Shall NOKIA | Yahoo! email (Ovi mail) be discontin...

I'm wondering, whether my *@ovi.com email address will stop working in a few months.

Abi99 wrote:
Why?
Because Microsoft will soon buy Nokia, and Ovi mail is powered by Yahoo!, not MIcrosoft.

All email service providers have a size limit on sending an email.  See the following link for info on yahoo mail's file size restrictions, and ensure you are within this restriction.

  • Problems accessing Yahoo email with Mail on iMac

Hi, I can happily access my emails from Yahoo using my iPhone and iPad. However, neither my MacBook Pro or my iMac (both running Mavericks) can access my emails using "Mail". I can use Webmail on Safari ok, but whenever I try to access Yahoo mail with "Mail", I get a message saying I should re-enter my password, or that the Server is unavailable. I have 2 stage authorisation activated, and "Keychain", and I had to enter a special 'Yahoo-generated' password to allow my iOS units to work. However, each time I use my OSX units, an email says an unauthorised attempt to access my mails has been made.
I've tried deleting the account and reinstalling and rebooting etc, to no avail. I think that Yahoo needs to authorise the iMac and Macbook, but I can't work out how to do it.

Ive found the solution to this problem. Its the secondary sign in system used at Yahoo for unauthorised sign-ins. While its possible to authorise an iPad or iPhone using a special one off password, this cannot be done on a desk top. The simple solution is to switch off the secondary security sign-in option.

  • Syncing Yahoo email and Mail

    Hi there,
just wondering if its possible to some how sync Mail with Yahoo email account... that is... I have an elaborate folder setup on Yahoo, I'd like it so that if I use Yahoo email account and and create new folders that when I get home and use Mail, Mail syncs the folder structure to the yahoo structure, without me manually intervening... my Yahoo email is already set up so I can receive/send mail through Mail... its just the syncing part that somehow annoys me... I guess if this is possible for Yahoo, it would be possible for all other web mail accounts?

The 'secret' to mail synchronization, if there is one, is the use of IMAP technology, as opposed to the more common use of POP3.
If your Yahoo account supports IMAP, you're set. If it does not, it will not be possible to 'synchronize' your mail content or Yahoo mailbox structures.

  • Yosemite latest update has broken yahoo email from mail.app. Emails won't collect or send. Tried deleting the yahoo account, now I can't re-add it - "an unknown error has occurred"

Did the latest update to Yosemite last night. All day my mail has played up. Either it won't collect email from IMAP for long periods, or sent emails would just sit in outbox then send them periodically.
I've now tried deleting and re adding the account. But it won't re add correctly - I either get "an unknown error has occurred" when I try and add it as a "Yahoo" account, and if I try adding it as "other email account" it syncs up around 300 email messages and then won't work.
Please help, email is a vital cog in my day to day Mac use.
    Thanks

This worked for me for my Yahoo.

  • Cannot send emails from Mail- using yahoo email - please help!!

I'm having major problems with my yahoo email in Mail. No matter what settings i seem to use, any emails i send take hours and hours to arrive. I seem to be receiving email, but cannot send- sometimes i get an error message, other times they go into sent box but take hours or days to arrive. i'm using a brand new imac version 10.5.2

    Hello Fred.
If you’re sure your settings are exactly the same as on the computers where it works, here a couple of things that you may want to look at.
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list.
Also, try using a different method to connect to Internet, if possible, or connecting the computer to Internet as directly as possible, i.e. bypassing any routers that might be present, using an ethernet cable instead of wireless, etc., and see whether that makes a difference.
Mail keeps information about outgoing servers in a separate list, independently of any specific mail account. The account settings just associate one of the available outgoing servers with each account. Orphaned or dangling outgoing server entries (i.e. not associated with any account) sometimes cause weird sending problems.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Account Information > Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), choose Edit Server List from the popup menu, and delete any servers that shouldn’t be there. The Edit Server List panel shows the account each outgoing server is associated with.

  • Nokia C3-00 - Cant set up my Yahoo email account? ...

