SHAMEFUL issue on a 6230i

Apparently, YOU CAN TRASH THIS PHONE COMPLETELY BY JUST SENDING AN MMS.
This is what happened to me. I took a photo, chose "send as MMS", and my phone immediately rebooted itself. Since then, I am now unable to use the phone because it reboots immediately right after powering it on; as soon as it powers on it tries to send the MMS (as shown by the rotating clip icon) and something causes it to reboot in an endless loop. If I turn the phone on without a SIM card, it look PERFECTLY operating, too bad you CAN'T DO A FREAKING THING without a SIM; you can't enter the menu and you can't choose the factory reset option.
And NO ONE OF THE HARD RESET CODES WORK. Don't mention *#7370# or *#7780# or turn-it-on-while-pressing-call+3+*; NO ONE OF THESE WORK!!!
Since the phone is out of warranty, I took it to a local AUTHORIZED repair shop and they were unable to do anything. Now my last chance is Nokia itself, failing that I'll have to dump the phone, all my data already lost, and ALL MY ACCESSORIES since for some all-too-well-obvious reason NOKIA KEEPS CHANGING THE CONNECTORS FOR NO VALID REASON ON EARTH.
I've worked in IT for 15 years now and I had never seen something like this happening. It's completely preposterous to be forced to pay, let alone buy a new phone and accessories, just because you've USED the thing for what it's meant to do. To be honest, Nokia should repair the phone for free and/or replace it with a refurbished one.
What's sure is that my next phones will not be Nokia anymore.
NEXT TIME DON'T FORGET TO PUT IN A **bleep** HARD RESET ROUTINE!
If any of you guys have some secret code or procedure, other than the ones I've mentioned and which don't work, to help me out, please do.
And please forgive this venting, but things like these really make me mad.

@fridaychild

correct they will never work either
this is an old out of date model and can be purchased as refurbs now which are still popular.
you should remember to back up all your data on pc/suite this will prevent data loss in the future.
What's sure is that my next phones will not be Nokia anymore.

if your next phone will not be nokia which by the way have reset codes now ,why come in here with that attitude and rant.
the best thing is to send it to a nokia care point have it looked at and pay the price your warranty is up the phone is outdated full stop.
you can however for now try remove the battery and mmc card for a few minutes and try restart the phone and see if it helps
as you say at the end excuse the venting any phone can go wooopsie at any time and its just the way these things happen even with the latest phones out today which are very much more expensive.
So try the above and let us know also if you do get the phone on empty out your messages and delete unwanted items and back up if possible.
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.
Now using the Lumia 1520

  • Muting problem between 6230i and carkit CK-20W

    Hello,
I set up a new CK-20W carkit in my car, and I would like to use it with 6230i. The bluetooth connection works well for handsfree mode talking, but I can't use the phone as music player via car kit to hear in car stereo. The voice appear only in additional loudspeaker. The stereo cable is plugged properly between the car kit and the stereo head unit, and I set the car kit stereo mode.
The second problem with the car kit is the muting function. When the phone is connected via bluetooth to the car kit, the muting function is always works when the mobile makes any voice (for example keypad lock/unlock). This should be worked at incoming/outgoing calls only.
Has anybody some idea for these problems?
    Thanks,
    harobi

I have an explanation for both of your issues.
The 6230i has no A2DP implemented, you cannot hear the stereo sound over Bluetooth.
Anyway over pop-port this should work. The issue is an installation issue. You have installed a funny mix which is causing you headaches now :-)
It is better to decide either for mono or stereo mode. If you connect the stereo lines to you car radio and even additionally the speaker the carkit senses the speaker and you experience what you have.
I guess you want it all over the car radio. OK.
Disconnect the speaker, you don´t need it. Make sure the carkit powers down, the input device LED must switch off. The re-start CK-20W. Now the carkit does NOT sense the speaker and will guide all your audio to the stereo lines regardless if vioce (then in mono of course) or stereo.
The Mute problem is easier to solve. Go to your Profiles in the phone. For example, in your HANDSFREE Profile just disable all tones which you do not want to cause Mute signal. Then you can select as you like.

  • CK-7W and 6230i only connects via bluetooth

I have installed the carkit ck-7w and the phoneholder MBC-15S, but the only way my phone will connect to the carkit is via the bluetooth. When I put the phone in the holder (MBC-15S and the datacable)it starts charging but doesn't route the microphone or speaker to the carkit. The symbol that indicates a connection to the carkit (the symbol of a little car) does not appear. I have tried to replace the headunit of the carkit and the datacable, but without success. I also assume that the holder (MBC-15S) is not the problem because the problem is still there when the datacable is connected directly into the 6230i. Replacing the phone with an identical 6230i itself doesn't resolve anything, so I assume the 6230i isn't the source of the problem.
Does anyone know a solution to this problem?
Have anyone experienced a similar scenario?
Could it be a software issue regarding the 6230i?

