Shake 4.1 License Node Locked?

Is Shake 4.1 node locked? Waiting a few months to see how the Mac Pro works, but would like to purchase and install Shake now on my G5 dual 2.5. and don't want to have issues transferring the license if it is node locked.

AFAIK, you can simply install Shake on the new system and remove it from the old one.

Is there a way to convert a node locked ISE Design Suite license to Vivado?

Hi, I have not worked on the ML605 board for nearly 3 years. At that time, I was using the node locked ISE license that came with the ML605 kit. I think I was using ISE 13.2 or 13.4 at that time. I had a few problems on 64 bit, and don't want to think about ISE again (and from Xilinx response to ISE questions, it appears that Xilinx does not want to either).
Will the Vivado Webpack fully support the ML605?

I find it strange that Xilinx stopped working on ISE while continuing to support devices < family 7 (i.e. pretty much everything that people are actually shipping), but maybe Xilinx decided the existing bugs in ISE are trivial enough to warrant the decision. But if so, it would mean that Xilinx thinks the 64 bit ISE crash problems I reported 3 years ago are not show-stoppers (at that time, Xilinx support told me that they problem they found in ISE will be addressed in Vivado)...

Is it possible to have two node locked licenses in one machine for running two sessions of synthesis/implementation?

Hi,
I have 2 node-locked licenses for Vivado.
I have installed one of these licenses in one server. It allows me to open more than one Vivado sessions. But I can run synthesis/implementation in only one session.
I want to be able to run synthesis/implementation simultaneously twice in the same machine.
Is it possible to install the 2nd license in the same server? If so, will it allow me to run 2 sessions of synthesis/implementation side by side and how do i install that?

Unique ID For Node Locking an Application?

I want to restrict the computers that a client application can run on. My original idea was to refuse server access outside of a restricted set of MAC addresses, but it seems difficult to grab the MAC address in a platform neutral way. (assume DHCP evironment so IP addresses may not be stable). Does anyone know of a way to access a hardware unique ID for doing a sort of node locking?

Would the CommAPI ( http://java.sun.com/products/javacomm/ ) and a dongle help?

OSX Update is keeping Shake from rendering out nodes

I just upgraded to OSX 10.4.11 and now I cannot render out any nodes, I get a 4Kilobyte file or just one file if I try to render a sequence.
I saw one person re-installed Shake, but I am on the road for the holiday and do not have my install disks. Any ideas?

Have you tried clearing your browser's cache (Command+Option+E for Safari) and reloading the site?
Try the following:
delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.

Shake Rendering File out Node Crashing problem

I have 4.1 with leopard installed on my Imac intel 2.16 core duo machine and every time I try to render a file out node, it crashes or quits unexpectedly. Does this happen with anyone else or can anyone tell me how to fix this problem? Apparently, there have been some issues with this but I cant get a straight answer. Any help would be appreciated. To trash preferences, close down Shake, go to your user directory, then navigate to Library/Preferences and delete the file called com.apple.shake.plist. Empty the trash, then fire up Shake again.
I had a weird bug today. I was trying to output a single-frame PNG and it came out garbled. I tried all kinds of things like trashing prefs, changing settings, etc. In the end, I outputted it as a TIFF, and converted it in Photoshop, which worked perfectly.
For your issue, try outputting it as a sequence of TIFF images and see if it works. Just do a short range of frames to test it.

Shake Crashes after deleting Node

I can now crash Shake in teh node view everytime. If you add a node and then click on it and select cut, the software will crash (or at least is does on my system). I am a very new user and I am running version 4.10.0606 is this a common problem.

When you crash, you get the option of Reporting to Apple? Take that and copy this section of the log:

UCCX 8.5 to 10.5 RU Upgrade

having difficulty finding documentation so going to ask here. I am doing an upgrade (refresh) of our 8.5(1)SU4 UCCX (NOT HA) server to 10.5.1(SU1)
I am also doing the same for CUCM and Unity Connections and part of the process for CUCM and Unity Connections is to Modify the network adapter to use the VMXNET 3 adapter type.
Do I need to do this for UCCX? I have not found any documentation showing that this is required. Here are my upgrade steps below and I have already upgraded ESXi to 5.1.
Upgrade UCCX
1. Upload ISOs to DataStore
2. Disable IO Throttle on Publisher
3. Patch Publisher with RU COP 5 minutes
4. Shutdown Publisher 10 minutes
5. Modify VM Settings: RAM from 4GB to 8GB
6. Power On Publisher 15 minutes
7. Mount 10.5(1)SU1 ISO
8. Upgrade Publisher to 10.5(1)SU1 45-60 minutes
9. Switch Version to 10.5(1)SU1 60 minutes (includes switch version
process, reboot, SELINUX loading, services startup)
10. Install license Node Locked Activation Key acquired from Licensing
10. Rerun the CAD Client Configuration Tool (10 minutes)

Thank You! Yes, I am aware of CSCup83263. Even opened a TAC case to see if there is anything that can be done ahead of time to determine if I will run into this issue or a work around. I am told there is nothing that can be done and when if it occurs, call TAC.

UCCX 7 to 8 Upgrade - SFTP

I have a customer with 2 UCCX 7 servers and getting 2 new servers for UCCX 8.
The upgrade process calls for SFTP. Where could we get this? Could we install this say on the standby UCCX 7 server?
Then from UCCX 8 server (publisher) I could install from DVD and do a restore.
Please clarify if there is a way to do this more efficiently.
Also during a basic UCCX 8 install do we need to use the PAK and get a basic initial license (node locked license)?

