Shape Tween grayed out between 2 vectors

I have two vector graphics I imported to my stage and want to do a shape tween between them. But shape tween is grayed out. The images are imported Illustrator EPS's. Why is this happening?

Right now they are grouped, you need to break them apart. cntrl+B.
That is going to give you some funky results though - with the "02" being the same in both keyframes and the black being what is intended to be tweened, just a heads up. You probably will just want to shape tween the black and motion tween the "02"

Brush Tip Shape option grayed out, can't uncheck it.

The "wet edges" selection in my "brush tip shape" options is grayed out.
I can't de-select it from the left side of the Brush window. I've tried closing and re-opening Photoshop, and re-booting my computer, but it comes back the same way every time I open the program.
I am running Win 7 on a Dell with lots of memory and a decent video card.
FWIW -- the color model in the file is RGB. I'm aware that Index Color upsets brush tip options, but

Frustrating while it lasted.
I use brush-stroke to turn vector paths into lines fairly often, so I'm glad this is finally fixed.

Motion Tween grayed out

I'm doing a project for class and I'm not terribly savvy with Flash, so please bear with me as I try to give you the information I hope you'll need to help me out. I am using Flash CS5.
I am doing a kinetic typography project. I need letters to move along a path I drew with the pen tool. I drew the path. I have the letter. I converted the letter to a symbol. I created a guide layer and my pen tool path is on it. I click on the layer with the letter and the letter is just off the stage. I have 30 frames created and one initial keyframe in the first frame of the timeline.
When I right-click on the letter, Create Motion Tween is grayed out. When I right click on the layer containing the letter, the Create Motion Tween is grayed out. When I add another keyframe to the end (frame 30 in this case) and try to right-click, it's still grayed out. I've tried clicking on the guide, the letter, recreating the symbol... What am I missing?

You're welcome. One problem with the new tweening (hearsay on my part) is that they are not intuitive to use. With the classic tween it is a straightforward matter of start frame, end frame, and done, and it serves most purposes folks have for timeline-based tweening.
It is possible the approach you took is not the way to go when creating motion paths for the new tweens. Here's a link to a video that demos using the new tween with a motion path. It appears the path is not done the same way you attempted if you have the path on a separate layer...

So it is looking more like the grayed out options were correct.
I would hope that if you showed your instructor the problem you were having you wouldn't get any disfavor shown for your solution, especially if you were taught to do what you were trying to do... and it might even teach your instructor something.

Some mail accounts grayed out, connections ok, but cannot access mail

2 of my 4 e-mail accounts, that I access via Mac Mail suddenly became 'grayed out' between the morning, when I was checking e-mail on my laptop at home, and the mid-afternoon,when I tried to check mail again while the laptop was on
the campus network.
Running snow leopard 10.6.1, Mail Version 4.1 (1076); have had File
Vault ON the past 10 days due to travel but normally it has been off.
Affected accounts were a personal commercial mail service (POP) and my main work account (Exchange IMAP) but my g-mail (POP) and alternate work account (IMAP but not exchange)were not affected. Connection Doctor says connection and login to
server on both accounts succeeded.
Both grayed-out accounts appear fully functional by alternate access
(web mail versions (both), iPhone (both), & Microsoft Outlook on
Windows for the Exchange IMAP account). Both accounts are enabled. I
have not, to the best of my knowledge, changed the account settings for
either account in Mail preferences or on the servers via alternate
access.
The same problem persists now on my home network again (cable modem/airport wireless, all working smoothly for non-mail related activities).

I had un-enabled and re-enabled, but not checked 'take online/take offline'. One of them did offer 'take online', so that may have been its problem.

I thought it might be something ridiculously simple like this that I'd accidentally messed with....not that I was even aware of this option until now. Still don't know how I managed to take them offline, without meaning to, but now that I know about this, can check here first if it happens again. thanks!

