Shaky cam

Hello,
My question pertains to flash CS4
I was wondering if someone knows of a way to make the objects move in "squiggly" motions. I have some movie clips that I want to motion tween, but I want it to appear as though they are being looked at through a hand-held camera. I would assume that would involve some sort of script that uses a Random function.. or something.. but I am not a scripter. Can anyone help me get this started?
Also, a more basic question: Can someone tell me how to copy the motion tween between two keyframes in one layer and paste it to another object in another layer that has the same length of tween?

You gotta say that. That is VERY different from the shakey handheld camera. That is cruddy old projector shakey.

Motion import from Cinema 4D has shaky camera keyframes

I exported a scene from cinema 4d into motion using the export 3d data function, in cinema 4d I used very little keyframes a total of 4, 2 in the beginning for position and rotation and 2 at the end for the same.
When I bring it into Motion is converts the camera move into a tons of keyframes, but when when I playback with a dropzone added I get a very shaky camera, which is obvious with the dropzone and not the footage and passes since they were rendered out in cinema and they rendered out smoothly.
Is there a trick to get clean keyframe import from cinema that I am missing?

Are any aps better than lock & load X for shaky cam

I shot a lot of vacation footage and a fair amount of it is pretty shaky. I've tried the free download for Lock & Load X from Core Melt and it seems to work for some shots but not all. Does anyone know of any other apps out there that are better for shaky camera footage, or is there some aspect of Lock & Load that if applied will make it work better? Thanks for any help--

Also…many people swear by Warp Stabilizer in After Effects. There is a 30 day trial if you would like to evaluate it.
There is also a pretty good stabilizer in Motion ($49), which I think is the same engine that FCP X (meaning the new FCP, not Final Cut Express) uses but with some more controls.

Stabilizing a shaky camera shot

I've been told there is a filter that could minimize the shaking of a hand held camera shot, so long as the shaking isn't severe.
Is anyone familiar with this filter?

If the OP, after almost three months, is still having trouble figuring out how to stabalize his shot, then I think there's some serious problems.
Surely one can figure out how to stabalize a shot using Shake in that amount of time, and that's even including the "dude" that said it ain't easy to learn. I mean.. that statement alone should tell you who is having trouble learning the program. I think people use the "steep learning curve" as an excuse to deter themselves from even attempting to learn the program and you can either choose to become one of them and let it deter you as well or...

FWIW Final Cut can be said it has a steep learning curve. Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Logic can also brand the same title.
Some dudes out there can even say iChat has a steep learning curve for Apple's sake! Let your passion take over your fear and frustration of learning and the excuses will subside!

Pluggin for shaky camera

Somebody told me about a plugin in adobe premier. that makes the footage look less shaky. Is there a pluggin in final cut pro for that also.

ONCE -- a long time ago I used to do this by hand!!! Put a dot as an overlay and keyframe motion to that dot.
Not anymore. Now I generally send it to a program called shake if I really want to remove the jitters. After Effects might be able to handle this too...

Blurring out Objects with shaky camera!

I am trying to blur out some logos on some Private Jets to keep the owners of the jets confidential. The video is not the most stable video, I have already watched some tutorials on how to do this. But I am running into a problem..
I track the motion, and move the track motion boxes over the logo, and then link it to an adjustment layer.. The problem is the tracking will not stay focused on the logo, when the camera moves the blur moves off the logo, how can I keep the blur stationary on the logo even when the camera is moving?

Can you reset Tracking Targets at the points it loses them?
You can widen the Tracking Window maybe.
You may even find that a Tracking Mask in PPRo with its more generalised tracking approach may do the job

Have A Really Shaky Clip-Smooth Cam Or Something Else?

Have used Shake a couple of times for smoothing out shots(Still am in awe how well Shake works). But, in this instance, after doing a render flip, the black areas are taking up to a third or more of the x or y axis. When working frame by frame, the clip is becoming blurry from all the adjusting, using scale node. Hope this made some sense. I have the translation at 2.5, same for rotation. Shake 4.1.1, 10.5.8. Any help is appreciated.

