  • Audit Trail on R12.1 (shadow table concept)

I want to enable Audit Trail at table (column) level. Though I got response from Oracle Support but at present I am stuck on particular error. Here are the steps which I followed:
    1. Apply latest Patch 12860752:R12.FND.B - Latest Audit Trail Fixes for post 12.1.3.
    2. Enable Audit Trail on a table : I have set this for "PER_PEOPLE_F" tables of HR module
    a. (R)System Administrator, (N) Profile -> System
    Query Profile: 'AuditTrail:Activate'. Click FIND
Set it to 'Yes' at Site level.
    b) Enable Audit Installations (HR)
    -- Got System Admin: Security:AuditTrail:Install
-- Enable Audit Installation for HR
    c) Define Audit tables and desired columns.
-- Got System Admin: Security: Audit Trail: Tables
-- Query for user table name 'PER_PEOPLE_F' and add columns on which enable trail
    d) Define an Audit Group and associated tables
-- Got System Admin: Security: Audit Trail: Groups
-- Create Audit group for table defined in 'C'
    e) Run Concurrent program 'AuditTrail Report for Audit Group Validation' with parameter as that of Audit Group.
    f) Define an Industry Template contain Audit Group
-- Got System Admin: Security: Audit Trail Reporting: Audit Industry Template
    g) Run concurrent program "AuditTrail Update Tables".
Now, I am facing challenge at point (g), as, the concurrent request "AuditTrail Update Tables" is completing with error.
And I am not able to proceed further.

    Dear Hussein,
I followed the doc id: 727770.1 and as per note, I deleted the previous Audit data.
And enabled the audit trail as per document to the similar table as mentioned in the doc. with similar steps. But still the concurrent request "AuditTrail Update Tables" is completing with error. Please find below the log file for the same:

  • Clarification regarding Shadow Table

    Hi All,
Clarification regarding Shadow Table. FKK_GPSHAD is a shadow table that belongs to Business Partner. The doubts that i have is
    What is Shadow Table?
What is the purpose of Shadow table?
Is it correct way to update Shadow table Manually(Not using any BAPi etc....)?
Is any BAPI available to update The above mentioned Shadow table.
    Thanks in Advance..

    Reclustering InfoCubes:
With reclustering, the InfoCube fact tables are always completely converted. The system createsshadow tables with a new clustering schema and copies all of the data from the original tables into the shadow tables. As soon as the data is copied, the system creates indexes and the original table replaces the shadow table. After the reclustering request has been successfully completed, both fact tables exist in their original state (name of shadow table) as well as in their modified state with the new clustering schema (name of original table).
You can only use reclustering for InfoCubes. Reclustering deactivates the active aggregates of the InfoCubes; they are reactivated after the conversion.
    Reclustering DataStore Objects
Reclustering completely converts the active table of the DataStore object. The system creates a shadow table with a new clustering schema and copies all of the data from the original table into the shadow table. As soon as the data is copied, the system creates indexes and the original table replaces the shadow table. After the reclustering request has been successfully completed, both active tables exist in their original state (name of shadow table) as well as in their modified state with the new clustering schema (name of original table).
You can only use reclustering for standard DataStore objects and DataStore objects for direct update. You cannot use reclustering for write-optimized DataStore objects. User-defined multidimensional clustering is not available for write-optimized DataStore objects.

  • Shadow tables in owb 10.2.0.2.8

    Hi all,
I have a problem with creating shadow tables in patch set 10.2.0.2.8. If I recalled correctly, I did manage to create them with no issues in another version of owb: 10.2.0.3. Can I just verify that this current patchset 10.2.0.2.8 does not support the creation of shadow tables automatiicaly? I looked at the script generated and I didnt see any "logerrors into error_table..." statement.

    Hi
Prior to OWB 10.2.0.3 you can use the DML error logging features only for the mappings which runs
    in ROW based mode.
But from OWB 10.2.0.3 onwards DML error logging features can be used for SET based mappings also.

  • Shadow tables that have been created via the new partitioning schema

    Hi,
         Complete Partitioning :
In a complete partitioning, the fact table of the infocube are fully converted using shadow
tables that have been created via the new partitioning schema.
in the above Explanation what is the meaning of shadow tables which perform the
                   partitioning of an info cube.

