Shadow Effect on Text in iMovie 6

How do I stop the Shadow effect on test in iMovie 6. I am not referring to the double font issue. This issue makes the font appear 3D.

Is there any type of automated shadow effect for text?

Hi, I've got a 30-second sequence of white text on black background, consisting of about 40-50 individual clips where the text is moving randomly in each clip. Some clips have the text moving left to right some right to left, some diagonally, zooming in or out, all various sizes and movements.
I'd like to put shadows on each text movement to give it the proper depth, but to manually setup the keyframes to look authentic with all the movement would seems to take an enormous amount of time and work when there might be a simpler method. Is there any automated/faster way to do this?

Thanks, I'm familiar with the paste attributes, but the problem with using that feature is that the text movement/panning/zooming in each clip is different, so using the shadow movement from one clip won't match up to any other.
I need it to look authentic, as though it is an actual shadow created by a light on a background. If the text in one clip is moving left to right and increasing in size, the shadow should match. But if I copy that shadow movement to another clip, which might be moving right to left and decreasing in size, the shadow movement would look strange and inaccurate.

Or if You want to elaborate a bit more You can first
• make a project where You set text
• Then Export this as full quality QuickTime .mov
• Import this new clip and start a new project where You apply Ken-Burns
OR MAY BE doing it the other way around will work better - don't think that Ken-Burns can be applied last
AnyHow - by Export and Import as a part of process one can make extreamly complex sceens.

2014.3 -Can't apply drop shadow (or other effects) to text, however I can apply effect to shapes, Why?

I'm new to Muse, but have always been curious to try it. Today I updated to Muse CC 2014.3 after watching the "up and running with Muse" videos out on Lynda.com
I'm not sure if it's something i'm not doing correctly, but I can't apply drop shadow (or other effects) to text, however I can apply effect to shapes just fine, why?

This has to do with the way we set text to be rendered in the browser. You are able to apply a drop shadow to system fonts (which will be rasterized to an image in the browser), but currently web safe fonts with drop shadow aren't supported in Muse because we still support IE8 and IE9 -- which don't support the shadow effect for text. One sort of work around is to use two text frames, one which holds your text and one which has black coloring with opacity less than 100% applied to the text that gets set behind and offset to your text to appear as though it were drop shadow, while keeping your text live. Group them together and moving them shouldn't throw off your design too much.

Shadow Effect Not Publishing in Slideshow

I have set a shadow effect on the Hero image box that does show in the design mode of MUSE.
But when I preview it in MUSE, preview it in the browser and when it is published, the drop shadow is gone.
Any suggestions?

Adding Text Effects to Photos in iMovie 09

I am making a movie in iMovie 09 from photos. I have 940 pictures with lead in effects and text over the pictures. I have not added music yet and am about half way through the 940 photos and iMovie will not allow me to add text to any more pictures. Is their a limit on how many pictures can be in the show? the movie is currently 1 hr and 10 minutes long. Possibly their is a time limit? Any suggestions are welcome.....

Make sure you click in the margin away from the main text body to avoid accidentally pasting or creating the text box inline.
You can also select the text box and go:
+Inspector > Wrap (3rd tab) > Object Placement > Floating+
To make the picture and caption stick together, select both:
+Menu > Arrange > Group+

Drop shadow effecting text frames

hello indesigners.
i am applying a drop shadow to a text frame,and its getting applied to other text frames on the spread,and also i can see a slight colour change to my images as well.
what is happening?

Drop shadows are transparency effects, so the preview redraws the spread showing the transparency flattening. There is a well-known "emboldening" effect for text on screen when transparency is used, and it can show onscreen in your PDF and low-res prints, too, but is usually not a problem with press output. Color shifting in the images probably means your transparency blend space is out of synch with the images.

How do I achieve shadow effect on common text ?

I have seen lately that several websites have normal text, but with a interesting shadow effect...how do I achieve it ? is it with css ? how ?

Muse: the latest version is not allowing the drop shadow effect to apply to text

The latest version of Muse is not allowing the drop shadow effect to apply to your text. It will apply to shapes but not the text. Anyone know what has happened or how to fix it.

