Shadows of 1st monitor on second monitor.

Hello!
I just "upgraded" my setup from macmini to mbp. Which means I'm new to 2 screen setup, that I have now on my table. There are some really annoying things about it. As I use laptop in front of my cinema display I have laptop screen on the bottom and cinema display above it. I'm running LogicPro from the edge of the screen to another edge of the screen (not fullscreen mode). And when I have some other application on the display of the laptop it has terrible looking shadow from my main monitor on it. Is there a way to disable the shadows going from one monitors windows to another monitor? I undestand that shadows only appear to the active application's windows but they don't look and feel nice.

Window > Arrange and right at the bottom New window for (your file name)
You can drag this across to the second monitor, and work on either window.  The results will be reflected in the other window.  You can have each window at different zoom levels, so It's a useful trick for seeing an overall result of making a local edit while zoomed in.
Note: if your dual monitor workspace has panels open on the second screen, they will obscure the new window.  So you would need to change the workspace back to something like Essentials.

  • Slideshow on 1st monitor (while in dual monitor mode)

Apparently, Lightroom expects you to always use the second monitor for slideshows and does not allow you to use the first (no options available as far I my research went).
My 1st monitor is bigger and would be my choice for slideshow presentations. I am sure I'm not the only person with this setup.
(BTW: I don't quite understand why there's two shortcuts for slideshows on a Mac - "Cmd + Return" and "Shift + Alt + Cmd + Return". In dual monitor mode they do exactly the same, even though the distinction suggests they would have something to do with the target monitor...)

me too originally! Until I remembered that LR never works like that!! The module system can sometimes get confusing trying to remember which things apply throughout LR and which things only on a module...however there is usually some way round every problem in the end,and one of the joys (or frustration dependant on  how busy I am) is discovering it.

  • When I go to do a drop shadow, photoshop cc takes 17 seconds to pull up the window

I just got Photoshop CC a few weeks ago.  It seems to be very slow, and I'm using a super fast computer with 32Gig of RAM, i7 Processor, SSD, etc...
Photoshop in particular, is REALLY slow.  For instance, when I go to Layer, Layer Style, Drop Shadow, it takes about 17 seconds before the window will pop up for me to make adjustments on a drop shadow.  If I click cancel on that, it takes about 2-3 seconds for the window to go away.
Lots of other slow things in photoshop too.  Scratch disks are on a SSD.  Performance is set to give Photoshop 80% of my RAM.
Anyone have any clues or ideas to help?

I have this same problem. It doesn't take quite as long, about 6 seconds to open the Layer Styles dialog, but still, way too long for such a powerful computer (I have pretty much the same specs as your). My Surface Pro 3 i5 runs Photoshop faster than my i7-5820k with a GTX970.
Did you ever get the issue resolved?

  • How to Create payment term for -Net Due 1st Day of Second Month Following

    Hi,
We need to add a payment term for "Net Due 1st Day of Second Month Following Delivery". We need this to be in the system as soon as possible as we just were told of a change in terms for our client effective May 1st.
Kindly advice me how to select the dates in OBB8?
    Thanks
    Supriya

    Hi Supriya,
In OBB8, create a new payment term with the following settings -
Default for baseline date = No default
    Payment terms/Term 1/Fixed date = 1
    Payment terms/Term 1/Additional months = 2
This payment term will ask you for a baseline date on document entry. You can give the delivery date as the baseline date. If required, this date can be changed after posting the document also.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Mike

  • How to Install Applications or Move Applications from 1st Computer to Second computer

My internet connection is unstable and slow.    With great patience and time investment I am able to get down loads to one computer.    I would like to load the applications to a second computer with out having to use th internet.   I am using a Mac.    It seems that loading from the Creative Cloud installs the new applications directly rather than the applications being installed from a file that I can access in the mac DOWNLOADS file.

The installers are downloaded temporarily to your temporary directory.  If you need to install the software on a computer which does not have high speed access you can utilize the Creative Cloud Packager at http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/packager.html.  You will still need Internet access on this computer to activate the software.