I would try using lower values for translationSmooth and rotationSmooth,
and just accepting some camera shake.
Shaky camera footage includes motion blur from the shaking.
Smoothing out the camera motion doesn't smooth out the motion blur,
and it ends up looking really bizarre.
By just accepting some camera shake--maybe editing accordingly--
the motion blur will make sense. You'll also have less black,
so you won't have to scale as much.

Write permissions issues / lots of "ACL found but not expected" errors / hardware failure? on brand new Mac Mini (still within warranty). OSX Mavericks 10.9.1.

I bought a 2012 Mac Mini 2.6 Ghz Intel Core i7 from the online Apple store. It came with Mavericks 10.9.1 pre-installed and was delivered two days ago (I know, the mini update is evident but I needed the machine).
I noticed that I had to enter my password every time I created, moved or deleted a folder. I did not think much of it.
I did, however, think much of not being able to install files from certain developers. I received the "The installer is damaged" notification as shown in this topic: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5541793
This screenshot is someone elses, I tried to install audio software.
Based on that error, I contacted the developer of the software. But then I noticed that I got the same error for other developers too.
I tried the solution that the topic starter marked as solving his issue in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5541793. It involves booting in OSX Recovery (command+R) and excecuting the 'resetpassword' command. That did not work for me. It also looks like my password data isn't stored as I do not see the 'obfuscated' password dots that the screenshot shows in that topic, even when I entered and saved it multiple times -- but I'm not sure if that is part of the main issue (which I'm gettting to).
I also made sure gatekeeper allows applications to be installed from unidentified developers, as shown here: http://www.instantteamspeak.com/static/en/img/mac-gatekeeper-anywhere.png That didn't help either.
Next I opened up Disk Utility and ran a check on write permissions. That got me worried.
The check ran for a long time, spitting out "ACL found but not expected" errors.
I proceeded to restore write permissions. That took 20-25 minutes.
Once it finished I checked write permissions again. An equal amount of permissions needed to be restored! It's as if Mavericks didn't remember anything it did.
The good news is that I could now install the files I previously couldn't, but the fact that I've restored write permissions three times now, and each time it seems as if nothing of that is remembered, has gotten me worried.

I then checked the hard disk and the partition above it. The Macintosh HD gave me the green 'ok' light, but something weird happened when I checked the partition on the level above it. When I checked the hard disk for a second and third time, I got 'everything ok' results pretty quickly.

As said, this Mac Mini is brand new. If at some stage anyone would feel the wise thing to do is to return my Mac, please do let me know. There is a 14 day return policy in The Netherlands (on top of other warranties) and I'd rather return it in case of doubt, than end up with technical issues with this machine once I've started working with it. I'm ok with doing some troubleshooting if the machine is fine, but I'd rather not take a gamble with a 1200 € machine under warranty.

Looking for video effects

Hello everyone:
I'm relatively new to Adobe Premiere CS4 (although I have some experience working with digital video). I seemed to have mustered the controls for Premiere itself but what seems to be lacking in my understanding is how to create certain visual effects with it. I'm looking to create a video clip with effects like in this particular video: (Sorry for the link but it's much more easy to show it.)

What I'm looking for is this:
1. The way they have the Id logo expand, shrink and distort in the very beginning.
2. The "broken TV reception", or "TV-snow" effect. Also the effect how they have the picture twitch at some points.
3. The way they implemented titles in the beginning -- "The Union Aerospace Corporation is the largest ..."
I'm not looking for a free solution in particular, so if someone knows some third-party plug-in, or something I can integrate into Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I'm not sure if it's Premiere or After Effects, either. So I apologize if I posted it in a wrong forum.