I've used FreeFTP with no problem. Also, OpenSSH has been recommended lately. I would suggest installing it on a different PC, because you'll probably want to install UCCX 8 with the same IP address and hostname, so you'll need to shut down UCCX 7. Additionaly you can check this thread:

You install UCCX 8 from the DVD. When you start the Initial Setup Configuration on the UCCX 8.0, you choose 'Upgrade from a previous UCCX release' and there you point to the PreUpgradeTool (PUT) file on the SFTP server. Here's the upgrade guide:

UCCX 7.0(2) SR5 to UCCX 8.0(2) License

Team - while upgrading from UCCX 7.0(2) SR5 to UUCX 8.0(2)
on separate servers - what license needs to be obtained before hand? Is there anything shipped with the
upgrade that has the PAK? If so is this part of
a separate delivery or order from Cisco?
I have the 8.0.2 media but no license PAK.
I will be doing a first node setup ( upgrade based on the put sftp backup of uccx7).
But it looks the uccx 8 should be installed with some license initially. Thanks.

The order from PUT should have included media and a PAK license for the upgrade. You would need to combine the new LIC file generated with all of your existing LIC files and upload them to the first node of the new install. Note that the 8.0 version of these licenses is node-locked so you will need to have your License MAC-related settings set to avoid invalidating the license.
If you didn't get your PAK file as part of the put order you may want to reach out to [email protected] for further assistance. Be sure to include the Cisco SO number from the PUT order.

Problem with Gatekeeper license in lab

I'm dealing with my CCIE VOICE lab prepearing for exame.
I have 2811 router with ios version 12.4(24)T4.
Since i didn't find the gatekeeper functions enabled i tried to get a demo license from cisco.
1 The license site support now only 29xx and 39xx series for gatekeeper 'cause 28xx in out of sale
2 i tried anyway to get a license and looks like it worked. I got a license file.
3 Installed the license file in the flash, rebooted and checked for activation. The gatekeeper command still miss.
During license installation i got this:
ACCEPT? [yes/no]: yes
Installing...Feature:gatekeeper...Successful:Not Supported * ( does this mean that my router doesn't support the gatekeeper function ? or is related to the thing reported in point 1 ? )
1/1 licenses were successfully installed
0/1 licenses were existing licenses

The show license command is blank, but the show license details reports this:

Gatekeeper licenses are enforced from IOS 12.4(20)T or later and requires you to install the license post upgrade (the eval license gives you 60 days in which to register). Additionally, a 2800 or 3800 series router requires a 'C' image from Table 1 in the below link:

Problem with implementing license in Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2

Goodday,
For Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2 I downloaded an license from the license portal.
This concerns a eval/demo license, for an demo of Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2.
When selecting the the type of license you get a few options, from which I selected the basic, advanced and lifecycle evaluation licenses. This is the type of license that is required for our demo.
After completing the wizard I can download en implement the license.
Until this point everything goes as it supposed to be.
When i go to the Prime Infrastructure 2.2 appliance (running on VMWare ESXi 5.5.0).
When I go to the license section in Cisco Prime Infrastructure I can implement the license, however if I implement the .lic file I get the error “Unknown feature (PI_VM)”.
I have done implementing license files before, but this is the first time i encounterd this problem.
Who can help me with this error?

Activation based license not recognized by Virtual Machine (Vivado 2014.4)

Hi,
I am using an VirtualBox to host a Ubuntu 64-bit Linux machine. And I have a Vivado node-locked license. In the first time, when I tried to generate license and used it with the machine, everything went well. But then I returned the license back to Xilinx, so that I can generate the license again for any other machine.
Then, the time comes to me that I need to use my Linux VM again. After generating the "Xilinx_license.xml" file via the Xilinx licensing website, the VLM refuses the license with the message:
Then I tried using command prompt to process the license, but I got the foolowing output:

Exit(4) error when processing response.
So I am now stuck in a state that I have a license generated, but I cannot use it, and I also cannot return it back to Xilinx. I need some help from Xilixn technical support.
A list of my questions:
- what did I do wrong so that such an error occurs? ( I was able to use my VM and Vivado without any problem for the first time)
- how to make VLM recognize this license again?
- is there anyway to get myself out of the stuck-with-the-license state?

The Virtual Machine has never been removed or changed.
I merely returned the Xilinx license that was once assigned to this Virtual Machine some days ago, and today I tried to generate a license again for the same Virtual Machine.
Somehow the VLM does not recognize the license.xml at all, and I am now stuck with this license that can neither be recognized nor be returned.
Is it possible to un-do the current generated license and allow the Xilinx licensing site to generate a new license again?

There are a lot of ways to do this. One good way would be to generate a one-way hash from a set of known data. Take a set of data to uniquely identify the user: last name, first name, company name, etc. To node lock the key to a specific computer you could also add the IP address or something similar. Take all this information and produce a MD5 hash or similar algorithm. A good one-way hash is very difficult or impossible to decipher.
As the previous poster stated these things are not bullet proof. No software that operates on an open hardware system can be completely secure. The reality of it is that most people are not going to waste the time to reverse engineer a product if it's fairly complex.