Hi! Just wanted to share the solution to my previously described problem.
It turned out that the CK-7W carkit wouldn't work properly as a result of an extension CAT-5 cable. During the installation ut turned out that the cable that runs from the phoneholder (MBC-15S) to the CK-7W was too short, so I decided to use an extension cable. The extension cable was an ordinary CAT-5 cable with 8P8C plugs in both ends, approximatly 50 cm long, connected to a free standing socket witch allows a 8P8C plug to inserted in both ends, making it possible to plug the male ends from the original datacable to the aftermarket CAT-5 plug(8P8C plug) together.
I removed the CAT-5 cable and used only the original datacable and the problem was solved.
I tested the CAT-5 cable and the free standing socket in a computer and everyting worked fine. So I guess there was nothing wrong with my aftermarket cable equipment.

  • 6230i Contact search problem(Sim related issue?)

    Hello
I have purchased a Nokia mobile phone model number 6230i.I have a query to clarify. While I am searching a contact in my phone book I could not find out the exact contact name.
    for example:
I have a contact 'Johny' in my sim. While I am searching for this cotact by typing 'JO' the phone shows 'no match'. I feel the problem is with the case sensitivity of the name. ie. If the name is saved as 'JOHNY' I could simply locate the name by typing 'JO' in the edit box. But the same model phone with my friend doesn't has this problem and it works
    fine.
I heard it is a sim card related issue. If so can I solve this problem by a software update?
    Dinraj Nair.

    Hi,
If this is a problem with your sim card, then I dont think it can be fixed by a software upgrade (as there is nothing to upgrade on a Simcard apart from hardware). My 6230i doesnt have this problem.
You can get cheap simcards now, and your operator should be able to transfer your number to the new card.

  • Nokia 6230i + IrDA connectivity issues

I'm trying to connect 6230i to my laptop thru' IrDA port. The first time I installed Nokia PC Suite, i got the connection and transferred my files.
Some time later, after rebooting the machine, when i try to connect, I get the following error.
"Cannot use the connection type. Check that all hardware, software and drivers are available (Code: OpenMedia)"
and the Infrared check box is not selected in the Connection Manager window. If I try selecting the checkbox, I get the same error.
    Pls. advice

Same problem, when i click the checkbox Infrared i get the error message: "cannot use the connection type. check that all the needed hardware, software and drivers are available. (code: OpenMedia)"
A time ago, i was installed, the version 68 of nokia pc suite and it did work fine.
    (I did a disk-format and a re-installation of windows XP sp2)
Today, i was installed the version 682 and did not work, i first uninstall this, and came back to the 68 version and it not work.
I'm sure that if i now format and reinstall the system, then install the version 68 it will work, but we must do that without formating the disk everytime, ah? help me please, any suggestion will be appreciated.
pd: my phone is a nokia model 6020
    thanks

  • 6230i gprs logon issue

I have downloaded the software to access GPRS but every time I now try and access, it tries 'connecting' and then gives up and goes back the 'web options' folder. Can anyone advise what I am doing wrong, thanks?Message Edited by mark07 on 28-Jul-200709:31 PM

    Hi mark07
Unfortunately although you may have correct WEB and MMS settings, you do need to set up GPRS manually by creating a preferred access point.
There is a very good description for setting up on Nav4all:

  • Creative in the dock over driver issues for older cards and upsetting consumers please read!

