

At the risk of opening an old discussion, I could not find the answer in the archives here but most threads end in early 2008 so I assume that the problem has been resolved.  I have a Dell Studio 1737 with Vista (32bit), using a WPSM54G print server with a WRT54GS router. It will not print to a HP Deskjet 5150.  It will print if I connect the USB port directly to my laptop therefore it shouldn't be the driver.
Both my desktops print to the printer through the print server - they are XP based.  Both work wirelessly or connected.  It is unlikely it is the router or the print server.
When installing the software on the laptop using the Linksys CD it gives a long message "We did not find the correct printer driver on your system" and so on.  I have tried all suggestions such as using the original CD, downloading the driver from HP site, deleting all drivers and starting over.  It keeps stopping at this message.
I have tried the tech help lines for over 6 hours now and have had no luck, they simply put me in remote mode and check the router and print server settings and then promising to call back.  They have on occasion but no help.  Also charged me 39 dollars because they needed to check the router IP address which is no longer under warranty.  Glad to pay the dollars if it would solve the problem but it hasn't.  Is there a solution out there such as a firmware upgrade or installation CD upgrade or something so that the installation will work with Vista?
    Thanks for your patience.
    Solved!

If you are getting that error message on your Computer.. This means you dont have enuff permissions to make the changes on your Computer, make sure you have logged into your Computer as an Administration..
If still you are unable to make the changes on your Router... then i think you need to Uninstall and Re-install the Printer drivers on your Computer back again and then try to add the ports on your computer...
Or else once you uninstall the Printer Drivers on your Computer.... Go to control pannel and click on Printer... and under Printer windows under task you need to click on "Add Printer" and Select "Local Printer" and uncheck "Automatically Detect the Install the Printer" and click on Next... You will get 2 Options "Local Printer" or "Standard TCP/IP Port" so you need to click on Standard TCP/IP Port and click on Next...when prompted for the "Printer Name or IP address"type the IP address of your Printserver and click on Next... then you need to select "Custom" and clik on Settings and under Protocol select "LPR" and under LPR Name Type LP1 and check the box LPR Bytes counting enable and click on Next and when it prompted you to  select the Printer Driver then insert the Printer Driver CD and and install the Printer Drivers on  your Computer Manually...
Once done sucessfully... i think you should be able to print.

  • W7 ult. HP 6500APLUS Aio says it's online and still won't print from computer

The printer says it's connected to network with num. address and full bars. Still it refuses to print anything I send from the printer. It worked excellent with no trouble installation, or during the last 9 mos. and then it decided, for no appartent reason, to just simply not work. I have installed, reinstalled, deleted and installed, deleted and reinstalled over 15 times. I have downloaded and used the diagnostic tools and dr.  even more times, yet everytime I press the network button and go through the routine, it says "Connected to wi-fi" BUT when I send a doc to be printed, nothing shows in the what's printing dialogue and nothing gets printed.
The pc is directly connected to the router; nothing's changed. My MAC "sees" the printer and prints so I have to go all through the steps on it to get to the page I want printed . This is awful. What happened to HP? You used to be the best in the business and the last 3 lousy printers I've had to junk because they refuse to print. Help me, please.

  • Red and Yellow won't print on my Officejet Pro L7580

My L7580 has been printing fine, all of a sudden the blues and yellows do not print.  It started first with the blues, then also the yellows.  Reds and Black seem ok.  I have done everything suggested on the Print quality diagnotic page (align, clean & calibrate) that did nothing.  Based on suggetions in this forum I took out the print heads and cleaned the electrical contacts, being sure to not to touch the ink nozzles.  My ink supply if fine and my printer head inticate "yellow", with what appears to be still plenty of ink left.
    Thank you for your help.

  • C4480 and C4780 won't print on glossy phot paper

the paper either jams and won't feed throughthe printer, ot if it feeds the print starts above the top of the paper and finishes two or three inches above the bottom.

Hi - A couple of things:
    - First, try adding a few more sheets of paper to the paper tray to see if that helps.
    - Second, I'd try following the steps in this document to clean the rollers, which will likely resolve the problem.
    - If that doesn't resolve the problem, are you using HP photo paper?  If not, you might try HP photo paper and see if you get better results.
    Hope that helps.

  • Using Sharp MX2310u with mavericks and it won't print

    Hi There,
I've just bought a new iMAC, and it came with mavericks. Now the work printer won't connect. Any ideas on how to circumnavigate the need for Sharp to produce up to date drivers?

    Hi Tania.
The HP Jetdirect protocol is the default protocol used by Windows, where it is called Standard TCP/IP or RAW Port 9100. So the advantage of creating the printer queue on the Mac using this protocol is that it is often enabled in the copier and it does not require a specific queue name like LPD can sometimes require.
To check what options are installed, if you know the IP address the Sharp is using, then you can enter this IP address into a web browser as the URL. This will connect to the internal web page of the copier and from one of the provided menus you should be able to see what option kit the Sharp has.

  • Officejet 4620 Brand new HP Black ink cartridge and it won't print black at all

Greetings, my printer recently ran out of ink. So I purchased a set of cartridges from Staples. I installed them and ran the Clean Printhead function. I now have great color and NO BLACK. I ran the clean printhead function numerous times. Its so frustrating to watch the evolution of printers over the last 2 decades go from reliable to unreliable all for the purpose of financial gains. I've had printers since the 80's, I used printers when they came with ribbon cartridges, which hardly failed, though they would indeed dry out. At least when they did dry out you would be able to put a new one in and continue. Now they have engineered replaceable printheads (because they were made knowing they will fail), ink cartridges that are not interchangeable (knowing that once you've had it with one printer model, you'll most likely switch to another brand or model) which uses a DIFFERENT model ink cartridge. All for finacial gain. Between my office and home, I've been through 4 printers in the last 2 years. I was a loyal Lexmark fan, untill my old one died and I purchased a new one, first thing I noticed was the changeable printhead, and I said to myself, uh oh, thats going to fail, and so said, so done, within 3 months of using the printer, Lexmark sent me 2 printheads and 2 sets of replacement inks free of charge. I still have a set of ink and a printhead because the LCD screen went blank, lol. Had to toss it. Ended up switching to HP which I believe is made in the same factory as Lexmarks after much comparison of models. Now I have the newest HP at my office and its been great thus far and SUPERB on ink usage, THUSFAR. I'm almost afraid to find out what my future has in store. I know I ran on alot off topic, BUT HP, YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES. I've now wasted $60 on a new set of cartridges and will most likely need a new printer since my warranty is expired. SMH. Bad Business!!!!