    Hi
Shadow tables have the namespace /BIC/4F<Name of InfoCube> or /BIC/4E<Name of InfoCube>.
    Complete Partitioning
Complete Partitioning fully converts the fact tables of the InfoCube. The system creates shadow tables with the new partitioning schema and copies all of the data from the original tables into the shadow tables. As soon as the data is copied, the system creates indexes and the original table replaces the shadow table. After the system has successfully completed the partitioning request, both fact tables exist in the original state (shadow table), as well as in the modified state with the new partitioning schema (original table). You can manually delete the shadow tables after repartitioning has been successfully completed to free up the memory. Shadow tables have the namespace /BIC/4F<Name of InfoCube> or /BIC/4E<Name of InfoCube>.
You can only use complete repartitioning for InfoCubes. A heterogeneous state is possible. For example, it is possible to have a partitioned InfoCube with non partitioned aggregates. This does not have an adverse effect on functionality. You can automatically modify all of the active aggregates by reactivating them.
    Hope it helps and clear

  • Workspace manager vs. shadow tables

    Hi,
I have the requirement to track any changes (insert/update/delete) on db tables.
At the end the user should be able to view the change history of records in the GUI.
The two possible methods are (in my opinion):
    a) workspace manger
    b) manage shadow tables manually (with triggers)
Has anyone experience with workspace manager for this use case?
What are the pros and contras of the two methods?
    Database is 10gR2
    regards
    Peter

We are using OWB to create OLAP because you have your metadata properly defined in the design repository of OWB from where you can deploy to different databases and schemas. We are also using OWB to create tables and other relational objects instead of using SQL Developer or Toad to do so.
Nevertheless there are some restrictions when using OWB: You cannot create programs with OWB (e.g. for limiting access to certain objects), not all aggregation operators are supported (e.g. the weighted aggregation operators like WSUM are not supported by OWB), you cannot create models, ...
If you come to these restrictions you could write "after-deployment scripts", i.e. you deploy your dimensions and cubes from OWB and let the scripts do what you could not model with OWB.
    Hope this helps!

    hi,

  • Multiple Usage unchecked but shadow table still updated with IUUC_PROCESSED = 0

    Hello,
We changed several MT_IDs by unchecking the Multiple Usage checkbox:
The OLI functions have been redesigned correctly and all Run Time Objects also. The IUUC_PROCESSED field is now conditioned to empty in the Abap statements:
*** get records from logging table

    TABNAME
    VARKEY
    IUUC_SEQUENCE
    %_HINTS MSSQLNT 'TABLE &TABLE& abindex(IUC), READCOMMITTED,READPAST'.
However the records in the table are still updated with IUUC_PROCESSED equals to 0:
    We use DB6 09.07.0005 and ECC 6.0 with DMIS 2011_1_731 0004 SAPK-11604INDMIS DMIS 2011_1.

  • Data Rules, error and shadow tables - what is best?

    Hi there
I'm new to OWB and have to create cleansing mappings whihc will take data from a staging table and put it to a cleansed table. We wish rows which fail the cleansing process to automatically be logged to an error table which is a identical to the cleansed area except with the addition of a error message field.
In the mapping I put the name of the error table in the error table property of the target cleansed table but it didn't put the row failing the not null constraint to the error table. When I executed the mapping via the Control Center it completed with warnings but didn't capture this row.
Additionally when cleansing records we wish to check the ultimate target area to check if records exist in certain tables. The problem is that since our targets have history the primary key of these tables is say code and effective date, therefore because we need to do a partal match we can't use foreign key constraints. I'm thinking we could only do this by creating a mapping manually.
    Any help/guidance on best practice
    Many Thanks

    Welcome to iLife 06,
This is a major problem, and you'll notice that this discussion area is ripe with users like you and I who are furious over this. Apple has just orphaned Homepage.
Here's a thread where we were discussing it and some people posted work arounds. Notice that this thread has been locked! The only locked thread I've ever seen on an Apple board. What's that all about?!