As for the picture jitter, I'm not sure I saw the appropriate effect for it, but I'll keep looking, maybe I missed something... You said there's an effect for that in AE. I don't really know it that well, so I'm curious, is it possible to take a track from PrPro, send it to AE and then back to PrPro (pretty much like with sound track and Soundbooth)?
Depending on the version of PrPro and whether it's one of the full "suites," you can use Adobe Dynamic Link (DL) to quickly move footage into an AE Comp and back again. Each version of what was once called Production Stuido has improved the function of DL.
Now for the jitter, I seem to recall a plug-in, something like "unsteady cam," or similar. It is just the opposite of "stabilization." Do not recall either the official name, or software company, or even if it was part of an Effects "pack."
Speaking of which, I know it's off topic here, but do you know any idea where can I get some sound effects like in that clip? Maybe even some sound bites/background music/anything.

Audition, SoundBooth, and several other audio editing programs have similar Effects, and many more can be added, such as Reverb and Delay. There are also some free VST plug-ins that do a similar distortion. This GOOGLE Search has yielded a bunch of sites for VST's. Some free and some for a fee.
Again, thanks for your input, you can't imagine how much time you've just saved me... As for the video I'm making, it's supposed to be a fun one. When I'm done with it (hopefully in a couple of weeks) I'll post a link here.

There Is No Picture On Channel 477 & 466 Has A Bad Feed

Channel 477 soy latino tv which was mexicanal has no image at all of the programs that should be there and it is a channel that is not off the air. Right now there are colored bars from the left side to the right side of the channel where the colors are white, yellow, light blue, green, purple, red, dark blue, and black bars where if you are trying to watch things on that channel you can not. Channel 477 also has the wrong schedule on there too so if someone were trying to tape or find out what kind of programs should be on there they can not because the correct schedule is not there. Channel 466 mega tv has a shaky camera look to it and when you set things to tape on there when you fast foward it skips over parts of the program plus when you first go to watch mega tv it pixilates. Supercanal channel 1507 still does not match at all where what the guide claims should be on right now was actually on an hour ago. Channels 481 WRNN RISE and 482 NHK World still have no logos at all in my area.

While i appreciate the effort that is being made by verizon to try to address the problem with channel 477 "soy latino tv" i would like it if those of you who are at verizon actually take a look at the channel to see that nothing with the new schedule that you just put up matches. Before it was a mexicanal lineup that you had and now you have put up the schedule that soy latino tv has on its own website but the problem is that is wrong too. Now i do not want to have to contact that channel to try to fix this problem and am hoping that you can resolve this matter for me. If you are not able to see what it is that is playing on the tv right now then you can watch it online as everything that i am seeing on that channel is the same exact thing that is on their website. If you are paying for access to this new channel then at least you can try to see to it that the content matches what is on the guide or look into the fact of whether the shows that you have on there are from that channel as i have seen a bunch of shows that are on there that should normally be on channel 1701 La Familia Cosmovision Tv. Now i am not sure if you are running the feed that should only be on channel 1701 for channel 477 or if you need to take another look at the schedule that you have been given but i can say this for sure that nothing matches on channel 477 and the same goes for channel 1507 supercanal. Channel 477 did have the correct logo but now it is gone so it has no logo at all. The same goes for channels 481 WRNN Rise and 482 NHK World that do not have any logos at all for the people who are trying to watch those channels in my area. Mega tv still has the same problems that i mentioned before and since i am on the topic of schedules channels 1509,1548,1781 have no schedules.

Slow Stabilize Motion. Any better Premiere plugins?

