Shall i update my N96 to V30?

Hey People
Shall i update? as all im after is the audio theme?
Help

I would always keep my phone´s FW up to date, since updates bring more benefits than new bugs (expections confirm the rule!)

  • N96 Software v30.033 Battery and Calendar Problems

Earlier this month I upgraded the software on my Nokia N96 to v30.033. Prior to this my battery life was sufficient to get me through an entire day.
Since I upgraded, the battery life has dropped, and now by 5pm I'm down to 4 bars. I have not increased how much I use the phone. I have also checked that all the options for wi-fi, bluetooth and other things that use a lot of power are as they were prior to the update (in case any of them had been reset). I have even gone as far as to replace the battery, thinking that it might just be my original battery wearing out, but none of these have solved the problem.
Has anyone else encountered this and how did you solve it?
The second problem is to do with the calendar. Prior to the update it would display the next 5-6 entires in my calendar, no matter how far in the future they were. Now it will only display 2, and only if they are happening either today or tomorrow. Does anyone know how to change it back to the way it was?
Finally, how do you turn off the bloody annoying "swoosh" noise the phone makes now when you slide it open?

I haven't notices a big change in power consumption, but I am a heavy user and I always have the phoen on charge whrn I'm in the car, so maybe that's why.
The (I agree with you) annoying noise can be shut off as follows:
Menu>Tools>Settings>General>Personalisation>Themes>Audio themes>Phone handling events and then change both opening slide and closing slide to 'silent'.

  • Shall I update my memory to 32G (4x 8G) with DDR3 1600 Hz

If I want to update my computer hardware, shall I update memory to 32G (4x 8G) with DDR3 1600 Hz or the computer computer just only support DDR3 1333 Hz with maxium 4G RAM?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The Mid 2011 iMac needs 1333 MHz DDR3 memory, so you have to install 1333 MHz memory. 1600 MHz memory isn't supported on your computer.
You can buy more RAM at OWC or Crucial. Apple supports 16 GB of memory officially, so it's possible that 32 GB of memory won't work even if they have been tested by other sources

  • Create a new web application, how shall I update the file server.xml

    Hi,
I will create a new web application, i.e named newApp. Then I create a file structure as follows:
    - <server-root>/newApp
    - <server-root>/newApp/WEB-INF
    - <server-root>/newApp/WEB-INF/classes
Then I must tell the server that I have created a new web application. Then I must update my file server.xml, How shall I do this and where in the file shall I type in the new information?
I use windows XP Pro, and Tomcat 4.1.27.
My server.xml file looks like below:

    * Download and install JSSE 1.0.2 or later, and put the JAR files

By default, DNS lookups are enabled when a web application calls
request.getRemoteHost(). This can have an adverse impact on
performance, so you can disable it by setting the
"enableLookups" attribute to "false". When DNS lookups are disabled,
request.getRemoteHost() will return the String version of the
IP address of the remote client.

To use servlets u have indeed to update your web.xml...Well I'm not sure this is relevant to your case anyway.
You have to add a <servlet> element to this file.
    Something like this:
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>blabla</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>blablapackage.Blablaclass</servlet-class>
    <init-param>...</init-param>
    </servlet>
Now this may not solve your problem. Make sure you refer to your servlets using their full qualified names.btw, just to be sure, what is your definition of "servlet"? (i mean: any java class or only javax.servlet.Servlet)

  • Can't update my N96 firmware

I have downloaded Nokia Software Updater for my N96, when I run the program it says my current firmware is 10.065 and that an update of 11.101 is available. I have downloaded the 115mb update, everytime I start the update process it never gets past saying 15 minutes to go, then it goes into phone recovery mode. I can never get past this point. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program but this has not worked. During the time it trys to update the firmware it sounds like the phone disconnects from the computer a number of times. I am running Windows XP on my laptop and using the latest version of Nokia Software Updater. Can somebody please help me?
Message Edited by better61 on 27-Oct-2008 11:58 AM