    Hi
I recently bought the Nokia C3-00 on Vodafone but asked them to unlock it so that I could use my exisitng O2 contract.
I want to set up my Yahoo email account, but Im having great difficulty!
When I initially put my O2 sim card in, they sent me the settings for MMS and Web.  I can get on the internet and I can access Facebook, but I cant seem to access the Nokia Ovi Store or set up my Yahoo email account.
I watched this http://www.youtube.com/user/nokiasupportvideos#p/u/15/lTlWUH5EqMw Nokia Support Video on Youtube but my menu looks different to the one in the video!   When I click on the Mail icon on the Menu screen I have a message appear saying 'No mailbox created. Set up mail now?'  If I click 'Yes' It says 'Use an existing mail address?' to which I also say 'Yes' and proceed to emter my email address, etc.  Should this be happening as I notice in the video that Yahoo Mail is one of the options in the video, however as I have said I do not have that screen!
    Can someone please help!?
    Thanking you in advance!

  • Ovi mail web access interaction with Yahoo groups

Ovi mail is powered by Yahoo mail, and I have one Yahoo account solely for use with ovi mail.  I have another Yahoo account for accessing (a lot of) Yahoo groups.  I can't have a web interface up for both on the same computer at the same time because they interact and want to use the same account.  If I start Yahoo groups first, then start Ovi mail and log in, the Yahoo Groups window changes to the Ovi mail Yahoo account.  Nokia, ask Yahoo to fix this, please!  Cheers and TIA!

    Hi Alex,
Please check the AdminCount value in Attribute Editor tab for this ArchiveMail account. Confirm if it is set to 1 which indicates that this user is a protested account which is protected by AdminSDHolder.
If that it the case, please clear the value for this attribute and check whether the issue persist.

  • Ovi mail migrated to yahoo ... unable to read emai...

Anyone else experiencing this problem in firefox 4 and ie8 ? I can log into the ovi mail account which is now powered by yahoo but i cant seem to open up the emails although they are being recieved and the inbox is updated i just cant access them.

Hey even I was facing the same issue. Was really **bleep** untill i Found out this post :
Do you click on them to open them in the web UI, and a tab appears but the contents of the tab are blank?  That is a known issue seen by some users.
Yahoo is deploying a fix for it, which should be rolled out to all users in about a week.  Before that, here are some workarounds:
    - Go to http://m.yahoo.com (their mobile site) to read your mail.  That seems to work.
    - Read your email on a PC mail client connected through POP (see settings here http://support.ovi.com/osc/en_GB/faq/FA134976_en_US)
    - Read your email on your phone.
    - Disconnect from Facebook, if connected to it.  That fixes it for some, but not all, users.  Do that with these steps:
        * Go to mail.ovi.com and login
        * Now browse to pulse.yahoo.com to get to Yahoo Pulse (Yahoo’s social stuff)
        * Click on Settings (top right) and then "Manage my linked accounts"
        * See what shows up there. Does it show that Facebook is still linked? If so, please unlink it.
        * Then log out & back in again and see if things work OK.
Also go to ur facebook account and under privacy tab> applications permissions> remove yahoo.
even though u havent linked your ovi and facebook, still its good if u try and find out the remedy to this annoying issue...

  • Yahoo email not syncing with Nokia messaging - Pre...

I have been using nokia messaging beta version for approximately 3 weeks and it has worked perfectly for all my e-mail Yahoo and Gmail. As of yesterday my Yahoo (free) e-mail stopped syncing e-mails. I went to the website email.nokia.com and checked my password but I receive the following message when trying to update the password: "Unable to connect with the password provided. Please try again.". Please note I have not changed my password I was only trying make sure everything was correct.
My Gmail seems to still work but no Yahoo. I have gone as far as deleting all my accounts on the phone and deleting Nokia email software via the app installer and reinstalled NOkia email. The phone synced my accounts setting them up and syncing all the messages up until yesterday which is exactly when it stopped working. I'm at a loss at this point. I'm also unable to delete the yahoo account on email.nokia.com website since its my default acct. Any ideas??
Could it be a yahoo issue? Anybody else have this issue?