When I press Proceed Forward after setting my tracking points etc in the Stabilize Motion box in AE, the process proceeds at an extremely slow rate - a few frames per minute. Then, after a while, it picks up, starts playing the video in slow motion, but stops moving around the tracking points. When it does this, the confidence metre is at 100% - even though in reality the feature box has gone off, sometimes way off. And then AE is really slow to responding to my pressing Stop.
I'm running a high-performance machine; Premiere runs great. I realize video playback in AE, which is not optimized for it (that's another thing - even when I turn down the playback res it still says it's not playing back at full 29.97 fps), is maybe gonna be worse, but we're talking molasses slow here with the Stabilize Motion function. I'm trying to get Adobe to upgrade me to 5.5 so I can use the Warp Stabilize function, but so far I'm disappointed with AE's performance, and disappointed with the results of the Stabilize Motion even when it works well (I'm dealing with shaky camera footage). In my old Premiere (circa 2004 - cs2, I guess?) there was a 2d3 Motion stabilizer effect that you could just apply directly to the video. This plugin was a demo, but it worked like a charm - much better results with a few clicks than what I got out of AE after several long attempts.... Apparently 2d3 doesn't offer this for Premiere anymore - or not at least, anyway, without a chunk of money. Well, I just blasted a big chunk of money into the CS5 Production Premium. Maybe I am just impatient with AE stabilization's higher learning curve, but I'm disappointed that Premiere CS5 doesn't have a comparable function as the old Premiere did - a function which was damned easy. Any advice?

The larger the search area the slower the tracker will run. Make sure you're not tracking more than you need to track. In most cases you'll get a better and a much easier to work with track if you use Mocha. It comes with AE and there are a bunch of tutorials out there on how to use it.
Mocha is a planer tracker, AE's tracker is a point tracker. Both have their advantages, but there's nothing that I have found that will track or stabilize with AE's tracker that can't be tracked more accurately in Mocha.

Problems with Bloggie 3d

Just purchased the camera yesterday and was excited till I noticed that the tri-pod mount is on the bottom of the camera and the camera with not take 3d pictures or video unless it is horizontal. This is an unacceptable design flaw.
So I took some still pictures and video at a car club party. The pictures came out good, but the video, even when held to the dash came out shaky cam. I use sony vegas pro 9 so I thought I would try the trial of 10 and post process the results. Vegas stabilized the two frames separately and the zooms and pans in each frame are completely unrelated. At times it looks like they are out of sync because the two frames are panned in different directions.
Is there any recommendations you have or should I just return the camera?

Background I build and race electric vehicles (as in my daily driver is an electric car that does 0-60 in 2.7 seconds). So what I want is race and drifting footage of the car. The car has one permanent camera mount on the roll cage.

I believe we have a solution to your dilemma. Now there is no question the Bloggie must be in Landscape mode to shoot in 3D due to the nature of the lenses, however you can still use a Tripod, Just not a generic one.

Zoom/blur/chaotic effect for a fighting scene

Hi there! I'm an Italian guy, so I'm SORRY for my really bad english. So, I'm a new user of this amazing forum , and I'm new in the "video making art" too, so I will not too ambicious about making video...BUT I would like to make a promotional video for my airsoft Club...and I thought something like that:

I want to be clear: I know that this video is at a pro level...but I only want to know few things about it:
1) at 1:05 we can see a this guy face, and a VERY shaking/chaoting shooting with a uninterrupted zoom in/out on the soldier. You can see this effect for the enitre fighting scene, and I think that they are so cool for a shooting/fighting scene! So: those effects have a particoular name or not? Is a particoular video technique or a post production effect?
2) There is any tutorial/video tutorial to make it?

I could be wrong, but it looks like it was shot using what has be called a "shaky cam" teechnique. I dont beleive it is a post effect we are seeing.
One way to replicate this is to use After Effects expressions to create radom motion on several axis'.
And easier alternative is to use a plug in made by Video Copilot called Twitch. It is used in After Effects not Premiere.

