Shapes following a path orientation

Hello,
I would like to make some shapes follow a path orientation. I think it will be easy to understand my issue with an image:
Does anyone have a good idea of how can I do this?
Warm Regards,

Charlie,
If you want an indefinite number of stars placed with a certain distance, you may use a Pattern Brush (Approximate Path, set Distance as desired).
If you want a specific number of undistorted stars, the Blend as suggested by Carlos is the obvious way; you will probably have to Object>Path>Add Anchor Points (a sufficient number of times, you can see when you have enough) to get an even distribution along the path.

  • Making object follow a path, and turn in direction it moves

Im looking all over but my search terms must not be correct.  I can find ways of getting text to follow a path but not normal objects.  It doesnt seem to work the same way for normal objects.  How do I create a path and have an object follow around it?  Also, I need to get the object to turn as it follows around (its a little space ship that needs to face the direction its moving)

Layer --> Transform --> Auto Orient, if by path you indeed mean motion path, which for all intents and purposes could be a copy&pasted mask as well. if you need anything more elaborate, expressions may be required...

  • Having a "spot" light follow a path

I have a complex figure (see below).  I want to have a spot light follow a path withing the figure.  What is the easiest way?  Can I point, click, move a head a second and repeat the process?  I want to layout the path and then have the spot light follow it over way 20 seconds?  THANKS!

I am not sure what you want to do. Do you want to have a lighting effect like a highlight move around this shape as if it were a 3D object so that it goes behind certain elements? Do you simply want to set this layer as a 3D object and illuminate it withn a 3D spotlight in AE?
Both involve using the pen tool to draw the path on the object. The first option involves multiple layers, the second simply means  you need to attach the point of interest of the spotlight to the path. You can easily do this by first setting up your spot light so that it is pointing gennerally in the direction you want. Then draw the mask path on the layer, open up the mask property by pressing the M key and set a single keyframe for the mask by clicking on the stop watch. Now Copy that keyframe.
The second step is to select the point of interest for your spot light and set a keyframe there. Now select the keyframe for the point of interest and Paste.
Moving a highlight around this object like is more complicated. If you want to end up with something like this then let us know and we'll try and walk you through the steps.

  • InDesign export PDF path should follow document path

I love InDesign totally. Well, almost...
I often work on several documents over the course of a day, or sometimes I won't work in InDesign for several days. In either case, InDesign exports the PDF to the last path exported to rather than following the path of the document I am working on. I find this mildly annoying to highly aggravating, depending on my work load. (I can't say how many times I have "lost" a PDF I just exported, only to find some time later that it saved to the last export location, which often has nothing to do with the document I'm exporting from.)
Is there any setting I can change for this? I don't mind mucking in the registry if I have to.
    Thank you,
    Bruce

I'm pretty sure that would be scriptable. I don't write scripts myself, but I had Dave do one for me last year for correcting homework. It does all sorts of neat stuff like locking existing layers, adding a new one, changing the default text color and saving a new version of the file into the old directory so pretty much all I need to do is run it and type my comments.
Post on the scripting forum for more help.

  • [CS6] How can I move shapes (created with paths)?

    [CS6]
I created shapes with the pen tool.
Then I selected the path selection tool and selected a path.
Clicked right mouse key, choosed "Fill Path..." or "Fill Subpath"
(don't know what it means). After filling with a color I get an object in
the form of the path and I can move the path to another place.
But I can't move the object in the shape of the path.
I can't move it with "Path selection tool" because it's no path.
Then I tried the "Move Tool" but I also can't select the object with it
instead the whole canvas is moving.
How can I select and move shapes which were
    created with the pen tool?

You've drawn a Path then filled a region of a pixel layer.
To make Shape layers, use the Pen Tool in "Shape" mode set in the Options bar.
If you really do want to draw a Path and use it to create moveable pixel shape then do the fill with an empty layer targeted.

  • Colors of flag follow a path like a road Photoshop CC 2014

Say the stripes/colors of the italian flag. Like a road the stripes follow a path. How?
I tried making a pattern by making a skinny selection through the stripes.
If I make a path and say stroke with pattern it either:
creates rows of colors as if the pattern repeats down the page and the path reveals it
    OR
if I turn on impressionism int the pattern menu  it makes a series of color blobs that vary in length and color.
    Thanks !
    p.s. dont have illustrator

Photoshop does not transfer files nor import files. It can open files from any place that finder can access for files.
    This is the normal process:
You need to log into https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/catalog/desktop.html Download Center
Select the app you would like to start with
The Creative Cloud manager will install first.
When done installing, the Creative cloud (adobe manager) should open in the middle of your screen.
If no apps automatically start installing then click on Apps
Scroll down to the app you want to install and click the install button
Once the manager says it is done, you can start your app like you normally do with any other app.