  • How to retreive data from a table and a structure

    Hi experts,
I have a requirement to create an ALV report. I have to include fields from two tables 'PA0001' and 'CATSDB' and from one structure 'CATSAPPR'. I am able to retrieve data from tables using INNERJOIN. But i have no idea how to deal with Structure.
I know that structure does not contain any data.
But  i am not able to find any transparent table which has field 'ORDERTEXT' . I found field 'ORDERTEXT' only in structure 'CATSAPPR'.
So please anyone tell me, either any transparent table which has field 'ORDERTEXT' or please tell me how to deal with structure, in this case.
    Please help me,

  • ERROR TABLE INCLUSION

    Hi,
I am using error table to capture the records that failed to load into the target table.
I have specified the data rules and the rule action is move to error for all the rules. Its row based generation and while executing the mapping, the error records are not getting into the error table and mapping stops when it reaches the maximum limit.
Where is the problem ? I couldnt figure out. Can anyone help ???
    Thanks and Regards
    Ela

OWB client version 10.2.0.1.31 and repository 10.2.0.1.0.
    DB is Oracle 10g.
I specified the data rules in the object editor for the table and then specified the shadow table name. Then I dropped and recreated the table which resulted in the error table creation.

  • Table Onwers and Users Best Practice for Data Marts

    2 Questions:
(1)We are developing multiple data marts that share the same Instance. We want to deny access to the users when tables are being updated. We have one generic user (BI_USER) with read access through one of the popular BI Tools. The current (first) data mart we denied access by revoking the privilege to the BI_USER, however going forward with other data marts the tables will get updated on a different schedule and we do not want to deny access to all the data marts. What is the best approach?
    (2) What is the best Methodology for table ownership of tables in different data marts that share tables across marts? Can we create one generic ETL_USER to update tables with different owners?
    Thanx,
    Jim Masterson

If you have to go with generic logins, I would at least have separate generic logins for each data mart.
Ideally, data loads should be transactional (or nearly transactional), so you don't have to revoke access ever. One of the easier tricks to accomplish this is to load data into a shadow table and then rename the existing table and the shadow table. If you can move the data from the shadow table to the real table in a single transaction, though, that's even better from an availability standpoint.
If you do have to revoke table access, you would generally want to revoke SELECT access to the particular object from a role while the object is being modified. If this role is then assigned to all the Oracle user accounts, everyone will be prevented from viewing the table. Of course, in this scenario, you would have to teach your users that "table not found" means that the table is being refreshed, which is why the zero downtime approach makes sense.
You can have generic users that have UPDATE access on a large variety of tables. I would suggest, though, that you have individual user logins to the database and use roles to grant whatever ad-hoc privileges users need. I would then create one account per data mart, with perhaps one additional account for the truely generic tables, that own each data mart's objects. Those users would then grant different roles different database privileges, and you would then grant those different roles to different users. That way, Sue in accounting can have SELECT access to portions of one data mart and UPDATE access to another data mart without granting her every privilege under the sun. My hunch is that most users should not be logging in to, let alone modifying, all the data marts, so their privileges should reflect that.

  • Dml error logging for tables in 10.2.0.5

    Hi experts,
I have problems loading error records into the shadow table specified in the configuration window for tables. Upon executing the mapping, the execution results show warnings with the error records but these records were not moved to the shadow/error table.
The actual scenario is: I specified a non-null data rule on the supplier_code column in the supplier table. Inside the mapping where I used this supplier table, I choose the option "Move to error" for this non-null data rule. Upon executing, it seems that owb treats these as warnings and not errors and thus did not propagate them to the error table. Anyone has any suggestion as to how to make use of the error tables in owb?

DML error logging is generated for set-based PL/SQL mappings if the following conditions are satisfied:
    1. the Error table name property is set for the operator (table/view/mv)
    2. the PL/SQL Generated Mode of the module that contains the mapping is set to 10gR2 and above or Default.
If the value is set to Default, ensure that location associated with the module has the Version set to 10.2 or above.
When you use a data object in a mapping, the Error Table Name property for this data object is derived from the shadow table name property of the data object . If you modify the error table name of a data object (using the shadow table name property), you must synchronize all the operators bound to this data object.
If you are still facing the issue then provide your email and I can send a simple example of data rule mapping in OWB 10.2.0.5