Motion and shape tween

I am having trouble figuring this one out and would
appreciate any help!
Basically what I want to be able to do is move a drawing from
one corner toward the center of the stage, as it approaches the
center of the stage, change shape and then change direction to an
opposite corner.
Can anyone provide me with a simple tutorial?

try making a movie clip of the drawing with shape tween, then
out of that movie clip.....create another movie clip and place that
mc with shape tween and apply the motion.....got it?!....^^

Is it possible to do one to one shape tween or animate vector anchors/handles?

I am animating hair. I've added shape tween hints to as many points as I can, but parts of the shape still tweek out. Im wondering if I can animate handles/anchors directly, or if I can specify that I don't want the shape tween to add/remove anchors/handles while it tweens.
Is there a way to tween a shape one to one? By that I mean: Say I have an N point vector animated over frame 1 to 10. I want point 0 at frame 1 to blend to point 0 at frame 10, point 1 at frame 1 to blend to point 1 at frame 10, etc

Stumped with vector shape tween

I'm trying to make a simple animation using a vector graphic I imported to Flash after creating it in Illustrator. What I want to do is to stretch the graphic and have the original form grow into the stretched form, by adjusting the vectors to stretch the shape. So far I've gotten this all figured out (I have barely any experience with Flash). I break down the graphic until it allows me to turn it into a shape tween. But when I go to test the animation, it does this weird thing where the inside of the letter (it's a word I'm animating) shrinks and moves out of the way for the inside that matches the stretched contour? Or, the letters start trading places? I'm very confused by this since I have no idea what I did to tell it to do this. How do I just get this animation to be done simply?
Any help is much appreciated.

1. distribute each discrete part of the shape to its own layer (right click on shape>distribute to layers).
2. tween each layer.
3. use shape hints (modify>shape>add shape hints).

Vector Mask is Grayed Out?

but i am still having trouble getting things to work ... i get it that i am still having trouble w/the concept but at least i'm not giving up ... right?
so, i have a BG layer > New Layer on which i have drawn a Circle and applied some Layer Styles
next, i would like to apply a Vector Mask and then Duplicate the layer and select the Vector Mask Thumb Nail in the Duplicated layer so that i can use the Pen tool set to Intersect Shape Area so that i can draw a shape w/the Pen that'll create a "Glossy Effect"

Shape tween vector points

i would like to understand (if possible) how flash deals with
shape tweens?
does it try and recognize shapes in order to find what it's
common between two shapes or does it more simply try to establish a
link between vector points according to the closest corresponding
position?
is there no way of, say, switching off the attempt of shape
recognition?
why aren't hints automatically attached to vector points
within a same layer?

1. In my experience, Flash merges extra points into one, and
breaks single points into multiple as necessary. how it picks which
ones to do this with has always been beyond me.
2. It seems to be completely by position, but only an Adobe
engineer could tell you how the algorithm works.
3. Hints are not automatically attached to anything. You can
add as many hints as you want, and place them wherever you want. If
you place a hint on each vector point, and place them on the
correct places at the end of the tween, then flash will make sure
the points start and finish where you want them to.
4. Vector points, to my understanding, hold their position,
and any information necessary for the calculation of bezier
curves.

HT1386 Cant sync apps between itunes library and computer...apps show up but grayed out

When trying to sync apps from itunes to ipad they appear grayed out and you can't select them. *confused

1. on the pad, settings, general / restrictions. make sure that is not on.
2. if you have multiple devices syncing from the same computer, make sure you have the correct on indicated in the leftside navigation pane of I tunes.