MLB Widget Missing Teams

The major league baseball widget in its national league central standings is having a weird issue where everyday there is a missing baseball team there where it seems as if whoever programmed that widget only programmed it to list no more than five teams in that division when it has six teams in it. The widget will only feature five teams in that division on any given day where yesterday the pittsburgh pirates were missing from there but they are now back but the milwaukee brewers are missing. The other day it was the the st louis cardinals that were missing and last year the chicago cubs were not even listed in that division. Some more problems that need to be looked into are that channels 1507 supercanal and ritmoson 1664 never match what is playing. 1509 tele el salvador and dominican view channel 1548 have no schedules at all where if you were to go to any other website that has the fios guide listed there like tv guide you will see the schedule that should be there for those shows. Mega tv channel 466 still has no logo and it has a shaky camera look to it where it pixilates when you first go there plus when you fast foward a program that you have taped from that channel it skips over entire segments without any images being shown. Abc news now channel 108 still has issues where a lot of what is on there does not match. Channel 108 has a show called healthy living on the guide that is really a show called travel now and a what's the buzz show that is on there is not a texas travel show but a show about celebrity news. There are also issues with movies like "sin" with gary oldman that will next be on channel 360 encore action where there is a blank space on the guide where the next time that it will be on will be on saturday at 12:20am. There is also a movie called "memory" with dennis hopper that has no description for it where it will be on again on sunday at 8:00am on channel 387 and there is still no associated press widget. The AP widget has been missing for almost 2 months now.

Anyone there at verizon care about the customer's concerns or are they all on vacation or strike? The mlb widget problem continues to exist where teams continue to disappear then they reappear on any given day and you still do not have the associated press widget there for people to launch. Some other problems are that nothing matches on channel 1507 supercanal, the channel 1540 cnn espanol 11am show is not listed as an 11am show but instead it is listed as a 11:15am show which means that you miss the first 15 minutes of it and channel 1583 passiones continues to not have shows there at 7am, 8am, 10am and other times throughout the day where what is actually there are paid programs. Msnbc channel 103 at 5am five days a week has a show called first look which is a first look at the news show but what you have there listed is the description for the bloombert tv 12am show which is about linzie janis talking about the stock market. Cnn channel 100 on tuesday mornings is wrong where the 5am-7am show is listed as 5am-6am and the 7am-9am is listed as a 6am-9am show. Mega tv channel 466 still has no logo and the channel still pixilates when you go there plus the images are shaky along with the fact that when you tape a show on there when you fast foward the show it skips over a lot of what you have just taped. Abc news now channel 108 has a show called what's the buzz at 1:15pm & 7:00pm listed wrongly as a texas travel show when it is a celebrity in the news show and the healthy living show that is on at 3:45pm & 6:30pm is not there where what is really there is a show called travel now. 1509 tele el salvador, 1548 dominican view, kuwait tv 1781 do not have any schedules at all but they do exist but you still have not put them up. These are real issues that affect the service of everyone who has fios for their tv no matter what part of the country they are in as the things that i have mentioned are not local issues but national issues for many people.

Premiere CS5 and dynamic link with Affect effects doesn't "sync"

Hi guys, having issues with Pr and Ae CS5 using the dynamic link. I haven't got massive experience using aftereffects, i mainly edit. I doing VFX for a short film ( i know right, deep end..) Its a hand held combat scene.
I'm using action essentials 2 for muzzle flash and explosions. And i'm noticing that when a do tracking (manually, "track motion" doesn't work, due to the shaky camera movement) in After effects, the muzzle flashes are in place and looks great
but when i go back to Premiere to view the clip, its not hitting the same marks in every frame. I export the clip out of Premiere and still the same issue.

Look for the two muzzle flashes up the top right, on the ridge line.

You should do yourself a favor (Not meant with disrespect) and take a few hours and REALLY get down and dirty with Dynamic Link between PP and AE.
I use it all the time and it litterally saves me 10+ hours of work on EACH project which is typical between 70 and 300 clips.
In fact, I dont know how I'd do withouth DL.
At first it seems cumbersome, yes. But that is only until you get to know it...
I will cut the whole project in PP. Then save it.
Then in AE, I'll choose "Import PP Project " --- That will open my whole PP project in AE on SEPERATE layers (One layer per Clip).. Ready to CC.
I dont have to render a thing from PP.
If I need to, I'll use the AE Script "Pre Compose" to make an individual composition of each layer.
AE is just about the greatest app I have EVER seen on ANY computer ! Hands Down
Does not get ANY faster than that.