    Found these on another site:
I can’t receive any push mails via google mail. is the service down?

I have been using the Nokia email client on my E90 for the last few days. Today Yahoo mail started giving me a problem. Whenever I send an email I am getting a Delivery Status Notification (failure)
    535 authorization failes (#5.7.0)
I went in to my email.nokia account just to re-enter the password for my yahoo account, and now I even that is throwing the following error “Unable to connect with the password provided. Please try again.”
Is there some problem connecting to Yahoo?
I am able to log on to this yahoo account on my PC and send and recieve mails without any issue.
    Thanks,
    Amar

This is really bad. I have tried and installed Nokia Email countless times. But it refuses to sync, I don’t even receive error messages. I have even tried to log on to emai.nokia.com to check and reset my account settings.
Solution for now; I have installed Profimail, it works like a dream. Downside is that it does not sync my Gmail contacts and I think the Nokia interface looks better.
I will continue to keep an eye on any new patches/versions of Nokia Email but as of today, this software should never have been allowed to graduate. Let alone even thinking of charging people for it.

  • Nokia E5 Yahoo Email can not setup for Nokia Messa...

    Hi
I have added my hotmail through email.nokia.com successfully, and on my phone as well, everything working fine.  When I tried to add my Yahoo mail on email.nokia.com, it says I have to add it on my Phone.
I added on the phone, same process as my Hotmail. Yahoo email did get setup on my phone, but only works when I open it, and it will try to get new mails, as soon as I close it, it will disconnect, so not a real push mail. So it's still not showing under email.nokia.com after I setup on my phone.
Any idea? I bought this mobile because of this, if it's not working, I def need find a way to refund and get Blackberry
    Thanks

Ahhh after some research and trail and error.. (hours of it)... I got a work around!!! I tried it for gmail and it works fine now!! Below is what you do:-
On inital stage please type dont type correct yahoo, gmail, hotmail or other email ID "
for example if ur id is ****@hotmail.com that type ****@abc.com insted of hotmail. and correct it on second stage.
Go to Mail on your phone  - Options - Settings -  scroll down to email - Options - New Mailbox
Click - start and then NO to allow connections (that stops Nokia Messaging swinging into control)
Now enter your hotmail address except do not put @hotmail.com at the end.  Put @abc.com
e..g. if you email is *****@hotmail.com then enter mailto:*****@abc.com
Now enter your password - press OK
Now you will get an OPTION to define settings and it will allow you to manually set the POP3 or IMAP
Now put in your correct email id and passwd while setting the IMAP. for gmail use the following >
Enter 'imap.gmail.com' as the incoming mail server, Select 'SSL/TLS' for your security (ports) and define your port as '993.'
Enter 'smtp.gmail.com' as the outgoing mail server,Select 'StartTLS' for your security (ports) and define your port as '587.'
Save it... and you will say Wow!!! that worked!!!
    Atleast it worked for me!!!
Try this out... hope this helps!!!

  • My OVI Mail locked by Yahoo :@

    Hi,
I have been using an OVI mail for my small business since a year or so with small but bearable problems, My business is not that old that's why I defined a very recent Date of Birth when signing up for that account. But when OVI mail got powered by Yahoo, they locked my account assuming that it's a child's account. I can access it from Outlook though but cannot from the web. Below is the text from Yahoo:
"Please get your mom or dad!
Note for Parents and Legal Guardians:This account is locked due to the birth date that was entered at registration or the age given on one of the account's Public Profiles.
In accordance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, Yahoo! must recognize all accounts with a birth date that indicates the user is a child, and we must receive parental consent before allowing such accounts to be opened and used. This account was not created with parental consent.
To create a new Yahoo! ID for your child, we need to collect certain personal information about him or her. We require your consent for the collection, use, and disclosure of this information. You can give this consent by setting up a Yahoo! Family Account.
If you're setting up a Family Account for the first time, we'll need a major credit card for age verification. You will not be charged!
If you are (MY EMAIL [email protected]'s parent, and would like to help your child create a new Yahoo! ID:
Create a Family Account for your child and add yourself as the parent.
Please read our Yahoo! Privacy Policy to learn more about how we treat information about your child, and our Online Safety Tips for keeping your child safe.
Hi (MY EMAIL)@ovi.com,You need your parent or guardian's permission to use Yahoo!. Please find your mom or dad and show them this screen.
    Parents not there right now?
Check out the cool stuff at Yahoo! Kids.
If you're an adult, you or someone in your family may have used a child's birth date when signing up for Yahoo!. For security reasons, it is Yahoo!'s policy not to alter the birth date listed in our users' account information. If you would like to create a new account with the correct birth date, please feel free to do so."
Can someone kindly explain me W.T.F is that? Hundreds of my clients have this Email address and I don't wanna create a new ID. I badly need help. Is creating a new ID the only option? If so, then I have to say goodbye to OVI and Yahoo mail.