To Who this may concern at TOP LEVEL AT Creative's Board It's come to my attention to a very serious issue From Creative, and the story starts from here.
I have just required the Audigy 2 ZS Sound Card so looking to install the latest drivers from CREATIVE'S UK WEBSITE. So I look into the date which is 9/4/200 on Creative's website. However I did abit more investigating into the issues from other consumer's from passed half soaked drivers that Creative are supposed to put right with their half asleep development team(what a joke!!).
AS I did more research? on this issue on the forums and hardware websites, it came across to my attention on a Brazilian I. T. Expert called Daniel Kawakami (surprisesurprise and I don't suppose Creative know anything about him other than trying to kick him the balls for his work to help others with their sound cards very good PR work Creative well done!!!!).So armed with all this information and believe me I have gone into alot of reading in the forums about the issues, and yes Creative Board Of Directors you are entitled to your Copy Rights, for now !!!
So I find out more about this super hero Daniel Kawakami? to Creative's miss givings to put right the Drivers for Consumers let down by Creative, I came across one of the driver updates for the Audigy 2 ZS Sound Card done by Daniel Kawakami, and Bingo most consumer's now have a working drivers by him.
So for all the hard work and precious time this Daniel Kawakami has done for Creative Consumers(including me) YOU SELFISH CREATIVE BOARD OF DIRECTOR'S go and kick him the face, so I will say this to you what about his rights as a creative product consumer? ,his driver copy rights and on top that his right to put things right that your team cannot put right in the first place. This is the EXACT PEOPLE WE NEED IN THIS HIGHLY COMPLICATED IT INDUSTRY, so what do you do you try and do, you bin him.
So Creative I am going to ask some questions and I EXPECT YOU TO ANSWER THEM with me as a CONSUMER OF YOUR PRODUCTS(customer is King not you!!)
    1. The drivers you realised on the 9th April 200 are working drivers for the Audigy 2 zs for windows 7 ultimate.
    2. So how can you convince me that they are working?
    3. At the moment I can only trust Daniel Kawakami's? working drivers, since he has had over whelming praise for his work. What makes me think I can trust you with your drivers.
    4. Your Drivers came out on the 9/4/200, Daniel Kawakami's Drivers came out on 9/4/200 its too close a call, since your development Team are too lazy to put things right, how can you convince me that you did not copy his Drivers into your download Driver website(I would not be surprised if you did, as it would certainly be a cost cutting exercise ,and taking away his copy rights for all the work he has done for nothing!!!)
    5. Are you going to treat customer and consumers better service and support? in the Future, and that includes me,and 3rd party developers like Daniel Kawakami .
The concussion to all of this, there are lessons to be learned by you Creative for your mis givings and the treatment of customers passed and present and especially the appalling treatment of Daniel Kawakami ,this guy deserves far better for his talent. I Have one message for the President Of Creative ,don't you EVER think you can scare me as a customer and also as Registered? disabled deaf person ,and for that reason I have far more powers you will ever have. For what I have read I am so angry and dismayed when someone like Daniel Kawakami is only trying help others ,but to be treated in this way.
It is only right for me to post this ,because You Creative have hurt? alot people and that includes me. I look forward to the comments and p.m.(if I get any) And Daniel Kawakami? I hope you do read this and all the best for the future ,keep doing what you do ,and once again Creative you should be holding your heads in Shame.
    Regards Jonoace U.k.

    Problemas de memoria superior a 4 gb e tantos outros que Creative no tem respostas;
    Chega a ser vergonhoso que placas onboard como realtek funcionem melhor que placas Creative;
Realmente, antes era um sonho e orgulho possuir um produto CREATIVE, tornou-se um pesadelo e uma vergonha.
Mas enfim o que fazer, apenas esperar um momento de honestidade por parte de Creative.
Flavio Kern - Audigy 2 ZS
Creative will never respond. So it would be fair if Creative would publish his inability to speak and that even where the plates Audigy would work in Vista and 7. But by incompetence, since neither her new adapter works right, if it was to sell is poorly. Problems of memory above 4 gb, and so many others that Creative does not have answers; Daniel and Pax Drivers are alternati'ves, but which also has many limitations. I honestly think this time Creative come publico do a serious story, and describe clearly the limitations of your cards by putting an end-point on expectations, frustrations and forgeries. It is shameful that onboard realtek cards like that boards Creative work better; Actually, before it was a dream and pride have a CREATIVE product, became a nightmare and a shame. But anyway what to do, just wait a moment of honesty from Creative.

  • 6230i bad jpeg filename suffix - spurious " charac...

I have received a MMS (picture) from a Nokia 6101 on Vodafone (my mother's), to my 6230i on Virgin. I can view the text and image in the MMS. If I view the details however the file is called Image001.jpg"
A spurious " character has been appended to the '.jpg' suffix of the image file.
Because of this I am unable to save the image as the 6230i auto-appends the existing file suffix which contains an illegal character - the phone shows an error message 'Cannot use /:\*,?;"|<>¥↲'
I am unable to view MMS in PC Suite - they do not show up. So I'm basically stuck. Not a serious problem just a little annoying. Is there anyway I can hack the phone memory directly to delete the " or rename the image ?
If I put a Virgin SIM in the 6101 & send to my 6230i (Virgin) this does not happen. So I don't think either phone is the culprit & I'm wondering about some issue with transmission from Vodafone to Virgin - MMS gateway - if such a thing exists ?
Any suggestions gratefully received beyond contact customer support for the networks - I'll do that when I get a chance.
    TIA,

Vodafone say its not their problem as MMS sends/receives ok on their network.
Virgin have tried to help but so far are at a loss. As the Virgin network is really T-Mobile, I don't know how much Virgin themselves can do.
Why I think its the phone is that even though the network may be the cause, the phone should deal with it.
If I forward the MMS with the extra " out of the phone to my web email it comes through fine. So it is able to parse/transmit the message just can't interpret the filename itself when trying to save the image.