Now - whatever you do, DO NOT GO BACK to layout mode. It's
the source of a
high percentage of all the posts here (in one way or
another).
In my opinion, there are three serious problems with Layout
Mode -
1. Perhaps most importantly, it sits between you and *real*
HTML tables,
and fools you into believing that concepts like "layout cell"
and
"autostretch" really mean something. They do not. As long as
you use
Layout Mode, you'll never learn one of the most important
things for new web
developers - how to build solid and reliable tables.
2. Actually, #1 wouldn't be *so* bad, except that the code

3. The UI for Layout Mode is beyond confusing - many options

To make good tables, keep it simple. Put a table on the page,
and begin to
load your content. If you would want a different table
layout, instead of
merging or splitting cells, consider stacking tables or

tables instead, respectively.
And above all, do not try to build the whole page with a
single table!
Luckily, Adobe understands the problems created for the
unsuspecting user
who falls into this trap, and has elected to remove this
feature altogether
from the next version of DW. The time is right for you to
begin working
with tables properly!

Flash Freezes when doing simple Shape Tween

I tested this in Flash 5 before I brought it over to Flash
CS3 and am very concerned about the results.
I have an object that has been created on the stage and is
not a library item. I am creating an animation with no action
scripting that will be converted to a mov file and the end use will
be a video played on tv.
I have three keyframes, spaced out at 1, 5, and 10 frames.
Frame 10 has 10 nodes in the object, frame 5 has 8 nodes, and frame
1 has 7 nodes. I put my playhead on any frame in between the
keyframes, and cntl+click for the pop-up menu, from which I select
'Create Shape Tween'. Flash creates the tween, but when I attempt
to save or move the playhead (with either the 'return' key or the
short cut keys) the program throws up the 'beach ball' which spins
for over 5 minutes, making me 'force quit' the application.
Other aspects of this project are that I have several layers
(all of which are hidden [the 'eye' turned off] during testing),
contained in a folder. No other animation has been applied to any
other objects.
I am running an iMac with version 10.4.11 and have had no
other problems with the application.
Is there a fix I can download? This seems to be a programming
problem.

Flash software has a major problem with some of the new
tools, such as the Gradient Transform tool.

Uneven morphing of Shape Tween (Text)

I am using Adobe Flash Professional CS6 for a slideshow, and am using shape tweens as text transition between slides. However, when I transition from a paragraph of text to a single line of text, half the paragraph will form the last alphabet, which isn't very appealing. Is there anyway I can distribute the morphing of the alphabets from the alphabets of the paragraph's text into the line of text such that it becomes more even? I tried fragmenting each the alphabet in attempt to "fool" the shape tween so that it may use more alphabets from the paragraph for each alphabet in the line, but it doesn't seem to work.

Shape Hints
To improve the quality of the morph, you can add shape hints to each keyframe. Shape hints let you tell Flash precisely which points in each vector to match up during the tween. So, if you add shape hints matching the corners of the square with the secondary anchor points of the circle, the morph will no longer appear to rotate. Here's how:
Select the first keyframe and choose Modify Shape Add Shape Hint (Ctrl/Cmd-Shift-H).
A small circle with an a inside will appear in the center of your shape. Drag it to the upper-left corner of the square.
Select the last keyframe, and you will see a corresponding a shape hint. Drag it to the upper-left arc of the circle.
Continue the process until you have four matching shape hints. (Often, just one or two hints are enough for Flash to catch on, but sometimes many are required.)
Note: There is a limit of 26 shape hints for each shape tween.

Help with making buttons work within mc/shape tween

i've created a movie clip for a navigation link named
"Products". when you mouse over the "Products" mc, the movie clip
has a sub-navbar that tweens horizontally out of the movie clip.
when the subnav is done coming out and stops, i have buttons that
appear that i would like the user to be able to click on.
everything works out fine until i roll over the button the rollover
state doesn't work. i have a feeling it is because the button is
nested, but not sure.

A single Path would just be an out line of your three shapes. As you knew to create the above using vectors requires three shape layers. Shapes can only be filled with a single color or pattern. They also can be stroked and have layer styles added. Additional strokes may be need to highlight the green area like you show above..
With CS6 you can merge shape layers into a single shape layer your result would be a single color shape however the merged paths would be the outlining path you seem to want. you can save the path in the path palette when the merged shape is the active layer.