  • Mountain Lion 1.8.2 update made my dual monitor stop working on Mac Pro mid 2012

Just done Apple's update for Mac OS X Mountain Lion to 1.8.2 and after rebooting my dual monitor stopped working.
If I go on preferences -> Displays it shows me only one of my two monitors, even if I invert the connections the 2nd monitor doesn't shows up and there seems no way to enable it again.
    Any suggestion?
P.S. I already tried to set from "Best for display" to "Scaled", but after rebooting Mountain Lion 1.8.2 reset it to "Best for display"

    Ok,
did some extra test here, but first of all my configuration:
Mac Pro (Mid 2012) with ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB.
2 LCD 24" Wide-screen (1st monitor Hyundai W240D and 2nd Monitor HP w2448hc), both LCD worked perfectly until reboot after installing OS X 1.8.2
After reboot only the 1st monitor wored fine, the 2nd not even listed, so tried to invert cable connections on the 2 miniports on the ATI video card, but nothing changed, still only the 1st monitor working.
Did a second test, disconnected the 1st monitor and connected ONLY the 2nd and now the second works fine.
Tried to connect 2nd monitor on a different miniport, and i still works fine.
Updated my MacBook Pro to 1.8.2 (it as an nVidia card) and connected my 2nd monitor to it and everything works fine, both the laptop LCD and my HP LCD are working fine.
So it looks like Apple screwed up the ATI driver on the latest 1.8.2, now only ONE miniport is active.
To all users with the same Mac Pro configuration: hold to update to Mountain Lion 1.8.2 until Apple fix this driver issue.
More info are on the Console output, so will have to contact Apple on-line support to signal this bug.

  • FF always opens in 2nd monitor

I have dual monitors and occasionally set my 2nd monitor as the primary when testing software. On reverting back to use my 1st monitor as primary (using display settings) I find FF disregards the changed setting and always opens on the second monitor. Reboot does not resolve the problem. All other apps open in primary.
    Any way to resolve this?

Maybe it was fixed in newer versions of Firefox? You are using Firefox 3.5.
If you see that Firefox 3.6 has the same problem, read [https://support.mozilla.com/en-us/kb/basic+troubleshooting this] and, if you see it's a bug with Firefox, file a bug at [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org bugzilla], if it hasn't been filed before.

  • Adding monitors to a laptop

i just added an additonal monitor to my laptop and i need a second one to total three. They all need to be capable of showing different windows at the same time, is this possible? I dont have another VGA outlet on my laptop, is there an adapter. Also, since I attached the 1st monitor, my computer will go to a blue screen and I have to shut it down and reboot. Is there, is there some other software that I need, none came with the monitor. Thanks

Adding a third monitor port will be difficult.  You MIGHT be able to find an ExpressCard video card, or you can get a DisplayLink USB video adapter.  The ExpressCard solution will perform much better than the USB solutions.  The USB solutions will only be useful for basic word processing and spreadsheet tasks - you will NOT be able to play video on them or do anything 3D.
As to the bluescreen - no clue, shouldn't be happening.  Update your video card drivers is about the only reccommendation I can give.

  • Lightroom 4.4 dual monitor support

Is there any possibility of looking closely at the way dual monitors are supported in LR4.4?
Having just upgraded, it is worse than LR3.6 which wasn't totally ideal anyway. The issues are:
LR forgets that you have dual monitors when you close it and you have to set it up again when it restarts.
LR will switch which monitor has the grid or loupe view not quite at random but annoyingly frequently as a result of taking an action. Importing does it amongst others.
I have one good monitor and another which is not quite as good. Clearly I want to be able to edit the photos and look at photos in the better monitor. It would be helpful you could select which monitor you want to use for Loupe and the program respects this choice until you actually choose otherwise. I find that I am having to think of ways to do things so that it doesn't switch me; ie I am fighting the program instead of it helping me by being intuitive.
    Thanks.

Interesting. It probably shouldn't make any difference but do you use MAC, I am using a Windows 7 PC.
I have looked closely at the preferences and menu options but cannot see anything user configurable which allows me to control this. The 2nd monitor menu seems to allow you to lock it on Loupe but that isn't what I want as the second monitor is the smaller not so good one. This option isn't available for the 1st monitor.
Strangely, this morning it is restarting with the second monitor in use. Does it relate to conditions when LR4.4 was closed down?

  • Dragged attachment appears on wrong monitor

I have two monitors attached to my new 2012 Mac Pro running Mountain Lion (10.8.1).  For the first time that I can recall in years of using a multiple monitor setup, I have a very odd little problem.
When I open Mail or Safari and drag something from the window to the desktop of the 2nd monitor, it appears on the desktop of the 1st monitor.  If I drag an item to the desktop of the 1st monitor, it just appears there fine.  Even weirder, it appears that the position is preserved relative to the screen.  If I drag to the lower left of the second monitor, the item appears on the lower left of the first monitor!
In any case, this behavior is irritating since I usually have mail open in a large window, so dragging to the desktop on the second monitor gave me a way of having things visible and on the desktop.
Any ideas what could cause something dragged to the second monitor to appear on the first monitor's desktop?