Please use a System font for the text and not a webfont or websafe font. Also make sure that that the textframe fill is transparent.

Inner shadow effect and layers in PSE 9

Hi,
I was wondering if someone could assist me.
In PSE 9, I opened a photo>selected it>created a new layer and applied an inner shadow without a problem. However, when I selected the TEXT tool and wrote some text in a new layer on top of the photo and dropped a shadow and/or bevel on the text, the text appears blurry and the shadow effect doesn't look right. I tried the same effects on the text wihtout adding an inner shadow to the photo underneath and the text looked great. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong?

Try right clicking on the T symbol in the tool box and choose Horizontal Type Mask Tool.
Then type your text and see if adding your layer style looks any better.

Shadow effect printing issue

I'm having an issue with the shadow effect that must be so simple to resolve because if its not I don't understand why this tool is available. I have created a text box which is placed over another colour area, typed my text, clicked on the shadow button in the toolbar and shadow is applied to my text. It looks fine onscreen, it looks fine when I export to pdf but as soon as I print it doesn't look fine. When printed the text box is filled with a semi translucent version of the colour below it. If I print the text box so that its not sitting on top of a coloured background there is no problem but if there is something behind it then the text box appears.
Hope that makes sense, I'm only a part time indesign user so I'm not as skilled as I'm sure many of you are so please help this me get past this really annoying problem.

followup to my previous post:
If your PSE version does not have a built-in way to specify the drop shadow's intensity, here is a round-about way.
Note: this works only if the layer is not simplified; e.g., text layer or custom shape.
1. Ctrl-click the object layer to select just the object (minus the shadow).
2. Copy/Paste the selection to a new layer.
NOTE: if the object was created from the shapes toolbar (Rectangle, Custom Shape, etc.), Ctrl-C will not work (Edit>Copy is grayed out). In this case you must do Edit>Copy Merged, or Shift-Ctrl-C.
3. Ctrl-click the new layer to select the object.
4. Simplify the original object's layer and delete the selection, leaving just the shadow.
5. To lighten the shadow, make a Levels adjustment and move the black output level slider to the right.
To darken the shadow, duplicate the shadow layer. Multiple duplicates darken more each time.
To change the shadow color, Ctrl-click to select the shadow and fill with your color. To later change the color, add a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer above the shadow layer.

Unwanted shadow effect?

I've had an annoying problem with PDF created from InDesign CC for months now, and I can't figure out what's wrong because it seems intermittent, and I can't narrow the variables to figure out when it's happening or why.
Sometimes, a PDF I create from InDesign has an unwanted shadow effect under much of the text, and the colors come out dull and darker. Here is a screenshot of the same PDF file exhibiting the problem and one that does not exhibit it.
Oftentimes, I will export a PDF and it's fine, but then I'll edit something and re-export it, and from that point on, any number of exports to PDF will result in a drop-shadowed file. The drop shadow effect is present at all view magnifications except extremely zoomed in (~1600%)....then it goes away, but the colors are still too dark.
When I export PDF, I am using the same preset I've created each time (including the same ICC profiles), but the results can vary for some reason....

I did manage to find a small discussion about a similar problem, and the suggested solution was to use "Gracol" as the ICC profile the PDF is forced to use during export. That is not a good solution since many times, people I send files to for review will preview PDF attachments in web-based email browsers whose PDF plugins don't support anything but sRGB....
Any ideas what is causing this problem? Or, when it occurs and when it won't? Or, what solutions there might be?

Help Recreating Drop Shadow Effect from Clipping Mask

A few months ago I created the image attached. Today for the life of me I cannot create a similar effect, where the drop shadow of the text comes from the clipping mask. Everytime I try to follow the same steps and layer styles I keep getting a normal black drop shadow not a drop shadow that comes from the clipping mask like in my example. Help please I am driving myself crazy!!!

JJMack I really appreciate your answer as well (there's always more than way of doing things), but I know I didn't use a vector mask originally. Unfortunately, I do not know how to add text to a vector mask. I would like to learn how to do it your way, I will work on that (the screen shot will help, thank you)!
