Shake no longer being developed?
I have read that the Shake product is no longer being improved upon or updated. Hence, the huge price drop in this software earlier this year. Since it is now relatively inexpensive, I am considering getting it. I am already using Motion and Final Cut quite a lot.
Still, my lingering question is: if Shake is no longer being developed or improved, then is Apple working on some other software that will replace its functions?
I am hesitant to invest in a software that may not have a future.
Apple is working on something new, but that shouldn't put you off Shake. As with any software, new versions come out all the time thus rendering prior ones 'obselete'. But, if the software does what you want it to do it's not obselete, by definition.
If you need the capabilities Shake offers, get it. If you don't, then no harm in not having it. As regards lack of support, there is masses available on the web. Shake has a large, active userbase and forums like this one provide plenty of information (try Creative Cow too). There are plenty of add-ons available from thrid-party developers too.

If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. -
Tried to restore my ipod classic on a windows computer... there was some sort of failure and it is now stuck in "disk mode." The ipod is no longer being recognized by itunes.
I am having the exact same problem. My ipod has been stuck in disk mode for over two hours and now itunes is frozen.

What used to work just fine, is no longer working...
Within the last 2 days, song purchases that were made on my ipod Touch are no longer being transferred when the ipod synchs up. The strange thing is that the songs appear in iTunes --> Store -- Purchased list, but are greyed out. They play just fine on the ipod...but aren't making it back to the Mac.
I have tried right clicking on the ipod when it appears in iTunes and selecting "Transfer purchases", but that doesn't seem to work either.
Any clues as to what is going on?

TimOne other very important piece of information I forgot to include...the purchases were made prior the iOS update. So the sequence of events went like this:
1) ipod Touch with previous iOS (4.0 I think)
2) purchases made
3) ipod connected and iTunes prompts for iOS update
4) iOS upgraded to 5.0
5) Now the purchases seem to be stranded on the ipod Touch

If you are having issues mounting an external hard drive volume, you may want to see if it shows up and/or can be repaired in Disk Utility; you may find the following article helpful:

My phone was stolen and I discontinued cell service to the phone through my provider. However, before discontinuing service, I locked my phone from the icloud. Now that it is no longer being serviced by the service provider, will the phone remain locked?
Thanks, James. Sadly, I had not upgraded to iOS 7 as I only had an iphone 4 and those I knew with the 4 who upgraded had major issues with battery life, so I decided not to upgrade. However, I know the phone was locked because the new "owner" called and hung up on me while calling the number I listed in the "This phone is stolen message" set by the cloud. Are you saying that my phone will remain locked if they don't know how to break into it? Or are you saying that it will no longer stay locked once I turned off service to the phone?

Once I upgraded to ML, I'm now finding that my Seagate Free Agent external hard drive is no longer being backed up by Time machine. Do I have to wait for Seagate to update their drivers for this hard drive?
I tried your suggestion, and it's been giving me the message "Preparing for Backup" for the past 8 hours. Does this mean TM is backing up my hard drive? I'll give it a few more hours, but if nothing else happens, I'm not sure what else to do. I'm not sure if there are any new external hard drives that are compatible with ML yet.

My Apple ID is no longer being recognized after upgrading my I-Phone to IOS5. When trying to update my aps, it asks for the password and doesn't recognize it when I enter it. I've been through the entire "Forgot my ID" process, but nothing's working. Can anyone help please?
Me too my real worry is that we will not be able to download software updates as it seems to me that the original software was installed using the old ID

SCANNER NO LONGER BEING RECOGNIZED
I have a G4 with OS X 4.5 and my hp scanjet 3970 was working fine until I applied the last OS update now it is no longer being recognized by my computer, I've tried updating the drivers but was still unsuccessful in getting it operable...I've repair the permissions from my DVD but still was not successfull.
Does anyone have any solutions or suggestions (other than getting a different brand scanner. lol!!!)

Okay everyone I was able to resolve the issue with my scanner.
After posting here I recalled how my wireless mouse was acting up and the step I took to resolve that issue, so after uninstalling the hp software I went to the Library/Preference folder and removed all the hp scanjet plist and all the other related scanjet files.
I emptied the trash can and restarted my computer and then reinstalled the updated driver and "walaa" I was once again able to create magic.

My JPEGS are no longer being copied over to Finder. Only a random fraction are copied. It use to work perfect. I can move them 4 or 5 at a time, but it is very time consuming. Is there a bug in the updated versions of iPhoto?
OK - here is what I've done in the past. As I want to be able to save my photos on a DVD that can be read by both a PC and a Mac, I am burning them in Finder. I start by downloading into IPhoto. I'll flag and edit the ones I want to print or post to the web. After that I want to take all the keepers and move them from IPhoto to various files I create in the document section of Finder. I've done it both ways in the past, copy and paste or just drag over, all the files would transfer over. Now there may be dozens of pictures that do not move over - very random, in one case there were only 6 photos and the 3 vertical ones did not copy over.
I'm wondering if this is a software issue or if there is just too much data being moved around. FYI there are 2 Nikon cameras I use and the files from both do this.

That's a problem (as you've discovered). Time Machine works best if it has it's own, exclusive partition. See Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #3 for details.

That will let you delete individual backups, or all backups of selected items.
If you don't have room to copy the "other" stuff elsewhere while you erase the disk, you can delete the Backups.backupdb folder. Emptying the trash will take a very long time, and may give you permissions and/or locked file problems. If so, see #E6 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting. -
Library Backups No Longer Being Created in 10.1.2
No matter what I do, Library Backups are no longer being created in 10.1.2. This is happening on all 6 of my production Mac Pros and iMacs. I can change the location of the Library Backup folder, but nothing is ever created in the new location. It's as if FCPX no longer knows how to backup libraries.
Some background...
We are working with Libraries and Media files on our XSAN Volume.
OSX 10.9.3
FCPX 10.1.2
We did not notice the Backups were not being performed until one of our Libraries had an issue and we could not find a single Backup of the library.
What I have tried...
Move Libraries to Local System Volume - Still No Backups.
Change Library Backup Location - Still No Backups.
Toggle Library Backup Location to No Backups and then Back to Backups - Still No Backups.
Ensure Proper Permissions on Library Backup Folder - Still No Backups.
Trash FCPX Preferences - Still No Backups.
ReInstall FCPX - Still No Backups.
I am at a loss at what to do next. I can't even see the backup process happening in console, or any errors that might give me a clue as to why it's not working. Short of trying to reinstall Mac OS on one of my production macs, I see no other alternative. Considering I'm having this issue across our entire production system, I'm wondering if this is a very serious FCPX 10.1.2 bug.

I'm getting no backups with newly created Libraries like others, tried all sorts of juggling acts in the new settings arrangement trying to find a way in.
What I have so far discovered is that Libraries are not created until a Duplicate Project is created of the original Project for the Library, then it appears to do as expected.
Seems like a bug.