Must say..i have my K700i which still seemlesly connect to PC on bluetooth as a remote and works like a charm. Syncs with all PC softwares and keeps me updates.
Nokia advertised DVB-H in N96 which is just useless in UK. Then coming to Navigation ... well They have got technology but they are making it useless when not providing API functions for programmers. I have not seen any good coding practice for Media Player on Nokia Phones. Last time I played an FLV file on Nokia and it went straight to media player where I am not allowed to create playlist or even ask it to search for Stored video files.
Menus and Settings are so customized and blocked by service providers that most of you might have not noticed but when even I click centre button about 76% of time it goes to another menu and I have to come back.
During driving you should be able to go on handsfree or loudspeaker with press of at most two buttons. If you are using an application you have to come to main screen to switch on loud speaker which is not a good thing as this phone has got about 8 buttons which can be easily configured to provide such functionality with just single press (or keep press for 5 seconds)
Anyways I think there are better programmers and coders present with SE than Nokia and when Nokia decided using OpenSource Symbian it should respect OpenSource developers and help them to develop things and ideas. Nokia focus on opportunities to advertise and create communities to discuss problems rather than releasing hassle-free product. Why cant Nokia sort out its already released handsets first and then go for any new ones. Afterall when they release new handset they make an impression that previous one was just **bleep** and you should pay a little more to get this one. I think this will become a term for Nokia - Next only Known investing Asinine (The only known next foolish thing to spend your money on) The rest of them you might know after spending but this one for sure.

I have attached log file for your further help.
I have to uninstall it and reinstall it every.
Mail For Exchange Error -15032 is one of the errors.
Hope to hear very positive from you.

I think the only thing you can try now is a hard reset. Unfortunately it means that all the data in your phone's internal memory (C: drive) is lost, so unless you've done a backup recently...
With the phone switched off, press simultaneously the 3, * and green 'call' buttons. Keep them pressed in and switch the phone on. Do not release them until you see signs of life such as the Nokia logo or the region selection screen.
It may take somewhat flexible fingers and more than one attempt to do this.
If it doesn't solve the problem then your only course of action is to take your phone in to your local Nokia Care Point.

  • I have a iMac purchased in april of 2011.  I have OS 10.8.5 .  What shall I update to?  Maverick?  Any help about this will be appreciated.  Thank you!

    I have an iMac Operating System 10.8.5   12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3   3.2 GHZ intel Core i3.
I'd like to upgrade to Maverick. Can someone help me with finding the right download for this and how to install it?

What would an upgrade do for me?
This is an overview of the Yosemite operating system: OS X Yosemite - Overview
Here are some reviews on Yosemite:
Bottom line: Should you upgrade to OS X Yosemite ...
    OS X Yosemite: Don't think twice, upgrade from OS X 10.9 ...

  • Using Photoshop CS6 - shall I update to Yosemite?

I have read that some users experience brush lags in Photoshop CS6, and some others report their dialog windows opening up partly outside the screen.
I don't want to use Adobe CC for now.
Is it safe to upgrade to Yosemite or should I rather stay on Mavericks as long as possible?
    Thanks!

FWIW, I have been using Photoshop CS6 and Yosemite for quite some time
now without issue.  It is being used on a late 2013, 27", 3.2GHz iMac with
32GB of RAM and an attached Thunderbolt display.  This may or may not have
a bearing on the lack of issues.

  • Shall I update iMovie '08 to iMovie '11?

I'm interested in downloading iMovie '11 from the new App store for £8.99 as I like the idea of the new features it offers. However, I've heard mixed reviews about it and I am unsure if I can hop from iMovie 08' straight to iMovie '11 on my system? (Mac OS X 10.6.6)
    Can someone help please?

Is it worth upgrading to iMovie '11?
Yes, you will like iMovie 11 much better than iMovie 08 (still not as good as iMovie 06, but, it's what we got).
from the new App store for £8.99
I would buy iLife 11 on disc.
I have found that the physical possession of the software on a DVD or CD is a better way to go. There have been many times when I have needed to reinstall software and the software is no longer available online for any amount of money.
In the event you have a computer problem and must rebuild your system or reinstall software, it is always easier to do so if you have the physical media in your possession. Later, if you uninstall the software from your computer you can usually sell the disc when you upgrade.
Look at all of the Mac users who pay upwards of $100 for iLife 06, just so they can get a copy of iMovie 06.
Maybe I'm just old-fashioned (I go back to the paper tape days for program storage). I want to hold the software in my hand.

  • N96 V30.033 Power Saver Problems

    Hi there,
I've just recently updated my N96 to V30.033 and now the power saver does not seem to work properly.
I have an .swf animation set in the Power Saver options (power save timeout set to 30 secs). After 30 secs when it tries to go into power save, the animation comes up briefly, and then comes out of power save (back to the standby screen. or whatever screen you had open last).
It will just keep doing this in a loop.
It used to work on the last firmware, any ideas?
The only way to stop this is not to use an animation.
    Thanks.

Binx:This is definitly one of the problems comin directly from the firmware, because it used to work for me before as well and now all of a sudden with this **bleep** firmware, we are back to triangle of worst firmwares (V10, V11, V30)............