  • A user experience for CP5(with 6 issues)

    Hi respected Adobe team,
I am a CP5 user for 2months. After using CP5 for a part of time, I got some user experience to share with you.
    1. I published a CP project as a .swf with 1280*1024. When I watched this .swf as other dimension (except 1280*1024),some mess line will appear  in the video.
    The video with mess line:
    The correct video:
    2. I think CP5 can publish CP project as a .flv, but I don’t know how to? In this window I don’t know how to add a server to publish .flv file. .flv file is very useful for me, so could you help me?
    3. Why .f4v file’s dimension need less than 1024*768? If I had a 1280*1024 CP project and I wanted to publish it as a .f4v file, I have to compress this project. As the result of compress is mess lines appear in the video.
    4. When I published a CP project as a .swf, sometimes this sentence appear (your computer does not have sufficient memory resource to publish your file).
I had some information in this issue. This project was created in CP5. Whatever how long time I open this project, when I publish it this dialog will appear. In my opinion, if the CP project had a long time video (much video information), the chances of this dialog’s appear will grow up. But if I change some setting maybe this dialog will not appear.
In this setting the dialog appeared:
In this setting the dialog didn’t be appeared:
    5. When I import a .swf to Adobe Flash Catalyst CS5, the .swf can’t be displayed normally. And I tried to analyze a .swf(about 2 min long) by a tool, the result is the .swf just have 37 frames. The strangest point is more than 90% video content is in the 35th frame. Other 36 frames almost have nothing. I don’t know why.
    6. When I recording a long time video, CP cut the video as many slides automatically. Sometime it makes me a little uncomfortable.
In this CP project, I recorded this video at a heat. But CP cut it automatically (become 18 slides).
At last, I have an advice for CP. If we can modify the video part in every part, it will be great! Actually, I am a big fan for Adobe productions. So wish a better CP version (maybe CP 6?). Thank you!
    My msn:[email protected]
Glad to make friends with you!

    Hi Nick,
I'm sorry to note that you are facing these issues with Captivate 5. While many of the issues you've reported probably have a workaround (I've listed some follow-up actions below), one issue we've had difficulty reproducing is the 'out of memory' issue when you publish. Can we schedule a conference call with a Connect session to investigate this further. Please mail me at- shamer at adobe dot com with details on the geo you are located in and some convienet time slots for the call.

    The other issues:

    1. I published a CP project as a .swf with 1280*1024. When I watched this .swf as other dimension (except 1280*1024),some mess line will appear  in the video.
Can you check if this is an FMR swf (does the video camera icon appear on your Cp slides in the film strip/ thumnails? In that case there will be some lines observed with resizing.
    2. I think CP5 can publish CP project as a .flv, but I don’t know how to? In this window I don’t know how to add a server to publish .flv file. .flv file is very useful for me, so could you help me?
You cannot publish the Cp project as an FLV. You publish as an F4V file. You then have to manualy upload this on to a streaming server (if that is what you are attempting).
    3. Why .f4v file’s dimension need less than 1024*768? If I had a 1280*1024 CP project and I wanted to publish it as a .f4v file, I have to compress this project. As the result of compress is mess lines appear in the video.
This is a limitation from the way we use codecs for F4V. We are currently investigating this issue.
    6. When I recording a long time video, CP cut the video as many slides automatically. Sometime it makes me a little uncomfortable.
In this CP project, I recorded this video at a heat. But CP cut it automatically (become 18 slides).
We can look at this issue also in our connect session, but I believe your auto FMR might be getting triggered in some scenarios, hence the number of slides varies.