In FW 8 you can use the Magic Wand or Polygon Lasso tools to
    select the
shape. Then convert the Marquee to a path.
In any older version of FW, you would need to use the pen
    tool to trace
    the shape.

  • The DFS Replication service stopped replication on the folder with the following local path: C:\Windows\SYSVOL\domain

    Hi,
i am facing the problem SVSVOL folder replication, i also checked dcdiag and result is DFSRevent fail .
in event log i found the event Error:
The DFS Replication service stopped replication on the folder with the following local path: C:\Windows\SYSVOL\domain. This server has been disconnected from other partners for 173 days, which is longer than the time allowed by the MaxOfflineTimeInDays parameter
(61). DFS Replication considers the data in this folder to be stale, and this server will not replicate the folder until this error is corrected.
To resume replication of this folder, use the DFS Management snap-in to remove this server from the replication group, and then add it back to the group. This causes the server to perform an initial synchronization task, which replaces the stale data with fresh
data from other members of the replication group.
    Additional Information:
Error: 9061 (The replicated folder has been offline for too long.)
    Replicated Folder Name: SYSVOL Share

  • How to make several copies of a shape follow a motion path

Hi all! Does anyone have an idea for this:
I have drawn a "highway" using the bezier tool - I want a lot of circleshapes to follow this highway to indicate a current flowing. I have the circle shape and with the motion path behaviour I can make it follow the shape. Now I want a lot of cirlces to do the same so the highway is filled with the circles repeating over and over. I have tried some different setting an emitter with motion path but it doesn't work.
I would think that this illustration is quite common so maybe some of yo could give me a clue on how to do this??
    Morten

    Hi.
I tried it using the Replicator:
    Create the highway.
    Create a Circle.
    Replicator settings:
    Shape> Geometry.
    Shape Source>your highway Shape.
    Points>27
Offset: assign a Ramp Behaviour. Start Value 0%. End Value: 191%. This moves the circles along the highway.
    Tweak to taste.

  • Making a radial gradient fill follow the shape of a path

I have created an elaborate path. I now want to radial gradient fill the background but I want it fill in such a way that the gradient is shaped like the path, e.g. if I had a star or car shaped path, the radial gradient isn't round but shaped like a star or a car.
I want to get the effect of a shape glowing but in a gradient of different colours as opposed to just one.

Chuck, I had to dig into the darkest depths of my old memory for this, but I had a feeling it was there somewhere.  The black stroke on the outside is on another layer, because I _had_ to harden up the outline!

  • Following a path. . . exactly!

    Hi there,
I am trying to animate what I can only best describe as a
    'Heart Rate Monitor' animation.
I want a small line to cross the screen with the typical
up-and-down characteristics of a heart rate monitor. The basic
principal is easy. Create a symbol, create a path, connect them and
    then motion tween...
However, even when set to 'orient to path' the line jerks
around the corner from one way to the other. Is it possible to get
the line to curve around the corner instead?
In essence what I am looking to do is animate a straight line
around a corner, but have the straight line curve around the corner
with the path instead of flicking from one direction to the other.
Hope someone can make sense of that!
    Cheers,
    Al.

just because your using a motion guide doesn't mean, that you
dont have to keyframe dude ...flash does what you tell it or show
    it to do
if you want your graphic to change it's position or shape or
scale on the motion path ,then you need to keyframe that exact
point in time you want it to happen & move your graphic etc
    etc

  • How do I use a shape as a Path in Photoshop?

i've tried creating a path in Photoshop and tried dragging the shape from the library but it will not drag to a path. When I drag a shape to a layer in Photoshop it is rasterized.
How do I get a shape to go onto a path in Photoshop? Also, If this can be done, will the path still be editable with points and handles as is normal for paths?

Hi - Can some help I am going crazy!!.!
I drew a shape with the pen tool (which took me ages..) , I traced it from a picture I imported, and i am unable to reselect it.  I can see it in red but I am just not able to reselect it.  I have the layer selected, but there is no sign of it in my paths panel at all.  I tried clicking the direct selection tool (about 100 times),  I tried the brush tool.  I tried everything.  The same thing happened to me the other day.....    Please can someone help!!!!  Tania

This is the Tech Sheet on the subject:
    Photoshop Help | Managing paths
It contains this item under Manage Paths:
When you use a pen or shape tool to create a work path, the new path appears as the work path in the Paths panel. The work path is temporary; you must save it to avoid losing its contents.
Ok, the red you referred to is a Stoke you added. Then QuickMask is not involved.
