I am so sorry to inform you that Acrobat XI Standard is not available on Mac, you can only use it on your Windows computer.
You can also refer to the system requirements at : System requirements | Acrobat family of products—older versions (XI, X, 9)

I am having the same problem. I did download the two files and started the .exe file. The .exe file appears to run downloading files. When the bar is full the window dissapears without any options. Both files are in the same folder. any thoughts?

I checked the installation guide, and it had information for installing on macintosh... I don't have a mac, so I cannot comment if the instructions are correct. I'm pasting the unix and mac instructions to see if it might help you.

To install JDeveloper from jdevstudio10131.dmg:
1. Mount the JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0 Disk Image by double-clicking the .dmg file.
2. Drag the JDeveloper application to a location on your hard drive; for example, Applications.
3. Start JDeveloper by double-clicking the JDeveloper application.
4. If starting JDeveloper for the first time answer:
* Yes to create a JDeveloper user home.
* No to migrate from a previous version.
Note that by default JDeveloper files are stored under /Users/<username>/jdevhome.

Holy crap, this fixes the issue. At least temporarily it has. I should add that my issue was single finger forward/back swipe stopped working on the magic mouse in Firefox since Mavericks came along. I have been fighting this since I upgraded to Mavericks a few months ago. Thank you, tbirdvet. You have no idea how much easier you just made using my iMac again.

Since Windows 8, OEM preinstalled operating systems store and encrypt the product key in the uEFI or BIOS firmware chip. The product key is no longer on the COA sticker to help prevent theft. Whenever you need to reset or reinstall the same operting system on your OEM PC, the product key will automatically be applied and activated. Have you tried running Belarc Advisor? I believe that will show you the product key along with other important information about your system. http://belarc.com/

You will need to purchase a license activation key for Windows 7 Ultimate.
HP does not install Windows 7 Ultimate version on its notebook.
That is why your attempt to upgrade from Windows Basic\Home edition\Professional to Windows 7 Ultimate is not working.

BTW the platform swap is for current version of Adobe software only, if you have older version then you may have to look for Cross-platform upgrade.

you cannot use your pc license to install on a mac. you would need a separate license (and serial number) for that.
adobe allows platform swaps, but only with the latest (xi) version, Order product | Platform, language swap
your option to use acrobat on a mac are to upgrade to acrobat pro xi and change platforms, use a windows emulator (parallels/boot camp etc) on your mac or swap with a third party.

We would like to adopt the hardening recommendation for Windows 2008 R2 from CIS to all our DC servers. However, but then we found some of our DC in remote sites are Windows 2008 server only.

Yes, this should be fine. Hardening only specific security settings, registry keys etc and there's not much difference if you consider hardening.