@mysterious1 - OK, thanks for the update.  I'm going to ask around to see if we can fix this going forward, for you and others.  One other question--was 1/1/2000 the exact date of birth you chose when you setup the account?  Partially, I'm just curious.
Just FYI - New Ovi accounts can't be created with a date of birth indicating you are < 13 years old. But it seems like we could handle existing accounts with such a date of birth better.

  • Custom Email accounts on X3-02 Ovi Mail Applicatio...

I can only find the option to set up Hotmail, Yahoomail, gMail and Ovi Mail on the Mail application for the X3-02.
Does anyone know how to add your own IMAP or POP3 accounts to this list?

I have exactly the same issue. I bought the phone in the end of October last year as it had IMAP support, which is all I need for my e-mail purposes. I set up my account, and everything was working fine.
Then one day (in the beginning of December as I recall), Nokia decided to update the e-mail application. It no longer supported IMAP, and my account was unaccessible as the service was no longer supported. That made me very disappointed, and I expressed my disappointment in a feedback survey Nokia sent out.
After a while, there was a new version of the OS out. Hooray, I thought - this must be the answer to my problems! I connected my phone and started the update process. I should never have done that.
The updater crashed constantly, claiming that it had lost connection with the device (although it was physically connected to the computer with the USB cable). My device was left in a state between the two operating systems, and was thus unusable. After many attempts (20+), however, I managed to get through the update within the amount of connection-losses and retries allowed by the updater.
The result was horrible. Everything had been deleted and not restored. I am not talking about photos, contacts etc - I am talking about browser app, ovi store app, calculator app, e-mail client, standard themes, ringtones, settings etc. I dared not reinstall the device due to the extreme difficulty.
Since then, the phone crashed frequently (every 3rd time it received a message for example). The sound quality of calls was horrible, and it would drop the connection spontaneously. Any personalisation carried out (home screen setting, shortcut bar and shortcut menu) would be wiped upon a restart of the device.
I went to a Nokia store, and got told they couldn't help me - and that I had to go to a service centre 20 miles away.
Today, the homescreen customisation stopped working out of the blue, and I decided I'd had enough. I tried to reinstall the phone again, and after just two attempts it worked! I quickly opened the email client, and to my delight found the 'other' option back in business! However, it does no longer incorporate IMAP or POP3, and is thus completely useless and obsolete.
Great... This is definitely my last Nokia.

  • Cannot send mail from yahoo email account.

I recently developed a problem with sending messages through the ipad mail app. The primary server is Yahoo! SMTP Server with the SSL use on and port 465 open. However the hostname isn't specific. Just says "Yahoo! SMTP Server". I can't access it to change it so I made a second one below it as outbound.att.net because on AT&T website they changed the smtp settings. The outgoing mail port # is still the same...465 and I read online to change to 25 if the account is a business yahoo email but mine isn't and the ipad froze on me while attempt to verify. Can someone help me sort this out? I only have this issue when I'm on the actual data plan and I'm on the go.

Not sure about yahoo, but for gmail, I done the following:
Set up using Exchange on iPhone, it'll keep prompting for password.  On PC use captcha option, log in to gmail account from PC after completingg captcha option, enter password on iPhone.
See how that goes for gmail, let us know.
Hopefully someone will have fix for yahoo.