  • 6230i memory card problem

I've recently resurrected my old 6230i and begun using it again. However in doing so I've come across a wee problem.....
The big memory card that was supplied with the phone and hidden beneath the battery is only 32Mb - hardly sufficient to use the MP3 Player to any great deal. Looking at it I asserted that it was an SD type card and I went and bought myself a 4Gb one to fit in place of the measly 32Mb effort. Imagine my annoyance when, after buying the new memory card I couldn't get it to fit - it's just slightly too thick. On closer inspection I noted that the card I've bought is actually an SDHC card - but surely that shouldn't make any odds? Would it? Do I need to buy a stricly SD card, without the wee HC ad endum? Or, do I need to buy a smaller capacity memory card, possibly a 1Gb or 2Gb, in the hope that it's of equal thickness to the 32Mb one? Or, knowing my luck, am I just doomed not to get a memory card that fits because in actual fact there isn't one, because Nokia have played a huge trick on the unsuspecting 6230i purchasers????
I await your wisdom dear forum members.
ps......I humbly apologise if this question has already been asked countless times before!!!
    Kind Regards,
    Paul-D.

The slot in the phone is for an MMC card. It may look like an SD card but not quite the same. Please do check with the card manufacturer for compatibility before buying. The phone is very old and may have compatibility issues with the higher capacity cards nowadays.

  • 6230i no signal / heats up

6230i phone is about two years' old. Recently, it was getting very hot and no signal was coming. Showed a technician, who felt the ICFP was to be changed. He tried with a new ICFP, but problem remains.
    What to do please? Thanks

  • Nokia 6230i and Mercedes car kit

    Help.
My phone is no longer working in my mercedes command car kit. If I fiddle with it it does intermittently pick up but does not charge it and often does not work properly eg unable to close a call. I've asked Mercedes to check the kit and apparently it's not a problem with the command system or phone cradle. The advice I've been given is that it could be the software or the charge block in the phone. Has anyone had a similar experience or can give advice. Thanks.

    Hi mhickman
The PopPort connector on the bottom of the phone is notorious, but you could try cleaning the contacts with a pencil eraser which may improve matters. As this is not a Bluetooth connectivity matter, I don't think software is implicated in this issue.
If you ever want to upgrade your phone you can change UHI cradle from 6230i to a 6310i one which you could probably find cheaply on Ebay and use a ViseeO MU-1000 Bluetooth module which fits in the cradle.

  • NokiaPCSuite not connect 6230i via bluetooth while...

my nokia 62301i is getting connected from my PC via bluetooth and other devices but PC Suite is unable to find Nokia 6230i to connect via bluetooth!
Must be a PC Suit Failure!
    Needs help!
    Thanks.

    I have the same issue.
I'm trying to use PC suite (downloaded from nokia site as the proper one for 6230i rel 7) connecting 6230i via bluetooth. Pc and phone are "associated" but when i launch the PC suite I get an error message: "It is not possible to recognize the phone".
I read a lot of post but nobody seems to have solved the issue!
From Bluetooth application I can read files on pc ... so che bluetooth connection seems to work properly; it appears as a PC suite bug .. really boring!
Nokia team can help us ?

  • IPhone 4S earpiece issues

I recently moved from an iPhone 4 to and iPhone 4S.  This was a disaster, when after 2 weeks, the earpiece lost its sound.  I went online and found many rehabilitative posts, none of which worked and finally reset the phone and restored (a very long process).
Now iTunes would not sync anything despite saying that it had.  The phone was useless.  After hours of settings tinkering and reading posts on this problem the gremlins disappeared and the phone was fine, except of course for the earpiece.
I went to The Westchester Apple Store in White Plains, NY and asked for a replacement phone that I could restore AND THEN RETURN THE DEFECTIVE WITH ALL MY DATA.  They said that this was not possible and that the exchange required me to leave the old, my data would be erased and I could then restore the new from a backup.
ARE YOU KIDDING??  No self respecting data sensitive person would trash their best data set intentionally and rely on a potentially corrupted back up.  WHy would you suggest this?  IT IS SHAMEFUL THAT YOU LACK THE HARDWARE TO SIMPLY CLONE A REPLACEMENT PHONE IN THE STORE.  Your defective hardware, my problem!
Adding insult to injury, I have been told that iI I had called rather than gone to your store they would have initiated a ship in advance swap.  Great, better service over the phone than in person where the aggrieved can rant in front of a store full of people.
Why can you image and clone a replacement mac disk drive but not a phone?  Seriously!

I had the same issue with my new 64 GB iphone 4s (white) and AT&T service.
If I use the headset the phone works fine, but if I use the phone's built in microphone it does not work.
I could hear the other people talking but they could not hear me talking. This happened with both, calls from other cells as well as calls from landlines.
I bought the phone from an AT&T store, and when I tried to exchange the phone, they told me to take the phone to an Apple Store, which I think is ridiculous.  I bougth the phone from AT&T and expect them to exchange it in the store.  I returned the phone back to AT&T (no exchange)  and will wait to see what Apple will do about the issue before I buy another one.