    This from an older post:
I wrestled with that a while ago, did some experiments, and came up with this definition:
The Dock will be displayed on the specified edge of the Main (MenuBar) Display EXCEPT when a secondary display extends that edge.
In the previous discussion, the display that extended the desktop and caused the trouble was used in a fixed way, and the poster did not often drag things to it or split windows across the screens there. (As you seem to be doing.)
In that case, you can LIE to the arrange pane, and tell it the left display is up and to the left, or down and to the left, and it will no longer properly extend that edge of the main display. Then the Dock will go back to the left edge of the main display. The side effect is that you will not be able to drag things to the left display in a straight line.

  • Hd 6570 running 3 monitors

    Hi
I have an HP Elite with an HP Radeon HD 6570 graphics card running 2 monitors and wish to connect a 3rd monitor.
1st monitor on the DVI port
2nd monitor display port to DVI adaptor
3rd monitor display port to DVI adaptor
    3 x Iiyama 22” HD Screens running at 1920 x 1080
The spec for the HD 6570 indicates it will support 3 screens (http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13967_na/13967_na.PDF)
On connecting the 3rd screen only two work, you can combine any of the 2 from 3 indicating there is no hardware issue with the third port on the graphics card or the 3rd monitor.
I have updated to the latest catalyst driver from AMD’s web site.
What am I missing here? Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Regards
    Kevin

    Hello Kevin_99,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand that you are trying to connect a 3rd monitor to your HP Elite which has the AMD Radeon HD 6570 DP (1GB) PCIe x16 Card. I am providing you with a link to the AMD Radeon HD 6570 DP (1GB) PCIe x16 Graphics Card (QP027AT) - Specifications and Warranty page which states under the features that the card "Provides Dual-Link (DL) DVI-I and two DisplayPort output ports (useable at the same time)".
This indicates that the card supports only 2 monitors at a time, but that does not mean you cannot use more than one monitor. I am also providing you with an HP Support document: Using Two or More Monitors with One Computer (Windows 8), which states "If you must add a second video card to your computer to gain another video connection, make sure both video cards use the same Windows 8 compliant (WDDM) driver. One way to ensure this is to use the same video card model for both video connections.". This means you need to install a second video card (be best if you could install the same card so as to ensure compliancy).
If the second video card is not an option for you then you can also try to use the HDMI port use the DisplayPort in its native mode. To do this, simply buy an ACTIVE DisplayPort to DVI or DisplayPort to VGA adapter and connect your third monitor. A passive adapter (most of the cheap DisplayPort to DVI adapters) will not work as the card must rely on a compatibility mode that conflicts with the other 2 monitors.
I hope I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a wonderful day!

  • Maximising Safari on a dual-monitor setup (GUI behaviour in Window XP Pro)

When I maximise Safari on the 2nd monitor of my two-monitor setup, it disappears off-screen (but its icon still remains in the XP taskbar) and I am unable to bring it back into the viewable area. Consequently, I have to close Safari and reopen it to continue.
When I maximise Safari on the 1st monitor it fills the screen as I'd expect.
    Windows XP Pro

Confirmed on another Dell D610/Windows XP dual-monitor setup.
However, when I maximise safari on the secondary monitor it still appears on the task bar, enabling me to right-click and Restore the window (whereupon it reappears).

  • Video card to run 2nd and 3rd monitors cs5.5

    Hello all,
I have a powerful system with multiple hard drives that I use to cut HD DSLR footage on in CS5.5.  My GTX 570 runs my 1st monitor and my 9600GT runs the 2nd and 3rd monitors with great success.
    1st monitor = timeline
    2nd = bins
3rd = full screen preview (Highest quality preview)
The reason I use the gtx 570 to run only the first monitor is because it idles much higher and hotter connected to two monitors.  (Disables the down clocking feature on the card when connected to multiple displays).
    Well the 9600gt has died.
I don't want to spend alot of money here but I am not sure what video card I require for my 2nd and 3rd monitors.  Keep in mind the 3rd monitor is the full screen preview.
I know premiere pro uses my 570gtx for the MPE but I have no idea how this effects (if it does at all) my 3rd preview monitor since I have had it plugged into my 9600gt.
There for I am not sure if I can get away with a cheap card like a $50.00 Nvidia GT 610 or do I need something at least equal or greater then my old 9600gt?
    Thanks!,

  • Single monitor goes black, 2 monitors work fine

I was using a friend's old PPC G5, and the Dell flat screen he has went black. Couldn't get it to stay on.  So I hooked up another monitor in the 2nd monitor socket, and the 1st monitor unexpectedly came on. Both displays worked fine. But if I disconnected the 2nd monitor, or even just turned it off, the Dell went black again. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions about what's going on? The Mac is vintage 2006, running 10.4.11

The 2nd monitor is in a DVI port on the left. The 1st monitor is in the main display port on the right. My friend bought one of the last PPC G5 towers that Apple released, so the main port should also be DVI. I'll check it out to be sure.
